Seven spirits...Seven stories. At a lodging in Samaria, Miriam of Magdala stops for the night with a convoy of sojourners traveling back to Galilee from Jerusalem following the resurrection of Jesus. Due to unexpected circumstances she becomes a caretaker for a man left for dead on the side of the road. To pass time, she relates to the unconscious man the series of events that brought her there, answering the questions of why she had seven spirits, who they were, how she came to be set free, and her dedicated ministry thereafter.
Miriam's story weaves together seven seemingly unrelated biblical accounts in vivid fashion. Her struggles and victories still resonate today. Deeply engaging, Seven illustrates how lies can derail your destiny and how truth can take you places you never thought possible.
Tristan K. Hodges holds fine arts degrees from Pepperdine University and Brooks Institue of Photography. Her passion is writing historical fiction based on biblical events. Her first book "Seven" follows the life of Mary Magdalene, and her second book "Twelve" reimagines the events of Jesus and his disciples. She spends her time between Florida and Colorado.
I love how the author intertwined Truth all throughout this fiction story. I liked reading this so much, I finished pretty quickly. How she writes out the lies of each evil spirit...very realistic. I found myself remembering some of the same lies that have negatively effected my thoughts, too! This book is very relevant and helpful to teach understanding.
I really enjoyed this fictional novel by T Hodges. Clever device and good story combine to help this read quickly. The author is an artist and her 7 spirits even seem artistically displayed. So the rhetoric added to the (possibly) biblical narrative. Good book to read during lockdown.
