Lexy Baker is finally tying the knot with hunky homicide detective Jack Perillo. She’s planned the perfect wedding right down to her custom designed gown. Nothing can go wrong. ... Until Lexy stumbles across a double murder and one of the victims is a Bridezilla that Lexy had a major fight with just hours before. This time Jack can’t help her because he’s been taken off the case and the gum chewing ditzy rookie that’s replaced him has put Lexy at the top of the suspect list. Lexy calls on her amateur detective grandmother to help her find the real killer while she’s juggling wedding plans, trying to run her bakery and entertaining her parents who are in town for the wedding. Will Lexy end up with handcuffs slapped on her wrist instead of a wedding ring slid on her finger?

I've read the previous books in the Lexy Baker series prior to reading "Wedded Blintz." Each book in the series has been light, cute, and a super quick read. I would call the series "mind candy" - no blood or gore, no heavy thinking, no crazy twists, just silly and fun sleuthing. The story is far fetched, predictable, and a little corny, but that's what makes it fun. I love Lexi and Jack. I was thrilled they finally tied the knot, but I was a bit disappointed Jack didn't have a bigger role in this book. Nans and her geriatric pose's always add a bit of silliness and fun to each story. This is a great series if you are looking for a quick read while you are on the go, a day at the beach, a rainy weekend, any time you just need a fun light story.
Wedded Blintz by Leaghann Dobbs is the 7th book in the Lexy Baker Mystery series. Lexy Baker is trying on her custom designed wedding gown when she has a fight with a former high school bully, only to return later to find both the designer and Bridezilla murdered. It is nice to see Lexy and Jack finally getting married and it seems that Jack is becoming more accepting of Lexy's investigations. Lexy's grandmother and her friends are there to help in the investigation and are always a lot of fun. An entertaining, short, typically cozy mystery.
A great addition to the Next Baker Culinary mystery series. Lest is within days of her wedding and her dress designer is murdered and a new detective is looking at Left as a suspect. Time for the Ladies Detective Agency to get involved.
Ms. Dobbs put together a nice little mystery. Although you knew who some of the suspects were it was not revea.ed until the end what had happened and who did what.
As Lexy is getting ready for her wedding she has a knock down drag out with another bride who is angry that Lexy has a dress very similar to hers. Since both of them had requested one of a kind dresses this should not have happened. Of course, the fight that they had in the bridal store over this is not too great either. The next night, Lexy has an appointment with the owner to get her ripped dress repaired. When she arrives she finds the owner and the other bride dead! Who killed them and what will she do when the wedding is the coming Saturday and she has become the prime suspect?
Lexy Baker owns Cup To Cake Bakery. She's due marry Detective Jack Perillo in a couple of weeks. Her grandmother, known as Nans has been an important part of life. She now lives in a retirement village & lives in her Nans house. She goes to Chez Pillipe for final fitting of her wedding gown. It's a little tight but beautiful, custom designed for her. All of a sudden Veronica Maynard who's not a friend from High School, comes charging across the room & tells Lezy to take her dress off because it looks too much like hers. Veronica comes at Lexi tears her gown. At that point they get into a knock down fight & Lexy rips hard on Veronica's gown. Nans breaks them up as the whole store watched. Veronica threatens Lexy she's not to wear her gown or else. Mr. Philippe calls Lexi to come in at 7:00PM so Millie his seamstress can do what is needed to repair the gown @ no charge. He will meet with Veronica separately. Lexi arrives @ Chez Philippe, it's dark but door is open. She goes to the back to the sewing, which is dark too. She has a bad feeling, turns on the lights & 2 bodies are on the floor, blood pooling. She goes over to check for pulse none. One is Mr. Philippe to her surprise the other is Veronica. She goes outside to call 911. Also calls Nans. She's suspect #1 as the case has been turned over to rookie female Detective Watson Davies. Jack & his partner can assist. Lexy turns to the Ladies Detective Club: Nans, Ida, Ruth & Helen to find out who the murder is. They all live at the same place as Nans. Will the wedding take place? Who are the possible suspects, as Nans & her group start searching for clues. Read on, there so much more action in this book & danger too. Lots of laughs too. Enjoy this book.
