Twenty-year-old Tally Greyson isn’t consumed with her own education, social life, or career goals like most young women her age. Instead, she’s trying to save her mother from the grasp of a seductive cult. What Tally doesn’t realize is that in this community, there’s a far greater danger than any she can imagine—and she and her mother aren’t the only ones in its sights. There are plots brewing here that will threaten the fate of the world. Concert pianist Liesl Bower has put her own dangerous past behind her, and in her Charleston family home, surrounded by those who love her, she’s preparing for a world concert tour with her dear friend, violinist Max Morozov. She thinks she’s safe; the man who tried to kill her is dead, his coconspirators have been rounded up, and no one knows she had anything to do with saving the world from a new revolution. That is, until a world leader is assassinated on the other side of the globe, setting events into motion that could kill the U.S. president, destroy Washington—and take everything and everyone Liesl loves with it. A madman is at the controls now. Even with the backup of the CIA and the dubious protection of a former KGB agent, this time they may all be too late. The heart-pounding final book in the Red Returning trilogy, Deeper Than Red goes further into the world of espionage and action than ever before, delving into the very worst powers of darkness, and pitting them against the light of faith, love, and forgiveness.

Sue Duffy in her new book “Deeper Than Red” Book Three in the Red Returning Trilogy series published by Kregel Publications gives us a contemporary thriller

From the back cover: In this finale to the Red Returning trilogy, the plot to resurrect the Soviet Union takes a daring dive into the churning depths of the occult.

Twenty-year-old Tally Greyson isn’t consumed with her own education, social life, or career goals like most young women her age. Instead, she’s trying to save her mother from the grasp of a seductive cult. What Tally doesn’t realize is that in this community, there’s a far greater danger than any she can imagine–and she and her mother aren’t the only ones in its sights. There are plots brewing here that will threaten the fate of the world.

Concert pianist Liesl Bower has put her own dangerous past behind her, and in her Charleston family home, surrounded by those who love her, she’s preparing for a world concert tour with her dear friend, violinist Max Morozov. She thinks she’s safe; the man who tried to kill her is dead, his co-conspirators have been rounded up, and no one knows she had anything to do with saving the world from a new revolution.

That is, until a world leader is assassinated on the other side of the globe, setting events into motion that could kill the U.S. president, destroy Washington–and take everything and everyone Liesl loves with it.

World domination, Assassination and religious cults are just some of what has to be dealt with in this chilling conclusion of this first-rate series. Political intrigue and suspense saturates “Deeper Than Red”. There is a madman who has the ability to take over, destroy the U.S. and restore the Soviet Union. It is all hands on deck as the small team has to band together to stay alive and defeat him. “Red Dawn Rising” is almost a non-stop action thriller. Ms. Duffy has put in so many twists and turns in her story that it would make a roller coaster envious. Max, Tally and Lisel are wonderful characters that we care about, want to see escape the danger that they find themselves in and want them to succeed. Sue Duffy has given us a unique thriller that will keep you on the edge of your chair as you read and flip pages as fast as possible. I recommend this book highly and look forward to more from this highly talented author!

This is book three in the Red Returning Trilogy. A great book for those that love a great suspense mystery book. It is well written, and keeps the reader intrigued.

Author Sue Duffy continues with her Russian conspirator series, and has done a great job once again, keeping the romance and thrills with the government, murder, occult and mystery. This will be a great read for the summer, it's a fast and easy read.

I believe that there is a little of everything in this book that will keep audience of all ages, and this book would suite almost anyone.

In Deeper Than Red, a diverse group of people spread out over the world must join together to help foil a Russian plot to kill the President of the United States and start another war. There is the concert pianist who has helped prevent previous assassinations from happening, who needs to feed any information she can collect to the President himself. Then there is a twenty-year-old girl in Florida who inadvertently sees something she shouldn’t have while spying on a colony of mediums. With other characters thrown into the mix, they all play an important part of capturing the man behind the conspiracy, while discovering more about themselves along the way.

This book was the third in a trilogy, of which I hadn’t read the first two. Because of this, I found the beginning to be very confusing and it took me a while to sort out the characters and the parts they had played in the previous two books. I also found the Russian names hard to pronounce and hard to remember, which helped add to the confusion. The book also jumped around a lot amongst all the different characters which was a little hard to follow sometimes. It took me a while to get into the book but about half way through, I got really wrapped up in the story line and couldn’t put it down. There were definite plot twists that I didn’t see coming and the ending wasn’t what I expected either. Despite my confusion and surprise from this book, I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. I would have loved to have read the first two books before reading this one, as I think it would have helped me follow along more easily.

DEEPER THAN RED is the third book in the Red Returning series by Sue Duffy. Though this installment went a little slower, and was a little more difficult to get in to, I’m glad I stuck with it because the ride was worth the wait.

