4 stars-I've only read the Cynthia Eden story which I loved. I've noticed that her heroes are getting a bit darker lately. I have to admit I kind of like it.

I love all of these authors, so I'll go back and read the rest of this later.

Sinful Seconds is the second anthology by the authors of Wicked Firsts, Elisabeth Naughton, Alexandra Ivy, Cynthia Eden, Laura Wright, Katie Reus and Joan Swan. I picked up this book because these authors are among my favorite to read. Sinful seconds did not disappoint. Each book in this anthology was between eight and fourteen chapters and a great read.

Sinful Surrender – Elisabeth Naughton – Aegis Security Series. Grace Ryder is a songwriter. She needs to write two more songs to fulfill her contract but has somehow lost her muse. She is staying at a hotel in Vail, Colorado, because not only has she lost her muse but she has found a stalker. Brian Walker, works for Grace’s brother at Aegis Security. He was sent to Vail to look out for Grace (unbeknownst to her) by her brother. He is just supposed to keep an eye on Grace. However, Grace noticed Brian around the ski lodge. She approaches him in the hotel bar – there seems to be an instant attraction. Brian is in trouble – he can’t let Grace know he works for her brother – but he is really attracted to her too. There was suspense and danger all wrapped up in one little story.

Sinful Rapture – Alexandra Ivy – The Rapture Series. Holly Sullivan has always lived her life to please her father. She went into business to follow in his footsteps – taking him at his word that he would let her be in charge of his casino. She even went as far to get engaged to a man that she knew he would approve of. Holly is destined for disappointment – instead of putting her in charge of the casino her father sells it to Liam Connor. Holly feels nothing but animosity towards Liam (since he took, in her mind, what should be hers). Liam has loved/lusted for Holly since the first time he saw her at a charity function. Holly gets stood at the altar by her “perfect man”. Her friends convince her to spend her wedding night at the Playhouse (a sex club outside of Vegas). She goes and who does she see at the club but Liam. Liam knows that this is his chance and he seizes the opportunity to make Holly his. However, there are secrets that Liam is keeping and this leads to misunderstands between Liam and Holly. This was a good story. Well written, very sexy and fun.

Sinful Secrets – Cynthia Eden – After a whirlwind week-long romance, Catherine Donnelly spent one night with Jason August but she left him sleeping in bed, feeling betrayed and hurt. Fast forward a year. Catherine is back in Las Vegas because she is being blackmailed with the release of pictures of her and Jason August from that fateful night. Jason and her family are both in the restaurant business. Jason (due to something her father had done in the past) will do almost anything to put her family out of business. Catherine has nothing to do with the family business. Jason has been waiting a year for Catherine to be back in his town and now that she is – he is not going to let this opportunity go to waste. Catherine’s father and brother find out about their relationship – neither one is happy about her being with their competitor. There is also the matter of the blackmailer. Who? Why? Great suspense and a definite heat level to this story. I hope that this is not the last we hear from these characters.

Sinful in Spurs – Laura Wright – Sawyer Black, besides bull riding has one mission in life, watching out for Keely O’Hare, his best friend’s sister. He promised that he would keep an eye on things while Keely’s brother is deployed overseas. Keely, sick and tired of being treated like a child, takes off from college to spend the weekend at the Playhouse, a Las Vegas sex club. Meanwhile Sawyer, have lost a bull riding competition heads to Keely’s house to check on her – he waits around a little and finds her gone. Needless to say he tracks her down in Las Vegas and tries to get her to return home. She is having none of it – if she can’t have Sawyer then she will certainly have someone else who will fulfill the darker needs that she has. Sawyer does not want her to be with anyone else – he has been fighting his attraction to Keely for a long time. He is afraid that he will lose the only family he had ever known if he takes things too far. This was a hot, sexy, well written story.

Sinful Seduction – Katie Reus – Red Stone Security Service – this is the story of Mina Hollingsworth and Alexander Blue. Mina (whose father is very wealthy) moved to Key West to live a somewhat normal life as an artist. Blue is in Key West on some R&R after just completing a case for Red Stone Security. Mina is the object of an attempted kidnapping, which Blue interrupts and foils. Mina really seems to fall for Blue from the beginning. Blue also feels the attraction but is hesitant to act upon it. Blue thinks that Mina needs protection, as he feels that this kidnapping attempt was made by professionals. Mina, in the meantime is trying to get ahold of her father and his security people with no success. Feelings between Mina and Blue develop quickly. There are some misleading clues and questions about loyalty. This was a hot, sexy story. The suspense was well written. The characters and their interactions were realistic.

