Nationally known NPR on-air personalities share the lasting impressions made during interviews with a wide variety of exceptional individuals. Each story is introduced by the NPR host and offers a candid account of how the encounter was particularly meaningful to them. These are thought-provoking and emotionally resonant interviews with both the famous and the nearly anonymous; real people who reveal themselves over the course of a conversation in delightful, moving, and surprising ways.
If there were a way to make this CD set required listening, I'd be tempted to do it. The stories cut through ordinary life to lay bare the extraordinary things people are capable of, revealing the humanity within us all (speakers and listeners alike) in the process.
This is a collection of past NPR interviews gathered for their emotional impact. Each is a moving and/or inspiring story of ordinary individuals doing extraordinary things.
Living in the golden age of media consumption as we do, it’s quite nice to skip all the food prep and dive right into the tasty meat of poignant storytelling, reduced down like a fine french sauce to the best of the best in collections like this.
Uplifting audiobook. My favorite interviews were: Stephen King, a survivor of a 6 year long hostage situation, and a 12 y/o with incredible piano performance skills.
Powerful, insightful, emotional stories told by famous and should-be-famous people. I laughed, cried, and could not stop talking about this book while I was reading/listening to it.
