Book #3 of the bestselling Consequences series:

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aleatha Romig comes the shocking third book of the Consequences series and the long-awaited, action-packed conclusion of Claire and Tony’s tumultuous relationship.

Stick to your convictions.

Against all odds, Claire and Tony have found their way back to one another, but it doesn’t mean a happy ever after. Not even close. Just when they seemed to have it all—love, respect, and the promise of a family—the game master exposes the truth and Claire’s world once again unravels. With old convictions wavering and past transgressions coming to light, the cards have changed and luck is not in the deck for Claire and Tony.

Abandon all assumptions.

Lost in a constant nightmare, who will save Claire from her past? From herself? Everyone has a hand to play, and now they’re playing for keeps. Everything known to be true is questioned. Motives are explained. The past is once again unearthed, and this time, secrets lurk between dreams and reality, between the past and the present.

The clock is ticking.

Time is running out on Claire…on Tony…on their happy ever after. When the final cards are played, will their unconventional love trump the opposition?

In the end, some will discover their bets were too high, and all will learn the most crucial lesson—there are always consequences for the truth.

You must stick to your conviction, but be ready to abandon your assumptions. –Denis Waitley

What a story!!

The very first chapter of Convicted will start you on a rollercoaster ride that will leave you gasping, ohhh-no-ing and wondering what the fuck is going on!! I mean it — my jaw was on the floor! Everything I though I was sure of was turned upside down leaving me wondering how on earth things could ever be fixed and trying to figure out how things could have possibly gotten to that point!

One of the things I love most about this whole series is how completely unpredictable each scene was. I never, not even for a second, had a hold on where the story was going. Each time I gained any sense of balance or thought to myself that maaaaaaaybe I’d finally figured things out, some shocking twist would come right out of left field knocking me back to square one with my jaw on the floor.

Since this is the third book in this trilogy and absolutely must be read after both Consequences and Truth, I’m not going to talk about the plot in at detail here. Suffice it to say that the first chapter is set in the future in 2016 leaving you with all sorts of but how, but where, but why, but who questions. This doesn’t last too long though because by chapter 2 we are back to present day and the journey begins showing us how things got from the events at the end of Truth to that future scene.

My strong recommendation though is to re-read at least Truth before reading Convicted or at least re-familiarize yourselves with all the characters and details because if you don’t know who Catherine, Amber, Derek, Simon, Patrick, Marie, Harry, Emily, Patricia, Brent, Roach, Liz, Meredith, Courtney, Eric, etc are off the top of your head and don’t remember their connections to each other (such as we’d learned to this point), then you may end up a little confused. Personally, I had to stop after about 5% and go back give myself a refresher.

As a whole, Convicted was just as strong as the first two in the series. I didn’t find it to be quite as ‘shocking’ as they were though mainly because in this one, there’s a lot more focus on pulling all the threads of this intricate complex plot together. Or rather it’s like, so far, in the first two books, we had found all the puzzle pieces and in this book the focus was on putting them all together to make one big picture. We get a lot of answers — in fact, we get all the answers and I really have to give the author major props for genuinely tying up all the lose ends.

Emotionally, I do have to say that I definitely did love Tony is this one. His humanity really shone through. It’s complicated because he was both the monster and the knight in this story. I both wanted him to find happiness for the rest of his life and simultaneously wanted to let him rot in a jail cell. Lord know, he deserved it. My poor heart and brain warred back and forth over this but… the heart won. It usually wins.

“I fell in love with you while you were supposed to be my prisoner; however, I’ve loved you since before I knew love existed… I will spend the rest of my life atoning for my sins against you and against others.”

See, he’d changed. Genuinely changed. And I’ll even admit (and I really mean this guys, cross my heart) that there were scenes where I even swooned and aww’ed over him! Never once did I ever predict I’d be capable of feeling anything like that for that man but… he was such a different man than the one we’d met in Consequences. He’d grown so much. It didn’t change the past but he certainly did a wonderful job of proving his ‘new’ self through his repeated actions. He lived it and showed it every day.

It was hard sometimes to believe that they were the same man but I feel it’s important to note though that the New Tony was not replacing the Old Tony… we remembered what he did, Claire remembered what he did, and he certainly remembered. The past was in the open, understood by everyone but that didn’t suppress the desire to build a better future.

However in flashbacks, it was downright chilling to see just the detached, seamless and cooly calculated degree to which he had planned and manipulated everything. He was… cold and utterly devoid of compassion. It made my heart ache for Claire and reading those scenes totally messed with my emotions because they were so polar opposite to the things I was feeling for him in the present day. It was a chilling reminder that this was indeed the same man. It was like – I could deal with him in present day because I saw the man he now was but just every once in a while, his past action would just really hit me and stop my warm, fuzzy feelings cold in their tracks.

More than anything, this book raised the question — what do you do when the hero and the villain are one and the same. Do you root for them? Or crave them to be brought to justice?

The thing that swayed me though was this: it was clear that Tony hated himself for what he did to her. But he couldn’t escape it his actions and carried the weight of his sins with him every day. He couldn’t save her from himself but he could change for her.

“The thought of someone doing to her what he’d done filled him with rage. If it were another person… Tony would want him dead. He’d leave no stone unturned to make him pay for his sins.”

I think Brent said it best actually here:

“He wanted to believe the Tony of 2010 was gone; nevertheless, the fact he once existed lingered.”

From the shocking start to the intense ending, this book was filled with one twist and turn after another as all the interconnecting threads were woven together to create a complex and masterfully crafted plot.

It was just such a multi-layered story really and was told from multiple perspectives in third person in such a way that gave a fleshed out view of everything. Everyone had their own agenda and their own version of the truth and in this book we were able to see them all and begin to formulate our own conclusions.

While the story raised many questions along the way, we also got answers to so many questions such as these for example:
✦where did Claire go?
✦who was with her on the island?
✦who was responsible for what happened to Simon?
✦how long exactly had Tony been involved in Claire’s life?

We got to see several full disclosure chats with Tony giving us confirmations, revelations, new insights and facts we never even knew to begin with. And he wasn’t the only person who had shockers either. Harry also discovered some new twists that I certainly never saw coming. But everything fell into place together in the end. It all made sense and all the missing pieces were found.

As the book neared the end, it kept me on the edge of my seat at the past and future story lines began to come closer and closer together. The final 20% was a fast-paced, non-stop, intense roller coaster. My heart was in my throat. Pounding. I don’t think I blinked. Might not have breathed. At one point, my heart might have stopped all together. The ending though is just amazing!!! I re-read certain sections and lines over and over again just drinking them in.

Claire and Tony were one in a million. They had the most messed up past. People theorized about them and judged their relationship, but at the end of it all, they were the only ones who could make the final call because it was their story. They lived it and it was up to them and them alone to determine their future.

This series truly has carved it’s own niche in the book world. It straddles several genres — but mainly dark romance and psychological thriller. You want different? You want dark? You want a complex, multi-layered story that will keep you guessing right up until the very end? Then, read this series!!

If I had to rate it, I’d give it the same rating as the first two books: 4.5 stars.

My casting:

The third book in the 'Consequences' series, 'Convicted' definitely takes the story of Tony and Claire in a new direction. Like earlier books in this series, I could not tear myself away. Even as I struggled to adjust to the new direction that this story was headed, I was completely enthralled.