Sinful Deception – Joan Swan – Covert Affairs – Marcus Lucero and Tova Sorenson. Tova had the good fortune of being born an anchor baby, her younger brother did not. Tova is attending college in the United States and working to earn money to send to her parents in Mexico and trying to earn extra to pay someone to bring her brother across the border. To earn this extra money a friend talks her into trying to earn extra money by making sexcam videos. The same premise as the phone but using private video chat rooms. Marcus, who hasn’t had a date in forever, because he’s so busy with work stumble upon Tova struggling with getting her laptop camera set up for the video. Marcus, being a cop, points out to Tova all that he learned about her from the video, which is pretty scary. He ends up buying her a pre-paid phone card and sending her his phone number. Their relationship develops very quickly from there. Definitely hot and steamy with some twists and turns thrown in.

Another excellent anthology. With these great authors it had to be :). I enjoyed all of the stories. They were all very different. It was also really nice to see some old friends sort of pop up within the reads.

SINFUL SURRENDER by Elisabeth Naughton
In each of these novelettes about the agents who work for Jake Ryder at Aegis the author gives us a perfect blend of suspense and off the charts sexy romances. This one is about Jake’s sister Grace. It seems she has a stalker of sorts and with her aversion to dealing with anyone in the security field her brother secretly assigns Brian Walker to watch her. Brian has been emotionally closed off for so long that his sudden attraction to this woman who is hands off as she is the boss sister is shocking to him. And when this sweet and naive woman comes on to him wanting a one night stand his resolve doesn’t last very long. It’s not long though before they are reminded that Grace has a stalker and wants her dead.

SINFUL RAPTURE by Alexandra Ivy
Holy smoking hotness.. This one will have you squirming in your chair. After being left at the altar Holly Sullivan’s friend who owns a sex club called The Playhouse convinces her to come and forget about the loser who dumped her. What she didn’t know is that her friend had also informed Laim Conner who Holly hates because her father sold him the casino she thought would one day be hers. But these two have known for a year that there was a spark between them and Liam is tired of waiting for Holly and decides he is going to get her ultimate surrender. But secrets and Holly’s insecurities threaten the life that Liam wants to have with Holly.

SINFUL SECRETS by Cynthia Eden
Even in a short novel Cynthia Eden can give intense. A year ago Catherine Donnelly not only had a hot night of wild sex but she also married the man that was the enemy. She ran out on him the next morning. Now she is back in Vegas because someone is threatening to show a video of that night to world which would ruin her family. She thinks’ its her husband but its not. Jason August has had one goal in mind since he was a boy – to destroy the man responsible for ruining his family – and that man is Cat’s father. He never expected when he met her that she would be his soul mate. He made a mistake and let her go a year ago but now that she is back he is going to do everything within his power to keep her. There is quite a bit of suspense and body count in the web of deceit the blackmailer has cast. This was tough, edgy and smoking in the bedroom scenes – loved it..

SINFUL IN SPURS by Laura Wright
The bones of this story were good but it felt choppy and the extreme quick emotional changes of the characters were too quick even for a short novella. We get a short glimpse of Sawyer Black at the end of a bull riding competition. He’s a previous champion who hasn’t been performing as well lately. He grew up with his best friend’s family and while his friend is overseas serving he asks Sawyer to watch over his sister Keely. Keely is in her senior year of college and is ready to examine the kinkier side of life at a BDSM club. When Sawyer finds out where Keely is he storms into the club to bring her home but Keely refuses to go and makes an offer to Sawyer. Seems these two have been harboring feelings for the other but Sawyer doesn’t want to disrespect his best friend by starting something with his sister and Keely feels Sawyer will never see her as anything but in a sisterly way. She couldn’t be more wrong and once she breaks down his resistance his inner Dom comes out and the sex is explosive.

SINFUL SEDUCTION by Katie Reus
Mina is hiding out in a Florida town trying to live a normal life far from the one she had growing up with a famous family. Alexander Blue saw too much death during his days in the Marines which left scars on his soul. Even his job with Red Stone Security is leaving him melancholy. Its not until he sees a woman being mugged and jumps in that something slowly awakens in him by the woman he just saved. When he gets the feeling that there was more to what happened to Mina that just a mugging he decides he is going to stick close to her.

