This wasn't anything amazing, but I enjoyed working through it for a week. Sometimes, it is nice just to spend one week on a subject. I recommend this, and the nice thing? It is free!
Book Review: The Seven Day Prayer Warrior Experience By: Stormie Omaritan
It's a short book but very effective. It is meant to be read one prayer a day for a week. Stomie expresses brillant reasoning for her interpretation of the meaning of the noted scriptures. Well written prayers that truly grasp the concept of the scriptures intended. The chosen scriptures are truly important to focus prayer upon in order to fully guard yourself from the works of evil on a day to day basis. I really enjoyed the comparison of Jesus Christ followers to soldiers. We are in fact Jesus Christ warriors/soldiers. I recommend this book for all followers of Jesus Christ to read.

This book has a lots of helpful and encouraging perspectives on the armour of God passage in Ephesians. I made many highlights! But there where a few sections where I felt that though what w was written wasn't "wrong", it sort of missed the mark a bit. For example, when talking about the gospel of peace we end up just looking at peace generally not the specific application of the good news of peace. A few moments like that, but other sections were right on the money.
I enjoyed and would recommend this devotional that focuses on putting on God’s armor and living as a prayer warrior. I read it with my son and it was great for discussion, explanations and reminders of the importance of prayer in our lives.
Very short. Not what I was expecting from Stormie. Although it was meant to be for a 7 day period, I was hoping for a little more of a spiritual read. Still a good addition to your spiritual journey.
This was a blessing. Something that I will read again to remind me of the truths wonderfully written. I appreciate Stormie's candid words and applications to our current society and lives.
I enjoyed reading the prayer devotional. I enjoyed her daily reminders. It was easy to read and do. I would recommend it for someone who is new to daily praying. I may do it again.
Excellent practical outline of Scripture and how to activate it in daily living. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness clad ourselves with the armor of Light. Pray without ceasing.
Really nice book. 3-4 pages per day, easy read. Talks about the armor of God passage by Paul and explains both the spiritual context and the history of Roman armor pieces he describes that most people back then would understand. Very insightful and interesting. Ends with talking about prayer and how consistent prayer is much more effective. Great little study and it’s free on Amazon kindle . Just download it and read it
I have read and enjoyed other books by this author. When I saw this one offered for free on my CBD Reader, I thought I'd give it a go. I was really quite disappointed.
First of all, this is an excerpt from a larger book about prayer (Omartian's specialty). It's really a short Bible study on the passage in Ephesians 6 that talks about putting on the armor of God. I used it as a mini-devotional and read one chapter a day during my lunch break at work. Had I not been interrupted several times, it would have taken about 7-9 days to complete. I am not really big on devotionals, but figured this would allow me to "digest" the material over each part of our heavenly armor.
Although Omartian explained each article using both ancient Roman and contemporary examples, she did not go into much depth. There was very little "meat" in this book. Most of it was old news to me.
The author also gave the impression that she expects Christians to go through some sort of daily ritual of praying and "putting on" each thing mentioned, which I don't think is what the Apostle Paul actually meant. Like Jesus, Paul was using an illustration from contemporary culture to talk about doing battle with unseen forces using immaterial resources. He didn't mean we are literally supposed to step into some sort of magical garb each day. Basically, Christ is the source of our salvation, righteousness, truth and good news that help us stand firm in spiritual battle. He is the object of our faith that protects us from the enemy's lies, and His word is the one offensive weapon we wield to send Satan packing. If we spend time each day seeking His face, reading His word and following His direction, then we will be equipped to handle whatever the enemy sends our way. We rely on Him, not ourselves and our limited power and understanding.
The cross references provided make this a potentially useful resource for an 8-week Bible study. Omartian also has a written prayer and suggested action points for readers with each chapter. She references a website for folks to share their experiences/thoughts, which may connect you to a larger community of believers.
While this book may be appropriate for "baby Christians" and individuals just learning to engage in spiritual warfare, it's really not substantial enough for seasoned saints. There are more in-depth studies on this passage that yield greater insight. If it's free, you haven't lost any money on this book, but you may be wasting time that could be better spent with something else.
My first devotional from this 7-day devotional book. What exactly is this armour? Sounds big right? Well its not. Just show up and pray.. That is the armour.
When you get up every day, put on your protective armor. Don’t leave your day to chance. Take possession of it and surrender it to the Lord. Don’t let it get out of control and give the enemy an invitation to have input. You need this armor to stop any onslaught of the enemy’s destructive arrows into your life and the lives of those you care about—both now and in the future. We must have the whole armor of God protecting us at all times so we can stand successfully against the enemy’s plans for not only our life, but also the lives of others.
Day 2: Gird Your Waist with the Truth- Ephesians 6:14 we must tightly surround ourselves with truth and not allow for anything other than the truth to enter into our thinking or situation. It means asking God to keep us undeceived so that we never allow deception to take root. Knowing the truth liberates us from all possibility of deception and illuminates any darkness in our life This doesn’t mean just know about the truth. It means know it so that it becomes part of you and you live it.The enemy uses lies to confuse people and fill them with anxiety and fear.
