Jun and Nene are best friends and they've learned that the key to their friendship is communication, support, and most importantly, love. They're always there for each other. And they show their commitment to each other through their emotions, actions, and intimacy.
I sped through the first volume of Maka Maka, but with the second volume I took it a little slower and paid more attention to each character. Jun is a fun-loving, inspiring person who wants to give love to everyone she meets and is a little self-conscience about her designs. Nene on the other hand is much more interdependent and although she has a boyfriend, the reader doesn't get the sense that she enjoys his company nearly as much as Jun. Nene is more emotional and less sure of herself. She's also almost always the instigator in their romantic liaisons. I would almost call her a lesbian, except labels suck and aren't always helpful. The two share a unique bond that's both reassuring and exciting. If you can get past the tremendous amount of sex in Maka Maka, it's really sweet and engaging.
i really wish there was a better conclusion to their story – ending it with only 2 volumes feels not only empty but also incomplete. there's a lot to unpack here and their relationship deserves a good happy "can i be officially your girlfriend?" type of thing.
Wish there was more of this! A fine continuation to the first book. The art is till top notch and there was a bit more exploration into the girls' past, I think.
