The Corner 6

Rate this book
When I was a young boy living in Detroit, I became friends, no, let me rephrase that. I became brothers with a skinny kid from Chicago, Anthony Davis. He was eight and I was nine. We also had a friend named Smiley and we did all that kids do. We didn’t have a care in the world until we got out of high school and began hustling. While grinding, our boy Smiley was killed before our eyes and we grew up fast. We went after the man who caused Smiley to get killed and Anthony and I eventually ended up doing time in Jackson State Penitentiary where things happened behind those walls that bonded me and Anthony together. To put it simple—he saved my life and I promised to always be there for him. I failed and now he is dead. I will stop at nothing to kill his murderers—and anyone who gets in my way. I’m a man named Baby G.

this series keeps getting better and better

I would love to see this series in a movie or prime time, so author think about it.
What I hate more than anything with a gangster, is when they fall in love bc they seem to lose sense of everything. While Slim and his crew lying up being all in love, the enemy is up, alert, planning and plotting. While they playing checkers, the enemy playing chess. I’m still very upset about Anthony. Anthony death truly had an effect on me. Author Alex is so effective at humanizing his characters that they feel real. I feel the crew failed my Anthony. For Slim to be leader, he has gotten too soft and self-absorbed. When he was at that club, he sensed trouble and left with that little old wife of his and left his crew behind. Being the leader, he should’ve ordered his crew away, but his mind and concerns were only on him and that woman. I love Baby G but he failed also bc he was supposed to went with Anthony that night. I think Reese has a focus mindset. He puts the crew 1st. But if you’re a gangster and want to play house, get you a Brea like Baby G. She doesn’t make him a soft gangster bc she knows the true meaning of ride or die. They are the true Bonnie and Clyde. I’m so happy Carlos out of prison. Chantel shows her true colors, just foul. And hurry up and get rid of LaTanza and Laurette and their whole crew. Now, Detective Styles, you gotta love him.
