Julius and Avalynn's story is as lush with feels and emotions as it is thick with action and suspense. This is just the type of book that you sink into easily and eagerly let it wrap its tantalizing tendrils of a storyline around you so that you are luxuriating in your happy reading place. A truly awesome book and very swoon worthy.

December 19, 2023Em Petrova has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Avalynn and Julius. Julius is Avalynn's bodyguard and things are not going well. She has a stalker that leaves her death threats. He is out on tour with her and he gets a call from Clay, his boss, and told about a sex tape that was leaked out with Avalynn. He goes to tell her about the tape and she doesn't remember anything about the tape. After everyone sees the tape, it is realized that she is not moving or making any sounds in the tape. Avalynn's PR team comes up with a plan to explain the tape and it is that she is engaged. Julius steps up to be her fake fiance. It is planned that they stay engaged until her stalker is caught. Julius knows that he is not good enough for Avalynn and he tries to not fall for her. When her stalker gets into their suite's bedroom with her while Julius is out in the living room talking to his boos, Julius gets mad and thinks he let her down. They all make plans to leak their engagement to the media and hopefully flush out her stalker. Avalynn is to make an appearance at a festival but when the festival wouldn't allow Avalynn's team to up security Julius cancels Avalynn's appearance. When she hears this, she lets Julius have it. He finally agrees to let her go. Things escalate while they are at the festival. A guy that Avalynn dated is caught and Julius goes to question him. While he was gone, he told Avalynn to stay on the bus until he came back. She gets a text message from Julius asking her to meet him. When she gets to the meeting spot, it is not Julius there to meet her. She gets knocked out and taken.

This author has brought another phenomenal and absolutely perfect story. Shotgun Wedding Cowboy is gripping, compelling, heart-pounding, page-turning mystery and addictive, dangerous romance.

I enjoyed a slow and steady build-up, their gradual change, development and feelings which grew the more they were spending time together. They challenge each other and make each other better. Neither of them liked being vulnerable nor admit the attraction. Julius is very protective of her. Julius and Avalynn are explosive, perfectly imperfect and a rollercoaster of emotions. Their transformation and development throughout the book is incredible.
So well-written, rewarding, enjoyable and entertaining.

Julius and Avalynn
This book felt like it started in the middle of the plot. I felt like I was missing some key information. Like how Julius became Avalynn’s bodyguard and even the story behind Julius’ friendship with Kingsley. I wouldn’t say those gaps took away from the plot, but I do feel like it would have added some depth to the story and to Julius’ character.
Julius is working as Avalynn’s bodyguard. The famous country star has a stalker that he and the Sentry team are trying to find. When a sex tape is released, Julius and Avalynn decide to fake an engagement and wedding to keep her reputation in tact. Julius falls hard and fast for Avalynn. And Avalynn falls just as fast for her big, protective, bodyguard.
Julius showed his love for Avalynn in all the ways that count. It was really the little things with him, like knowing how she took her tea and when she needed someone to hold on to. He made their “fake” engagement special and planned their whole wedding with her in mind. He could have taken the easy way out and just gotten married in Vegas, but Julius wanted to make Avalynn happy and give her a wedding she would love, even if it was supposed to be fake.
I loved the connection between Julius and Avalynn. They spend so much time alone together and knew each other so well before they started their “fake” relationship. Julius was the protector Avalynn needed and Avalynn brought out that side of Julius.
I liked the suspense with the stalker. The ending was pretty intense. I liked how everything ended up and I loved the camaraderie between Julius’ team. The romance was a little cheesy at times, but did add some light to the story.

