This is a quick read, but I'm unsure if it is worthwhile one. The author portrays the Boer's as sluggish, aloof, stubborn, dirty people at a time when England was in the midst of a war with them. The author's view of native African's is also tough to get past, as he basically condones the harsh treatment of them at the Boer's hands. Unless you're doing research on the Boer's and want a sense of what English people were reading and thinking about them, then you can probably pass on this read. Or, if you want to look at the pictures, you can do so very easily on the iBook free download. I hadn't seen an image of President Kruger yet, so it was interesting in that way. I attempted to look up more about Arthur M. Mann, and couldn't find anything, only this book popping up in searches. If anyone else has information on the author, I'd be interested to know some more.
