I am a wife of a U.S Army Soldier and mother of a beautiful little girl. I work for the Wyoming Department of Revenue in Cheyenne Wyoming, and no we don't still ride horses out here. I've been in love with reading since I first discovered the Harry Potter series in 4th grade. I don't just read a good book I devour it. After reading hundreds of novels I finally bit the bullet and sat down to write one of my own. I had an idea in my head and as soon as I started writing, the story seemed to play out right infront of me. Nothing has ever felt so natural. About 10 chapters into it I decided that I was going to take the plunge and get it self published as an Ebook. "Sapphire Universe" is a Contemporary Romance novel for adults, because lets face it, I'm female. Romance is what I like to read so it's what I'm going to write. I'll be posting some teasers and keeping you up to date on my progress as I finish writing and editing. Thank you so much for your support, and I can't wait for you to read "Sapphire Universe."

Nina is a twenty six year old music teacher. She doesn’t have any family, and only one close friend. She secludes herself. Something happened to her when she was a teenager that changed her world forever. It was terrible and tragic. She saw the signs the Universe was sending, and she ignored them. She won’t let that happen again. Now she pays attention to everything, and she doesn’t take risks.

Nina lives her life very cautiously. She doesn’t get involved with people, and she doesn’t let anyone in. One morning, the Universe speaks to her. Her car doesn’t start. She has to take the bus. Nina always keeps to herself, but she meets this guy, Connor. Conner is charming, funny, sweet and he feels a connection with Nina.

I don’t believe in coincidences. Everything happens for a reason and it seems that for now, my life has crossed with Connor’s.

The Universe is throwing all kinds of signs to Nina about Connor. They start off being friends, then their relationship progresses. Nina is fighting her feelings for Conner, and starts to push him away. Connor knows they have something special and is not letting her get away that easy. He helps Nina learn to live again.
“Come on Nina, you can’t avoid doing things just because you’re afraid you will get hurt.”
“I’ll fall. I always fall and I don’t do it gracefully. I land hard and I usually break something. I’m a walking disaster just waiting to happen. Don’t you understand?”
“I understand Nina, but this time it’s different.”
“Why? How could this time possibly be any different than the others?”
“It’s different, because this time I’m here to catch you.”

And teaches her to enjoy life and appreciate the little things...

I loved Connor and Nina together. I was so happy when Nina finally let Connor in. And Connor- Connor is about as close to the perfect guy as they come. Be ready to swoon over him! He is just fantastic! The perfect combination of sweet and sexy.

This was a great love story. It was beautiful, fun, sexy, and even a little suspenseful at times. It is a wonderful feeling to pick up a book you’ve never heard of and have no idea what its about and fall in love with it! Not only did I love Connor and Nina, I loved the secondary characters as well. I will most definitely be reading the next book in this series! A great read!

This book has it all...
Action, drama, swoonworthy romance, kidnapping, tragic pasts, uncertain futures, an abundance of tequila, steaming hot sex and chocolate sauce, naked bodies and the imaginative use of a kitchen table... need I say more?!

I loved this. Sometimes I like to just skim the blurb so that I don't really know what to expect. That's what I did with this. I had a vague idea, but nothing concrete, and I got so much more than I'd bargained for...

I love that the book throws you straight into the story. I know that sometimes it's necessary to build the story, set the scene, etc. but, after an intriguing prologue, Sapphire Universe launches you into the meeting of Connor and Nina and rolls from there.

It's a message from the Universe. "The best relationships begin as friendships."

And there isn't a dull moment. There is heart stopping, panty dropping, enviably cute romance which will make you you fall in love with Connor.

"Come on Nina, you can't avoid doing things just because you're afraid you will get hurt."
"I'll fall. I always fall and I don't do it gracefully. I land hard and I usually break something. I'm a walking disaster just waiting to happen. Don't you understand?"
"I understand Nina, but this time it's different."
"Why? How could this time possibly be any different than the others?"
"It's different, because this time I'm here to catch you."

There is an air of mystery that will have you biting your fingernails and keeping all appendages crossed that things won't go badly.

I know it's a lot to ask, but I'm asking anyway. Trust me. Trust me without knowing all the facts.

There is sex. Great sex! With one very inexperienced Nina and one very, very adept, hot male! ;)

I always thought the allusive "O" that girls always talked about was an urban legend, but Connor is quickly turning me into a believer.

There is action that will keep you on the edge of your seat and make it impossible not to turn the pages.

And there is an adorable, perfect HEA involving a bus and lots of apple cider and a girl with a boys' name. So sweet.

"I will always carry you Princess. Not everyone can say they have held their entire Universe in their arms."

In short, yes, I loved this book and I think everyone needs to get a wiggle on and get it on their TBR list asap! I can't wait to read Lola, Drake, Nick and Toni's stories.

In ancient times a sapphire was given as an oath of trust, honesty and loyalty. Sapphire is the original "true blue", symbolizing sincerity and the soul.

