Carla Johnson never really got a chance to grieve the death of her husband. Following the tragedy, life just took over and left her scrambling to keep her head above water. A wedding to help plan for her daughter, two young sons to care for, bills to pay and the need to find a more secure job is stressful enough. Add in nursing one handsome yet stubborn man back to health and some days it all feels like too much. In helping him heal she may have found a potential new career path but only if she doesn’t lose herself in his hazel eyes and sinful smile first.
Detective Greg Sanders understands about human nature more than most but the middle aged mother of three he’s so fascinated by, is a whole other matter. Her need to sweep the past under the rug and pretend it isn’t part of the present not only frustrates him, but fuels the protective instincts ingrained in him as a cop and a man. The quiet, emotional and absolutely lovely woman should be predictable but he is finding her to be anything but. As the least likely person to find associating with a bunch of bikers, he often finds her right in the middle of the group, right alongside his own sister. If she can give those guys a chance, why not him?
Was really interested in how Carla and Greg's story was going to go but to me it fell a little flat. I zipped through the other books in this series but this one seemed to take forever to finish. It just dragged on. I kept waiting for them to finally just do it and the book was almost over before it even started to get interesting. The birth of Lilly and Bobbies baby plus the event Chuck had was more interesting than watching Carla and Greg finally seal the deal.
Let me start the new year off with what I liked about this installment. Carla and Greg's intimate times were the sexiest of all the couples so far. I didn't expect that from Carla who is very reserved, shy and motherly. I liked seeing her as a woman with desires, wants, and needs. She spends so much time worried about others that with Greg she's able to let lose.I love how everyone helps out watching the kids, helping around the house- really liked the scenes with Chuck and the kids. Ok, what I didn't care for, the constant reminders of Doug-always on Carla's mind. I understand it,but when she meets Greg it's pretty unfair to compare him to Doug. I felt like he could never live up to Doug, the perfect father and husband. I also could have done without the Jarrod storyline. I felt like it had been done already with Chuck and Dickie. Overall, I liked it though not as much as the books, 3/3/.5*
This was disappointing. When I read the synopses for all the books in the series, I found it to be promising, even though I am not a fan of biker books. I found the main characters annoying enough that if I ever met either of them, I'd probably throttle them. He was too nice to her; I probably would have walked away much sooner had a man treated me the way she treated him.
I also have a real problem with poor grammar, syntax and overall word choice. I'm sorry, did that disappear completely from school curricula? In any case, that particular issue is all over this book. Enough said.
An absolutely brilliant read, I loved this book especially when they had Thanks Giving Dinner or before it with the NO FOOTBALL lol I absolutely love Gretchen I want a little girl like her she is fab and I hope you Rebecca get to write about Gretchen, Matt and Ben when they are older PLEASE I love Greg and Carla all through the books and I'm glad to of read about them it's a brilliant story and again get to hear about the gorgeous Chuck and all the other Hot! Bikers in this series !!!!!!!!
I am so sad I did not know this book was out sooner. I honestly thought after Becca and Dickie's book it was the last one...Glad to see I was wrong.
I enjoyed this one and as usual for me little Gretchen stole the show along with Ben...mmm perhaps the author can forward a few years and write a book for these 2???
As queen of the abrupt endings, the author maintained her throne with this book as well. Even though Greg and Carla got their HEA, and the other couples lives were informed on to some sense of completion, there were still issues left unattended. At least not in a manner this reader is happy with.
Enjoyable read. Liked that Greg finally got his own book. Not my fav in the series but a very enjoyable read. Good to find out more about Gretchen's antics (such a cutie!). Hope this series will continue.
I luv this series! The bad biker boys with their softer sides for their women and family are great together. I can't wait to read the rest of the series! I also luv the first book in Rebecca's new series Man Maid! She is a great writer and I can't wait to see what else she writes