How could I not like the seventh book in the Lexy Baker cozy mystery series when the title is, Wedded Blintz?! This may be my favorite book in the series so far! Lexy is gearing up for a visit from her parents as she is about to marry Detective Jack Perillo. The Bakers haven't met Jack yet since they have been traveling the country in an RV for over a year. Lexy is at Chez Philippe, the shop of world renowned gown designer Philippe Montague, when her high school nemesis, Veronica Maynard shows up in a wedding gown very similar to hers. They get into a scuffle and both wedding dresses are ripped! Philippe promises to fix Lexy's dream dress for free after hours. When Lexy arrives for her appointment, she discovers both Veronica and Philippe are dead! She continues to be a murder magnet! Jack's boss, Chief of Detectives Willard Eames, gives the double homicide case to rookie, Walson Davies. Davies is a petite, young, blond female and Lexy just knows that she will have to call Nans and the Ladies Detective Club to action in order to help her solve the latest mystery. I am ready to see how married life treats Lexy and Jack!
Lexy Baker owns a bakery but the best part is that she is getting married to Detective Jack and is going for her final fitting when she finds out that another bride has the exact same dress when they were supposed to be designer originals and that the other bride is an arch enemy from her high school days. When the dresses both need alterations the other gal has her final fitting 1 hr before her but when she arrives she finds the designer and the enemy bride both dead in the fitting room. What is even worse is that Lexy is being accused of murder. Lexy and a group of ladies from the retirement home lead by her grandmother set out to solve the double murder only to find out the groom from the deceased bride is also found dead. Several things occur and the plot continues to twist until Lexy and the retirees are able to solve the multiple murders!
Another excellent cozy from Ms. Dobbs. Lexy is finally making an honest man of Jack. Her least favorite person, who sounds like the mean girl from her high school days, is getting married, too. And their dresses are almost identical! Until Lexy gets into a fight with the mean girl, and both dresses get torn. With only a short time until her wedding, Lexy doesn't know what to do. The bridal shop owner calls Lexy that evening to come in and get her dress fixed. And when Lexy gets there, both he and the mean girl are dead! The detective on the case thinks Lexy is the number one suspect. So Lexy will have to solve the murder, get ready for her wedding, run her shop and here come her parents. (I'm exhausted just reading that.) Of course, with the help of Nans and her detective club and Jack, the murders are solved and Lexy reaches the altar. Recommended.
Light hearted story despite the murder mystery focus with a generational team of quasi detective want to bes. They're snooping helps the local police detectives stay ahead of the bad guys so alls forgiven. 👰👮 This story has the wedding to sweeten the plot, as well as the elements of humor know to those who have read any of the series. All the loose ends are tied up by story's end, the villains are jailed, and the newest member of the police detective team is now a welcomed addition. Its a easy read for a lazy afternoon. I very much plan on enjoying more of this writer's work.
This series had been improving for this reader - and then this! A murder that finds Lexy as the suspect, her confrontation with police at the wake, a break-in at her home... Didn't this also happen in the first book? Throw in an unprofessional newbie detective and wildly improbable activities the week before a wedding and you have this book. The murder and most of the moving parts are obvious early in, the elderly crimesolving quartet lacked the usual humor and fun, and Lexy's close call due to the aforementioned detective's childish habit is just silly. This is a surprisingly lackluster showing from this author.
This is book seven in the series. I can't say I've read anything in order so I'm not sure how it would impact the series as a whole but I had no isssues reading this book as a stand alone. There is a huge case of bridezilla and a double murder. Which one is crazier or is it one thing tied together? Can she solve the case in time to still get married? Then there is another murder and some double-crossing action. It kept you reading in different directions. The ladies are at it again by putting their detective skills to work. Fun read!
I enjoyed this book, one of the Lexy Baker mysteries. She and Jack are finally getting married and wedding planning is driving Lexy crazy. The fun begins when Lexy and Veronica, an old rival from high school, discover their wedding dresses are very similar and have a fight about it in the wedding boutique resulting in needed repairs When Lexi shows up to have her dress repaired, she discovers Veronica and the owner dead and becomes the chief suspect. I really enjoyed her efforts to clear her name with the assistance of her grandmother and friends. Good, light cozy with fun characters.