This book sees Tony's behavior transforming, as he tries to make amends for his past transgressions. Initially, I had a difficult time with the "new and improved" Tony. After all, he is one of the most controlling and manipulative characters I've ever encountered. For a while, I wondered if he had received a personality transplant. The changes that began in 'Truth', with regards to his attempts to respect Claire's autonomy, finally take in 'Convicted'.

All of the lies and deceptions finally come to light in 'Convicted'. Some things were already known, some were suspected, while others were a complete surprise. Finally, all of the pieces come together and all of the players are revealed.

Tony is held accountable for his actions, at last. The tables are turned on him and he gets a taste of his own medicine. I had mixed feelings about this, but I think it was necessary in the end.

The danger is at an all-time high for Claire and her family. It seems that every time her and Tony start to make progress, something happens to wreck their happily ever after. This is especially true in 'Convicted'. (Don't worry though. It all works out in the end.)

The toll of the stress is especially tough on Claire. She is certainly changed in this book, almost unrecognizable for much of this book. It was very tragic in that regard.

Similar to 'Truth', the supporting characters in 'Convicted' play a major role. Some take on a nurturing, protective role. Others have their duplicitous natures exposed. Each plays a critical role in the story.

I am being intentionally vague because I don't want to ruin the story for anyone. This book brings everything full-circle. I cannot get enough of Tony and Claire. Every time that I thought I knew where this story would lead, Aleatha Romig would surprise me. This series continues to blow my mind away.

5 Phenomenal Stars!!!

The evil you create will ultimately destroy you, you cannot escape the consequences of your actions.

HOW do you review a book like Convicted? I’m not sure, but I’m going to give it a go!

I had high expectations for this book. I feel like I’ve been waiting for an eternity for answers (reality: It’s been a little over 10 months) and I am happy to say, my expectations were exceeded! Convicted starts off with a bang! It’s takes place years after Truth leaves off, jumping from the past to the present. How did we get here? What happened? Where is he? WTF is going on? All things that went through my head the first 5%... fortunately, things got clarified for me along the way. As it is with the entire series, there were many twists and turns along the way. Characters you thought you hated, you end up loving. Characters you think you can trust end up showing their true colors. It’s crazy, unpredictable madness, and I enjoyed reading every single word!

Convicted photo 141a9289-8455-4fc9-9a1e-c3098962bbbf_zpsdb72f5a2.jpg

It is IMPOSSIBLE to give a summary of the book. There is just no way. There would be endless amounts of spoilers, and it probably wouldn’t make any sense anyways! So I’ll just go with my thoughts on this one...

CLAIRE

I liked her character much more in this book than in the first two. I feel like she found her strength. I have been waiting for Claire to get it together for a long time now... It was nice to see.

TONY
Oh Tony Rawlings... I thought I loved you in Truth...Tony was beyond amazing in Convicted! For all you Tony haters, he truly redeems himself in this one! I would be shocked if there was anyone who wasn’t Team Tony by the end of this series! It was clear he was remorseful for all that he had done. Not only that, he was a changed man. All the things I loved about Tony were still there, but the bad were gone.
 photo d49726e6-9d62-4032-9d27-81dbd622f200_zps5903e91e.jpg
Tony hated himself for all of it- hell, he always had the end justifies the means argument, but even he didn’t believe that anymore. Not now. Not now that he knew Claire and loved Claire. The thought of someone doing to her what he’d done filled him with rage. If it were another person whom she described, Tony would want him dead. He’d leave no stone unturned to make him pay for his sins.

Claire and Tony had one of the most completely and utterly fucked up relationships in the history of ever. Through everything, seeing them grow and come together made my heart happy.

“It was you- I fell in love with you while you were supposed to be my prisoner; however, I’ve loved you since before I knew you existed.”

This series is different. It’s unpredictable, twisted, shocking, full of mystery, suspense, and drama. Be prepared to go on a rollercoaster of emotion. I think everyone feels somewhat confused while reading the books, but when it all comes together your like WOAH! The writing is amazing, the books are long, full of detail, and keep you on the edge of your seat. This series will mess with your mind, you may love some of the characters, hate others, some may love this series, others, not so much. I love it. I highly recommend them. They will blow your mind!

Hmmm, I wonder if Aleatha Romig Finished this book and thought to herself...

The evil you create will ultimately destroy you, you cannot escape the consequences of your actions. —Leon Brown

Dare I say that Aleatha Romig is a master story teller! Why yes, I think I can. Upon finishing the book I thought how do I review it without letting anything slip??? I came up blank soooo I will keep this brief and I will not focus on any story lines and trust me there are PLENTY.

Consequences: It all started with a signature at a predestined meeting. Readers learn that Anthony Rawlings is not just a billionaire businessman. Anthony is a man with an Agenda. And nothing can prepare Claire for what he has in store.

Truth: A new game begins with a host of new players. Control is lost then gained as a new puppet master steps up and is ten times colder, twenty times more calculated and very much determined to win.

In Convicted your brain works over time to put together each piece of the puzzle that was given as hidden secrets and agenda’s slowly come full circle. These….Revelations in some instances are wrought with utter devastation and destruction. After all Romig is well known for her jaw dropping plot twist.

Much like Truth, Convicted will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time. When the book opens we are hit with some news…and it leaves you with a multitude of questions. If your heart ached for Claire before you have not read nothing yet. Put all your worries aside because you will get ANSWERS. The journey Claire takes as well as the other characters in Convicted is one HELLUVA a ride.

I’m telling you now that some of what you learn will be I-NEVER-SAW-IT-COMING-MIND-BLOWING-MOMENTS. So when your mouth is hanging open, then flaps without words coming out take it in stride and keep reading because shit gets deeper.

Tony lovers are you out there? *raises hand* I know I'm one! So I will say this, if you fell for Tony in the previous book you will definitely be longing for him after reading this. A man I despised in Consequences caused me to SWOON in Convicted. I HATED HIM. I LOVED HIM. I WANTED TO FIGHT HIM. I WANTED TO FIGHT FOR HIM. *sighs*

I can assure you NO stone is left unturned as Romig methodically concludes the series. The ONLY question I had after reading this book was..When can we see it on the big screen?? Any takers? Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios, 20TH Century Fox, DreamWorks, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) *Grinning*

My Thoughts
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING THIS SERIES!

My ratings
Characters- Cunning
Writing Style- Methodical, Leading and Skillful
Plot/Storyline- Intense and executed very well
Steam Factor- Medium/Moderately Steamy
Overall- I loved it!! A MUST READ!!

Now go forth and read. Then come tell us about it on Goodreads!

There were still lessons to learn and consequences for the truth!
When Claire Nichols met Anthony Rawlings, she didn’t know they had a past, or that he had plans for her future. Over time, the role of teacher changed—games became reality—and domination turned to desire. Despite an insurmountable history, Claire and Tony found their way back to one another.

Just when they seemed to have it all—love, respect, and the promise of a family—the game master exposed the truth. Claire’s world once again spun out of control. Unwilling to allow her child to suffer the consequences of an old vendetta, Claire fled...

At one time, Claire was held captive in an opulent mansion—then her incarceration was a cell inside a state penitentiary. Was her new prison—a tropical island—truly less lonely? Perhaps that was the game master’s plan, all along?

Who will save Claire from her oldest nightmare and her newest reality? Will it be Tony? Can he forgive her for leaving him—again? Harry? Will he utilize previously unknown connections to save the woman who infiltrates his thoughts? Maybe Phil? Will his devotion in keeping Claire and her child safe be rewarded?
As the cards are played—sins of the past, innocent victims, and truths are revealed. With compartmentalization no longer an option, is the reality too much? Could there be an even worse isolation?