Fabulous NEW COVER

I was sent this book By Devon in return for an honest review . Last night she posted on her page on Fb that she was scared because I was reading it . As I told her I only give my honest opinion about books and I only write awesome reviews about books LOL .. With that being said her goes my thoughts about Sapphire Universe :

Book Blurb :

Some people are so focused on themselves that they miss out on the world around them. These people are consumed with their own pain, trials and live inside of their own world, never noticing what the Universe has to offer outside of their bubble. They don’t see the paths set before them and as is the law of the Universe, when you set out on the wrong path, you lose. Nina Ryan was one of those people.

When she was 17, Nina’s world was turned upside down. Devastated by loss and grief, she was blind to the warning signs the Universe was sending her. She never saw the betrayal and pain coming and when it did, it crippled her. Nina barley made it out whole, but when she did she vowed to take control, to never again be blindsided.

Now at 26, Nina lives her life in a spectator’s state. She is constantly watching and waiting for the signs that she uses to stay on the right path. The Universe is her guide and with it and a strict set of rules, she is safe, guarded. The Universe has never steered Nina wrong so far, so she’s completely rattled when it throws her directly into the path of the one thing she has learned to avoid. And it just keeps pushing.

Connor is everything Nina can’t have and shouldn’t want. He’s gorgeous, charming, fun, and has sapphire eyes that see everything. Why would a beautiful man from New York want a damaged girl? More importantly how can Nina give him her heart when he’s just going to take it with him when he leaves? Nothing about him makes sense and everything about him screams risk. Will Connor finally be the risk Nina gains from, or is he hiding something that could finally destroy her for good? Only the Universe knows.

I Loved the characters in this book , Every last one of them .

Nina I fell in love with in the Prologue and I wanted to know all there was about her after just reading that in the beginning . Nina Lost her parents when she was 16 yrs old . We don't find out exactly how until further in the book , so I will not give that away for anyone . I will say that everything Nina Believes through her life is with alot of reason , and If I had been in her shoes I would of felt the same way as her as far as her feelings, her being un-trusting and etc.

Connor , Man oh Man I Have never seen a man in any book I have ever read where he did not have some sort of fault , and let me tell you Connor has NONE . Although there is a couple times in the book where I am thinking What has he done, or OMG what is he hiding , In truth Nothing Could of prepared me for what each instance was . Devon did a fabulous Job of leading me to believe there would be something Bad that He was hiding or was going to do , because I just thought he was way to good to be true .. When each instance played out I sighed a huge breath of relief and was happy that YES he did no wrong woo hoo ...

Lola is Nina's BFF and she is awesome throughout the whole book , her wit, her attitude I love her and she is every girls dream BFF for sure . I am excited that we are going to get a book About her and Drake ... I so look forward to seeing how that relationship plays out and I am sure Devon Won't disappoint us with it .

As Little as Nick and Toni had in the story line I am excited also to see where their story goes , I surely am wondering about that Little girl of Toni's ...... and I know there is going to be a great story about them ....

There was even a little mystery and suspense in it as well which made me just keep turning the pages to see what was going to happen next .

this book will have you holding your breath, laughing, and even shedding a tear or two , but in the end it is totally worth the read ... I LOVED every last word of it , and it will surely be a re-read for me .

My fav quote : "Come on Nina let me in I'm freezing my best assets off out here " Made me LMAO at that one .

Devon, thank you so much for approaching me and introducing yourself to me and asking me to read and review your book., without you coming to me about it I probably would of never seen it and I would of missed out on an awesome story . I can not wait to see what comes of the other couples in the books to follow with this series .

6 Beautiful loving Stars!!. This is what Romance is all about!!!!!!!

I am so happy I read this book! I seem to have stumbled across it, wasn't sure what to expect, but it blew me away! Devon Herrera, the author, has written this as her first book...well I can tell you...she will be at the top of my list to read again! Her writing style flows so easily, I was enthralled and entranced, the plot was so interesting and the romance was just simply beautiful. There is a bit of suspense mixed in, as well as meeting new characters...I just loved it all!

I don't usually get into plot descriptions in my reviews...I feel they aren't needed...that's why we read the book. I will just explain how I felt. This book had me utterly captivated from the first page! The prologue grabbed me...and didn't let go! At first, I didn't particularly care for Nina. I thought she was going to be another one of those sassy, bitchy girls that I cringe every time she opens her mouth. But soon, I am loving her! I absolutely loved her through out the book! That was the exceptional talent from Devon's writing skills...I looked back and recognized why she did this.

Now Conner...holy freaking hell!!! He is one of THE...if not...THE MOST SWOON WORTHY guy I have ever read about!! I can not say enough about him!! This is what ROMANCE is all about!! God he was beautiful, caring, hot, sexy, understanding, sweet, thoughtful, and just awesome! He is everything we love and want! Just a beautiful person , inside and out. God, the words he says to Nina all the time?! I was soaring! I was loving it!! The best, most romantic words ever! Holy mother of God, the letter and Christmas present he gives Nina....had me dropping to my knees! He just says some of the most beautiful things to Nina! That's why I love reading these kind of books. I love to hear the words! Oh Connor, I will be dreaming about you for a long time!!