SINFULLY SCANDALOUS by Joan Swan
A new novelette from the Covert Affairs series.. Marcus Lucero has been working nonstop at his job as a border patrol agent. His coworkers think he needs to get laid and suggest he log onto a sexcam site. Tova Sorenson is the only one of her family that is a US citizen. She is in college and working while also trying to save enough money to bring her brother over from Mexico. When her friend tells her she can make quick money by working on a sexcam website she decides she will try it after all you don’t have to meet anyone in person. Marcus happens to be her first customer and it’s a humorous first meeting. The two end up connecting and texting before “meeting” again online when two men break into her room and kidnap her all with Marcus watching and not being able to do anything.. From here we get to see some old friends from the previous books – ICE agents – come in to help. This was a good suspense along with plenty of sexy moments.

sinful seconds....flipping great so far! (reading out of order, but they are all stand alones) all these books are related in that they are set in, around, or talk about Playhouse, a high class sex club in Vegas. (Wicked Firsts was a tattoo shop)

Sinful Surrender, an novella from Elisabeth Naughton, from the Aegis Security guys. short, sexy read, with a twist I did not see coming, but some others might. Grace is on a short break, hiding from a stalker. her brother sends one of his guys to keep an eye on her, but Grace takes a fancy to him, and Brian has no idea what hits him. secrets and lies abound, but one thing is clear, when Grace's stalker turns nasty, Brian knows that he will do anything to protect Grace.

Sinful is Spurs, by Laura Wright. Keely has took off for a few days away from home, and a little bit of research. Sawyer is supposed to be watching her while her brother is away, and her parents are cruising, but how can he do that, if she doesn't tell him where she is! when he finds her, all the pent up feelings and emotions are released, and they are super sexy together!

Sinful Rapture, by Alexandra Ivy. after being jilted at the alter, Holly is dragged by her friend to Playtime, a sex club, to let loose and have a good time. last person she expects to come across is Liam, who she hates with a passion for buying her father's business, that should have been hers. Liam, however, knew she would be there, said friend text him and told him. He has plans for Holly, and they don't include her hatred. He has lusted after her for the past year, and now, finally he gets his chance.

Sinful Secrets, by Cynthia Eden. Cat had a week of passion, a marriage, and then...she found something that could save her family business. Jason knew she would return to Vegas one day, and when she did, he would be waiting, and she wasn't going to leave him again. But when Cat's life is threatened, he will stop at nothing to keep her safe.

Sinful Seduction, by Katie Reus. after an attempted Kidnapping, Blue rescues Mina. when it becomes clear they will try again, Mina hires Blue, and the company he works for, Redstone Security. But their feelings and attraction is hard to fight, and Blue removes himself from her detail...and installs himself in her heart.

Sinful Deception, by Joan Swan. needing cash, Tova tries sex camming. needing to get laid, Marcus is persuaded to also try sex camming, at the opposite end to Tova's first time. When Marcus witnesses at attempt on Tova's life, he pulls out all the stops, and then discovers why she has been threatened!

these books are short in both length and time span involved, all take place over a few days, a week at most. what they ARE NOT lacking, is punch. sex. hot hunky males. feisty females. plot lines.

an absolutely super follow up collection to Wicked Firsts, and here's hoping to a third collection!

4-4.5 "TOTALLY WORTH IT" STARS

I've had this anthology on my wish list for a while and was waiting for it to go on sale but got impatient. I was happy to see it was lendable and was able to borrow it instead of having to keep waiting for it to go on sale. This anthology had a few of my "must read" authors and that fact that all of them are together in one collection is awesome!

I haven't read all of the stories but here are some brief thoughts on what I have read

Sinful Surrender by Elizabeth Naughton
I've read Elizabeth Naughton before and enjoyed what I read but I have to admit, she wasn't a "must read" for me. However, out of the stories I've read in this collection, Sinful Surrender is my favorite. Naughton really nails it. The characters have great chemisty and I was smiling throughout the story. The story isn't over the top steamy compared to some books I read but I thought it was pretty sexy and the sexy was well done =) I'm looking forward to reading her new romantic suspense series coming out in July, the first book will be Extreme Measures. I consider this to be an intro to that series.