With the game master dealing from a stacked deck, can this new high-stakes game possibly be won?

When it’s all over and their cards are on the table—SOME will discover their bets were too high—they have nothing left to lose—ALL will learn the crucial lesson—the most important rule—there are CONSEQUENCES for the TRUTH!

HAS ANYONE SEEN THIS!!??

Release - October 2013

OMFG! I'm so happy I might just have a stroke.

And I'm fucking scared too!!

Teaser :D
With the open doors looking out to the crystal blue sea, their room was only slightly more private than the lanai. However, it was their room. Madeline and Francis respected their privacy. As Claire’s bathing suit fell to the floor, she realized they’d yet to speak. And still, they’d conversed more than some couples did in a lifetime. They’d greeted one another, discussed the pleasantries of the tropical morning, and assessed that each was doing well.

Laying on the soft comforter with her arms above her head, the man she loved gazing down at only her, and the large ceiling fan methodically moving the humid air, Claire’s world was right. Had she planned on her morning taking this turn? No. Was she willing? Without a doubt.

Gahhhh~ WANT NOW.
Aleatha Romig, YOU ARE KILLING ME!!!

Already know this book is going to rock and royally fuck my brains!
You must stick to your CONVICTION,but be ready to abandon your assumptions - Denis Waitley

While reading Consequences I wanted to burn the book to the ground because it sucked and was slow and I didn't connect... BUT THEN
The ending.. Shit.. I was like I slipped on a banana peel and fell in love with the book so hard and fast it wasn't even funny!
And the second book, Truth! fuck me! x_x loved it from the first page till the last page! Ah-mazing series! One of the best ever.. CANNOT wait for Convicted.

I swear I am going to read this book with a blank mind and absolutely NO assumptions what so ever, because whatever I've thought and tried to guess till now has proven me absolutely wrong.
So I am going to wait for 2013/14, going to try to clam my brains and not over think stuff and come up with weird assumptions.

Read this below section only AFTER you've read Consequences and Truth!

What the hell are all those 5 stars?
I had promised myself I wouldn't PAY to read this author again, AND I DIDN'T. A friend had it lying around, I couldn't resist... TO LOSE MY SO PRECIOUS TIME and be again let down by such a bad author.
Mind play? I love it. Mind-blowing? I love it. But this? This is confusing, this is trying to make less of intelligent women. This is criminal.

My Complaints:
- Why so many POVs? They make the story even more confusing than the "many compartmentalizing" that dumb Claire did in the first book.

- I love a past/present/past explanation, BUT that? What the hell is this coming back and forth, back and forth, forth and back, and again and back and forth and a new POV and forth and a new POV and back? Got my meaning?

- HOW, HOW, HOW can those two have a HEA? How? It's impossible, illusional, psychiatric dement and unhealthy.

- And HOW can all those women be Team tony (no capital letter on purpose)?
What is happening those days? Where are the real husbands and boyfriends doing to them/you? Are you been so badly loved that now you do want to be beaten, raped and tortured to feel love? Have you lost all your feminility so you need to pity - because that is it - to let he mistreat you and then love him.

My husband is not a tony - Thank God - in beauty or in wealth, only in age. AND, girls, I wouldn't even think a single second in exchanging my 6foot6, green eyed, a bit bald, a little less fit, but definitively upper class, elegant, intelligent, lovingly husband for a tony, not matter what. I can't even see what this sick, unhealthy mentally disturbed man has that is so sexy.
tony is not sexy at all; he is the real Beast. There is no Prince inside Beast tony. He cannot be saved when his rose dies because there is no possibility of claire loving him; none whatsoever.

And do you know what? I've been married for 21 years. There is not that crazy passion that make sparks fly around with every single touch (they still do, but not as much), but there is so much more than that in a relationship.

A man that treats a woman like tony treated claire could NEVER, EVER be excused, or be loved. He almost killed her. He raped her. He tortured her. Over and over again. There is no possible explanation for a HEA.

tony could be the last man in earth; I could be starving! No. NO. NO! Really, I wouldn't want a tony next to me not even in a book. He is sick, he should be in a psychiatric ward along with claire. Or, rather, he should be facing death penalty.

tony's wealth and handsomeness are what... incredibly magical? awesome?
Seriously, girls? Are you pitying criminal tony? Sick tony? What else... Cruel tony?
This is extremely bad, damaging fiction.

No. Sorry. Not even one star.
BTW, there were so many of claire's headaches I had to grab a tylenol at the end.
xx ------------------xx-------------------xx-------------------xx------------------xx

There was a recent comment on my Amazon review of this book, so to have no more misunderstandings of why I didn't like this book, I'll copy and paste her and my comments so you can judge for yourself:

"Initial post: Oct 23, 2013 6:17:28 PM PDT
Jaclin C. Acanfrio says:
Obviously as a "lawyer specializing in child and women abuse," this would not be your type of book, as is evident in your list of reviews. So how, then, can you fairly review any book in a genre that you do not approve of? Simply put, you cannot. Readers Beware of this review, and go forth enjoying the conclusion of the Consequences series."

(By the way, Jaclin has reviewed only two books, has no information at all on her profile, but she feels she can criticise me. Well... So full of herself, isn't she?)

Oct 24, 2013.
My answer
"I really don't know why I'm losing my time to reply to such a comment, but here it goes.
SPECIALLY BECAUSE OF ONE OF MY SPECIALIZATIONS, this is my type of book. And again, because of it, this is why I'm interested in doing those reviews.

Firstly, this is my review space and it should be respected. I stated each and every point of why I didn't like the book. I didn't offend or cursed or said anything that is not fully approved by Amazon, Law or the DSM (the psychiatric manual where you will find the designation for tony's paraphilia - and claire's too).

Secondly, I can review any type of book I read, buy or come across.

Thirdly, I reviewed it because it has so many 5 start ratings that I thought - poor ingenious of me - that the author had fell on her head and did a good ending, convicting Tony (or those so many mistaken names the narrator felt like calling him.)

Fourthly, I read all the books of this series! Astonishingly, as I have so little time to spare with such a bad litter literature. No, I didn't mean otherwise. Litter.

I know this is fiction and many readers beg, scream, shout for a happy ending. But there are limits and rules that society is blurring to feel more and more emotions. Like drug addicts, people are in desperate need to read more and more violent things, until they think cruelty is an amazing mind-blowing litter... ature.

That is such a pity. And, sorry, this is a grey - pun intended - zone that only leads to disaster (another pun intended) which would never be beautiful.(another pun intended)

Put yourself on claire's place - or not.
BUT put yourself in the shoes of: 68% of Indian women that are being abused; 73% of Swedish women that suffer domestic violence per year... Feel on your own skin and mind the pain, the damage and the unimaginable ache that is to be violated as claire was... Would you love a man like him? That makes me ask: Have you ever loved?

I read "The Girl with the dragon tattoo" and loved it. I read "Into the Darkest Corner" and loved it. I read "Sins and Needles" and didn't like it, but I said why in more than 12 points, because that was not exactly my style. I got fooled by the cover and the name of the book, but that doesn't mean I would crack my whip on it - being hmm... fashionable (?) here - just because I'm a snob lawyer.

