One night in Wonderland is just the start of my adventures…
On my twenty-fifth birthday, I decide enough is enough. Family responsibilities have made dating impossible. Now I’m single and inexperienced. Like, completely . My virginity is a millstone around my neck. And I want to get rid of it.
All I need is one night, with one stranger, so I don’t look like an idiot when I start dating for real. My sister convinces this country bumpkin to sign up for Tinder, and to head to the city.
My first two matches are complete failures, and I’m about to give up. Then I see Kip’s profile. I swipe right, and so does he. We chat for ages, and agree to meet that evening for dinner.
He’s gorgeous. Kind. Sexy. Wicked. Perfect. So I tell him I want him to teach me as much as he can before the sun comes up.
I ask for one night. But it’s only the start of Alice’s adventures in Wonderland…

Tropes Fling, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, fairy-tale retelling, virgin heroine, one-night stand, instalove, soul mates, alpha hero, billionaire, he falls first
USA Today bestselling author Serenity Woods writes emotionally warm billionaire romance with luxury, escapism, and breathtaking New Zealand settings. Her books combine warmth, wit, and wanderlust with unforgettable happily-ever-afters.
Beautifully written, the true ups and downs of life portrayed like it should be. Loved the warmth after each character, Alice of wonderland and kip. Blessed to be friends first then loves of each other's lives. The beautiful interaction of family ties makes this story a good one to read.
5 star review of Alice and The Billionaire Boss (A Boss in a Billion #5) by Serenity Woods
Another fabulous read from Serenity Woods. I was hooked on the story that Ms. Woods wove from the first chapter to the last. This was an entertaining, well written story with characters whose story you cannot help but become invested in.
Alice’s life is busy, she has no time for herself, what with her podcast and looking after her mother. Meeting Kip she decides that the time is right to make some changes in her life.
Kip is everything that you want in a book boyfriend, he is caring, swoon worthy and protective not to mention a little bossy. I did have a harder time connecting to Alice but I got there in the end.
Their biggest problem is that due to Alice’s commitments she doesn’t feel that she can do a long distance relationship but Kip is determined. Seeing some familiar faces make an appearance just added to my enjoyment.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book.
This X-rated romance was…exquisite! Considering how ‘naughty’ it was, there was a real romance here. The main characters were both honest about their feelings, always sharing, very sensitive to their own and their partner’s needs, and family oriented. I could just read this over and over!
Alice is twenty five, and has never had the opportunity to have a relationship. When she was still a child her father died, and her mother was completely overwhelmed with grief. Soon they discovered she was ill, with multiple sclerosis. Since Alice was sixteen she has been her mother’s full-time carer. She is determined that her younger sister Charlie will lead a proper life, she has one year left at university in Wellington. Charlie intends to come home once university is over, and help to care for their mother, but Alice is determined that she will have a full life, with husband and children, and good job, all the things that are not available for herself.
Alice’s joy is science fiction, and she has created a well known blog and pod cast where she reviews the latest sci-fi fiction, and interviews authors. Occasionally her aunt, who has four children, and a full time job as a nurse, comes to look after Alice’s mother for a few days to give Alice a break. As the book starts she is in Wellington to take Charlie home at the end of the university year. At her sister’s insistence she has signed up to Tinder, and is fairly determined to enjoy her first one-night stand.
Her first venture into dating is a disaster, and she soon changes her mind and tells him to go. Soon afterwards she meet Kip, and there is an instant attraction between them. He is everything she could wish for, including nine noughts in his bank account - but she doesn’t know that. None of it matters anyway, because for Alice it is only ever going to be a one night stand. She doesn’t tell Kip very much about herself, but he learns enough to be able to track her down when she returns home. When he discovers more about her he realises that they have often ‘spoken’ on her blog, and he regularly listens to her podcasts.
And so begins their long-distance relationship. They speak on the phone practically every evening, sometimes for hours, and they message all the time. Kip is always trying to work out a way they can be together, but the biggest drawback is Alice’s fixed ideas about how her life is going to be, despite her feelings for Kip. There are many twists and turns in their .relationship before they can even reach agreement that it is possible to be together, but I think most readers will be rooting for Kip to succeed, he is such a lovely character.
Very well worth reading.