Liesl Bower had hopes that espionage, assassinations, and diabolical plots were behind her. But once again, she and Max Morozov are right in the middle of an international plot with explosive proportions. Not the likely life for a pianist and violinist, but here they are again, trying to figure why they are still targeted by a man that is supposedly dead.

Tally Greyson will do whatever necessary to get her mother out of the clutches of Vandoren, a man steep in mind control and the occult. When she finds an unexpected ally, Tally feels she has a chance. But when even stranger happenings draw the interest of the FBI to the medium community, she realizes her mother is in even more danger than first thought.

DEEPER THAN RED is so intricately woven together, you have to pay attention to every sigh and every silent glance. Liesl and Cade are wonderful together. And the secondary characters of Henry, Ian, Max, and Evgeny, add layers to an already multi-layered conspiracy. I did find the beginning difficult to get into, and with so many characters, especially with Russian names, it made it hard to keep all the characters straight. But once the story gained momentum it was easy to stay in the rhythm of the story. I’m not usually drawn to political dramas, but DEEPER THAN RED had the right amount of romance, edge, and twists to keep me interested.

This book would be great for anyone who loves adventure or spy thrillers. There was much going on, with several different scenarios at the same time. The book has several settings in America, as well as Europe. The author did a very good job of telling about the characters and the back story behind each of them.

The main character is a pianist, Liesl, who was brought into the spy world by accident. She is a very brave heroine and does what she can to stand for what is right. She is a Christian and often prays for those around her.

One of the characters is entrenched in a spiritualist camp and her daughter is desperately trying to save her. Even though this is a fictional book, I know there are people who believe in psychics and have séances and this part of the story is very real. There is a Christian man in the camp who is watching out for the daughter and tries to get her to see the Light and help her save her mom.

The international ties in the book are between the president of the United States and his half brother, a Russian, who was an illegitimate son of his father.

There are many other characters who add to the excitement of this book. Two of my favorites are the father of Liesl and her husband's grandfather. They are a pair and do what they can to help protect Leisl.

I really enjoyed this book and want to go read the first two in the series! (reviewed by T.Lyles, teacher)

Reading book 3 in the “Red Returning Series” by Sue Duffy brought this series to its conclusion and did not disappoint. I previously read the first two books and each time my appetite was whetted for more. These stories about world-class concert pianist, Liesl Bower and her friend and violinist, Max Morozov from Israel, being involved in international intrigue grabs one’s interest and also makes the reader want to listen to the classics referred to in the story.

The story this time is set primarily in the Florida Keys with touches in Charleston, South Carolina, which is Liesl’s home. But the intrigue is played out on the stages of Washington, Russia, and Germany. The Florida connection is a bizarre physic community with clientele ties with Russia. Dark, evil forces are at play a bit different from the usual political intrigue.

Double agents, spies, and bodyguards from all angles and countries. Twists and turns with the flip of the page. But for those who trust in God, a sense of security prevails.

This story has two charming old codgers who take it upon themselves to get involved. A charming "plus" in the story.

A good read and a good conclusion to Red Returning.

Now that you have read my review, I invite you to listen to "The Theme from Schindler's List" because the end of Deeper Than Red captures the emotion of Max, a Jew, returning to the site of so much of Hitler's spewed hatred toward the Jewish peoples. Now listen and feel the pathos. http://youtu.be/5KrVztcBYg4

There is nothing more delightful than finding a good espionage thriller to kick off the summer. If you enjoy high-stakes drama involving massive amounts of political intrigue and suspense, then add Deeper Than Red by Sue Duffy to your list of books to read this season!

Deeper Than Red is the final book in the Red Returning trilogy – and my one disappointment is that I did not discover the series sooner! Award-winning writer Sue Duffy grabs your attention from the first paragraph and never lets go, with her twist-laden plot and her intriguing characters, who include a concert pianist who can’t seem to escape her spy-laden past… a young girl who is trying to save her mother from the grips of a seductive and powerful cult… and madmen who will stop at nothing to achieve their diabolical agendas, which include assassinating the president of the United States and seeing the Soviet Union return to its former glory.

Although each book in the Red Returning series is written to stand alone, they are all interconnected, and if you enjoy this genre, you’d probably enjoy starting the series from the beginning and building up to the thrilling culmination that awaits you in Deeper Than Red. Otherwise – feel free to jump into the action – Deeper Than Red does not disappoint!