There are books that show the world as it is, there are sic-fi, good for a rainy afternoon, serious ones, and many others.
But a book cannot intend - much less pretend - to entertain and turn millions of normal women in perverted creatures, in need of cruelty for the sake of money.

The most important of ALL, words have power and authors, as everyone else, should be responsible. A little fun, a little kink, something to distract is nice and good. A M&Bs once in a while to read and forget...

However playing dangerously with words and mind-blowing what contemporary women (teenage girls) and men (teenage boys) have achieved is perilous and irresponsible; which should been given the proper review. The world is full of real domestic and violent abuse, Stockholm syndromes, rapes (and I could go on).
I read about these themes too and like when there are treated as they should.

See my review for Into the Darkest Corner, which I recommend for those who have minds so thwarted that could be team grey or mad dog travis or tony (they deserve no capital letters).

And yes, I can - and I am fair - on my reviews because I can separate the good writing from the bad story. But seems you cannot... Well, that's your problem.
Really, Jaclin, I think you should choose better the books you read... Or the teams you choose to side.
Have a good day.

5+ Amazing Stars ~ Spoiler Free Review

Let me start off by saying OMG, WOW and AH-MA-ZING. I was so excited to have won Aleatha’s ARC contest and am now very happy to give my honest review of it. I went into this book a little scared but knew it was going to be nothing less than great and that the author wouldn’t let us down.

The book starts off in 2016, Claire is in a psychiatric care facility but Emily is not allowing anyone to see her nor mention HIS name, Tony. But where is Tony. From there we are taken back to where we left off in Truth where Claire has taken off thanks to Catherine and Tony left wondering what is going on. The story then take us back and forth from 2013 to 2016 slowly filling in all the pieces and slowly answering one by one all those unanswered questions.

"There's no good to come from digging up the past"

This book has brought together all the characters from Consequences and Truth, Meredith, Sophia, Phil, Harry and Catherine, but the author has taken them to another whole different level. In this book the author has made me love these characters and/or hate them so much more than before. As the book progresses we begin to find out the rest of Claire and Tony’s story but we see how all the players fit their pieces into the puzzle as the story progresses. This book showed us different sides of the characters we have come to know, we got to see selfless love from one that I know I would have never expected. We got to see what real friendship truly is and what it means to put the well being of a friend ahead of yours own self. But we also got those moments that the truth came out and along with them came those moments of “What the hell, I so did not see that coming?”

Claire in this book was so amazing, she really stepped up her A game and is such a strong character in this book. I loved her sassy-ness and I loved her banter.

“Well How about I work on not being such an ass, and you work on restraining that smart mouth of yours?”
“I was under the impression you liked my mouth”

Tony , Tony Tony, I hated you then I loved you, then I hated you again by the end of Consequences, and you evoked so much emotion from me that I swore I wouldn’t read any more about you. But I went back in and once again went back and forth between loving and hating you in Truth. In Convicted, I not only loved you, I fell madly deeply in love with you. Seeing further into your soul and how you looked back on your time with Claire and how you now felt, OMG you broke my heart, I cried for you, and no matter what you did to Claire, I forgave you, you were the man we needed you to be and you did not disappoint us. I truly can say there really was no point in this book that I didn’t love this man, and after reading this book there truly will be a lot less Tony haters.

This book made me smile, made me laugh, OMG it made me cry, sad tears, happy tears, OMG tears and then when things really came to a head and the cards were beginning to be laid on the table, this book had me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails and giving up sleep and food just to get to the end, I needed to have the answers I needed to know what came of them. This book and the series were truly a breath of fresh air for me, I am a light and fluffy romance girl and this series really took me out of my comfort zone, but took me also to a place that I am so glad I never missed out on. I have never felt so much and so many different emotions just from reading. And there have only been a couple of times I have ever felt so connected and invested in two main characters. These books are so enjoyable to read, they keep you wondering and trying to figure things out, you never know what will happen and I love that they are so unpredictable and different from everything else I read. In the beginning I called described this book as a Psychological thriller with an unexpected romance thrown in, to describe them now, an amazing love story with a little psychological thriller and mystery on the side.

This book truly blew me away and any expectations I had, this book and the series truly rocked my world and took my emotions on an amazing roller coaster ride. It was absolutely perfect, never once did I think I wish that hadn’t happened or wish this happened instead, I wouldn’t change a thing about this book, so kudos to the author and to her beta team, they truly put an amazing piece of work together that I cannot say enough about and seriously can’t put it into words how amazing it was except to say I have a serious major book hangover and I will be heading back in to savor this book during the second read.

You can't change the truth,
but the truth can change you ~ Unknown

It sure was some ride.....

Convicted! What can I say? Not sure really….. This book totally blew my mind. A few times I felt like packing it all in and not finishing it.

The first 2 were good, very good but this one, OMG, the first chapter alone nearly sent ME running to the loony bin!

TONY and CLAIRE, what a journey they have been on. Cannot really say too much for fear of spoiling it. Thank God I had Buddies to help me through my emotional upheaval. Without them, I definitely would not have made it. Thanks to Jxxx especially although not sure if I love or hate her for getting me on board with this series…..

I think do really do the book justice I would need to do a re-read but at the moment my brain could not handle that.

For the last 10% or so of the book I was like this….

I could not put it down but it was KILLING ME!!

THE EVIL YOU CREATE WILL ULTIMATELY DESTROY YOU, YOU CANNOT ESCAPE THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ACTIONS

I regret those times when I’ve chosen the dark side. I’ve wasted enough time not being happy

No matter how much she wanted to love and trust Tony, that black veil of fear would always be nearby

Listen to your intuition. It will tell you everything you need to know

To be trusted is a greater compliment than being loved

DO WHAT YOU FEEL IN YOUR HEART TO BE RIGHT – FOR YOU’LL BE CRITICIZED ANYWAY. YOU’LL BE DAMNED IF YOU DO, AND DAMNED IF YOU DON’T

Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princes who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love.

NOTHING CAN PREVENT YOU FEOM LEARNING THE TRUTH SO MUCH AS THE BELIEF THAT YOU ALREADY KNOW IT

THE FAMILY YOU COME FROM ISN’T AS IMPORTANT AS THE FAMILY YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE

There is no greater misery than to recall a time when you were happy …

We have always held to the hope, the belief, the conviction that there is a better life, a better world, beyond the horizon

I could go on and on and on and on with great quotes and pictures and gifs but I will finish up…. Problem is “what to read next?”

5 *I've waited almost a year but it was worth it* STARS!

I want to begin by saying that I've waited for this damn book since November of last year (YES, that's right! Almost a YEAR to the day!!!) and it was worth the agonizing wait!

It's been over 48 hours since I finished this book and I am still reeling from the experience. Aleatha's ability to fuck with one's mind is uncanny! I don't think I've experienced this kind of emotional rollercoaster since ... ever! I mean, I have read books before that made me feel a wide range of emotions but not to the point of making me want to peek at the epilogue not even a quarter way into the book. I have NEVER done that before but HAD to in this case because I simply couldn't handle to go on not knowing "IS HE or ISN'T HE"?

I won't give anything away so you'll have to read to the end and find out for yourself but this was my favorite book of the three! This story reminded me of the show "Alias" because you truly couldn't trust anyone ... characters you were supposed to love you ended up hating/being disappointed in and vice versa!

One of my favorite things about this trilogy is Aleatha's ability to create very sexy scenes between MCs without graphic descriptions of the act. I mean, I love my books that are full of sex and love when authors make use of words such as "cock", "pussy", etc. However, in this case it made the act sexier and more intimate without [at least for me it did]. Now that's TALENT, my friends!

