Since I binged read this three book series back to back via my Kindle Unlimited subscription, this is not an ARC review, folks. Just know each one can be considered a stand-alone but are linked to a series with the same sub-characters and ongoing backdrop plot involving an at times mostly referenced bad guy and back and forth travel from London to the magical world of Fae. That wicked fella took center stage more so in book 2 than the others. So, yeah, likely a good idea to read them in order if you are interested in a detailed scoop of the story line/full history of all of them.

Anyway, it’s a childhood sweethearts to briefly estranged then to passionate lovers. Marcus mucks them up with a knee jerk decision that ripped them apart and Cece, the heroine, does make him jump through hoops to make up for it. It was sweet to find they have always been sweet on each other to the point they kept their innocence and didn’t want anyone else ever.

Cece was a knucklehead, too, for not asking for help with a family issue. Thankfully, this posse of friends and family are used to banding together and tackling problems head on. They at least collectively are not a bunch of hand wringers, folks.

I must say I enjoyed book 1 the most due to the romantic dance, back and forth banter between that particular main couple. Steamy smex scenes on and off steam rolled over the plot in book 2 and did so in book 3, as well. To the point I found myself thinking, “Good grief, they are at it again.” I just got a little tired of the numerous, started to feel redundant, descriptive, lengthy, lusty smex scenes once they started to patch things up. For me, the true magic happens in the emotional connection of my main couples. At least it was well established they had that going on, as well. I personally don't need such descriptive images in my head of their smexy time together.

The Magic Between Us is lighthearted entertaining story sprinkled with magic, romance, and a touch of danger. It’s a story that makes you laugh and sigh. I love the strong family dynamics in all of Tammy Faulkner’s stories and the realistic teasing and squabbles.

The fae series has been fun to read. I've enjoyed Thorne family and each member has a particular magical ability. While there is a lot of laughter and high-jinks in The Magic Between Us the author skillfully deals with a serious issue of addiction and it’s emotional impact on a family.

If you enjoy magic, a good romance, endearing characters, and laughter, The Magic Between Us (really, the whole series) is the perfect book to curl up with this winter.

Light, sweet, magical, and romantic, The Magic Between Us was a lovely read. It was wonderful and I really enjoyed reading it. Loved this book!

Cecelia was a wonderful heroine. She holds a grudge against Marcus for leaving her and that might have bothered me, but she knew when to forgive. She was a sweet, likable character. The only thing I questioned about her was why she didn't tell Marcus of her problems at home before. He would have helped her if she had let him. Otherwise, I really liked her.

Marcus was such a sweetheart. He originally leaves the fae world-and Cecelia-because he believes he needs to earn his family's acceptance. But, even so, he was still completely devoted to Cecelia. He was so sweet and wonderful and I adored him.

The romance was lovely. Cecelia and Marcus were so sweet together. They had been in love with each other for years until Marcus' duty as a titled lord tore them apart. But, they were still a perfect match. And, there was definitely some hot chemistry between them. What I liked about that part of their romance was that both of them had saved themselves for each other. Yes, that means Marcus was a virgin, as well. I thought that was really sweet. In most historical romance, even if the hero isn't a rake, he's still experienced. But, in this one, since Marcus was in love with Cecelia for most of his life, he wasn't interested in any other woman. It made their relationship even sweeter. But, make no mistake, what they lack in experience, they make up for in enthusiasm.

I really liked the secondary romance between Ainsley and Allen. I thought they were both great characters and the romance between them was very sweet.

The plot was fast paced. I was hooked the entire way through. I really enjoyed the story and I thought the ending was perfect.

The Magic Between Us was a lovely historical/paranormal romance. I loved this book! It was sweet, light, and full of magic and romance. Lovers of romance, this is a book you have to read.

My heart broke reading how Cecelia lost her childhood sweetheart and true love to his family duty. Her life went from happy, with a promising future to being trapped in a horrible home life. Not that Marcus is less miserable. He loves Celia and is torn by his need to do what it right by his family. A family he had not always know, but loves just the same. When the two cross paths again, wounds are reopened and their love reignited. Both Marcus and Cecelia are loyal, loving, and someone you would want to meet in real life. I really enjoyed their story and the sweet love they shared. Not that the heat is missing, so have no fears there.