Kip and Alice’s story in Alice and the Billionaire Boss by Serenity Woods, book five in her A Boss in a Billion series, is a heartwarming, emotional journey and reminder that it only takes one person, the right person, “the one,” to change your life.
Alice has had a difficult life causing her to miss out on the usual teenage flings and university to care for her mum; suffering from MS. She has a weekend off from her usual responsibilities and is determined to lose her virginity via tinder. Setting up a Tinder account, she posts a picture or two, and shares her interest in science fiction and gaming, hoping for a bit of commonality with any prospects. Not as easy as you may think. Kip, a billionaire CEO of a booming tech company, has had a dreadful day at the office. After an awful, traumatic confrontation with his best friend and member of his tech team, he needed a distraction. Dusts off his languishing Tinder account, Kip stumbles across Alice. Sharing her interests, he messages her. These two shared many interests, he loved listening to talk about her podcasts; as luck would have it, their worlds collide and down the rabbit hole they go.
After a night of passion Alice did not expect to fall hard and fast for a man who is kind, caring and protective. Kip knew from the beginning that Alice was it for him and fights to win the love of a woman who was only meant to be one night. Determined to make Alice realize miles apart can be overcome. It was never going to be easy and Alice will need to figure out whether to accept love or insist she needs to give up on love and her dreams. Is it possible for their Wonderland to ever be real?
Ms. Woods wrote a wonderful, emotional and passionate story that should not be missed. She made clear connections to “Alice in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass” with the link between those books and this story being magical. This descriptive tale set in New Zealand, is rich with sizzling chemistry, clever banter, the magic of love, and endearing secondary characters giving Alice and Kip a chance at love, happiness, and a future together. I highly recommend Alice and the Billionaire Boss to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This story has some Alice in Wonderland ties. Yeah, he's filthy rich but no, he's not her boss. Although she might occasionally enjoy when he's bossy.
Alice hasn't been able to date because she's busy running her book review podcast and has also been a full time caregiver for her wheelchair bound mother since she was sixteen. When she gets a few days off she wants to live a little and have a one-night stand. There are some aborted Tinder attempts but when she meets Kip they have common interests, a similar sense of humor and an instant physical spark. Outside of their acquaintance, he is having some trouble with a former friend who used to work with him. The beginning of this story is a really cute, funny story of falling into the rabbit hole of instalove. However, Alice is convinced that it can't become anything more long-term because of her caregiver duties and because she lives on the other side of New Zealand, and the latter part of the book sees her trying to fall on her sword and sacrifice her own happiness even though she's never asked if the people she's sacrificing herself for want her to do so.
I liked Kip better than Alice because a lot of the time it seems that he's the one making all the effort. Alice is trying to break up with him and to come up with reasons why they can't be together and he's the one trying to find reasons to make it work, to find ways for them to be a couple. He's a pretty perfect book boyfriend, sexy and funny and caring. He falls first, fast and hard. And I felt Kip's heartbreak. Alice's negative thought processes had me wanting to shake her as she kept refusing every possible solution to the long distance problem because she has to be a martyr for her mom forever. When they come back together, again it's Kip flying across the country and offering solutions. But I thought it was Alice's turn to reach out and grovel.
Series status: You could read it as a stand-alone but Kip's twin who is a pretty big part of the plot has his own book and there are other, more minor characters familiar from previous stories doing cameos.
Steam level: Kip is trying very hard to make up for Alice's previous steam deprivation.
I received a free copy and this is a voluntary review.
I was very kindly sent an ARC so that I could read and review it early.
And yowza! I knew I was excited for Kip's book for a reason.
We really dig into his character in this one, why he is who he is, what makes him both assertive and humble at the same time, and what really makes him tick.
I loved it. I also loved getting to know Alice - who I like to think is a bit like all of us reviewers, and such a clever, different profession for her to have in comparison to other heroines. She's generous, compassionate, innocent, but not a doormat, and genuinely lovely.
The supporting cast of Chevaliers continues to impress me, ans Alice's family also takes center stage in this one, which I thought was beautiful.
The story moves along the timeline nicely, focusing on key points but still keeping it on a forward trajectory, and the writing remains on point as it always has been. Serenity Woods creates compelling characters and stories even or maybe especially when they're facing hardships and/or arguing. And as I'm in my 30s myself, I thoroughly appreciate the mature handling of relationships in all her books.