"Just let me take a look at you for a second" "You are so beautiful it hurts." He whispers against my skin

He is by far the most beautiful man I've ever seen"...(Nina)

"Nina Ryan, you are complicated, unique, adorable and real. I've never had more fun with another woman. You also happen to be sexy as hell and the most naturally, devastatingly beautiful woman I've ever met"....(Connor)

I can't even begin to give anymore quotes away because it would spoil the story...but just trust me that you will be swooning and gushing the whole way through! To say I loved this book is an understatement.

I also wanted to point out there are some pretty good, steamy sex scenes! I loved them! They were a great addition, they were steamy and I loved that they were spicy and so hot for each other!! They couldn't keep their hands off each other!

Also, what a BEAUTIFUL cover!! One of the best I have seen. Suits the book perfectly. A beautiful cover for a beautiful book. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!! There will be 2 more...stories about the secondary characters in this book (Lo and Drake, Tony and Nick). The lead up to these is fantastic...both will be great I'm sure!

I'll start by saying that I'm one of those people who believes in the power of the universe...that people are put in your life for a reason, and that the energy and desires you put out into the world, will eventually come back to you.

Nina believed in the universe and its ability to both please her and hurt her. Without giving too much away, she's experienced trauma. She's been damaged and unfortunately for her, not looking for anyone to repair that damage.

Enter Connor. Sweet, adorable, dreamy Connor...with eyes of sapphire that she could gaze into for hours. The kind of eyes you get lost in and that sweep all of your troubles away.

"He says my name like he's tasting it and by the look on his face, I taste pretty good."

They begin a friendship that eventually turns to something more. He not only stirs something inside of her, but soon he begins to help her see that she just might be able to trust her heart again.

'Why? How could this time possibly be different from the others?' I throw my arms up in the air in frustration and I immediately lose my balance and start to teeter on the thin edge of my blades. Connor grabs both of my arms and holds me in place, steadying me. My eyes make their way to his and he reaches one hand out to brush a stray hair from my vision and tucks it behind my ear. 'It's different , because this time I'm here to catch you' He whispers.'

Unfortunately, Connor has his own demons and in his own way is running. I won't say anything else about this except that you'll have to read the story to find out more.

Connor and Nina not only begin a journey of discovery, but they save each other in more ways than one.

I also loved Nina's best friend Lo. She helped to ground her and she's the type of friend that everyone needs to not only support, but give you that dose of reality when you need it most.

This story is filled with drama, action, romance, swoon, and steam. Devon Herrera brings us a novel filled with lots of surprises! All I can say is if you like to be surprised and you believe in the power of love, READ THIS BOOK!!!

'Some People are so focused on themselves that they miss out on the world around them. Those people are consumed with their own pain, trials and live inside their world never noticing what the universe has to offer outside their bubble. They don't see the paths set before them as is the law of the universe, when you set out on the wrong path, you lose. Nina Ryan was one of those people.'

Nina has had her fair share of pain and grief. Since a tragedy when she was 17, she has taken control of her life and what goes on in it. Determined never to be hurt again she shuts herself off to everyone but her best friend, Lola. She is a scrappy little thing, who knows what she does and doesn't want and thinks she is happy bumbling along in her own world. I really like Nina, she is funny, cheeky and the kind of lead female that you can relate to. She has no idea of the plans the universe has for her when she looks in to those sapphire eyes, oh those sapphire eyes.. I have seen those eyes in my sleep!!

In his eyes I see my whole world. A beautiful Sapphire universe.

Connor has moved himself way up on my Book Boyfriends list! He is Romantic, funny and charming. He is also well trained in martial arts and has a body to die for. You are probably thinking this sounds to good to be true...well, there is a little (big!)secret, but...it doesn't make him less loveable, in fact it makes him more loveable if that is possible. I am happy to say I didn't really ever fear for their relationship, but I did fear for their lives.

I laughed out loud, held my breath and flushed a little throughout this beautiful book. It is a real page turner and a heart warmer.

He rolls so i'm draped across him and our ragged breathing is the only sound in the room "I was right" Connor says in between breaths "I'll never survive you"

Lola, Nina's best friend features in the next book, with her complicated boyfriend/not boyfriend Drake, who by the way is a hot cowboy and who doesn't like a hot cowboy?!!! So keep your eyes open for that one!!

A beautiful 4 star read!

~ Comfort is dangerous. Need is a handicap. Once you get comfortable with something, you stop paying attention. You lose focus on the things that matter and you take things for granted. Comfort gives you a false sense of security and you start to ignore you instincts, you forgot to look around you and defend yourself. Need is much more lethal though, because when you need something, you can't live without it and nothing is forever.~

Well that was Not what I was expecting at all!

Nina has experienced much grief and despair in her twenty-six years. Losing her mother and father when she was 17 Nina’s world was turned upside down. Devastated by loss and grief, she was blind to the warning signs the Universe was sending her. She never saw the betrayal and pain coming and when it did, it crippled her. Nina barley made it out whole, but when she did she vowed to take control, to never again be blindsided.

The Universe is her guide and with it and a strict set of rules, she is safe, guarded. The Universe has never steered Nina wrong so far, so she’s completely rattled when it throws her directly into the path of the one thing she has learned to avoid. And it just keeps pushing.

One day when the Universe was sticking it to her, Nina meets Connor.
Connor is everything Nina can’t have and shouldn’t want. He’s gorgeous, charming, fun, and has sapphire eyes that see everything.