Sinful Secrets by Cynthia Eden
Now Cynthia Eden is a "must read" for me and while I liked the story, it was my least favorite of the collection. Fans of her "MINE" series will recognize the over the top alpha hero. And Eden even mentions Drake and his casino. I don't know why I didn't like this more. I just thought overall there was too much going on. I still liked it, just didn't love it.

Sinful Seduction by Katie Reus
I like the Red Stone Security series. Some stories I've liked more than others but as a whole, the series works for me. I think Sinful Seduction was one of my favorites in the Red Stone series (out of the books I've read). It wasn't really the sexiest or the steamiest but the characters worked for me and overall I enjoyed the story.

Sinful Deception by Joan Swan
I'm a big Joan Swan fan. She just never disappoints. As a big fan, I was surprised that I hadn't read anything in this series before (especially because I own Wicked First which has another story in this series in it!) I really enjoyed Sinful Deception, thought the characters had great chemistry and immediately went back to read the other books in this series.

For romantic suspense fans, I think this is one of the best anthologies out there. All the stories are from great writers and the ones I've read are all quality stories that stand on their own. I was able to borrow this collection but would have been happy if I paid for it as well. One of my favorite collections so far. I own Wicked First (the first anthology released by this same group of authors) but only read a couple of the stories from that collection when I purchased it. I'm definitely going back to check out the others.

Sinful Surrender by Elisabeth Naughton 3 1/2 stars
Songwriter Grace is working through some song-writer's-block at a resort in Vail. She's been eyeing a sexy guy all week and finally works up the nerve to approach him.
Brian is private security who's been hired (secretly by her brother) to watch Grace due to some threats she's received.
Grace is likable and so is Brian. They deal with the road bumps in a mature way without any silly drama. Smoking hot love scenes.

Sinful Rapture by Alexandra Ivy 3 stars
Holly is jilted on her wedding day and heads to the Playhouse to forget her troubles.
Her rich boss Liam has had his eye on her for a long time. Problem is, he bought her father's casino but kept her on and her disappointment at not having been given the business by her distant father has kept her disliking him.
There is hot sex in this story and Liam is a dreamy hero. Really did not like Holly, didn't hate her she was unworthy of Liam in my opinion.
Still, the story was entertaining.

Sinful Secrets by Cynthia Eden 3 1/2 stars
Cat returns to Vegas to confront a blackmailer and comes face to face with the past she's tried to put behind her, Jason. She thinks he betrayed her but can't deny the attraction is still unstoppable.
There are secrets and misunderstandings. The chemistry is explosive. I liked the two main characters but I didn't love them, wished for a bit more tenderness and less misunderstanding. Still, love Cynthia Eden no matter what.

Sinful in Spurs by Laura Wright 4 stars
Keely is ready to explore her sexual side, Sawyer, her brother's best friend is trying to keep thinking of her as his best friend's little sister and not a sexy young woman. When she takes off for Vegas looking for a decadent experience, Sawyer follows. When he finds her at the Playhouse she makes him a proposition since she has no intention of leaving and he has no intention of leaving without her.
Super sexy antics follow.

Sinful Seduction by Katie Reus 3 1/2 - 4 stars
Mina is being targeted for kidnapping. Ex Marine and current security guy Alex foils an attempted kidnapping and saves her. The attraction is instantaneous. This story flows well, everything happens a bit too quick to be believed but good writing and likable characters help keep the interest level high.

Sinful Deception by Joan Swan DNF
I couldn't get into this story and decided not to force myself to continue. It may be that I'm just on anthology overload but it just didn't grab me. Sorry.

Sinful Surrender (Aegis Security 0.6)

Grace is a too stupid to live heroine sucking back booze at a bar and letting her equally moronic best friend Holly goad her into picking up a stranger in a bar when she knows she has a stalker. This is a novella so naturally they hop into bed pretty damned quick. And the villain is ridiculously obvious. It's well written and the characters are well fleshed out for a short story, but it requires an extreme amount of willful suspension of disbelief.

Holly is having a bad year. Her father sells his business out from under her to a man she thinks she can't stand and today she's been jilted at the alter. She just wants to let her hair down at the club when in walks her new boss. Enter Liam, he's achieved all of life goals except one. This is a quick read with a bit of kink and some pretty extreme emotions.