One thing that I was slightly miffed by was Saxon not apologizing for pushing Kip into a corner and goading him out. I suppose if that's how things usually go it makes sense, but with the explosive consequences one would THINK Kip wouldn't be the only one to say sorry. Damon, interestingly, is the only brother who acknowledges Saxon is an arse in that moment too.
But aside from this I loved the book. It's a love story, true, but it's also about taking control of your life and choices, as well as trusting someone else not to take that from you. It's wonderfully resonant, and I thought the illness factor was also explored very thoughtfully.
10/10 would recommend, and you'll need tissues when you read! This book releases in just a few days so be sure to grab a copy.
Now, on to Damon next. And maybe we'll see another King pop up for a little catch-up along the way!
Alice and the Billionaire Boss by Serenity Woods A Boss in a Billion #5 The Wellington Billionaires #2
Loved it ~ couldn’t put it down once I started reading because I *had* to find out how it all would work out! Every book I have read by this author has been wonderful!
What I liked: * Alice: reminded me of myself at 25…and being in the same virginal boat even though I had dated a LOT more than Alice had! Kind, caring, protective, family oriented, responsible, knowledgeable but naïve, forthright, honest, a delight, really liked her * Kip: a knight in shining armor, problem solver, alpha, billionaire, identical twin, gentle, kind, caring, “sweet”, good friend, kind, brilliant, responsible, definitely drawn to Alice * Charlie: Alice’s younger sister, university student, loves her mother and sister, has a dilemma to deal with at the end of the story * Penelope: Alice & Charlie’s mother, has MS, requires full-time care, feels she is a burden, positive person with periods of depression, wants a happy normal life for her daughters, feels she is an obstacle, liked her * The allusions to Alice in Wonderland * Learning more of both main characters’ backstories * The first night that Kip and Alice spent together – it would be wonderful if all first times were like that * Getting to see how Kip’s family is doing * The dialogue and relationship between Kip and Alice – it made me smile :) * The way everything is eventually resolved for a HEA * Wondering who Damon will end up with in the next book of the series
What I didn’t like: * Thinking about the difficulties and stresses that chronic illness places on the ill and their caregiving family members * The friction caused by Craig at work and the impact it had on more than one person in his life
Did I enjoy this book? Yes Would I read more in this series? Definitely
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
Well, Serenity Woods, you have done it again, had me a blubbering , emotional wreck at 3.30am. Alice Liddell's father had died when she was young and when her adored mother was diagnosed with MS when Alice was sixteen years old, she gave up everything to be her full time carer. Now twenty five years old Alice had been determined that her younger sister was going to have the life that she had missed and Charlie now had one more year to do at uni before she and Alice could share their mother's care. Charlie felt guilty that Alice had sacrificed so much for her and had missed out on so much of what life had to offer, she persuaded her to set up a Tinder account , that didn't go well until........... Billionaire Kip Chevalier had been badly hurt by an ex and now resorted to Tinder if he wanted female company, he wasn't looking for commitment, he was a workaholic (although he did secretly envy his twin brother's new relationship).................then along came Alice, extremely nervous, devastatingly beautiful Alice with a naivety that he had never come across before. Alice soon felt comfortable chatting to the tall, handsome Kit, they had many shared interests, he loved listening about her podcasts, they were so alike in many ways except one, the elephant in the room, Alice needed to confess. This is a Serenity Woods story so you know that they are going to get their HEA but the journey is arduous, Alice cannot leave her mother and move hundreds of miles away, Kip lives in another world, in another city but he is willing to fight for Alice, I must admit that at times I wanted to kick her up the rear end, she was so tunnel visioned but I did love her naivety, I loved their conversations, I loved how compassionate, caring but determined Kit was and I loved the passion that sparked between then In fact I loved this story full stop. I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
Alice and the Billionaire Boss is a fun riff on the stories of Alice in Wonderland.
At 25-years-old, Alice has been her mother's caretaker for nearly a decade. She has forgone the chance to finish school or attend university, to ensure her younger sister had those opportunities. Her family responsibilities have kept her busy enough that friendships and romantic relationships are non-existent. On her trip to Wellington to pick up her sister, Alice decides now is the time to lose her virginity. She's tired of feeling awkward and inexperienced and figures a one-night stand from Tinder will be good enough.