I will miss Tony and Claire and this crazy journey Aleatha took us on. I can't say much because it will give away the ending for those who have yet to experience this wild ride for themselves but I will say this - I can't wait to read more stuff from Ms. Romig because she sure knows how to keep her readers on the edge of their seats! BRAVO, Aleatha! And THANK YOU!

 photo scarlettblowskiss_zps6c61b86c.gif

I will most definitely be rereading all three books in the very near future because I am sure I missed a lot while zooming through this book specially.

3 UGH-TOO-MUCH STARS!!!!!!

Maybe it’s because I’m surfing the crimson wave….

And I feel like this…

But this is how I felt about this book…

There was just too much going on...

And lots of this…

I am still a fan of Aleatha Romig. I still think she is an amazing writer. I just didn’t care for the direction in which she took this book.

There was just too much going on. And a lot of it wasn’t even relevant or necessary.

I didn’t want to read ABOUT everything. I wanted to live through it myself. So much of this book is flashbacks. Truth was the same way, but I LOVE Truth. I understand character development. I understand that this is a mystery/thriller, so the story has to keep you guessing. But it wasn’t enough to keep me interested so that I could guess anything.

I wish the whole book was as awesome as the last 20% of the book.

Team Tony!!!! I still love him.

5 I'm still getting over this book stars

Theirs was a long, complicated story with a monster and a knight. What made their story unique was that these two players were the same person.

March 2010. No, that wasn’t when I was born. It was when I began to live. Most people think I’m crazy— maybe I am. You see I began to live, the day my life was taken away.

This book was...I thought...And maybe...uhhhhh...To sum it up...
FUUUUUUUCK! My brain hurts! I need a mental health vacation. I need unicorns and rainbows. I need a hug. I need a drink. I need my sanity back. Actually, that's probably long gone now.

Having read all 3 books back to back, I can tell you all one thing. If you plan on doing the same, I suggest having reinforcements.

I imagine, that if I had a conversation with Ms. Romig, it might go something like this.

Me:Any words of advice for the readers about to pick this book up?

Aleatha:

Me: Allrighty then...I'll take that as a no then??

So what was going through your head as you were writing convicted?

Aleatha:

And there you have it. But guess what? That's all that you'll be getting from me too. It's impossible to fully review this book without revealing spoilers, so I'm not even going to try.

What I can tell you? This series is unlike anything you will ever read. It's dark, twisted, convoluted, fucked up, and so brilliantly written that even when you're curled up in a dark corner and rocking yourself back and forth, you'll still want to continue reading.

Aleatha doesn't ease you in with Convicted. Fuck no! She throws you right into the deep end of crazy and doesn't let up up until the end. There are so many twists, the book will keep you at the edge of your seat until the last page. It is not every day you can pick up a book and get a hero that by all accounts you're supposed to hate, yet somehow the author makes you fall in love with him. Stockholm? Maybe! This series has taken over my life for a week. I will never be the same after finishing it.

I cannot think of words that will give this book the justice that it deserves. Is it something that I would read again? Not even if you paid me. I think that if I pick this up again, they will be carting me away to the nearest psych ward. Is it a series that I will ever forget? Not in a million years. I hated it. I loved it. I wanted to throw my kindle at the wall. I wanted to rage, scream, cry, and beg for mercy. But it never let up.

I had to sleep on it before leaving a rating. After much deliberation, I know one thing: Any book that makes you feel and think as much as this did, deserves nothing less than 5 brilliant stars. Yes, it was one crazy ride. But damn, it's not one I will be forgetting anytime soon.

Me right after I finished
Review to come. Once I get some of my sanity back. Which might take a while. Or never? I don't even know. Who are you? Where am I? Who's that? What was I talking about? Tonyyyyyyyyy

la la la la la la la la

Thanks to my lovely support squad and BR ladies. I'm not sure I would have survived this book on my own.

The reading of the three books that described Claire and Tony’s relationship has left me emotionally exhausted.

It took me from 2 weeks to 1 month to finish each one of the books. And I still don’t know how I managed to pull through this experience. I can only blame Romig’s talent and my relentless curiosity.

The third book of the series did not change my opinion about Tony. I cannot stand wife abusers. The only way that I can stand beating and spanking in my books is when they are done in terms of fore-playing and not in order to belittling and manipulating someone.

I simply cannot sympathize with Tony. I still believe that he is a manipulative bastard and I still hope that he rots in Hell when he dies, while hellhounds will be having him for snack often.

On the other hand I truly sympathize with Claire. Obviously you cannot chose who you love – especially if you a hopelessly romantic like her. It is really devastating finding out that your life was never yours, that somebody else has planned all your steps and all the bad and good times you have ever lived since you were a teenager were outlined. Not just by Tony. Almost all the people that she trusted, they betrayed her and lied to her.

Even until the end, Tony is keep giving Claire the choice of leaving him and she never takes it. She wants to be dependant to him. I was wondering when I was reading if she actually ever had the choice. I don’t think Tony would ever leave Claire alone. I was almost sure that this was another manipulation.

The resolve of the story in the end was far too convenient. I was actually laughing out loud with the misunderstood and ill informed, somewhat hero Tony. WTF??? Seriously? He never realized anything about the person who was close to him all these years?

I had to give 4 stars instead of 5 for one main reason:
.

Anyways, there are a few more books with Tony’s POV which I intend to read.
Maybe I will suffer heavily being in Tony’s head.
Maybe I am deep down a masochist.

This was not easy to read and definitely not easy to summarize , the author put a lot of effort in creating this emotinnaly engaging novel i appreciate and respect that , this is the 3rd book in this series and dammn i just cant get enough of it ! It took me long time to finish this book cause i had to take a break many times to cry and yell at anything and everything no biggie , i had so many " i don't know what the fuck is going on " moments , I'm honestly clueless ... the woman we grew to love in book one turned to be a sociopath crazy bitch i mean i knew there was something wrong with her but what i didn't expect THAT level of craziness "She is the devil" ! who hired FUCKING phill roach to send RIP baby nichols-rawlings gift and to make claire feel threatened and paranoid and suspicious, Chaos was all she needed to make her plan works ! i'm not sure how i feel about phill , he is nice , kind and protective but also he knows too much which make him dangerous, you know KNOWLEDGE IS POWER in my opinion Phill loves money ! he was hired by Anothny , Claire. And catherine london ! and they all have one purpose: Destroy each other... can't wait to read book 4 :D !!

I do not even know if there are words that exist that could explain or captivate my feelings towards, not only this book, but this series. Aleatha Romig created and mastered one of the most, if not the most compelling suspenseful romances that was as dark as it was twisted. At each turn a new piece was revealed, and with each reveal a new secret lurked in the shadows.

I am not sure there is much that can be said about the actual story, it’s there within the pages of this amazing book, a story that deserves to be uncovered on its own. Not with my words, or words of others who have read it, but by simply experiencing.

When I discovered this series, it was the doing of one amazing blogger who’s status updates on GoodReads were manic words, shouty capitals and filled with enough expletives that was deserving of a good bar of soap. I am not sure what I expected when I began this journey, I don’t think any of us ever expected something this brilliant. But brilliant is the closest word I can muster to describe what this series is.