Connor

Nina and Connor's first interaction had me smiling so much it hurt.
In fact reading every interaction Nina and Connor had me pretty much in this state-

description

They were fantastic! They had such a playful relationship with so much banter!

Nina fights her feelings for Connor at the start, She doesn't date and can only offer friendship.

"I get that there's something you're not telling me, but I'm a patient guy. We'll do this you way Nina, for now. Your pageant girl smile and fuck off attitude may have worked with other guys, but I see right through it. If all I can have right now is friendship, then I'll take it. ~ Connor

But their chemistry is undeniable and soon enough Nina lets go and lets Connor in.

I'm real Princess and I'm right here. The question is what are you going to do about it?"
"I want you, Nina. I want to be with you. And I want you to let me."Wow! pinch me! oh, what the hell. If he can lay it all on line, then so can I.
"I think I might want to let you."

Connor is something else he is so sweet. One of the best! I loved him. *SWOON*

"Nina Ryan, you are complicated, unique, adorable and real. I've never had more fun with another woman. You also happen to be sexy as hell and the most naturally, devastatingly beautiful woman I've ever met." He leans further down and presses his have to my hair and inhales. I'm not going to survive you." Oh wow!

The sex was smoking hot but found myself giggling at their banter even in the middle of sex! It was the best!

"So, I'm pretty sure all your neighbours know you new boyfriends name." I blush. I wans't that loud was I? "Don't be embarrassed Princess. Every man within a two mile radius is extremely jealous of me right now."

"Oh goodness! I suppose you will just have to eat me then." I chime, straight faced and Connor's eyes widen in shock a second before we both burst out laughing.
"That was like a bad porno! Nina baby, you're a terrible actress. Don't worry you can survive on you looks these days."

"Hey, if you wanted to sleep last night you shouldn't have thrown down the gauntlet like that. I'm a man Princess. Wearing lingerie to bed is like offering us a buffet. We won't stop eating till the restaurant closes."

There is a little mystery and action that had me on the edge of my seat.
I thought I had it figured out but I was so wrong. Then relieved cause it wasn't that bad anyway PHEW..

I loved Nina she was the bomb! The majority of my kindle highlights are her lines!

"Do you need a pen? I asked him. He looks a little confused at first but says "No, why." I look back at the woman and she is still staring at Connor and has caked her lips with gloss.
"Oh I just figured she'd ask you to autograph her tits or something."

"Please tell me that's the dress that goes under the real dress." I look down at myself and glare back at him. "No this the dress that you definitely won't be taking off me unless you get over it."

"Nadiya is it?" I step in front of Connor before either he or Nick could steal my opportunity to tell this bitch off. "I really don't know why you're here since you were not invited to the party that I threw for MY boyfriend, but maybe that's just how girls do things in NewYork. However, you're not in New York anymore and insinuating that I'm a whore while standing in front of MY house, coming onto MY man, is a good way to get your ass kicked in this stated."
"So if you could kindly, get the fuck off my property, Connor and I have plans this evening that do not involve his crazy ex."

OH SNAP!!!

This was brilliant they were perfect for each other. Devon has written an amazing story and I'm so glad I stumbled across this one.
I can't wait for the next one with Lola and Drake.
Get this on your TBR list people and If you already have,
WHY HAVEN'T YOU READ IT YET????

HMMMM...What to say...

Can I start out with it was okay to good? No. That's too cliche. How about I've read better? No. Still cliche and overdone. Okay, it was your typical new adult with a bit of suspense and action thrown in? Yes. Definitely.

I honestly wanted to like this more. And don't get me wrong, it was decent to good. I wasn't bored and didn't skim or skip any parts. However I was disappointed--a disappointment that happened gradually. This was a typical story of a woman's scarred past getting in the way of a decent future. Nina has rules that she abides by and these rules are molded by what the universe tells her. Basically, someone who believes in signs and uses them to gauge her reactions and actions to the world around her.

She had a tumultuous past and an incredibly traumatic event happen to her so her track record for trusting people, men in specific is nil. Until she meets Connor. He is everything wonderful and good compared to her past. She doesn't want to trust him but slowly through some false starts and a determination for a new beginning she gives in.

Connor was what really made this book for me. He was patient, understanding and incredibly loving when others wouldn't be. I adored his sincerity and ability to tear down Nina's walls. HE WAS MAGICAL!

Nina I have mixed feelings for. NINE YEARS. Nine years she went without a man in her life. Nine years she went without trusting men. I understand Connor was different but what I don't understand is how she changed AS A WHOLE.

She almost became someone else not affected by their past. I get that Connor enabled her to transcend her boundaries and stuff but many situations happened that left me feeling, HUH...okay? She was two different people. And although people can change, SLOWLY, the dramatic shift I saw was strange.

There was some suspense and attempted kidnapping excitement but again I felt like evrything was just too easy. How they got out of life-threatening situations was like childs play. Difficult circumstances were solved so easily I was almost laughing and shaking my head!

And why does new adult ALWAYS, ALWAYS have to have a damaged H or h?? Why does every new adult always have the pivotal " break-up " scene? Do all couples go through this?? NO! Why can't we see some rolling with the punches, going with the flow? My ranting, sorry.