Kip is having some issues at the company he and his brothers run. An ex, who badly hurt him, is trying to weasel her way into his life, even though she just became engaged. His birthday's the next day, so his PA encourages him to find a Tinder date. A swipe and chat leads to Alice and Kip having a double-date birthday dinner with Kip's twin, Saxon (from the previous book in the series, Cinderella and the Billionaire Boss.) One night clearly isn't enough for either of them, but Alice lives nearly nine hours away by car and is determined to not start something she knows her heart can't handle.
Alice and the Billionaire Boss dug into various types of personal relationships and all their complexities. Kip is feeling jealous over his brother's relationship, wanting something similar for himself. A co-worker, someone he considered a best friend, is causing unnecessarily strife in his already intense work life. Alice loves her mother enough to forgo forging a life of her own. She loves her sister so much she's willing to lock herself into her current endless existence in order to give everyone else what she thinks they want. She's rightfully accused of being a martyr. It was super frustrating to read Alice behaving this way and repeatedly trying to deny it, since I otherwise liked her as a character. Alice had options if only she'd get out of her own way. Kip went out of his way to make Alice feel safe and cared for, so I can't imagine how hurt he felt with some of her decisions.
One of the few situations I took issue with was with Kip's former friend, Craig. Craig is behaving like a total jerk to his co-workers and his wife. While I'm glad Craig was called out and suffered the consequences for his poor behavior, I wish Kip could have been more understanding about what led Craig down the path he took. I can strongly disagree with a friend's actions, but still understand how they may have felt there were no good options.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.
- there is a third act breakup and it’s a bit of a bumpy ride tho whole time - mild angst; you believe they’ll be together, but it takes a minute to get there - there’s good communication, except for the main problem. - lots of spice throughout - strong, smart, compassionate characters - HEA - dual POV
This follows Alice, a pod caster who also handles all the care for her mom who has MS, and Kip, the billionaire business man. They meet through a Tinder match. She is 26 but has been sheltered due to her life/situation w her mom and wants to lose her virginity. She and Kip meet and not only do sparks fly but they have a real friendship and lots of things in common.
The first half was great - lots of cute text messages and banter as they get to know each other. The only thing standing in the way of them being together is the care of her mom. Once they got together, her stubbornness and refusal to talk w Kip and her mom/sister about ways to solve this problem becomes beyond annoying.
There was also a whole thing about how Kip was “controlling” and he questions if he’s arrogant and bossy. He’s not; at least we’re not even really shown him to have those traits. She thinks he’s bossy in the bedroom, but apparently she’s never read a romance novel lol. Like, girlfriend? Get it together. That whole bit was confusing and made no sense. I also wasn’t entirely sure why he was so willing to put up w her.
Anywho, it’s okay. Not my favorite and not as good as the first. I’ll try another one, tho. I do like the authors writing style. It just dragged in the middle.
Alice Liddell and Kip Chevalier have an interesting first meeting on Tinder with 25 year old Alice looking for a one night stand to lose her pesky virginity. She only has two nights in Wellington before she has to go back home to take care of her mother. She is lucky on her 2nd night and meets Kip with whom she actually clicks and he wants more than just one night! Alice, however, knows it is impossible. She has given up her life to care for her mother so her younger sister Charlie can have one.
Kip is anything but a quitter. He realizes his feelings for Alice are strong and what a gem she is and will not give up. He pursues her gently but continuously and she realizes how wonderful he is but that they can never be. The sexy times and chemistry between these two are off the charts and whenever they can get together, they make the most of it! The push (by Alice) and pull (from Kip) kept me intrigued along with the members of Kip's family we have met from other books. His twin brother Saxon and girlfriend Catie and the twins and his other brother Damon. There is drama to deal with at their company and also with Alice's sister, Charlie.
But I was so happy to see they were able to work out their HEA and especially thrilled to get an Epilogue, which I love!! I can't wait to read Damon's story next!