We have both loved and hated Tony. We have wanted to hold Claire in our arms and take away every ounce of her pain and slap the hell out of her for her poor decisions. We had hope snatched out of our hands more times than we can count.

What I can say about Convicted is that I could not even begin to predict what was going to happen next. Aleatha structure for how the storyline unfolded kept you in a constant state of limbo. With every passing moment of pure bliss you were brought to your knees with harsh realities. We had learned most of the workings of the vendetta in Truth, but there is more to learn through confessions. Not every player in this game new the rules, not everyone knew the truth, but a few knew the stakes.

It’s no secret that Tony was no saint, but I loved him anyways. But his actions were his absolution. Love, his salvation. And when he hurt, I felt it deep in my bones.

”Tell me” – his dark stare intensified with each second – “why it took an electronic lock to hold you captive and mere words are doing it to me?”

I cried for Claire. Not just for the memories of the past, but for being imprisoned in her mind long after she gained her freedom and the fear of losing her future.

Her efforts to contain the gray were useless, and with time, she no longer tried. It seeped from every compartment, leaked into her thoughts, and filled every void. Her world-her reality-was gray-colorless.

The amount of anxiety I had going into this was off the charts insane. I had this in my hands and for thirty minutes I busied myself to avoid starting this. And although my fears were much different than they were in the first two books, it was just as intense. Convicted lived up to the hype. It matched the intensity in its own way to Consequences & Truth and at no point did the style of this series falter.

Hands down one of the most marvelously written series with one hell of a climatic conclusion.

”A wish, a dream, a miracle – Whatever it is, it’s real.”

Finally the end...

So... Its taken me over a week to finish this series and I've been reading NON stop!
I can honestly say that there is sooooo much info, maybe at times, too much info that is uncalled for.
Don't get me wrong, I liked this series a lot however..... It is TOO MUCH INFO

Pages and pages of useless stuff that couldve been cut out.

I get that the author was trying to confuse the crap out of us and she succeeded!! So well done for that.

In this book, we finally find out the big secrets and shocking info, many of it we were not expecting AT ALL.

Am I happy this is the end? Yes!
Final conculsion: I love Tony! He made me hate him but love him at the same time!

Unfortunately, this only gets a 3 star from me because of the fact that I was utterly bored at times and felt I couldve edited about 200 pages out!

I finished! For some reason, this book took me forever to read. To be honest, I found it somewhat confusing in the beginning and a bit drawn out as a whole. I would recommend a reread of for those readers who are like me and it’s been a while since you have read Truth. For those readers who haven’t started reading, I think you’re the luckiest because reading all three in a row is the best way to tackle this series.

I didn’t find this book to be a fast read at all. Honestly, every time I was in a reading groove the character would switch throwing my flow off. I do think the author did a great job incorporating so many characters into this book but I would have been happy if it was just Claire and Tony. Harry and Sophia, although they were relevant…I just didn’t care about them or their chapters.

Overall, I LOVED all scenes with Tony and Claire. (I'm still swooning over the face mask scene.) Although I didn’t love this book as much as I loved the first two, the author did a fine job of connecting all the dots.

“For the sake of my sanity, I need to know my feelings are and were real. I’ll always and forever, love and be in love with Anthony Rawlings!”

I would recommend this series for any and all readers who like a good mind F**k.

I'm so glad this is over! As much as I liked the first book and I loved the second... This one just... I don't even know where to start. It was just too much or something. I'll admit I'm now Team Tony! WooHoo...big deal. When you're really glad a book is finally over, there's a good chance it wasn't so great.

Omg ! what can i say ? i loved this book ! The chracters , the plot everything managed to stay utterly brilliant until the books very end.
So yes, this book was good.

I loved how Claire & Tony finally came together as allies and worked painfully together to bring down the person behind their family verredata. But then , yes i also found everything moving kinna slow :/ Im not really sure if its because of the repeated breaks in between or my HIGH expectations....that i ended up feeling this book had lost its punch half-way in between :/

Yeah, its sad really :( but then netherless ! a lot of my friends on GR have THROUGHLY enjoyed the book ! ♥ so theres still hope ;)

so , all i recommend is that u sit at try to take down this book in one read,

Overly disturbed reading - Might have consequences ladies !.
Dont let Tony come down here just to teach you that ! ;)

5 TEAM TONY ALWAYS STARS

I’m going to keep this review short and sweet because you shouldn’t be on the fence if you want to read this series.

First off, Consequences is my favorite book in the series, it was gritty, raw and really really FUCKED UP!

Truth was great, I was shocked, I gasp and man, I loved Tony even more.

Now, in Convicted, I feel like I running a 5K and just couldn’t stop until I got to the finish line (but I did take a break, a tiny one though)

Let’s sum it up…

I DO NOT LIKE READING THE ENDING IN THE FIRST CHAPTER! Oh god, such a major pet peeve. Yeah, there weren’t any “flashbacks”, but flash forwards are the same thing. I know it was needed, if there weren’t any flash forwards I think I wouldn’t have been reading like a rabid bunny.

First 50% was crazy, I got the flash forward and I was like WTF is happening?!!!! WHY?!!! So I’m reading like a boss, and reading and reading.

Then around the 50-60% it gets kind of drawn out. It’s very detailed and I get I have to read the extra characters to get the whole feel, I’m sticking it through, but this is when I took a break.

THEN !!!!! the last 30% you are like OH MY GOD! The heavens parted and you have no idea what’s going on, what’s up or down, and how it’s going to end.

The last 10%, the conclusion, you are just so freaking tired, but so happy, and completely consumed.

What do I mean by this? --- > WHEN I FINISHED I WANTED TO FUCKING READ IT ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!

Crazy I never have that kind of feeling, unless I really loved the book. The Consequences series just does that to you. It will suck you in and you know it’s going to be a scary ass ride, but you can’t help but stick it through.

Final note, if you are a Tony hater, you will not be after Convicted. I thought he redeemed himself in Truth, but if you didn’t think he did, oh boy, you will want him to lock you up in a room and fuck you good.

FUN FACT… I took the baby photo, above (and the one with the hands), oh you didn’t know? I do photography on the side for fun. YUP, just another thing I add to the list of things I do.

When I had just finished Truth, I knew I HAD to read the next one right away. I'm so glad I didn't have to wait to read it. What can I say about the beginning of Convicted... I was completely blindsided by the turn of events. I seriously didn't see that happening from the previous book. I was like 'WHAT ON FRIGGIN EARTH HAPPENED???'. I was so confused and a bit sad, and more confused. I wasn't sure what to expect and I think I was probably expecting the worse which is why I was so freaking scared. But what a way to start the book. It made me feel so mental that I wanted to sit in a fetal position, cry and pull my hair out. Nonetheless, I continued the story and soon I no longer wanted to know what happened. I never thought I would be so happy to see Tony and Claire come together and love each other, but I was. Their love was one in a million and it was really beautiful to read. I just wanted that elusive HEA for them that seemed to escape them by some 'event' or 'person'. But I still had HOPE.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"I love you. There are probably millions of reasons why I shouldn't--but I do. I've been without you since my dream, and I don't like it. I've felt every possible emotion while with you."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Claire how she has grown. I don't want to really spoil anything about this book. It is best that you read it without knowing what you are getting into, in my opinion. But Claire has changed quite a bit. Did she make mistakes? Yes, but she learned from them. She also learned to rely on her instincts. She was less impulsive by the end of it. She isn't perfect, and no one is, but she became stronger in this book. She stood up for herself more and those she cares about. I had been waiting to see what would happen with all of Claire's compartmentalizing, well it was only a matter of time before she had to confront them all. I really did like her more in this book. I loved watching the moments of bliss
e had with Tony.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"Without me realizing it, that person consumed my thoughts and though I didn't think it possible--she took my heart. It was you--
I fell in love with you while you were supposed to be my prisoner; however, I've loved you since before I knew love existed."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Tony totally turned around. He started to in Truth and I started liking him for it. But I finally ended up loving him in this one. He has changed SO much. He sees the error of his way and how this family vendetta misled him. The thought of someone doing to Claire what he had done to her, made him angry and sick. He wants to redeem himself and pay for all of his sins. I couldn't have been more happy and selfishly unhappy about it. He learned his lesson big time. I didn't want him to pay for sins any longer, eventhough he probably did deserve to. But Tony was also deceived by a person close to him, or at least whom he thought was close to him. I was so happy to see him let himself love completely, no holding back. He was sweet, romantic, and at times selfless. Yet he was still that strong dominant Tony.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

