Sim has a unique writing style! I would give her more stars if I could! This book shows it to be fantastic! Dravyn Locke has been completely alone for the past 10 years. He is trying to decipher a passage he read in a book. We are told how he got where he is. At the age of 10, he is hidden but hears the terrible death of his family then witnesses the carnage when he emerges from hiding. He knows he is a Blessed One but never had the training. With the experiences he has dealt with, he hates everyone and everything.
A chance break from his normal routine brings him into contact with several countrymen. He is unsure about how to act with them. They cannot give him anymore information about "IT" or the plague than he has already gleaned. He tells them he wants to fix and rule the planet.
This is where Sim's style comes into play, we are not told any more about the people Dravyn meets than he knows. We don't know their history so our conclusions are based on the same information he has. A refreshing way of writing!
When they group decides to move on, Dravyn says he will go too. They end up separated and Dravyn is bitten by a wolf creature.
Later he finds he is the leader of the Cat People.
That is all the story I am telling. Can Dravyn give forgiveness? Can he accept it for himself? Will his hatred ruin everything? Great Story!
