Geoffrey was so excited about finding a job that didn't require making change that he didn't ask questions.

'Questions?' his inner voice asked. 'Take the job. Forget the questions.'

So Geoffrey did, take the job that is. It would give him a chance to work on his screenplay, "Lisbon". You see, Major Strasser doesn't die when Rick shoots him. He follows Victor and Ilsa to...

Never mind. This isn't the right time. Anyway, Geoffrey winds up learning a lot more than how a milkshake machine works, and a lot more than he bargained for. The only question was just how bad a stroke of luck meeting Miles would end up being.

After a career in dysfunctional organizations of various types I've come to the conclusion that there aren't any other kinds. My first two books, Trojan Hearse and Poor Richard, are satires about what can happen when the vast power of government is handed to knuckleheads.

Now Boarding is a little different. It's about a young guy trying to get a foothold in the adult world and almost getting his head taken off in the process.

Only a few friends and family have read them so far but I'm going to be trying to get them a little more attention and we'll see what happens.

Note: I won this book in a Goodreads First-Reads Giveaway

I really enjoyed the concept of this book and the framing of the character Geoffrey. This was a very entertaining read, but I felt it lacked in the element of surprise. The ready could easily figure out where the plot was heading steps before Geoffrey could draw any sense of a connection. If Now Boarding was written from the perspective of Geoffrey, where the reader was fully emersed in the naïve, small town thought process of the main character, it would have made for a better story.

I was very entertained throughout the book, but the ending seemed forced. All the action led up to a point and when it ended, I was in awe that it just sort of stopped.

Random side note: The last chapter seems more like an epilogue. It was very confusing b/c I didn't realize there was a lapse in time. Maybe if it was noted epilogue I would have liked the ending better and would have known that the last chapter was a closure to the story.

I really enjoyed the concept of this book, but the characters ruined it for me. Each character felt like a stereotype that was hyperbolized. The main character is the innocent nerd of the story, but he is so naive, awkward, and ignorant that his actions seem ridiculous. The plot was also driven by extreme assumptions and slippery slope fallacies that any believablity was lost.

Be prepared for one heck of a wild ride!! Once you open this book you will have to finish it!! The naive Geoffrey gets involved with an oddball man who offers him a job. The rest is jus absolutely zany.
