Initially, I liked Lisa. She reminded me of myself at that age. I didn't like to upset people by saying no or telling them how I really felt, so I would end up doing stuff I didn't want to do or pushing down my feelings and feeling worse for it. I get that. But Lisa ended up just being a big fat old liar. She had ample opportunities to fess up or let the guy down gently but still kept up the charade. And what's with her friend, Candace. She only likes a guy once her friend does. Then asks if it's ok to have sloppy seconds with whoever is left over. I wouldn't want Candace the Untrustworthy Boyfriend Stealer as my best friend.
So, Lisa strings both these guys along at the same time, at the same school for quite a few weeks and they are none the wiser. It's either a massive school or they don't see each other at all during school times. Then the night of the big disastrous reveal happens and it all conveniently works out (because Candace the UBS takes care of the Boyfriend #1) and Boyfriend #2 forgives her pretty much straight away. Disaster averted all in about 5 pages. Nowadays, Boyfriend #1 would hook up with Boyfriend #2 and leave the annoying two-timing chicks to themselves.
This book was terrible to be honest, one of my least favourite in the series, but at the same time it hurts giving it a low rating for 2 reasons. The first being Alex, he was something else and he was the only reason I finished the book, the second being the way they met, it quite possibly had to be one of the greatest first meetings a couple ever had. Too bad it was in such a bad book. My least favourite plot line in the history of plot lines is a girl torn between two guys, I thought she just couldn't say no to the other guy and that's why I read it but she ended up liking the guy too, she just liked Alex more, yea I hate everything about that thanks. Also the way she is described feeling for Alex, if any of us ever actually felt that about a guy in real life then that would be it, there would be no thinking or Lawrence or anyone else so it's just stupid. Even the ending, again I've barely seen such poetic descriptions of feelings as I have for her feelings for Alex and yet she doesn't want to be his girlfriend at the end? it tried to be deep and say she wasn't ready lol then why is she a heroine to a romance novel? wait until she's ready to write the damn book. Alex was great, how they meet was great but the book was terrible.
Synopsis (taken from http://sweetdreamsseries.com): Lisa knows she should break up with Lawrence. He's not right for her and she knows it. But Lisa's got a big problem - she can't say no. To anyone. So when Lawrence asks her to go steady, she accepts (sort of) even though she's just met Alex. He's the boy Lisa really likes and wants to see a lot more of. Now she has two boyfriends but she's miserable. Lisa wants to straighten things out, but she's afraid of hurting Lawrence. So she lives a double life of lies and confusion, trying to keep Lawrence and Alex apart. And it works - until the night when her lies go too far.