Alice and the Billionaire Boss is the perfect addition to the A Boss in a Billion Series. This is Alice and Kip’s emotional and entertaining journey. Alice is the eldest daughter and from the moment her father passed away she has given up her dreams for her mum who has MS and her younger sister. Working from home as a sci-fi and fantasy book reviewer she also does podcasts on a rare weekend away from home she meets Kip through Tinder and decides a night of passion is just what she needs what she didn’t expect was to fall hard and fast for man who is kind, caring and protective. Kip is Saxon’s twin brother so we have met him in a previous book and we do have an insight into him but in this book he comes into his own as he fights to win the love of a woman who was only meant to be one night. Determined to make Alice realise miles apart can be overcome was never going to be easy so will she give in to love or will she insist she needs to give upon love and her dreams…….. This book has it all, it has adorable characters that you will easily bond with, it’s full of love, kindness and passion but it was the determination Kip had to win the love of his life that took this read to the next level. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this story.
At 25 Alice is more than ready to turn in her V-card. Family obligations have rendered her social life virtually nil since she was sixteen. An out-of-town trip to Wellington provides an opportunity to take care of the matter. Opening a brand new Tinder account, she posts including her interest in science fiction and gaming, hoping for a bit of commonality with any prospects.
Kip, 29 year old billionaire CEO of a booming tech company, has had an abysmal day at the office. His best friend and highly valued member of his tech team has just metaphorically stabbed him in the back. The resulting confrontation in the office leads to shouting, insults and emotional trauma. Hoping for a distraction, Kip dusts off his languishing Tinder account and stumbles across Alice. Sharing her interests, he messages her.
And so it begins …….. but with nine hours of highway and disparate lifestyles between them, can their Wonderland ever be real?
The saga of the billionaire brothers continues. Ms. Woods does not disappoint. Clever dialogue serves to move the story along nicely. There's plenty of spice but a strong plot line as well. Choosing this novel is definitely the "right swipe". I received an ARC of this novel. This is my honest review.
I really liked Kip from his roles in the other Wellington Billionaires books and loved him in his brother Saxon's story. I was so excited to read Kip's story and was very happy that the author released it so quickly and it didn't disappoint.
Kip really grew and matured throughout this story and proved that love - with a bit of help from money - really can overcome everything. Serenity portrayed people living with a chronic illness/disability in a wonderful way, showing how hard their carers can have it but also how full everyone's lives can still be. I did become frustrated with Alice at times as it seemed that she had a martyr complex - even though that's understandable with placing her life on hold to care for her mum and younger sister for so many years - didn't seem to want to try and think of possible solutions so she could be with Kip and her mum and shot down all of his suggestions without giving them a proper thought or exploring them fully.
All in all, it was a fun read that explored some fairly heavy topics in a sensitive and non-preachy way.
I received a free ARC in return for my honest review.
Another solid addition to this series! I think I enjoyed Alice and the Billionaire Boss just as much as the others. At this point I know these books are going to be a little predictable, but honestly, that’s kind of why I keep picking them up. They’re cute, easy to read, and leave me feeling good by the end.
One thing I really appreciate is that, even though all of the MMCs are billionaires, they don’t feel completely unrealistic or out of touch. They’re written to be down-to-earth and relatable, which makes the romances much more enjoyable.
I actually liked Kip more than Alice, which is unusual for me because I almost always end up connecting more with the FMC. Kip was just so easy to root for.
The “will they, won’t they” tension is definitely alive and well in this one. It’s a little cliché, but I clearly don’t mind because I’m still happily eating it up. 😂
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this whole series so far. It’s been such a great palate cleanser between heavier or darker books. Sometimes you just need a sweet, low-drama romance with likable characters, and these books have consistently delivered exactly that. On to the next one!
This 3-book series revolves around 3 billionaire brothers who become obsessed with the women that they meet as one-night stands. These are men who are used to getting their ways and using their money to solve problems but life is not that simple and not all problems can be solved with money. This book is very sweet and very sexy at the same time. Alice is a virgin and wants one night with a man to solve her virginity problem once and for all. Kip is up for the challenge and cannot get enough of Alice. The sexual awakening and Alice in Wonderland themes are really fun and steamy. But Serenity's books always have depth and everyday, real-life situations and this book goes into the challenges and sacrifices of being a caregiver for a family member. There is heartache and angst in the romance since Alice must give her mother full-time care. And the story is about control and how it enters into relationships. I was really afraid this time that the Queen of Happy Endings was going to be dethroned but she came through with a beautiful and loving ending.