If their relationship had been a poker tournament, unquestionably, they'd not been dealt the best cards. When faced with the same odds, as Tony and Claire, many players would have folded and walked away. They hadn't--they'd continued to play (...) It was too early to declare the winner. They both knew there were more cards to be revealed.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Every single character had a part in this book. I think that is what kept things interesting. You didn't know who to trust. They may seem a certain way, but that appearance changes once they reveal their true self. Remember appearances are everything. Not all characters were like that though. There were two characters that were introduced that I loved a lot and HOPED wouldn't be traitors. They were so kind to Claire and helped her alot, they were Madeline and Francis. The whole book wasn't completely in a suspenseful angsty vibe. There were some really great scenes involving an island. So there were plenty of happy times as well.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"You my dear, are my drug. I'm so damn addicted...I can't quit you...I know, because I've tried--not for me--but for you...I failed miserably...The more I have you...the more I need...I can never get enough(...) I'll try everyday to give you exactly what you deserve."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

The whole book was freaking emotional for me all the way to the end. At times I was heartbroken, didn't care, angry, overjoyed, shock, love, confusion, crazy, and frustrated. I'm not sure a book has ever messed up my mind and my emotions to this degree before. But because of it, I feel as though I've gotten really close to all these characters. They have all grown so much since that first book. And I think I grew with them as I read their messed up story. I loved when it seemed impossible. I was betrayed right along with Claire by characters that I thought could be trusted. Right when I thought we were all twisted out in the previous book, this book proved me wrong with more crazy twists. The ending was wonderful, I couldn't have been more pleased. Aleatha Romig had me guessing from start to finish. The writing was just as amazingly stunning, can't say that enough. It flowed beautifully. The story captivates you and doesn't let you go. In fact, I couldn't put this book down. I found myself constantly thinking about it even when I wasn't reading it. It's definitely a story that I will never forget. I was actually left wanting more. Not the whole effed-upness but just more Claire and Tony. It was a GREAT ending to a GREAT series.

***Spoiler free, apart from direct quotes***

"I began to live, the day my life was taken away."

"You deserve to know the whole truth."

This series has been absolutely phenomenal and amazing to epic proportions.... I cannot praise it enough or even tell you what happens..... it's a delicate web of Consequences, Truth and Conviction...... If you love powerful stories with intrigue and suspense, amazing characters with depth and purpose, and stories with a massive dose of grit and substance.... then you NEED to read this series, if you haven't already done so!!!!

"It wasn't compartmentalization - she'd accepted her fate. These weren't the cards she'd been dealt; no, they were the ones she'd drawn."

The beginning part of this book completely broke my heart. It took me to a place I really wasn't expecting. I couldn't comprehend where the story was going....??? What would happen to the characters that I had grown to care about immeasurably???

"Anthony Rawlings was incredibly wealthy and not bad looking. No one would believe he'd jeopardize all he'd worked to accomplish....."

The twist and turns are just stunning... Aleatha Romig creates ambiance, emotion, angst... and I felt everything. She gave us Claire an amazing, resourceful heroine and Tony an incredibly layered, gorgeous anti hero knight......

I love book characters to have faith and a sense of truth, in other words, I like them to be as 'real' and believable, in their world as possible; in the way they speak, live, interact and the motivations for their actions...

"...if we don't have complete honesty-we have nothing."

Romig has given us a world filled with 3 dimensional, well developed characters and not just the main hero and heroine..... All the characters have their place of importance.... It seems every line, every word, each thought provoking quote, at the beginning of the chapters, is important and crafted in such a way to move the story effortless on giving us suspense and emotion... so many emotions... so amazingly layered with depth and truth that whilst reading, it feels so very real, the writing is THAT GOOD!!!

The feelings that come from this series are deeply, embedded... My heart beat fast, I cried, I held my breath, sometimes I had a little smile.... At some points, it was so intense, I almost felt I couldn't take it anymore.... Where would this end???

This complex story was told effortlessly with class, beauty and subtlety...

There were moments I had to pause for thought it was so intense.... my inner thoughts were a jumble of a mess.... I loved it....

"Everyone can be manipulated. It's most successful by people who're closest to you."

My heart was in my mouth and beating out of my chest. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up, it gave me goosebumps, there were times at the end of chapters when I felt my heart and my mind would explode... So many cliff hanger moments, that were not addressed straight away... It was gripping..... Pure dynamite.

It is true this book is not a traditional boy meets girl fairy tale fantasy with flowers and kittens and a big old perfect pink ribbon... It's dark and gripping, INTERESTING and suspenseful... the subtlety creates pictures in your head ... it's an intelligent, thought provoking read...... A mind blowingly amazing conclusion to this stunning series !!!!

I would love to see it on the big screen and one day I'm sure I will!!!

"Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning." Albert Einstein

Not enough stars but if I must- 5 Stars (it seems like an injustice to only say 5) *completely spoiler free*

There is absolutely NO way to do a proper review of one of the greatest series ending I have ever had the chance to read. To discuss the characters would be to divulge information that one must experience on this incredible, tumultuous, rollercoaster of a ride. The twists and turns are ever present and the emotions are staggering, gut wrenching, almost debilitating at times. In Convicted- Tony, Claire, Catherine, Phil, Harry, Sophia, Emily, Meredith, Brent, Amber, Eric, Derek, Courtney, John.....are all at the poker table and it's time to play. Who will deal, who will fold, who will hold 'em, and who will walk away.

 photo image_zps0de5cecb.jpg

I will say that I was anxious, nervous, hopeful, saddened, surprised, troubled, overwhelmed, delighted, nauseous, heartbroken, sickened, relieved, and most importantly CONSUMED by this book, this series. I love a book that takes me on a journey of a lifetime and Aleatha Romig did just that. I messaged her after Consequences because I was so upset. She was kind enough to talk me off the ledge and after that, I began Truth and was amazed. What I found so phenomenal was that she was able to turn my feelings around. Did I think that was possible- no freaking way- but she did and it was spectacular. The growth that Tony and Claire go through is quite remarkable and truly magnificent, emotional and One in a Million.

I can't write about the book because it would be a spoiler. What I can say, without a doubt, is that Convicted is one of the best series ending book that I have ever read. It ripped me, gutted me, made me cry, made me sick, and eventually let me breathe. It was One of the Best Journeys I have ever had the pleasure to go on.

