I really liked this collection of stories. Family Tradition had a nice twist at the end which I did not expect. Also liked that one of the characters appeared in two of the stories in the collection which showed the evolution of that character also. I would have given more stars than one but looks like Goodreads changed their rating system maybe?

I downloaded this collection and immediately I was impressed. Not only has the author created a believable setting for the stories, Jefferson Falls, but also created believable characters both human and meta human. Mr. Byrns kept the stories tight and what I enjoyed was that he didn't deviate from the main characters POV. What the narrator or main character knew of the meta humans was all that we knew and it helped establish a sense of realism as whenever we are witnesses to an event, we don't know the full story. The author gave enough description of the heroes and villains for the reader to form a picture but left a lot to the reader's imagination which I enjoyed. Overall this was a fantastic collection of stories and I will definitely be checking out more of the author's work and hope there will be more tales involving the characters he has created.