I have to say that Alice and The Billionaire Boss is my favorite book in this series!
It didn't take long at all to fall in love with Alice and Kip! Kip is hot, sexy and nerdy, all at the same time and Alice, a nerd in her own right, is wonderfully naive and adventurous.
Serenity Woods digs deeper into the relationship of Kip and Alice then typical romances do, but the book didn't drag at all, rather it flowed effortlessly and kept my attention right from page 1 to the last page.
Kip knew from the get go that Alice was it for him but Alice valiantly fought her feelings. I have to admit that when Alice flew back from Wellington to Ghisbane and "ended" their relationship, I found myself hoping she was pregnant so they would still have to have contact.
Additionally, the scenes between Alice and her mom (and sister) were heart breaking and I literally needed Kleenex for their discussions.
I didn't want this book to end and found my self unable to put it down and I strongly recommend it! I received an ARC in return for my unbiased review
Alice and Kip He’s Saxons twin from the previous book.
I really liked the Alice in Wonderland use in the story- how her podcast was named Wonderland.
The meet on tinder. She just wants a one night stand to lose her v card because she’s 25. But once they meet and he gently takes it - he isn’t giving her up. She has to take care of her mom though who has MS and lives 9 hours away.
They have so much in common and they start talking every day becoming best friends. Then she has a chance to travel to see him again for a few days and even though she can’t see how they could have a future she wants to have this time with him.
He ends up going to visit her and meeting her mom. They get closer and say I love you’s”. Her sister is supposed to help her care for her mother once she graduates in a year. But she meets a guy and wants to get married- Alice breaks up with him so her sister can have the hea. The mom calls Kip.. they make plans / Kip flys in and surprises them with the plans and a proposal.
Hea they move and are engaged to be married in a few months

I loved it! Serenity always has her characters interesting and this book has all those favorite characters you’ve loved! I loved all theirs special things that are done! Beautiful houses, private planes, yummy food and lovely clothes! Although we may not have all of that we find that these “ rich” people have all of the problems of others! In fact, probably more as their wealth has others love them for their money!
I also, loved all the little extra knowledge that they both had about things! And, of course, this contains steamy love making! I also, loved the puns!
This is a Stand Alone HEA that you’ll love Alice & Kip and they will provoke strong feelings in you!I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good love story! I raced thru it again as I do for her other books and had to go to sleep late last night and read the epilogue early this morning!
I read this as an ARC but, it did not influence this review! Be sure and put it on your TBR list!
Alice has been taking care of her mother and her sister since she was sixteen. Now at 25, Alice decides its time to lose her virginity and find a man on Tinder. After almost giving up, Alice matches up with Kip. Not only do they spend a very steamy night together, Kip and Alice match well outside of the bedroom. Alice was only looking for one night, but Kip wants much more. As a sole caretaker of her mother with M.S. and living nine hours away, Alice doesn't see a relationship continuing. Kip doesn't want to lose her. I received a free copy of this ebook from the author. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This is a romance with many steamy scenes as Kip and Alice reconnect. What I love about Serenity Woods's stories is connecting and rooting for the wonderfully developed characters in her books. I also love seeing their connections with other people in the story.
Kip was the dream partner. Kind, generous, loving, patient etc. Alice really lucked out. I liked the way Kip and Alice's relationship developed. I thought it was sad that Alice could not see the forest for the trees.
I do feel like as miserable as Alice was at times, she felt comfortable in the martyr role. I don't know how Kip managed, as I found myself being frustrated with Alice.
I think there were more physically intimate moments in this book than the others I have read, but they were very sensual moments.
It is not often that I find a book that makes me smile as I read it. I can say that I smiled almost throughout the entire book. Kip and Alice had fun, witty conversations. The banter between Kip, Saxon, and Damon was also witty and humorous.
I felt vindicated when Kip asked Penny that question. That was exactly what I had been waiting for Alice to do. It became increasingly clear the question was no longer something she thought about asking.
