What's the first sign that lets you know you're dealing with a sociopath? Corporate Thugs is riddled with the clues. Set in the new reigning hub of African-American drama - suburban Atlanta - it's the scandalous saga of the ambitious and untamed Gerald Alexander that chronicles his descent into the dismal world of irrationality. From high school to college and throughout the pros - his story will have you watching your back ever so closely. Gerald had two dreams - to play in the NFL and to make the cover of Sports Illustrated. When the former was cut short by a serious injury, all the fame, fortune, parties, and women were gone. On the contrary, his best friend since childhood, Marcus Stone, was on top of the world - a successful business, a beautiful wife, a fat bank account... he seemed to have it all. Being a supportive friend, Marcus offers Gerald a job, hoping that Gerald would have a positive impact on his company. But when jealousy and murder come between them, which one will fall? Could Gerald be so callous that he'd set up his best friend? Is Marcus capable of unleashing his own wrath? They solved the riddle. Can you?

About the author

Bridgett Renay

8 books28 followers
The only thing Bridgett Renay loves doing more than writing is breathing. If you let her tell it, the first spoken words from the quiet but observant Navy veteran were, “I should really write this down”.

As a young girl she undoubtedly had the gift. Everything from poetry to short stories filled her PeeChee folder with fantasies as well as the realities of life growing up in south central Los Angeles. And her talents didn’t go unnoticed. A Thanksgiving poem she wrote in elementary school found its way into the neighborhood newspaper, but it wasn’t a sign of what was to immediately come.

Years of professional growth as a Navy Reservist and corporate operative, as well as personal triumphs earning an undergraduate and a master’s degree, tells the story of a journey that took her to faraway places, introduced her to intoxicating people, and shaped the way she viewed the world and her place in it.

Now that she has reached the top of her pyramid, per se, Bridgett Renay has allowed herself to re-focus on her true calling – writing. Corporate Thugs is her first novel – her dream deferred. The pen is back, the passion never left…a new journey begins.

This book had me from page one all the way until the end. The plot was great with twist and turns that kept me engaged. The dynamic between the best friends was something else. Jealousy will do you in every time. And that ending....I loved it!

Enjoyed Reading This Story

This is an attention-grabbing plot with complex characters that face everyday quandaries. It gives a true view into the lives of two best friends since childhood. Protagonists Marcus Stone is the high achiever, who is going places, and Gerald Alexander has big dreams of becoming a pro football player, but as you get deeper into the storyline, nothing is never what it seems, and when jealously, greed, betrayal, manipulation, lies, scandal, and murder come into play, the narrative elevates into a stirring cat and mouse drama with an ending you will never see coming. The author provides stern and witty anecdotes when it comes to describing her characters and how they will stop at nothing to get what they want, no matter the consequences, reminding us that the grass always looks greener on the outside, but when you turn that pasture over, it may be rotten to the core.

The best 99 cents I spent.
This book could have been five stars but the poor editing didn't allow me to give it. BUT the story is oh so good, different, edgy and suspenseful. The kind of book that have your heart racing and difficult to put down.