This book about Julius and Avalynn squishes out the edges of the chemistry between these two. Julius has been Avalynn’s body guard for six months and the attraction escalates as they realize their feelings for each other are real but do not know how to convey them. There is lots of action and intrigue as a stalker releases a fake sex tape of Avalynn in order to ruin her reputation. The Team gets involved as well as the FBI to try to solve this problem as well as protect Avalynn. Julius steps up to become the fake fiancee for their engagement and marriage to keep her safe. Julius has a real romantic streak that surfaces as he realizes his attraction is real and now has to make Avalynn his forever after for real. Lots of attraction and closeness between the two as they negotiate their feelings and how to convey them. There is lots of angst and heat in this book as well as questions as to whether they can survive their feelings and how will Avalynn be safe. There are great characters both old and new that make this story such a readable story that you don’t want to end. This is an intense and passionate tale of true romance that has lots of seduction and heat. This book is rough and gentle all at once - really a treat to read and hope the next book in the series comes out soon. This book had it all - action, love, alpha man, love interest, suspense, chemistry and lots of emotional ups and downs. I received an ARC of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review. Avalynn is a famous singer who has been receiving death threats. When a dirty video is leaked to the press, threatening to damage Avalynn’s wholesome girl image, her bodyguard Julius proposes to be her fake fiancé to save her image and thus her career. Except the feelings the two have towards each other are not that fake, just like the threat to Avalynn’s life isn’t fake…
I liked the book overall. The hero and heroine are strong, relatable and interesting people and their developing feelings are a sweet thing to witness. It’s not a sappy story though, there’s plenty of steam and a lot of plot action in the book too to keep up the interest till the end. There were some things that felt way over the top for me, like some of the showbiz stuff and the ending but this is entertainment, after all, not a documentary so it is okay. So if you’re in the mood for an action romance with a protective alpha hero and a strong heroine, this one is for you.
This was my first read by this author and even though it is the third book in the series, it can be really read as a standalone. There is a multitude of side-characters from other books, but their backstories are briefly explained so nothing is confusing. The other Sentry guys and their ladies sounded awesome though so it looks like I’m gonna read the first two books too.

Oh, it’s her on the tape but is she even awake… and who’s the guy with the tiny limp …? The Sentry team concocts a scheme to keep Avalyn’s reputation clean and draw out the bad guy. She will become engaged to and then marry Julius! He fits the physicality of the perp in the sex tape… except for the tiny part.
Avalyn feels safe and comfortable with Julius. She also admires his gorgeous hard body and knows he will protect her from any danger. Julius will not let anyone near his wonderful Avalyn. This fake arrangement will be very easy because of his attraction to her but also extremely hard because there will be an end date to the relationship. As this sham took root, Julius and Avalyn crossed serious lines. Could a relationship between them be real? I loved this action-packed romance full of great characters. Julius is the man we all really want. The caregiver who turns protector when needed.
I love all the West Protection characters. The Sentry series is one of my favorites. These men and women are all a little extra and give you all the great tingles. There hasn’t been one book in the series that I haven’t been able to put down until I finished it no matter the time. These characters pull you in and make you root for them all the way.
Julius Abel never expected his assignment to need him to marry his charge. He did know no one else would be in charge of keeping her alive and safe.
Avalynn Ray is lost when Julius joins her team. She realizes that the only time she ever feels safe is when Julius is with her. When everything ramps up and her career is on the line once again Julius jumps in to safe everything for her. The mothers bring the laughter to the forefront. Love them.
By moving forward with their plan to get her stalker to show himself they both realize what they would never admit. Love is what pulls them together and how when this is over will either of them ever live without the other.

Shotgun Wedding Cowboy the third book Em Petrova’s WEST Protection Sentry series. It is an amazing romance novel filled with suspense, great chemistry, interesting characters, and a fantastic storyline.
I loved the slow burn attraction that developed between Julius Abel (Sentry Task force member and bodyguard) and Avalynn Ray (country music sweetheart). It developed slowly and seemed to take both characters by surprise, although everyone else saw it clearly. The focus of the story was on protecting Avalynn and finding out who was behind the threats and the release of a sex-tape. I enjoyed reading how Julius and Avalynn began to realize that their feelings for each other was much more than “ward” and bodyguard. Julius was the perfect blend of alpha male, protector and sweet gentleman.
As always Petrova does an amazing job writing about the explosive chemistry between her characters as well as the detailed and steamy scenes she describes between them. Her storylines and plot twists leave the reader coming back for more. I can’t wait to read more about the Jenning’s story. I hope it is released soon.

