The older studies of Dante are always the best. There’s just something about their ability to grasp the spirit of the text albeit in an academic setting. The exploration of the grail as the mythic birthplace of transubstantiation, and the procession of the blessed in the earthly paradise of Purgatorio were just so delightfully unique and masterful.
