A single woman gets a Christmas gift that sends her world into chaos, and has her tracking down a last-minute groom – with the help of her handsome best friend.
A sweet romantic comedy novella.

Everyone probably has that one family member (whether distant or close) that makes you cringe. No matter how hard you try, they just don't seem to like you. However, by trying to be nice to them, you never know what might happen. After the death of her aunt on Christmas Day, Nikki must find a husband by February 14th, then be pregnant a year later. Follow the Christmas to Valentine's Day romantic tale of Nikki as she searches to fulfill the wishes of her great aunt's will. Of course, it can't be completed without her ever-faithful best friend, Jack. Come laugh, cry, and scream at Nikki as she embarks on her journey, and cheer when she finally has her "light bulb moment".
I was wondering how a woman who'd been so close to her 'best friend' could be clueless about his feelings for her but to Ginny Baird's credit, it was made perfectly understandable. Nikki is forced into a crazy situation by her aunt but she seeks the inheritance (given only if she marries by Valentine's Day and has a child within a year) not for her own benefit, but for her family's needs. She and Jack are both likeable characters and theirs is a story that will make you laugh, cry, swoon and want to shake some sense into them. Thankfully, it avoids most of the clichés found in the romance genre... Oh yes, it's a sweet romance but that doesn't mean that there isn't any heat!
I received a ARC of this book from the author. I've read all the books in the Holiday Brides series & have enjoyed them all. If I could only pick one favorite in the series it would be "Baby, Be Mine". This story was sweet and funny. Nikki finds out on Christmas that her Great Aunt has passed away & left her a very large inheritance. But there's 2 stipulations she has to meet before she can claim what was left to her. She must be married by Valentine's Day to receive the first part and have a child within a year. Nikki enlists her best friend Jack to help her find a last minute groom to meet the first stipulation in under 8 weeks. Nikki doesn't realize that Jack has been secretly in love with her for years. Read Baby, Be Mine to see if Nikki is able to meet the stipulations her Great Aunt left for her.
BABY, BE MINE By Ginny Baird Christmas and Nikki and her bestest friend in the whole world Jack are at the funeral and reading of the will for her great aunt Mallory. She's left the whole estate to Nikki with stipulations. She has to wed by Valentines day and get pregnant after that. Jack helps her locate all her old boyfriends over the years to see if she can get one of them to marry her-even bribe them if that is what it will take. Many are married and as she finds the others and pays them a visit she knows they are off limits. There is Jack who he's loved her since they first met when they were growing up. Her mother gives her some advice as well. She never felt like Jack as anything but her best friend....and she thinks she found the right man for the job. Jack has started dating others because he knows Nikki would never ask him to get married....will she learn in time you can't buy love? With the holidays over there is a chance she might also lose her job. What else could possibly go wrong. Just a handful of characters to keep track of. Very easy going story to follow. Love that you can skip a few books in the series, good stand alone books also. I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
1.5 The overall story was cute, but the content ruined it for me. I know Baird books aren't exactly clean, she usually has a lot of innuendos and some language, and this one had a little more than usual. One I deleted from my kindle and wont read again.
Moral Note: A few hecks & dangs each. Innuendos most not very subtle. Mentions sleeping together outside of marriage, and stuff along those lines. Nothing graphic, but you know what is going on. Drinking, mention of a prom night where she was drunk and trying to take off his tux. Again, that was all that was said, but enough for the mind to make a mental picture.
When Aunt Mallory forces Nikki to make some tough decisions, will she make the right decision, and will it bring her joy or sorrow? Will her best friend Jack stay along for the ride?
I have now had the pleasure to read two great stories by Ginny Baird, I enjoyed Baby, Be Mine just as much as the first book I read by her. Ms. Baird has a talent for writing a fun story, with a few twists and turns, some humor, and a nice sweet romance.
Nikki Constantino has not had the best luck with men. It just never seems to work out. However, her best friend Jack is always there for her to help her pick up the pieces or lend a shoulder.
When Nikki needs to marry quickly she sets out to find a husband from a list of her ex-boyfriends. Is she missing the perfect mate right in front of her?
Is her Great Aunt's wishes enough to show Nikki and Jack what they are missing out on? They have a few things to overcome but this sure was a fun friendship turned romantic relationship story to read. I thought it was so sweet that Jack has had a crush on Nikki for a long time but did not think the feelings were returned. He was willing to step aside and let Nikki marry someone else if that would make her happy. I loved watching their relationship take the turns from a deep friendship into a loving relationship. I always enjoy stories about a romance between friends. It's so nice to have a strong base for a romantic relationship.
If you are looking for a fun story, with some laughs and a sweet romance, you should check out Baby, Be Mine. This is a fairly short story that may be read in one setting. I really enjoyed this story and I look forward to reading more of Ginny Baird's work.
I was given the opportunity to read this book so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my pleasure to share my thoughts with you about Baby, Be Mine.