All in all it was okay to good. This is a series though and there are other characters that need their stories told. I'm not invested in these others as much as I should be but we'll see.

Have you been in some kind situation, when you pick one book to read and suddenly you just got "that feels", like, "This one gonna be something ", some kind like that ?

Well, that is exactly what I feel when I first saw and read about this book on Goodreads.
I just "knew" it !
Plop ! Like that !

Maybe, without my knowing it, “the universe” has led me to this book, and wanted me to read it immediately, so that I can meet with a man who has hypnotized all ladies with his sapphire blue eyes. *grinning*

Who knows ?

Never underestimate "The Universe"....
Do not neglect the signs...
Cuz when you pay attention to those signs, and follow the rules, you'll be safe .

description

Past makes Nina grow into a introvert and have trust issues.
Not to mention all the "bad luck" that often befall her.
Nina learned from her life, how life is not always going according to human will.
Nina had to "protect" herself.
Have not much friends, except her best friend, Lola.

Until someday, she met with this gorgeous-angel like-adonis-with sapphire blue eyes- on the bus.

description

This guy is "a sign", sent by "the universe" to "Change her life"

And the story begins…

It's quick reading, fun and romantic with some actions.
I enjoy reading this book and I bet you will enjoying it too.

I I thought this book will have that "abusive dark anguish story" - which is me likey - BUT am WRONG !
Uhm, not absolutely "wrong", cuz at some part it has that "dark story", but not that "dark".

Well, with prologue and synopsis like that ?

How could I not think of the worst scenario will happen in this story?
Do not blame me if all that "bad scenario" occured in my mind.

Reading this book made me always in wary state.
How can I not ?
Hell-o ??

With all those "the Rules" things ??

I keep alert to what happen next !
And poor Connor baby darling honey sweety, I've suspicious on him almost a half of the book !!

Again....blame all those rules !
Especially Rule #3 and #6 !!!

I admit, the author had succeed "playing" with my mind...
She build my "alert" to the highest level, make me feel anxiety and keep wondering "What will happen next ?" or "What if..." or "Is he...?"

I only can say, you ARE "genius", Devon !
You may grinning ear to ear now....

Actually, the story is "typical" and "simple", really really sweet and romantic.
But it become NOT that simple with the way the author "lead" reader mind to take the "false sign", and am "One of the victim",hahahahaha....

I love the alpha-sweet-protective-angel like-gorgeous-Connor !
And I do love Nina too.

Love their interaction, love the way Connor trying to make Nina trust in him, caring her, his patient, make her comfortable with all her issues.

description

His possessiveness issue, hmm.....

description

Really dream man all women want to have.
Oh, and don't forget he's lickable and so damn HAWT too !!!
He make me curls my toes more than ones !

That "Chocolate Scene" really "delicious".....
Make me wanna lick him too....

description

Overall, this book is great....
It's the one you shouldn't be missed !

I admit, am fallin in LOVE with all "Ms. Herrera's guys" !

Can't wait for Drake-Lola story as well as Nick-Toni story too....

Highly Recommended !!!!!

********I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.********

4.5 stars

I have to say when I saw the title for this book I thought it was going to be a paranormal romance and not my normal cup of tea, but after reading the synopsis I couldn’t have been more wrong, I knew I wanted to read this one. The reason being is that I’m a strong believer in the power of the Universe and that all things happen for a reason.

I liked the main characters, Nina Ryan was strong, smart, funny, and a little bit feisty she was a girl after my own heart. We believed in the same thing so how could I not love her. She had a very traumatic experience nine years ago one that didn’t leave her broken, but afraid to expose her feeling to anyone ever again, so she has built up walls and let get close.

‘From now on, I will pay attention to the world around me. I will see the signs and protect myself from the risk. Nothing on one will ever hurt me again, because I’ll know. I’ll be ready for it.’ ~ Nina

Connor Wright (Swoon) was sweet, charming, kind and sexy, and with eyes the colour of Sapphire, I liked him from the start. There was an air of mystery about Connor as he had his own secret and I will say I did not guess what it was at all. Connor cares about Nina, he wants her to learn to trust him, to know that he is not going to hurt her if she lets her walls down and let him get close.

'I get that there’s something you’re not telling me, but I’m a patient guy. We’ll do this your way for now Nina' ~ Connor.

Their relationship begins friends and nothing more, and I like this, they were sweet together. I loved the banter between them, and some of the things Connor says and does for Nina left me with a big grin on my face. They soon discover that just being friends is not enough; Nina for one can’t ignore the signs that the universe is sending her she knows she has to let Connor in. Connor makes Nina feel things that she has never felt before. They both want more, and when this happens, and it does extremely quickly their relationship become very passionate and intense.

‘This man has given me so much, made me feel so many new things and now he is going to replace the bad memories with good ones ~Nina

"Nina Ryan, you are complicated, unique, adorable and real. I've never had more fun with another woman. You also happen to be sexy as hell and the most naturally, devastatingly beautiful woman I've ever met" ~ Connor

I liked the secondary characters, Nina’s best friend Lola who was always on hand to give Lola some words of wisdom, also Drake, Nick and Toni. However I think I would have liked to have known a bit more about them, as I don’t think I got to know enough about them and their backgrounds, so I was left with a few questions and wanting to know more. Apart from Lola I don’t know if they added a huge amount to the story. However since Lola is getting her own book, and I would guess that Nick might get one too, this may have been a way of introducing them, which is fine as I now know my questions may be answered.

