Always a daydreamer, and often scolded for it by the grandmother who raised her, Norah Hess always wanted to be a writer. At eighteen, she was sent to Chicago to live with an aunt after her grandmother's death. It was there that she met her husband. After raising three children, Norah decided to write her first novel, and since then has had fifteen published romances. After her husband passed away, she and her two cats moved to Palm Springs, where the desert and mountains inspire her to write her Western romances.

I really enjoy this author's writing.

That being said this book had some problems. Editing issues aside, the major plot hole of the story really took away from the book.

The h is 17 and in love with the H and they are planning on getting married. The h's father doesn't want his daughter married to the H and tears them apart using manipulation and lies. The H believing the h is unfaithful and loves another leaves for 7 years. Unfortunately for the h, she discovers she's pregnant with his baby. So of course she wants him to know and writes him a letter to which he doesn't respond, because, well her father again. Of course she doesn't know the H never got her letter.

All understandable until the H returns after his long hiatus when suddenly the h decides that he shouldn't know about Jory being his son or he'll take him away from her. What? She even mentions that he never responded to her letter where she informs him he's going to be a father. So either he knows and doesn't care in which case it doesn't matter because he won't take Jory away from her, or, he doesn't know and therefore never got her letter.

Now as this forms a major part of the angst between them, but also doesn't make any sense so it failed as a plot device.

We do get an hea, with the H admitting his love to her first which was nice.

Needs some editing to make more sense.

Tanner, Roxy, and son Jory...

This is a story of family, betrayal, and misunderstanding. The romance of teenagers to Adulthood these two people always loved one another male name Tanner and beautiful female used by her father, especially to draw attention to his business in the saloon unbeknownst to Roxy, by her beauty for male customers. Roxy father hated Tanner. This is a great story to read. You can read about their seven year old son Jory did without Tanner, after several, and he like Jory, the moment he saw him, and why he called a bastard by the town people???

OK I guess. When you think about it interference from a family member or misunderstanding can destroy love even in todays world. This story is about that, love that once was, then lost and then found again. How she suffered because she ended up unwed and pregnant and he had no idea. How an interfering father destroyed a young blossoming romance leaving his daughter to suffer the consequences and her love a bitter man. HEA ending.

I bought this for the hilarious cover at a thrift store. Y'never know, though, right? The writing is overly descriptive: too much "moving the furniture". Couldn't read past the second page.

Another good one. I have read four Nora Hess books this week and each one is better than the last. All four have been excellent!
