Has some good tips. Definitely a good place to pick up ideas and some encouragement. Realise every youth group is different and the book addresses this and attempts to still engage the different situations a youth group can encounter. Some parts may feel irrelevant due to this fact.

Addresses situations where youth leaders may be paid and encourages youth ministries to have budgets. I'm more in the "volunteer" and "happy to find out what we can do with no budget" group so that chapter and some other pages are slightly irrelevant in this case.

Despite being terribly dated, this book actually has some very helpful information for youth leaders in small churches. Chromey thinks about youth ministry well. He seems to do a good job of championing the value of small churches while addressing some of the challenges. His writing style was a bit tiring to me, though it is full of stories and is likely to appeal to a lot of people.

It had some great advice for people who are thrown into youth ministry, but for the youth pastor that is truly called by God it comes up short. I didn't expect it to be so weak and basic. I kept wanting it to go deeper. It also seemed to be an advertising scheme for GROUP publishing. This wasn't a terrible resource, but there are a lot better out there.