I love all things fae and when I saw this book I knew I had to read it. At the time, I did not realize it was part of a series and that I had not read the first two books. Thankfully, this read beautifully as a stand alone. While I am sure I probably missed quite a bit by starting here, it did not interfere with my enjoyment of the book. Funny thing is that not too long ago I did this it was with a shifter series that really tickled my fancy. In fact, as I was reading this I thought of that series because they are both historicals. It was not until more then half way through that it clicked that Tammy Falkner is AKA Lydia Dare, the author of those books. That made me chuckle. If you like fae, magical historicals and super sweet romances with some heat, this book is probably just the book for you.

I loved this book couldn't put it down. Marcus & Cecelia have knowned each other since they were kids, but as time went by they fell in love and always talked about their future together. One day Marcus told her that he needed to go to the human world to help his father and just left her there with a broken heart. Cecelia was asked to go to the human world along with other fea to help Marcus's family. Marcus tried to explain to Cecelia that he made a mistake by leaving her and that he wants her back, but Cecelia's broken heart was still hurting especially after what happened while he was gone and not being there to comfort her. When Marcus and his whole family went back to the fea land he found out the truth about Cecelia's family and with the help from his brother's in law and his own father he was able to help Ceceilia's father.

I was about 1/3 of the way through The Magic Between Us before I really started questioning myself. I first questioned if I was reading the wrong book because the description here on Goodreads is nothing like the plot that was unfolding. I next questioned why I was reading it at all since I wasn’t that impressed with the first two books of the series. Unfortunately, in the end I questioned why this book had so many problems that the author didn’t seem to notice.

Marcus Thorne is the eldest son of a human Earl and a fairy godmother who were forced to give up three of their six children because they had were born with magic (verses the three kids who lost out in the fairy gene pool). Instead of learning from the mistakes of his parents and trying to bridge the gap between his mixed heritage, Marcus feels that he cannot have a life in the human world without foregoing his life as a Fae. He makes the choice to leave everything behind in the Fae world, including his girlfriend Cecelia, and ends up being miserable trying to live up to his new role as heir to a father he barely knows (and slightly resents). On top of this he has usurped the heir-apparent job from a slightly younger brother who isn’t thrilled to learn he is no longer the oldest.

Cecelia Hewitt’s life back in the land of Fae isn’t that much better after Marcus leaves her. She nurses a broken heart not only for the man but for the future plans they had made together. She also has to deal alone with an alcoholic and abusive father after her mother is killed in an accident in the human world. Six months after her world fell apart she travels to London as a personal favor to Marcus’s grandmother and quickly comes face to face with her lost love. When he claims that he regrets leaving her behind and wishes reconciliation, Cecelia can’t bring herself to trust that he won’t leave her high and dry again. She is also reluctant to leave her father behind when his drinking has reduced him to a shell of the noble Fae leader he used to be.

As much as I hate to say it, this story was very weak. Marcus and Cecelia are barely defined as characters and have only the sketchiest of backstories (most of which you would have had to read the first two books to know). I almost got the impression while reading that the author sort of gave up on these stories to focus on her more successful Contemporary books. There is almost no plot other than Marcus wanting to prove to Cecelia that he really loves her while Cecelia has to resist because of what has happened to her father (and her betrayal at Marcus leaving her once before). Ms. Falkner tried to bring in an old enemy from the previous books, but even that was a half-attempt as he only comes back in the end and then is gone before he can do anything remotely evil.

The fairy world, all of the rules that govern it and even how the people are different from humans are mostly left up to the imagination of the reader with only small details added by the author. Time-wise the land of the Fae runs parallel to the human world, yet these people dress is fashion right out of the Gap summer catalog and speak as if they are contemporary Americans. The human characters aren’t much better so I would 100% say this is a wallpaper historical at its best (or worst). I sort-of enjoyed the secondary romance of Marcus’s human brother and Cecelia’s fairy best friend; however all of their romance happens in the background so they just sort of pop into the story when we need a snarky comment or a peer that Marcus of Cecelia can unload on.