I liked the storyline there were many twists and turns that I did not see coming and this added to my enjoyment. It had a bit of everything, steamy sex scenes, romance, action, drama, mystery and a misunderstanding. I loved that one chapter was told from Connor’s POV a nice surprise, and I would have loved a few more.

I loved this book, I laugh, I cried, I loved the ending very sweet it had a great epilogue. My favorite part of the book had to be the quotes that Devon Herrera put at the beginning of each chapter I loved them and I think I highlighted most of them. I loved the ways in which the universe was speaking to Nina; Devon Herrera did it in such a way that they were all believable. It definitely had me thinking back to examples of when I felt the universe spoke to me. I would highly recommend this book. I’m really looking forward to reading Lola’s story.

Sapphire Universe gets 4.5 stars from me.

THIS ONE IS ANOTHER 5 STARS READ FROM ME, CONSUMED ME A LOT. BIG TIME!!! AND I FALL IN LOVE WITH CONNOR WRIGHT!!!!

I came to browse try to find some new books someday, and Sapphire Universe caught my attention. The author is new, so I’d tell myself to give it a try.

Okay, so, Nina was a music teacher, loved talking to the universe, and she had a dark past (it shown on prologue). She met this Connor guy on the bus. Connor reminds me a lot to Andrew Parrish in The Edge of Never, a nagging-too-many-question-beautiful stranger. He gave Nina too many question, and the usually introvert Nina, suddenly became so open book for him. He’s got a thing. And Nina just can’t resist him. Well, he’s illegally handsome, of course.
In the middle of their conversation, the bus got an accident and Nina and Connor ended at the Hospital, with Connor pretended as her husband.

Connor was determined to have Nina as his girlfriend, he's so damn over protective alpha male, that I loved to see in a man!
So, am already FALL for him. HARD!
Connor is a dream book boyfriend...YAY!

Comfort is dangerous.Need is a handicap. Once you get comfortable with something, you stop paying attention. You lose focus on the things that matter and you take things for granted. Comfort gives you a false sense of security and you start to ignore your instincts, you forget to look around you and defend yourself. Need is much more lethal though, because when you need something, you can’t live without it and nothing is forever.

This couple's H.O.T!!!

Even Nina still struggling from her past, she can't resist Connor and start thinking about more than a make out session...she have rules...

And all those rules scared me a lot while reading it, mostly RULE #6!!! Damn!

Rule #1 Do NOT ignore the signs.

Rule #2 Pay attention.

Rule #3 The less they know about you, the harder it is for them to hurt you.

Rule #4 Comfort is dangerous. It can be taken away.

Rule #5 Need is a handicap. It can cripple you.

Rule #6 He isn’t what he seems. Don’t trust him.

The whole reading time, I keep alert! What if? What if?
See...the author was driving me mad, jealous, angry, curious all the time...and at the same time, she's telling to trust Connor! That was consuming!

I loved the make love session on the school bus!!!!!

I love all the secondary characters, Lola, Drake, Toni,Nick, and Connor's daddy, and even Samson the dog!!!

I really enjoyed reading this one, and cannot wait for Lola and Drake *the cowboy* story!!!!

Reading this book was like inhaling pounds and pounds of sugar. Its just so sweet. if you're looking for a light, sweet romance read with a hint of drama then this is the book for you. I didn't really know much about this book before reading it and went into it completely blind. I'll tell you a little bit about it, for the purpose of this review. When Nina and Connor first meet she does everything to resist the pull she feels towards him and eventually she pushes him away. She's been hurt in the past and never dates guys because of this."I don't trust people and men in particular."

I absolutely loved how Connor was always patient and kind with Nina, letting her make the decisions on how to move their relationship along. We know from the get go that Connor has a secret related to his past life in New York City, and Nina experienced a tragedy in her past which made her closed off from everyone except her bestfriend. Eventually both their secrets are revealed and there are still some obstacles, in regards to Connor's secret, before they reach their HEA.
"The best relationships begin as friendships."

This is where I'll stop because I don't want to give anything away. The drama in this story is resolved pretty smoothly and quickly and their isn't much angst or fighting between the hero and heroine. If you're looking for crazy antics and lots of breaking up and making up, sorry you won't find that in this book. The author does make mention of the Universe alot and talks about not ignoring the signs from the Universe, and the Universe leading us on a certain path. This was mostly came in the form of the heroine's inner musings. At the end we do get a bonus scene from Connor's point of view. I wish the author had included more of this in the story since I absolutely adored being in Connor's head.
Overall, I enjoyed this story and I got a much needed break from some of the heavier stuff I've been reading lately. I would definitely read more from this author. 3.5 stars