Lexy and her grandmother run an amateur detective club. Lexy runs a bakery and the other older ladies all live in the same Retirement Center. Lexy is getting married at the end of the week and has many unfinished things to do for the wedding. Then there’s a problem with her wedding dress. During an after-hours visit to get it fixed, she finds 2 murdered bodies! The exciting events start happening then, and Lexy and her fiancé are both involved.
I have read all of Dobbs Lexy Baker mysteries and have thoroughly enjoyed every single one. I love her crazy grandmother Nans and her detecting cohorts at the retirement center. They are such a hoot! I look forward to each one and recently read the Blackmoor sisters mystery with their varied mystical talents. It's another series I'll be following. Dobbs writing is fresh, her characters are so likable and the mysteries are right up my alley!
Another murder solved by the Gangs of Ladies Detective and Lexy the "Doubtful Detective". I like that the author present those octagerian as smart, perky, who can contort in the back of a VW. People in retirement homes are usually described as mentally and physically deficient who don't even know how to use the basic search online. Not these iPad totting crime solving grandmas. Just giving a shout to all the Grandmas out in the universe.
While what happens is fairly clear, who is a bit harder for a while, but follow the clues and a killer shall be found. Between brisdezilla, identical gowns , the bide to be being a suspect and a victim and a new cop on the beat, it's almost like the wedding isn't meant to be.
kinda a weak story, but ok if you read in "fast forward" through all the other nonsense. book 7. Ii've read all the previous books and I will, at some time, finish the series. This one is set the week before the wedding and goes in for a fitting for her dress, only to find someone else there as a very similar dress. They fight. the next day, she is found murdered along with the tailor.
Another home run, Leighann! This book brings us to days before Lexi and Jack's wedding, when again, Lexi Baker stumbles across a body ... Make that two bodies! Leighann Dobbs writes with humour and boy, can she spin a good tale! This is a good cozy mystery series and I have read them as they have been released.
This is a triple murder mystery with a love story and a group of elderly ladies thrown in for good measure. It has the small town history with almost everyone knowing everyone else. So be set for a fun book to read, oh don't read it on an empty stomach or you will have to stop for something to eat as so many goodies are in the story.
This is one of those books and series that if you want something light, funny and take your mind off the problems of the world just for a few hours this is the book for you! As always I love granny Nan....she is my favorite character and in this book...the wedding finally took place! Whew!!!! But this is an enjoyable series and a perfect book to turn off the world for a few!
Ms. Dobbs does it again. Lexy is getting married, paid for a designer one-of-a-kind dress. However, when she's at her final fitting, a high school nemesis was there with the same dress. They got into a fight, tearing each other's dress. The store owner had them come back after hours and separarly so he could fix them - that's when Lexy found the bodies.
Lexi finally gets to marry her handsome detective. She's planned the perfect wedding, right down to the wedding dress. Imagine her surprise when her arch nemisis has the same dress. And then her arch nemisis is murdered and they think Lexi did it. Thanks to her Nans and her friends, they find out who did it and why. A good cozy mystery.
Lexy Baker Series, Bk 7, EBK-M, Kindle, @ 2013, Read 3/12/25, Fiction, Cozy Mystery. A quick Cozy about Lexy's upcoming wedding and her involvement in a triple murder. Will her wedding be canceled if the police decide she is the killer? 2☆'s = Okay, A very quick read, Lexy's Nan and nan's friends have saved the day!
Lexy is finally marrying her Jack. Things take a scary turn when Lexy finds two bodies when she goes to get her wedding dress repaired. With her Nans and her senior pals they set out to find who is guilty before it spoils her big day. Very entertaining cozy mystery with great characters.
This book was hilarious and yet a mystery all in one! I LOVE these kinds of books because they are set in such unusual places, and yet are a fast paced read that holds your attention all the way to the climax at the end!!
Although this was a nice book, it was let down by the fact that the killer's and motive were obvious less than a third in. The author dropped the hint too readily and too openly and as such the cement of mystery and surprise was gone.
This is a great mystery, well written and entertaining. Lexy and her grandmother ‘s detective club solve a triple murder. Kept me guessing all the way to the end. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that loves cozy mysteries.
I expect a cozy to be a fun quick read. Found this one boring but I haven't read the whole series which might have helped. I didn't like any of the characters and the story was a bland rehash of dozens of others.