This story will only appeal to readers who have a very high tolerance to historical inaccuracy and fill in the blank characterizations. If you’ve read the first two books you might be entertained seeing the final lost child find his place within the two worlds; however new readers should probably steer clear.

Tammy Falkner brings readers the third book in her paranormal historical romance series featuring the fae. The Magic Between Us is essentially a Regency romance with a magical twist. Though these elements may be the forefront there is also the underlying themes of rebuilding trust and the effects of addiction. Falkner uses humor, as well as, some clever plot devices to get readers interested. Her characters are tender and sweet in this one and have eyes only for each other. A light, romantic romp in the ton!

What I liked:

One of the things I enjoyed about this book was the relationship between the main couple, Marcus and Cecilia. It was obvious that even though Marcus had left the fae world to pursue life as a Lord with his human family, he still loved Cecilia. Cecilia was hurt by Marcus but she still harbors feelings for him, even though her trust in him has faltered. That and family secrets try to keep these two apart, but in vain. I liked the fact that Falkner takes a different route with these two. Marcus isn't your typical English Lord. He isn't a rake and he has saved himself for the woman he loves, a rare trait. Cecilia is dealing with a terrible secret and doesn't want it to affect others she loves. A very interesting lead couple, not your average Regency story to be sure.

The fae elements in this book, were well written, though perhaps not exactly the interpretation of the fae that I am used to. Being of Scottish descent I know a thing or two about the fae from the stories of my grandfather and I wasn't quite sure I agreed with how these fae characters were reacting to the situations Falker placed them in, until I decided to throw my pre-conceived ideas out the window. That's generally what I have to do when reading paranormal books and it worked for me here as well. After I got over that hurdle, I began to look at the fae in a different way and though it was different it certainly worked for this book and for the series, which I have really enjoyed.

I always enjoy paranormal elements being injected into historical romance. It adds another dimension to the story that may have otherwise been run of the mill. Falker does a great job of balancing these elements against the romantic aspects of the book. She uses a lot of humor and some pretty hefty topics like addiction to pull that off. I thought she did an excellent job of showing the effects of addiction on families in this one.

I liked the secondary romance between Ainsley and Allen as well. It wasn't quite as sappy as Marcus and Cecilia and gave readers another romantic couple even though they were technically in the background of the story. All of the characters were well drawn and their stories were important to the overall theme of the book. If a person were reading this one as a standalone there may have been a bit of confusion here and there with some of the backstories, but I don't think it was enough to overshadow the book.

What I didn't like:

This is just a personal thing and not something the author did wrong. I liked the main characters, but they were a bit too sappy for me. They were all love and roses in regard to each other. The conflict of the story was definitely external. They were just too sweet. LOL... what a criticism! I just wanted at least one of them to have a little more bite to their character.

The Magic Between Us is the third book in the Faerie romance series by Tammy Falkner. I have not read the two previous books, and aside from some secondary plot moments I do not feel that the lack affected my read. Marcus Thorne was groomed to be one of the Trusted Few in the land of the fae, but must step into his father's title in the British ton. In doing so he leaves behind his first love. Cecelia Hewitt, is more than a little upset with Marcus for leaving her behind. The situation is made worse that in the six months Marcus has been gone her mother has passed away and her father has become increasingly troubled. When situations bring them together again Marcus realizes that he has made a mistake and needs to reconcile with Cecelia. But will she be able to trust him again, and will they find a compromise that works for both of them, and their families?

I am not quite sure where to start with The Magic Between Us. Part of the problem lies in the fact that the book is nothing like the description on Goodreads, but does match the description on Amazon. I thought that both Cecelia and Marcus could have been fleshed out a little more, although I am sure readers of the entire series have a slightly fuller understanding of Marcus than newcomers. On the plus side, Cecelia and Marcus really did seem to be made for each other, and his interfering family was fun. I liked that Cecelia made him work for reconciliation, for the most part, and had her own plans rather than completely relying on others. Their interactions were fun and flirtatious. I did think that the resolution with her father was a bit lacking- that a person with as much strength and integrity as Cecilia would have gotten help before this book even began.