This was a sweet, steamy, romantic story that encompassed real world issues and decisions. It was nice having a billionaire boyfriend to help resolve them. I was glad everyone got their HEA.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I found this story so heartwarming in the fact that Alice at the age of 16 took care of her mother fulltime. When her father died her mother got sick with MS and couldn’t take care of herself. Alice also made sure her sister got to go to university. What a selfless person. Now at the age of 25 she wants to know more about life and is ready to get rid of her V card. Her sister talks her into going on Tinder and when the first guy didn’t work out, she was going to delete Tinder but when she got a super like she decided to try one more time. That is when she met Kip. As for Kip being her boss, that only happened in the bedroom, lol. They got along so well but knowing she was only there for three nights visiting her sister as her aunt watched her mother, she knew it couldn’t work out. Kip was determined to make it work but there were a lot of trials and roadblocks that needed to be worked through. Needless to say, a one-night stand was never going to be enough.
Alice has taken car of her Mother since she was 14. Her sister, Charlie is in her last year at Uni and will be coming home to help Alice take care of their mother. Now she is worried about her lack of experience, she hasn't dated, her last kiss was at 12. She is picking up her sister a couple days early so she can try to find someone on Tinder. Kip had had a bad week. He decided to try Tinder. With his looks and wealth getting dates was not a problem. But knowing whether it was him or his money. After talking for awhile Kip sensed how nervous she was so Kip set up a double date for dinner his twin and his girl with possible drinks after. I fell in love with Alice and her kind soul. But my first love was Kip his kindness, patience, and understanding. It may be because he reminds me of my Kip but this without a doubt my favorite Serenity Woods book. Don't miss out on a wonderful love story
Dnf at 23%. The writing wasn’t my style, it seemed to be for a more mature audience despite the young characters.
I couldn’t gel with the lead characters too, it felt like I was watching two 65 year olds flirt with each other.
What really grinded my gears though was the pick me nature of the female lead, and the male lead’s reaction to her. The classic "wow she’s so different to other girls, I can’t believe other women don’t think like she does ugh she’s so special". Which ew. I’ve noticed that authors from older generations tend to include lines like that a lot in their books. It’s a very outdated concept, it’s (internalised) misogyny and it’s one that the girlies hate. If you’re trying to pander to a younger gen (e.g. 18-25 year olds), that’s defo not the way to go.
I wanted to love this, the plot line seemed like it was going to be good and was very well set out - but I just couldn’t get behind the dialogue.
Another great story from Serenity Woods. Little hints of classic stories, no surprise this one is Alice in wonderland. A very enjoyable read.
What is lovely about these tales is that the billionaire main character, in this story it’s Kip’s turn, are down to earth and hard working. Poor Alice’s life is very tough going and she has missed out on the usual teenage flings and university to care for her mum. She has a weekend off from her usual challenges and responsibilities and is determined to loose her virginity via tinder. Not as easy as you may think! But as would luck would have it their worlds collide and down the rabbit hole they go.
As with all of Serenity’s tales, nothing is ever straight forward but as friendships and shared interests deepen I find myself rooting for love to prevail.
Serenity’s stories never disappoint. I have to say that I was a little irritated with Alice’s sister swanning off for a nice little holiday and complicating matters even further. Give the girl a break and step up I would mutter to myself! Nevertheless keep turning the pages maybe love finds a way?
It would have been interesting to have some of the other Alice in wonderland characters a bit more full on but I did wonder about one of the secondary characters having traits of the queen of hearts? I won’t go into any detail as I don’t want to give away any spoilers but I would be interested if others thought the same. Very enjoyable read and lovely little catch ups to some of the family/partners in the other books in the series, so also nice to know how they are getting on too. I get an arc copy for an honest review and my views are my own.
Alice and Kip are complete opposites, yet they are very much alike in many ways. Alice has given her young life for her mother and sister. One night with Kip was suppose to be just that, but the two are like magnets pulling towards each other. With much on his plate with the launch of MOTHER, his business “baby” and an employee problem this is no time for Kip to start a relationship. Yet with just a night Kip knows Alice is special. He also knows he ALWAYS finds a solution to a problem. He just hopes he can solve the problems that have the potential to keep Alice and him apart for good. Another wonderful book in the series. As with all Serenity Woods books you are drawn into the story on page one and can’t put it down. Kip is every woman’s dream and Alice is a strong, intelligent heroine. Great book!