Baby, Be Mine was a wonderful little story. Not too long and easy to read, it was a sweet, funny romance about a girl who couldn't see the forest for the trees. Nikki needs to get married. No...that's not why. Her Great Aunt Mallory has died and left Nikki a fortune...on two conditions. One, she has to get married by February 14th--a scant 8 weeks away--and two, she must have a baby a year later. The thing is, Nikki doesn't have a boyfriend at the moment. Oh, she has had several over the years but they never seem to last. Same with her best friend, Jack. His girlfriends are always lacking something or become upset over the fact that his best friend is a girl. Jack knows why his relationships lack staying power. He is and has always been in love with his best friend. Nikki doesn't have a clue. And she has just asked for his help in finding a husband. "...he knew he couldn't deny the one person on earth he loved. Nikki'd had his heart forever, and now--without even being aware--she was going to stomp all over it." The husband hunt is on and the clock is ticking. I loved Jack. He was such a sweetheart with the patience of a saint. On the other hand, I wanted to grab Nikki by the shoulders and shake her, rip off those blinders she was wearing and show her what was right in front of her...of what she was tossing away. It was so frustrating to see her overlook Jack but that is what drove the story as well. I enjoyed my afternoon with Nikki and Jack and their very humorous husband hunt. Received through a Goodreads/Firstreads giveaway.
Baby, Be Mine is a great idea--a woman racing the clock to get married in order to inherit what her aunt has left her in her will.
I loved Jack! What an amazing best friend. He was loyal and constant and a very big supporter of Nikki. I don't think Nikki truly appreciated him. She just assumed that he would always be around and would do anything for her, regardless of his feelings or needs. Nikki couldn't see past the dollar signs and obviously couldn't see what a great catch she had right in front of her nose. Yes, I understand why she wanted the money and the good she would do with it, but she just seemed all too willing to use and abuse those closest to her to get what she wanted. I had a hard time clicking with her.
Some of the situations Nikki found herself in were quite amusing and had me smiling.
Content: This was labeled as being sweet and PG fun, but there were a lot of innuendos. Again, it comes down to no, there weren't any actual descriptive situations, but things were mentioned in a way that I wouldn't say it was squeaky clean. There was also some mild swearing.
Ginny Baird brings us a holiday romance, Christmas to Valentine's day that is. She brings us lovable characters that you cheer for one minute and the next you want to throttle. Nicki and Jack have been good friends growing up. When great aunt Mallory passes away, Nicki has no idea that she's named in the will. She learns that she will inherit the estate if she meets two conditions. First, she must be married within 8 weeks and then must produce a child within a year. She asks her close friend, Jack, if he will assist her in finding as husband. One problem, Jack has loved Nicki for years, but she doesn't seem to notice. Nicki doesn't want to mess this up and she knows with Jack's help nothing could possibly go wrong. Hilarity ensues. This is a must read book. You will become invested in the story from page one.
You know from the blurb how this book is going to end and I nearly didn't bother to read it but having read and enjoyed a couple of her books before I decided to go ahead. It's a quick easy read with some nice characters but I just couldn't believe that Nikki could actually be so clueless even with the ending being a forgone conclusion it annoyed me getting there and even though I liked Jack I thought he was an idiot. This is a free, quick easy read but it really doesn't contain enough to make it an interesting book and to be honest this story has been done too many times before and to do it again it needed something extra which it doesn't have.
Nikki's Great Aunt Mallory dies and names her as the beneficiary of her will. The thing is there are 2 conditions:
1. She has to be married before Valentines day (8 weeks away) & 2. She has 1 year to have a baby
Her mother desperately needs a surgery that they can't afford so Nikki and her best friend, Jack start calling the exes. Of course there are issues with every guy on the list and the biggest problem of all is Jack. Will she find a husband in time? Or will she lose her inheritance?
This book is great! I loved every minute of it and kept wishing that it was longer.
Lovely! As usual, Ginny Baird did not disappoint me. I loved this sweet and funny story, and I totally LOVED Jack. He's super sweet and handsome; I was rooting for him from the very start. Nikki is a great heroine. I really liked her. In spite of a few typos here and there, the reading flows well and captures the reader. I was glued to the pages and didn't want to put it down. I'm so happy the author decided to write an epilogue. I loved it! A story for lovers of clean romance and romantic comedies.
Most of the Christmas stories in this series weren't this great, so I wasn't really looking forward to this book. I wasn't even going to purchase it, but when it was on sale for $.99, I couldn't pass it up. It actually surprised me! The story was relevant, and actually rather heartwarming. I enjoyed the Valentine's story and would read it again!
Baby Be Mine is the kind of story that reminds me of those Silhouette Bride books where some family member makes sure that the character in question gets their happy ending because their lives just aren't complete without someone to love and someone to love them back. Baby Be Mine is one of those type of stories you can easily see making the lifetime channel along with the other romantic films.
Didn't like Nikki at all but I just love me some Jack. Nikki was what got this book two stars she was just selfish trying to look selfless and cute. Jack was the all ways there for her and the way she acted when he kiss her was ugly. I wanted to slapped the shit out of her. she didn't deserve him at all even at the end. Jack deserves some better then her .
Sweet crazy little story. Love the characters and how everyone seemed to know, but Nikki herself, too cute. Perfect quick little romance read for February or anytime really. Completely enjoyed reading this. :)
This is a very good, clean romance. I love how they connected. I only did 4 stars cause this book wasn't as exciting as the rest in the series but it was still good.