I thought that The Magic Between Us was a quick read that could keep readers entertained on a snowy winters night. I would recommend it to those that have read the previous two books in the series so that they could see the end to the larger story arch. If you see the book on the bargain shelf or at the library, it could make for a fun night's reading. However, it is not a book that I would recommend seeking out.

I gave this a B- at AAR, so 3.5 stars. At first glance, The Magic Between Us looks like one of those books that could go one of two ways. It could end up being a cute, sweet story or saccharine enough to make a reader's teeth hurt. Thankfully, readers will find a lot more of the former in this tale of star-crossed lovers caught between Regency England and the land of the Fae.

Cecelia Hewitt has grown up in the land of the fae expecting that she would marry Marcus Thorne, her childhood sweetheart. However, we soon learn that Marcus is only part-fae, and he has a mother and father in the human world. Even worse for Cecelia, Marcus is the oldest son of an aristocrat in that world and so he must take up the responsibilities of his position and produce an heir. A human heir. The book opens with Marcus bidding farewell to Cecelia in a scene that convinces readers of Cecelia's heartbreak.

Six months later, Marcus and Cecelia meet once more in the human world. This time around, Cecelia has been sent on a mission and it is there that her path crosses with Marcus once more. Not surprisingly, she still feels very hurt over Marcus leaving as abruptly as he did. Not long after seeing Cecelia again for the first time, Marcus begins to realize just what he has given up. However, his sense of duty to his human family and his lingering love for Cecelia fight with each other in his mind and he just does not see how things can work out between the two of them.

Given the rules of the human world and the land of the Fae, the tension between Marcus and Cecelia feels believable. I thought Cecelia was a little quick to forgive Marcus, but given that the author makes it clear she never stopped loving him, I could accept it. The fact that Marcus and Cecelia make an endearing couple probably went a long way toward that, as I enjoyed seeing the two of them together.

I finished The Magic Between Us by Tammy Falkner, which happens to be the third Faerie book. In The Magic Between Us, we focus our attention on Marcus Thorne. If you have read the previous books you would remember Marcus as the older brother of Sophia and Claire.

Anyway, Marcus is trying figure out what to do. Now that his parents remember him and his sisters, he feels like he needs to choose which land he wants to live in. The choice to live among the faeries or to be the heir in his parents land. He believes he needs to live among the humans, so decides to leave everything has known behind even the girl he loves. Yes, I know bonehead move. Cecelia Hewitt is heart broken with Marcus decision, but that's not the only problem she's facing after Marcus left.

All right, I completely understand why Marcus felt like he needed to make a rash decision on where he should reside. Plus, it all stems from the unpardonable rules mention in the first book. However, he felt miserable without Cecelia. Now he's going to try to win Cecelia back no matter. Cecelia has felt empty ever since Marcus left, but she's afraid to trust him with her heart again. Looks like an uphill battle for Marcus.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. I love Marcus's inner conflict. He wants to stay in faerie world, but feels needs to be loyal to his parents that he just found. However, I'm glad he found balance in his life and Cecelia was the key to the balance. I like how the problem with Lord Mayden was solved. Now reading all the books it's possible to read them out of order, but I wouldn't advise it. Mostly because of Lord Mayden's villainous acts in the previous book kind of build to the ending of this book. So, if you looking for stories about faeries set in regency era, you might give The Magic Between Us a try. Maybe the other books too.

After reading the first two books in this series, I was interested in finding out how the series was going to end. Unfortunately it was rather lackluster and as I try to write this review having read the book over a month ago, it’s also forgettable. So, I’ve pulled the book up on my e-reader to scan the book once again and I’m afraid the book still doesn’t stand out.