Blackmail, intrigue, and passion. What happens when you accidentally marry your familial enemy? Apparently sparks fly. Jason's an over the top alpha male and Cat is a bit of a Mary Sue, but there's more action and plot twists than seems possible for such a short story. Cynthia Eden is always a must read.

Sawyer is a bull rider and Keely is his best friend's baby sister, and the woman he must can't get off his mind. He doesn't know about her interest in BDSM and is about t to get the surprise of his life.

I enjoyed the fact these two have so much history together. It made a nice juxtaposition between comfort and thrill. They weren't exploring something new and volatile with some random stranger in the night, but with a person they trusted absolutely. It felt like a natural progression of an existing relationship.

Sinful Seduction (Red Stone Security #8)

Mina is an artist hiding out from the noteriety of her wealthy father. Blue is a bodyguard and former Marine. He's also rather sweet and endearing, with just enough alpha to make him interesting. When he saves her from a kidnapping attempt they are almost immediately thrown into a high pressure situation and the sparks fly. There's just enough plot twist to make things interesting.

This is honestly one of the best collections- as is the first.

Why is that? I have not really figured it out. I just know that more often than not, if I buy an anthology, I end reading only one or two stories. But when I bought Sinful Seconds (as well as Wicked Firsts), I read all six stories and thoroughly enjoyed them.
Maybe what makes me like this collection is the tie that most of them do. All but one of the stories mentioned the Playhouse.

Did I have a favorite story? Mmmmmm, that would be a tough decision- I liked most of them- wasn't so fond of Sinful in Spurs, but the remaining five stories were great. Liam was pretty damned amazing from Elisabeth Naughton's story, but Jason (Cynthia Eden's character) and Alex (Katie Reus) ranked right up there with him.
I guess I can't really choose a favorite. :)

Would I recommend this collection? Hello? Ate you kidding? Of course, I would recommend it- and have recommended the first one.

If you like a collection of stories that have something tying them together, then this is one that you should get.

Sexy, steamy; very much liked Liam's character - arrogant, demanding, tender, caring.

SINFUL SECRETS by Cynthia Eden
Mystery/thriller. One of the steamiest books by Ms. Eden. This is part of her "Mine" series; I had previously read book 1 and found the male to be a bit too possessive for my tastes, but now I understand that's intentional. Realizing that will make it easier when reading other books in the series. As always, the suspense is great.

SINFUL IN SPURS by Laura Wright
Steamy. I'm finding I'm not a big fan of the cowboy genre.

SINFUL SEDUCTION by Katie Reus
Mystery/thriller; good suspense; steamy.

SINFUL DECEPTION by Joan Swan
Another excellent installment in the Covert Affairs series. Ms Swan writes rich characters, tight suspense, and steamy sex. I can't get enough!

Cynthia Eden - This was an interesting story and if you read the authors Mine series you will recognize one of the characters that shows up in passing. I felt bad for Cat, because it seemed like Jason was playing her. Just when they were getting along, Jason's actions made things worse. I did think it was very easy to figure out who the bad guy was, even thought most of the men weren't what you would call "good" guys. I think the ending was about the best that Cat could hope for.

Katie Reus - I think that both Mina and Blue were lost souls and needed each other. While I hated how they met, I was glad that they did. Mina needed someone to help her and Blue had the skills that she needed. With how things ended up both Mina and Blue have a bright future!

Just like with Wicked Firsts, I wanted to read this mostly for Naughton' s story. However, they were all wonderful. They only one that didn't click for me was Cynthia Eden' s story. I love how they all tie together, this time being The Playhouse located in Las Vegas, even if they don't all take place there. I definitely want to read more of Katie Reus' Red Stone Security series. Here's to hoping for a third.

Laura Wright's Sinful in spurs: 2/5* I'm sorry but just, BDSM's boring me...

Cynthia Eden's Sinful Secrets: 3/5* I liked it but really, nothing new and very predictable. There was what I call the "Eden's touch" with her very alpha male and I like that because the story feels so intense but really no surprise about the suspense part.

Sinful Surrender: Loved it. What a great quick read! I think Naughton's Novella's are my favourite. They feel like perfectly filled out stories. Looking forward to the next in the Aegis series... a full length book! OOh it shall be good!!!