I love how Connor and Nina first meet, something like that doesn't happen very often so to me it was original. I fell in love with Connor right off that and that smart mouth of his, "Your got all defensive. Women always get defensive about their single status. Did you just get dumped or something?" Then there's his intense brutal honesty which is hard to come by now and days from men (well in my experience) "For some crazy, insane reason that I don't even really understand, I want to be with you." Then there's the protective side of him that makes me fall harder for him, "don't know your history with Nina and quite frankly, I don't give two shits. What I do care about however, is that a grown ass man is standing in a public space speaking to a woman he obviously knows as if she were dirt on his shoe. I take the things I care about very seriously and as you can see..." Then there are the things he says just in spite because it's Connor's way, "I just woke up with my girl wrapped around me and checking me out like I was a banquet. I really couldn't give two shits about your teeth right now." Then there are Connor's actions which half the time really speak louder then words, "Connor slaps my ass and chuckles. "I figured if you were going to make caveman claims on my body I should follow your lead." The one line out of Connor's mouth that was most memorable happened to be this one, "Hey, if you wanted to sleep last night you shouldn't have thrown down the gauntlet like that. I'm a man Princess. Wearing lingerie to bed is like offering us a buffet. We won't stop eating till the restaurant closes." If you couldn't tell already I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to see more from this author!

You can't like them all. I saw this floating around my feed and then saw that it was a Freebie on Amazon so I figured, why not? It has some really good reviews and I believe all of them, this just didn't work for me. I did finish it and didn't give up. I thought for sure I would end up loving this book. It started out perfectly and I really liked Nina. I liked how her and Connor met and enjoyed her inner dialogue. Then, I don't know, they got together and I didn't like Nina anymore or her inner dialogue. It was nothing at all like the girl we were introduced to. I knew that she deserved to get over her fears and find happiness but it was just such an abrupt change to who she was for NINE YEARS I found it unbelievable and very out of character. It's really hard to love a book when you don't love the characters. The story had all the things that I like in a romance it just didn't work out for me.

I really need to look at the blurb before I start reading a book. Perhaps I misinterpreted the title, but I was somehow mistakenly under the impression that this was a Sci-Fi novel. Imagine my surprise when Sapphire Universe turned out to be a New Adult romance novel by debut author, Devon Herrera. Only s few pages in to the book and I was mesmerized, laughing at the spunky personality of protagonist, Nina Ryan, as she ranted about surly bus drivers and dodged the attention of a particularly chatty passenger. The reason for Nina’s hostile attitude towards the handsome, Sapphire-eyed Connor Wright is hinted at in the prologue, but a combination of Connor’s persistence and Nina’s clumsiness create an opportunity for the two to become better acquainted.
Describing Connor’s irresistibly charming personality, Nina grudgingly notes, “I smile a little back because I just can’t help it dammit”. I feel like this sentence perfectly describes my thoughts about Sapphire Universe. Though there are serious moments, I spent a majority of the book with a smile on my face. If it were possible to befriend a fictional character, I’d want to be best friends with Nina. Her tendency to talk to the Universe as if it were a person is a bit kooky but she’s downright hilarious and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. Whether she’s joking around with her best friend, Lola, or playfully bantering with Connor, Nina is a genuinely likable heroine. It’s easy to sympathize with Nina’s traumatic past, but I like that she doesn’t ask to be pitied and has enough self-confidence to fight for what she wants.
As much as I like Nina’s character, I think I like Connor even more. He’s a swoon-worthy love interest with secrets of his own, which adds a bit of mystery to the story. Connor is pretty much the perfect hero, always knowing the right things to say and refusing to let Nina’s defensiveness push him away. Connor is sweet and charismatic, perfectly complementing Nina’s sarcastic, yet loving nature. The subplot involving Connor provides an added element of suspense to the story that had me eager to continue reading to find out what happened next.
Everything about Sapphire Universe – from the protagonists and the minor characters to the current plot and the set-up of future plots – drew me in to the story. The concept of fate plays a large part in this book and I was fascinated with the idea that every choice Nina makes is guided along by a higher power. I enjoyed inhabiting the world created by Devon Herrera, if only for a short time. As the book drew to a close, I crossed my fingers in the hope that the relationships involving some of the minor characters would be continued and I was ecstatic to learn that Devon Herrera is already working on the sequel.

I am going to let you in on a little secret. Now don't go thinking I am some crazy new aged hippie but like Nina, the main character in the book, I truly do believe in the power of the Universe. If you pay close enough attention to what is happening around you, you are able to see that the Universe is guiding you. It is pushing you into certain situations like in Nina's case taking the bus to work because your car wont start. If Nina was not guided by the Universe in that moment she may have never met Connor and what a shame that would be.

Nina was such a great character. Having been hurt in the past and now alone except for her best friend, she learns to rely on herself. Attempting to protect her heart from further damage she turns to the Universe to guide her and shield her from making the wrong decisions.

"Nothing and no one will ever hurt me again, because I'll know. I'll be ready for it."

It is a lonely existence but one that Nina is living with and surviving by until she meets Connor.

Connor is just a delicious man all around. Loyal and sexy with the most beautifully described sapphire eyes. When Connor and Nina meet you can sence the attraction immediately. Connor is funny and witty and just an all around great guy but alas no one is ever perfect and Connor is no exception. He has a past as well and while he is open and honest with Nina about almost everything there is something he is leaving out. Nina being as perceptive as she is knows this as well.