A suspenseful storyline that jumps right into the action. Julius has been working as a bodyguard for country music’s sweetheart, Avalynn Ray for the last six months.
Having not read the prior 2 books in this series, I’m not sure if any of their story was introduced by in the earlier books, but I found it a little awkward to jump into a story where the characters have been in such close proximity and under stressful conditions. I like to get to know the characters as they get to know each other. It’s not a huge deal and not much of an issue, just a quirk of mine.
The storyline moves along at a pretty fast pace and other than the stalker being suspected of releasing a sex tape with Avalynn and previously sending death threats, not much focus is placed on the actual threat, but on Julius’ and his teams reaction to the ongoing threat to Avalynn.
A marriage of convenience/PR fix quickly turns real as Avalynn and Julius begin to recognize they’ve been falling for each other gradually over the 6 months he has been her bodyguard. I loved the effort Julius puts into the details to make Avalynn happy or to surprise her with such romantic gestures!

The latest installment in Em Petrova’s West Protection Sentry series is a fun quick steamy read. We’ve goyyen to know Julius Abel and his brother Jennings in the first two Sentry books. This story begins with Julius already being country sensation Avalynn Ray’s bodyguard for six months. She had been dealing with threats from a stalker but when the threats escalated to the release of a sex tape (even though she had been drugged and was unconscious during the molestation) all bets were off. Julius quickly realized that the body type of the rapist matched his (to a certain extent) and a plot was quickly hatched with Sentry and her PR team to spin the vicious tape into the accidental release of a private moment between an engaged couple. Things move at a breakneck pace from there and the couple wind up married (and professing their love) as the Sentry team and FBI try to catch the stalker. Lots of action and intrigue along with a some chuckles.
This can be read as a stand-alone but is better enjoyed a the subtext easier to follow if you read the first two books first. I was given an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the 3rd book in the West Protection Sentry series featuring the intense suspenseful fake engagement, bodyguard, stalker romance between Julius and Avalynn. As the newest member of Sentry Julius has been given his first assignment he's going to be guarding Avalynn Ray the hottest new artist in country music. A sex tape has has been released that Avalynn has no knowledge of so she assumes that whoever did it also drugged her. In order to restore her image there's a plan made for Julius to be more than her bodyguard he's now her fiance as well. The Sentry team feels that the best way to draw out Avalynn's stalker is with a wedding and the fact that Julius and Avalynn have such red HOT chemistry between them doesn't hurt. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this intense suspenseful, fake engagement, bodyguard, stalker romance to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book and I'm looking forward to the next book in this AMAZING series!.

Julius and Avalynn
This story was on FIRE! 🔥 what could a beautiful, wholesome, sweet, country music star have in common with a tough as nails , hardened security bodyguard? Not much at the start, but as time goes by, and they spend more time together, what is supposed to be a duty becomes real. This story unfolds with a beautiful relationship between Julius and Avalynn. She has a stalker, somebody who released a sex tape that she was clearly not conscious for. Julius is making it his mission to find out who hurt Avalynn and take them down. This story unfolded beautifully as their relationship blooms, but danger lurks at the edge. I loved hearing about all the former West protection sentry’s people, and the brothers that help form the security operation. I love everything this author writes and I cannot wait for the next book great, happy ending. You can read this alone, but I do recommend reading all the other stories before this one as it makes it that much richer. A plus!

You can read this alone, but I do recommend reading all the other stories before this one as it makes it that much richer. A plus!

This is a wonderful addition to the series. While this is the third in the series, you don't have to read the prior ones to fully understand and enjoy this one.
This is written in a dual POV format. That is a favorite of mine. Seeing the main characters' thoughts really help me to understand them and connect with them. It really makes the stories come alive and more enjoyable.
When does a ward become more? When country's sweetheart has a sex tape released of her. Her reputation as a wholesome girl is at risk. Young girls look up to her. Her career won't hold up. A ruse of deception of an engagement will help to restore her rep while hopefully bring her stalker out in the open. But will the fake feelings and story turn into something real?