Thank you for-
Failure in not an Option.
Don't disappoint me- there will be Consequences
Tony's Eye's, His Baritone Voice and His Devilish Grin
Claire's Compartments
Claire's Strength, Her Smart Mouth, Her Convictions
Their Union of Love.....The Rawlings Baby
and Most of All....
Those fabulous, inspiring, insightful quotes at the beginning of each chapter. One of my all time favorite things about you Aleatha Romig.

4.5 ★'s

My Thoughts:

✦ We finally get to the last book and I have to be honest, the title was scaring me but nothing prepared me for the beginning, it was horrible (and not meaning bad). Then again, what did I expect...really? This series is one big mindf*ck!

✦ But please don't let that stop you from reading it! Aside from some sensitive subject matter, at the heart of the story is a love that comes out of something horrible and the desire to see it grow and last. Can two people make it against all odds? And I do mean ALL odds!

✦ One thing I loved about this book was finally getting all the answers...even if they aren't all in a nice little pile. It's quite the journey getting there.

✦ And AR doesn't give you rainbows and roses, oh no, we have to suffer! I swear there was one point, (when the tide came in), that I just about stopped reading. The whole book I keep wondering what happened to Tony, WHAT HAPPENED TO TONY?? so any scene that could possibly lead to something happening to him was almost too much!

✦ Okay, okay...BUT, that doesn't mean I'm Team Tony! Because...I'm not! :( I am happy with him though and I like how he has grown so much! And Claire has forgiven him so that's all that matters.

description

✦ And Claire...what a crazy plot that was! Thank goodness for Meredith!

✦ My heart went out for Sophia and Derek...and I just felt that was too much.

✦ I really enjoyed Francis and Madeline. I was hoping they would move to the States.

✦ The whole breast milk thing was a bit much...

✦ Didn't see that coming about Amber but I had been disappointed in her since finding out about Harry. Still, it was a shock.

✦ And then just when we're sooo close, she has to zap us with another zinger! Ugh!! But I'm happy with the way things turned out.

description

✦ But really, did we need that little loose thread at the end?? Come...ON!!

✦ I'm really looking forward to the novellas coming from Tony's POV!

✦ BTW, the score is nevertheless 77, nonetheless 27!

Favorite quotes:

❤ “Claire, I’d give up everything in the world to be with you.”

❤ “So, me being an ass and hanging up on you didn’t change your mind?”

“Well, you see—I’m used to you being an ass. It’s the part where you recognize it—that’s new, and that’s the reason my mind hasn’t changed.”

❤ “Because, you are mighty sexy, and I want to see you.”

❤ "I’ve loved you since before I knew love existed.”

❤ “Reconciliation.”

Claire reached for his hand. “I believe that began a while ago—at a gala—in a faraway land.”

“I believe it happened before that,” Tony said. “Perhaps in a dream?”

❤ “I should’ve learned—I’m helpless to your beautiful emerald eyes.”

❤ “Claire, I need you. With you I’m someone I’m proud to be. P—please—don’t leave me.”

❤ “Mrs. Rawlings, have I ever mentioned how much I love that smart mouth?”

❤ "I'm not throwing you away! I'm setting you free."

❤ “You, my dear, are my drug. I’m so damn addicted.”

❤ “I believe that you know that I am—and Mrs. Rawlings, I look forward to your challenges. Apparently, only you can decide whether I make the cut.”

Claire’s eyes fluttered as her body quaked in anticipation. Gripping his shoulders, she whispered, “Don’t disappoint me—there will be consequences.”

This is the 3rd and final book in the Consequences trilogy....I'm sort of combining all 3 into 1.....just a little recap for those who haven't read it...and no I won't spoil anything. Promise!
We meet millionaire 45 yr old Tony and 26 yr old bartender Claire. Tony is controlling, bossy, good-looking and has an agenda with Claire's name on it. He sort of kidnaps her...and I know that sounds really bad, but there is more to this then you think. Never judge a book by it's cover...and never assume anything. Throughout this book series....I was scratching my head, screaming, yelling, and saying WTF....ALOT!!! It was a crazy ride to say the least and worth every minute! So, if you haven't read it yet....I recommend you do! xx
Kudos to Aleatha Romig...you are a brilliant lady

ARC provided by author. This is an honest, spoiler free review.

5 Stars. Having read both Consequences and Truth, I had no idea how author Aleatha Romig would spin her final novel in the Consequences series. I can honestly say, without a doubt, that I was not prepared for the twists and turns in the plot of Convicted. Convicted is a long novel, packed full of information, clues and huge reveals. I read this novel slowly, so much slower than normal, in an effort not to miss any details and to gain full understanding. My emotions were all over the place reading this novel, there were times of joy and times of tears. There were times that I would have to put my Kindle down and step away. What I did not expect was the adrenaline! Be prepared for an intense climax to the plot of this series. It literally wore me out! If I could give Convicted more than 5 stars, I would. This novel was beyond my expectations, and brilliantly written. Congratulations to author Aleatha Romig for a fantastic series!

*****5 ++++ EMOTIONALLY EXHAUSTED STARS*****

Can I do this??

Drum Roll - please..........

HOLY SHIT!!!! What did I just read??  When I read the first few pages of this book

I was like.....

And.....

And WTF happened with Claire?  Why can't she have her HEA??  Why oh why did this happen to her?

OK....so 90% of the book just confused me more and more and on top of that ----- more puzzles were being added into the story.....Just like Aleatha to make us wait till the last 10% to even give us a little hint in WTF was going on.... I felt like I needed to be in a mental hospital just for a break from all the shit my brain was going through.

This, my friends is what you call SUPERB writing...how the game of chess is incorporated into the story line and continues through this trilogy.

“I don't want you with anyone else. You're mine and have been for a very long time.”

Every time I finished one book....I wanted more and more and more of Claire and Tony - I wanted a HEA for these two even though Tony was such an ass and deserved vengeance after "Consequences".

“No matter how much he loved her ... his need to fulfill his promise to Nathaniel would always prevail.”

This book will bring you through a "magical carpet ride" of every emotion possible and I don't even want to get into how many twists and turns go on through this book.

“Those who have trusted where they ought not,
will surely mistrust where they ought not."

-Marie von Ebnuer-Eschenbach”

There are very few authors who can do what Aleatha Romig can do with a story and because of this...I honestly think this trilogy should be made into a movie.  (Even though I don't think the big screen can do this masterpiece justice) Just IMHO.

★ TEASER ★
Convicted, by Aleatha Romig

If you haven't read Aleatha's first two books yet, I'd wholeheartedly recommend them. They are total 'head fucks', but so worth it.
This series is physiological thriller, meets suspense, meets romance, meets erotica, meets mystery. And it's completely gripping!
If you like something a little dark and a whole lot mysterious, that will make you simultaneously fall in love, pull your hair out and make your heart race, this would be a great series for you!

CONSEQUENCES

UK AMAZON: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Consequences-...

"It is your strength and determination that have infuriated me. That strength and resilience has also made me fall in love with you."

TRUTH

UK AMAZON: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Truth-Consequ...

"Tony lifted his glass and proposed a toast, “To you, the only person in this world, who can keep me on my toes.”
Claire held her glass."

But for now, here is a fabulous teaser for the long awaited book #3, Convicted! I am so psyched for this book! I neeeed to know what happens!!!

CONVICTED
"With the open doors looking out to the crystal blue sea, their room was only slightly more private than the lanai.

Without a doubt."