I loved the dialogue between Nina and Connor. It flowed well and felt very easy. I loved how their relationship wasn't rushed, you wont find my ever hated insta-love here. Nina and Connor start off as friends and while Connor clearly wants more he is patient and understands what Nina needs even if she doesn't always know herself.

When I pulled the piece of paper from the cookie and read the words, my hands shake. It's a message from the Universe. "The best relationships begin as friendships."

I really did enjoy this book. The drama in the story keep me entertained and intrigued to continue reading. Sapphire Universe had a great combination of romance and mystery to keep you hooked and moving along in the story. The plot twists and action were great fun, the characters were well written and the romance was just right.

Please see separate edition for full review. Summary: Definitely recommended! 5 stars :)

Merged review:

Wow. What a diamond in the rough, needle in a haystack! What do I mean? I mean that I got this off Amazon FOR FREE, and it turned out to be one of the better reads this year. And truth the fact, I've read a lot this year and its only May.

The story picks up immediately (which I love, especially when you have trouble jumping from finishing one book to another); the characters leave an impression and you find yourself wanting to know them- everythign about them.

I loved the story, and how the characters grew. I'll say this Ms. Herrera, I was extremely surprised by this, no offense. No name authors (no offense again) are exactly what I like Goodreads for, and while I'm not sure that the idea of Lo and Drake has me hooked, I'm not against it, or against reading anything else you write :)

OK first off.....what a freaking incredible read!!! I almost got away without shedding a tear and then BAM...it happened.

The Universe has a way of working; this we all know. But for Nina Ryan, it seems like the Universe is always against her. Then she meets HIM on the bus. And her whole Universe is thrown upside down and back again. Conner weaseled his way into her life and now she can't seem to live without him.

Sapphire Universe is all about finding love and forgiveness. Devon did such an amazing job with building the characters and Nina's past. I definitely smiled on more than one occasion and wanted to reach in and punch a few people at times too. The story flowed so seamlessly and I was quite upset when it ended. But thankful for the happy ending =)

I definitely recommend reading this book. I'm not a huge romance buff but this is one of my favorites =)

Holy batman,......what an awesome read. Ms Herrera had me from the bus ride. I love Connoe and Nina together. These two compliment each other so well. He's hot and sexy and she's sure that he's gonna break her heart. Connor convinces her to put her insecurities aside and take a chance. Nina agrees, knowing that Connor is caught in the middle of a murder investigation. Nina has a troubled past and can't trust because of what happened to her parents.
The secondary characters are just as lovable. Love, Drake and Les fit perfectly.
This book has love, sex, hotness, suspense and mystery all tied in a little bow. Well done Ms. Herrera, now please hurry up with the second one ;-)

Meh. This was a little too cute, good, cliche, and predictable.

I think Connor needed to be more dynamic. He was kinda flat. Also, I like a bad boy and Connor wasn't bad enough for me :(.

I really liked Nina. I liked her sass and wit.

The story wasn't believable. Everything that happened, I was like, "really?"

I was holding out for the "secret" that Connor had in New York. I thought maybe was in the mafia or something really dangerous, but the actual "secret" was a let-down :( and anti-climactic. I was like, "oh....ok."

Sapphire universe is a dramatic story with lots and lots of action. A well written novel that keeps the reader engaged and wondering what will happen next. I found this book an exciting read and it kept me guessing as to how it would unfold. The characters (a music teacher and a CEO's assistant) were well described. The storyline grips the reader and I found myself not being able to put this book down until completion. You will become attached to the characters because of the mystery surrounding them. Read and enjoy,

My score for Sapphire universe is 5/5.

I laughed, I cried, and it kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. This author does not disappoint and I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone!! Took me forever to finish this book. I would put it down and then go back to it saying I was going to finally finish it! I did that several times before I thankfully got to the end. Can't really pin point what it was about this book that didn't hold my interest? The book was well written and the story had a nice flow too it...maybe I am just crazy. Yes, I will read Book 2 just because I want to see how the other couples turn out! Although Conner is an ultimate HOTTIE!!!

I love that this book gets straight in from the start. Nina is having one of those days where everything seems to be going wrong for her. Late to work because of car problems she has to ride the bus. In steps Connor and though she tries to ignore him she just can't seem to. I don't like to give to much away on my reviews so let me just say if you like drama, angst, action, suspense, romance and heroes, this book has it all!

A nice relaxing read perfect for a rainy afternoon with some good music and a glass of wine.

The characters are not perfect, which I think makes the story all the more enjoyable.

The drama, love, friendship along with a touch of the criminal aspect make for a perfect chick lit. Can't wait for the next story in the series - Lola is a hoot.

Only doing quick reviews lately so I'll just say loved it! But I only give 5 stars to books I just can't get enough of or out of my mind so maybe in another few weeks I'll change this to a 5. I love a book with an actual story, action, suspense besides the romance that is well written & this has it all. Great Job!!

I probably would have given this book four stars if she didn't keep going on and on about his "sapphire eyes". There's only so much I can take! Also, I felt like their relationship moved way too fast. Slow it down folks!