Day 3 : Put On the Breastplate of Righteousness Jesus’ perfect righteousness is what covers our heart. Our breastplate of righteousness is the righteousness of Jesus in us. It protects our heart from any mortal wounds and assures us that the enemy can never destroy us because of sin.
Day 4 - Shoe Your Feet with the Preparation of the Gospel of Peace (Ephesians 6:15)
Day 5 - Take the Shield of Faith (Ephesians 6:16) Faith dissolves fear and makes us courageous. It opens up unlimited possibilities
Day 6 : Take the Helmet of Salvation (Ephesians 6:17) Day 7 : Take the Sword of the Spirit, Which Is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17)
Each section of this short ebook book focuses on one part of the ‘armour of Christ' described in Ephesians 6. There's a brief historical background each time; the rest of each section explains how the author perceives them and why they are important. Basic Christian knowledge and belief is assumed.
The language used is rather formal, and I didn't really find anything new. I read a section each day for a week, and there were some encouraging reminders, but nothing I hadn’t read or heard before. The theme wasn’t really about being a ‘prayer warrior’, but about being prepared for spiritual battle in everyday life. Each section had questions at the end, which would be more appropriate for group study.
Still, it was free, and made a good week's readings.
I've always appreciated the writings of Stormie, especially on prayer. This is a 7 Day Devotional based on Ephesians 6...putting on the whole armor of God. Each day feels with a different piece of armor and how to put it on and the significance of that armor. Each day has a prayer and scriptures to reinforce the armor.
There are so many leaders that encourage to make sure every piece of armor is in place daily. So daily make sure have on: TRUTH, RIGHTEOUSNESS, PREPARATION of GOSPEL of PEACE, FAITH, SALVATION, WORD OF GOD, and PRAYER.
This is a nice, concise and well put together teaching. I think it's helpful. Recommend it.
I found this to be awesome. Everything taught in this book has strengthened my prayer life and style of praying, all in 7 days. I would definitely read this again. Stormie gives gives excellent examples, related text scriptural references, her message just captures you attention, especially those who are in spiritual warfare. It's praying time folks
I found this book to be awesome. Everything taught in this book has strengthened my prayer life and style of praying all in 7 days. Stormie is an excellent writer and gives you vivid thought examples, scriptural related text references, and her message just captures your attention, especially those who are in spiritual warfare.
This is a really an overview for anyone new or interested in getting an active prayer life. Stormie uses a familiar scripture and slowly breaks it down so that it is relevant and easy to understand. Beware, if you want a more in depth view you may need to get the book. I'm not sure if it was because I read this using an e-reader but the format was choppy and some sentences were not complete. This was a little off putting at times and detracted from the quality of this devotional.
Overall, I enjoyed this new look at Ephesians 6, and it has made me curious about the book.
I didn't user this as a week-long devotional but read through in its entirety in one short sitting. My first thought after day 1 was that this doesn't have enough to it and perhaps is best suited for a very new-to-the-faith Christian. While I do think that is still mostly true, I did feel the devotionals got better, and found myself eagerly hunting the scriptures she referenced to highlight them in my Bible. These weren't new-to-me revelations but more a reminder that sometimes I forget all the armor God gives us.
I loved this devotional!! It is definitely one of those that I will reference and re-read often. It reminded me how essential the full armor of God is and what each detail and piece of the armor means in my daily life. I have found so many scriptures to pray over myself! I am putting the foundation scripture on my bedroom door so that before I leave I am putting on the armor of God and preparing myself for the day.
At Location 82, the author suggests that, contrary to what Ephesians 6:10-13 specifically says, 3 times in 3 verses, we are to do more than prayerfully "stand against" every Jesus Follower's demonic opposition. I disagree!
Teaching folks to attack evil forces, rather than stand and pray against them, is Biblically unsupportable, and from the author's Book of Opinions 1!
I give this book five stars because it is written from the heart of a God fearing woman and you can feel it in your soul when you read it. this book truly touched me and taught me new ways to reach my prayer potential. Teaching me that praying is something you should do more of and not less of. Reaching God is not as easy as picking up the phone or sending an email or text, you have to work at it and Stormie shows you the way.
The 7 day prayer warrior is a great devotional that has a wealth of knowledge packed into short lessons. Omartian has given us great look into the Roman armor at the time of Jesus so that we can better understand the Spiritual armor that we are to wear. I learned a lot from this ebook and love the short chapters as it made it an easy read and a great addition to my daily quiet time. I can't recommend this book enough, if you are a Christian you need to read this book!
This book was so enlightening, it teaches about the armour and explains why and how to put on the armour. The power of praying in the spirit is so prevalent today we need to stay close to God. I would recommend this book and this author to anyone who wants a closer relationship with God. Thank you Stormie Omartian for your walk with God thru your books!!! God Bless You!!!
The book concentrates on Spiritual armor. Each day a different section of that armor. There is an opening Bible verse. The author shares viewpoints on the meaning of that verse. Then ends each day with a prayer.
My devotional partner and I thought that at times the bible verses got a bit redundant and maybe that was the intention of the author. It did take away some of the zeal for us.