Deeper Than Red is the third and final book in this riveting, and page turning series. How we take our every day life for granted, and when reading these books it becomes a real eye opener of the possibilities that have a true ring to them.
We all know that evil walks here, Satan is always ready to grab you, and this place in the FL Keys is fictional, but oh how I believe it is somewhere! We are told that he is after us, and yet do we think so, No, but we put names and faces to him in this book.
After three books where we hold on to the book tightly, hoping that nothing will happen to Liesl and her talented friend Max, we are experiencing it again. Also the President, Nolan, and such hate his half brother has for him, and we learn that not everything was rosy for Nolan.
Power is all-important here in the quest for world domination, and innocent people have no value, so very sad. Once this final book is picked up, you cannot stop turning the pages to see who is going to win, and survive. I wish there were more, and don’t fret if you haven’t read the first two books, this one allows you to get caught up in all the action, but do yourself a favor and enjoy the first two, you won’t be disappointed!

I truly enjoy stories penned by Sue Duffy. I enjoyed reading the first two books in this Red Burning trilogy.
Deeper Than Red is the third book in this trilogy and probably my favorite of all three reds (reads, *punny)!
All three Red Burning books are inter-related. So, yes, it would be recommended to read them all in order. But, yet, there are three different ladies with three different issues/problems to be solved.
In Deeper Than Red, a cult that seems to good to be true, a young lady with only her mother's well being at heart, and a world leader who somehow seems connected to it all. Also, we meet Tally Greyson whom is trying to tie this all together. I like Tally for she is tough and spunky with enough guts to know when to be afraid and when to ask for help.
And then concert pianist, Liesl Bower, from the previous story is back as she prepares for an upcoming piano concert with violinist, Max Morozov. It's interesting how Ms. Duffy takes one story and ties it into the next. Related and mysterious!
I love the action, suspense and mystery with a biblical basis that is written into these fantastic christian suspense reads! The romance is low key and does not over shadow the suspense/mystery of all that is happening.
If you love a good, clean suspense read with christian values and light romance then this is the read for you!

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Deeper Than Red deals with a lot of different situations, and when you start reading, it is very difficult to put down. I found the terrorism against the US, and all of the difficulties that came with it to be a very interesting and different story to read. There are a lot of twists and turns throughout Deeper Than Red, which I loved! By the time I thought I had one thing figured out there was another twist to the story that triggered by imagination! I have to admit that the scenes that took place at an occult spiritualist camp were a little different for me, because I just don’t like reading about stuff like that, but all in all, the author did a good job of describing it in a way that I could better understand! But truly the thing that I appreciated about the story was the way the author weaves together the need to trust God in the mist of our difficulties and struggles. If you enjoy a good suspenseful book to read, you will enjoy this one by Sue Duffy.

Deeper Than Red is the final book in the magnificent Red Returning trilogy. I immensely loved how Sue Duffy was very descriptive in describing the numerous suspense-filled scenes. I thought she did a superb job in intertwining all three books in the trilogy together and she is a very creative author. Having read the other two novels, Sue Duffy did a major switch up that honestly, I didn’t see coming in this book. She added a psychic and an occult aspect to the plot and it helped to reinforce that we are in a fight against spiritual forces but the light always wins. I like how this novel touched on faith and how they had to trust God and rely on their faith during tough times. I also liked that it had some romance spread throughout along with a political theme.

I would recommend this series to anyone who loves a fantastic thrilling trilogy! And readers won’t be disappointed with the action packed mystery! I’m excited to see what new trilogy Sue Duffy comes up with next!

This series has been fun! Anything involving spies, covert operations and the Russians has to be a good plot, right? Sue Duffy wraps up her trilogy with her latest book, Deeper than Red. Liesl just can't seem to be done with the spy life. She is yet unknowingly still a target and all she desires is to get on with life. I think Sue Duffy did a great job wrapping up all the loose ends and putting a finale to her series. I didn't walk away feeling like the story was left undone. The twists and turns in the story were again great making you wonder who was really behind the newest plot. Sue Duffy kept the story line alive and moving all the way throughout the book. So, if you're looking for a fun exciting series, make sure to pick up Red Returning trilogy this summer.

This is a great end to the trilogy. There is a new character introduced, a young woman trying to rescue her mother from a seductive cult. It turns out the leader in the cult is part of a much larger evil plan to attack the U.S. Liesl is back but not so much a major part of the action. There are plenty of spies and double agents and lots of action. There is also the theme of forgiveness and healing after the Holocaust. The characters are well done and I loved Ian and Henry. Great old codgers who helped saved the day.

This book did take me quite a long time to get into, but once it gets going it has a lot of suspense a good spy story. The only thing I wasn't too keen on was the spiritualist stuff in it, pity that couldn't of been left out.

I won this in the Goodreads Giveaway a while ago, but have only just got around to reading this enjoyable book by Sue Duffy. Despite being a little lost with some of the characters at the beginning, I soon managed to work out who was who. I hope to read the first two books soon.