In this series, we’ve followed Marcus’ two sisters as they find love and now it’s his turn. So the basic premise of this series is that a Fae and a human married and had six kids. Three of those kids were fae and the other three were human. The human kids stayed with their parents and the other three were shipped off to the fae world to live with other family member. Memories were modified and years down the road when the kids are grown, they run into their parents and attempt to form a family… as well as see if they can conform to the human world.

Back to Marcus’s story. He grew up in the fae world, but now that he’s met his parents and found out he’s the oldest son, he’s heir and he wants to fit into the human world. In his mind, this includes turning his back on his fae heritage and faerie girlfriend, Cecelia. Then we have Cecelia, who has loved Marcus forever and thought that they’d be together. Then he leaves her and she’s left with a broken heart and a bad home situation. Time passes and they run into each other and Marcus wants her back but she’s hesitant and who can blame her.

The main conflict here is Marcus trying to reconcile being a fae in the human world and then trying to win back Cecelia’s heart. Problem was, this just wasn’t enough for me. I also had problems connecting to either Marcus or Cecelia and therefore couldn’t connect to their relationship either. This just wasn’t a memorable book and that was a shame since I did enjoy the first two books in the series.

Cecilia and Marcus are Fae, what exactly I am not sure but their familiars are garden gnomes. And they go on missions to better “fae-dom” and humanity. Their story starts out when Marcus (half human, apparently) must leave to be with his human family. How and why he was taken from his human family and raised in “fae-dom” was not completely explained so that backstory was a little murky. He apparently has 2 sisters like him (half fae and half human who was also taken and then returned…and have made the transition to human life)…and 3 more just human siblings (one brother and 2 other sisters). How that happened when their mother is fae and their father human was also not explained. Regardless of the magical thread running through, the problems and issues are intrinsically human - abandonment, alcoholism, etc. The going back and forth between worlds was a little distracting but the emotions all the characters feel are forefront. While I was left going “huh?” in a lot of places, I found that concentrating on Cecilia and Marcus’ struggle was key to enjoying this book. If you can gloss over some of the missing info, accept the “just isms” – this was an entertaining traipse through building and re-building trust, faith and love.

THE MAGIC BETWEEN US by Tammy Falkner is an exciting Regency Historical Paranormal Romance with a magical twist, set in the land of the Fae and England. This is Marcus Thorne and Cecelia Hewitt. Two people fated from different worlds, Cecelia from the Fae world, Marcus, has human parents, who want or need him to take his position within the British ton. When, two worlds conclude,sparks fly but can their love survive?

Filled with magic, passion, a bit of danger, romance and love. This is the continuing story of the Thorne family. I enjoyed learning more on Ronald, the troublesome gnome. An entertaining story with some witty banter, serious doubt, and dangerous rivalry. A must read for anyone who enjoys the magical world of the Fae, the Regency era, and the whimsical world of magic. CeCe, and Marcus has passion that burns hot, and a love that runs true. Well written with engaging characters, and a well thought out storyline. I look forward to the next installment. This was another enchanting story by Ms. Falkner. Not just a romance but a magical romance where magic grows stronger everyday. Received for an honest review from the publisher.

I just love romance stories like this one. The ones that are light, happy, sweet and simply magical are such a delight to get lost in. I have to say that I love the mix of Regency England with Fairies. For some reason this is a perfect combo!

Cecelia is mad at Marcus. They grew up know that they would marry and have children together. Then Marcus leaves Cecelia to live in the human world and to look for a human wife. Now Cecelia has entered the human world for two reasons; to help Marcus’ family with her magic and to get a bit of rest before dealing with her own problems at home. But as soon as Marcus sees her he knows she is the one he is supposed to be with. How can he change her mind and help her with her own problems.

The Faerie series is a wonderful mix of Paranormal and Historical Romance. The Magic Between Us is the third in this series but can be read as a standalone. I have only read two books so far in this series and have loved both of them. They are enjoyable, easy and fun books to read with characters that are so interesting because they seem so real. I really hope there will be more to this series!