Julius Abel is one of the Black Hat men of the FBI's Sentry unit which is an offshoot of the West Protection Agency. He has been guarding his ward, Avalynn Ray for six months and who is one of the hottest country music stars and America's darling. When a sex tape of hers is leaked (something she can't remember participating in), Julius and the team isn't sure whether this is the work of her starker or something new. During their time together, neither realized that they had started to have unspoken feelings for each other. No one is more surprised than him when Julius blurts out that he is willing to marry her, claim that he is the man in the video all in the hopes that she can retain her wholesome image. Great story and one where I was on the edge of my seat looking out for the next whiff of danger, whether they get their HEA and to hopefully find out who the stalker is.

Bodyguard Julian has been falling for his ward Avalynn for the past six months without noticing. The ways he takes care of her is very sweet. His pathetic attempts at pulling back are exactly that—pathetic. She is nice, very focused on her career and fans. She is his number one concern. Finding her stalker leads them to places they never expected. Once they give in to the first kiss—yumminess ensues. I kind of wish they had told what really happened to her behind the scenes because it could have happened to someone else. When the truths come out, it is pretty icky. I like that Julian and Avalynn put all their feelings on the table. Heidi is pretty annoying and needs to be given an attitude adjustment. Everyone else is pretty likeable. Enjoyable book and there is really no way of guessing who the stalker is, which was refreshing.

Avalynn has a stalker so Julius is assigned to her, and as things escalate it seems that the best PR solution would be for Avalynn and Julius to get engaged and married, and the formalities might not be real but all the feelings are.
I loved Avalynn and Julius, they had such amazing chemistry together, as the other characters from the previous books did, and it was nice to see them in this book too, and how Lark is still teasing Clay about his age. As with the other books, the story is a bit suspenseful, but also romantic, sweet and very sexy.
I loved the writing, and this series so much. The stories are all so engaging and captivating! I can't get enough of the Sentry guys but thankfully there will be more coming up!.

Julius was assigned for security of Avalynn, hot country singer. The possibility of an unknown sex tape coming into the public domain is a major threat to her carefully managed and controlled image. Whilst the couple have to be around each other, no doubt neither thought a secret engagement, fake or otherwise, would become an integral part of the job, being suggested and created for damage limitation. He fits the description of the person on the tape and she is easily identified.
Lots of drama as they try to flush out the stalker, but there is also heat between the couple which crosses the boundary bodyguard and celebrity status.
The author has again created an interesting and intriguing storyline.

Julius (love the name) the newest member to West Protection gets his first assignment, a country star sweetheart Avalynn Ray is being stalked and it's up to Julius to keep her safe and not fall for her. The stalker escalates his agenda and releases a sex tape that Avalynn didn't even know existed, now the darling of country music is in trouble. They enter into a fake engagement to help her reputation and of course fall in love. While this is a standalone it's much better to read them in order as other previous couples pop up here and there. This is an action story as well as a romance with a bit ***fans self*** heat. I love this series!.

This was a great story. Avalynn is a famous singer who has had a sex tape released that she knew nothing about. To help with Avalynn's sweet, wholesome image they decide to have Julius, who is her bodyguard, become her secret fiance. They have an intense engagement. The Sentry team that Julius works for is behind Avalynn and Julius to help keep Avalynn safe. With the time that they spend together the lines between fake and real begin to change. The chemistry between the two is hot and steamy. As their relationship grows deeper the danger rises. I love how Julius puts so much thought into making Avalynn happy. Find out if they catch the stalker and who it is. Wonderful suspenseful story.

Romantic Yet Action Packed!
The whole “bodyguard falls for ward” might be a romantic cliché, but it’s a tried and true trope for a reason - it’s romantic, the inherent danger intensifies emotions, plus bodyguards are generally muscly tough guys who are so much fun to watch falling in love. Avalynn and Julius story follows along these lines, although I appreciated that they had built their romance a bit more slowly, with Julius being her bodyguard for 6 months. I loved how romantic this story was, between the dreamy engagement, the fairytale wedding and the inspired honeymoon, this story oozed romance. Plus, Julius would do ANYTHING to make Avalynn happy. A beautiful story with an action packed ending.
