Oscar Wilde once said: “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.” But living life shouldn't be the exception, it should be the rule. That's the simple yet big idea from author, Detavio Samuels, one of the advertising industry's youngest executives.
In Exist No More, Detavio Samuels argues that, while it is true that life happens to us, we, too, must happen to life. Originally penned as a guide for helping friends and loved ones pursue an impassioned and inspired life, Exist No More calls for us to come alive, get off auto-pilot and fight to get the most out of the life we have been given.
Through what he calls snackable content, Samuels delivers quotes, visuals and short blog-type post around 21 ideas designed to inspire, incite, and instruct his readers to live life to the fullest.
"In "Exist No More"; Samuels challenges us to squeeze every fabulous thing we can out of life. The tone of the book is so encouraging that you'll feel like you have your own personal life coach sitting next to you. I've already decided that this book will be required reading for the students in my Happiness college course, as Samuels does a great job of helping you figure out how to define happiness and greatness for yourself. --Bianca C. Williams, Assistant Professor of Africana Studies, University of Colorado Boulder
"Dynamic, impactful, insightful fuel.... A fantastic tool to retool your thinking and approach to life." --Kim Fields, Actress/Singer/TV Producer
As one of the advertising industry's youngest executives, Detavio Samuels has helped some of the world's biggest companies build their brands and connect to consumers. At the age of 32, Detavio sits as the President of GlobalHue-Detroit where he leads teams to develop crossover strategies and ideas that tap into the influence of the fast-growing multicultural market and drive total market business.
When not helping brands develop innovative marketing strategies, Detavio works with people (young and old) to unleash their personal magic and reach their full potential.
Detavio has been recognized for his work on both the marketing and personal development fronts with awards such as: 40 Under 40 (Crain's Detroit, 2011), Top Executives In Marketing and Advertising (Black Enterprise, 2011) and Men of Excellence (Michigan Chronicles, 2012).
Currently, he lives in New York City with his beautiful wife, Tanya. Together they are focused on loving each other and living a life that reflects the presence of God in their lives.
Exist No More inspires and encourages us to live to our full potential. This book is for people who want to do more than live a life of mere existence.
the information is laid out in such a way that it makes it so easy to be receptive ... i had my highlighter in hand the entire time though it was hard not to get carried away with it! i especially love the images at the end of chapter. i will read this book again soon ... it'll be interesting to see how my reaction to the dialogue changes as i begin to "exist no more" :)
Excellent, quick read! Defiantly worth the time. This book reaffirms all of your inner beliefs and makes you feel more comfortable being risky and bold.