Because I had received a copy for free I jumped right in to The Magic Between Us without reading the first two books in the series. I did have some initial confusion on the world building, faeries in historical London, but I felt that Tammy Falkner did a good job of introducing the reader to what she had created. For years Marcus and Cecelia dreamed of the life that they shared but when Marcus’s circumstances changed and he had to assume his position in his family in London he had to leave Cecelia behind. Heartbroken she stayed away from him for six months until a request from Marcus’s grandmother brings them together again. Marcus has come to realize the mistake he made in saying goodbye to Cecelia but she is not ready to forgive and her life has changed since they last met. As Marcus performs a spectacular hero grovel, Cecelia slowly opens herself up to a chance to the one man she’s always loved. Good read but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the first two books in the Faerie series.

When Marcus Thorne breaks up with Cecelia Hewitt and leaves her in the faerie realm to accept his responsibilities as the eldest son of an aristocrat in the human world, she is heartbroken. Marcus and Cecelia have been sweethearts, since they were children. Now, they must figure out how to live apart or compromise and live together in both worlds.

THE MAGIC BETWEEN US, while not my favorite in the Faerie series, is an enjoyable, paranormal read with interesting quirky characters. While I can understand Cecelia's hurt over Marcus' treatment of her. Once they become close again, Cecelia seems to take a little too long to confide in Marcus. Marcus is torn between two worlds and trying to prove himself to a family, that he has always wanted. Marcus makes some mistakes but does a credible job of redeeming himself.

All in all, THE MAGIC BETWEEN US is an entertaining read, which makes a nice addition to the Faerie series.

The romance between these two were different in away. They did not struggle as much, but they still struggled some. The thing is that they were in love from page one, they had been since childhood but then...drama!

The book is a part of a series but you can still read it as a standalone. Marcus found out about his parents in the human world and his father want him to take over the title. So there is where we are. Marcus wants to show his parents he loves them so he leaves Faerie and Cecilia behind. Big mistake, why leave the love of your life!? Oh Marcus. No wonder Cecilia is pissed when she comes to England on a mission. The rest of the book he tries to win her back. There is also another plot which shows why Cecilia can't marry him and that was a more emotional plot.

I liked Marcus and Cecilia, they clearly belonged together. They just both had to find a way to be together as they lived in different worlds.

Lots of passion promised.

This book was mildly enjoyable, but not well fleshed-out. Limited plot, limited obstacles, limited characterization. The language/tone was very conversational, which I didn't care for in the historical setting. I didn't like Marcus all that much, mostly because he walked out on Cecilia for no good reason. they could have very easily stayed in touch, but he had nothing to do with her, no letters, etc. for 6 months, then he sees her again and seems to instantly decide he wants her in his life forever. It just didn't sit well with me.

That said, I will probably go back and read book 2, just so I complete the series. I read book 1, but even after seeing details of those characters in this book, reading a snippet and the plot synopsis, I still can't recall any other details about it, nor how much I liked or disliked it! I know I liked it well enough to want to read the other books in the series, but that's about it.

The Magic Between Us opens by diving right into the fanciful world of the Fae, its sacrosanct Rules, mischievous creatures, and the charming magical elements of traveling between realms combined with a mission with characters from the first two books in the series. Those things worked for me. Cecelia and Marcus's manufactured obstacles didn't. If Marcus were mature enough to have a couple of in-depth discussions with Cecelia and his parents, their problems would get solved in ten pages.

T.F.'s writing style and clever spin on the Fae and magical abilities are engaging enough for me to look forward to her next title even though the premise for Cecelia and Marcus's romantic gauntlet to their HEA didn't appeal.

The Magic Between Us follows Marcus and his long time love Cece. Unfortunately, Marcus and Cece are torn a part by his duties to the human world. Cece is left in the world of Fae, and her life starts to unravel. They are brought back together for a mission that needs to be completed, but there is a lot of hurt still there.

This is a sweet and touching story. It also follows addiction and the effects it has, not only on the person, but the people around them.

I have seen other reviews where the readers were confused about certain things. Keep in mind this is the third book in a series. It can be a stand alone, but is always better when read in order to avoid confusion.
