Micah’s on a quest for world domination—and it’s not just the Netherworld that’s in danger. The human world is threatened as well. With a fiercely loyal Werewolf and immensely powerful Warlock by her side, what can go wrong?
A lot apparently.

Saved By The Spell is book two in the Anna Wolfe series by Casey Keen. I have to admit that I enjoyed book two more than I did the first one. I think the story flowed more for me and there was more action. As I said in my review of the first book, I love all the characters in this series, the secondary characters as well as the main characters.
It starts out right where the first book left off with Anna being held in captivity by Micah. He wants to know where the scholars are and the Book of Imperium. Valen, who is a werewolf, Roman the warlock, Kristy, Janie and Martello are forced to enlist the aid of Landon, a shadow walker, to find and rescue Anna.
Several of the characters throughout this book have revelations. Valen and Anna are forced to face their feelings for one another and decide whether they want to accept them or not. But there is still that pesky attraction Anna has with the warlock, Roman. Kristy finally admits she can see ghosts and plays an important part in Anna’s rescue. And could there possibly be love in Kristy’s future?
“Are you really saying I’m…a psychic?” “Your calling will be revealed to you in due time. That is all I can answer regarding your life.”
Anna’s powers are getting stronger by the day and she is getting more confident. But she still has a little problem with following instructions, especially when the people she loves are in danger.
And there is an important secret revealed regarding Valen. This book has a lot more action than the first one did in my opinion and kept me on the edge of my seat. The romance aspect is stronger in this one as well. And yes, there is a cliff hanger. So, I am going to have to wait to see not if but how Anna and her crew defeat the evil Micah and save not only the netherworld but all of humanity.
After reading I’ll Be Damned, the first book in the series of three, I was compelled to move swiftly on to the next book Saved by the Spell, and was taken on a fantastical journey. Anna Wolfe, now a Grand Witch, is learning to use her magic and is maturing.
Casey Keen’s imagination is amazing. She writes beautifully and with passion. Not wanting to give the plot away, I can only say that the love triangle is fit to explode and the fight to oppress the evil Micah gets more complicated. Poor Valen!
I got to the end of this book too quickly and am looking forward to reading To Spell with it, eager to find out how this all ends.
"Sometimes following your destiny, isn't all it's cracked up to be..."
Anna, a prisoner of her own courage, and of Micah, wakes up under an entrapment spell, replaying the events in her mind of that fateful night. Her eagerness, (and/or stupidity), has landed her and everyone she loves into trouble, and now Micah has everything he needs to begin his almighty war.
Now, it is up to Anna to prevent Micah from inflicting his evil on Earth and the Netherworld.
Meanwhile, Anna's sister Janie must focus on how to get Anna back, and put aside her guilt and regrets. Working together with Martello, Kristy, Valen, Roman, and Landon (a shadowwalker), they devise a plan to get Anna back.
Author Casey Keen builds a world of magical bonds, supernatural sex, drama, evil versus good, and romance in the Anna Wolfe Series. The more I read from the Anna Wolfe Series, the more I get into it. At this point, I am completely HOOKED. Saved By The Spell, (book II), did not disappoint! As a matter of fact, I enjoyed it more than I'll Be Damned, (book I)! To say that I am looking forward to Book III would be an understatement.
Again, as with book I, I LOVE the cover. It reminds me of one of those cozy mystery books. It is a book I would be proud to display on my bookshelf. Whoever designed it gets an A+!
Overall, this is a series I would reread again in the future, and I don't do that often! If you were to ask me what I like best about this book, I would choose the witty dialogue. Excellent story! I give Saved By The Spell, by Author Casey Keen 5 stars!
***I received an e-copy of Saved By The Spell in exchange for a fair & honest review.
Saved by the Spell is the second in the Anna Wolfe series. Anna is captured by Micah, the Prince of the Netherworld. Micah plans on learning how to kill the Grand Witch. Anna's powers continue to grow stronger as a Grand Witch.
With the help of her friends, Anna is finally freed from Micah's evil clutches. Although Anna is free from Micah, that doesn't mean the fight is over. In fact the fight has just gotten started. Not only is the fight with Micah but Anna has an internal struggle of her own. Valen is the man she loves and their relationship blooms. Although she has strong feeling for Valen, the connection with Roman is undenible. With each moment she spends alone with Roman, her feelings for him grow stronger.
Roman helps Anna strengthen her powers. Meanwhile Valen helps Anna's friends train in self defense. Micah is getting closer to finding the Scholars and Anna is hot on their trail. One night after staring at a map of the different dimensions, Anna finds the long lost Scholars. Valen, Roman, Landon and Anna set out on a journey to find them before Micah does but their plan doesn't go as well as they had hoped.
Saved by the Spell was an exciting read and I enjoyed every moment of it. I really liked the love triangle that Anna found herself in. I recommend this book to all those who are looking for a story of magic, action and romance. Thank you Casey for allowing me to read such a fantastic book! I can not wait to read the next book in the series!

Thoughts:
Another great book, but next one not out for a bit. I'm a patient girl I can wait.
★★★★Saved by the Spell by Casey Keen (Anna Wolfe Series book 2)
I won this through an author contest.
I am really enjoying this series. It is a fun read with a little bit of everything.
Cara, I still hate you. Serves you right.
Martello, I still love ya. Lord Jesus up above! Polished jewels and mighty large carats. You kill me, I swear. We need to have an adult orange juice someday, lol.
I might be for Team Landon. I really hope you stick around, although I do have my doubts about you.
Miss Casey Enough of these cliff hangers. Just tell me what happens next, lol. Can't wait for book 3, write faster, lol. But no, seriously hurry up.
This is my kind of book. Its mixed the creatures of heaven and hell, hot werewolves, psychics, sexy warlocks, and a smoky shadowalker with a little romance. Anna finds out she is a Grand Witch and goes on to learn and train her powers before her 30th b-day(witch's full powers arrive) while fighting close encounters with the Prince of Darkness. Book 2 (this one!) is were the romance is but more details and more please!!!! I read a mix of contemporary, paranormal, historical, and BDSM novels. Keen did a very good job of describing scenes and creatures-very good, freaked me out.
If you like Lori Handeland's Nightcreature novels, you will LOVE this series. I cried at the end but its not over. I can't wait for the 3rd book. It was a very short read; half of the 1st book but picks right were the 1st left off so you HAVE TO READ the 1st to understand! I wished there was more in this one and I understand why Keen stopped the book at a major turning point but I would have (and other readers) want it to continue some more. Again, short book-read in a few hours.
The writing is much better in this installment. It's the shortest book of the three, but it reads well and there aren't any dragging bits.
Surprisingly, there's a fair amount of steamy parts. There was some sexual tension in the first, but it never went anywhere. Well, it was saved until later. This book feels more like a paranormal romance story. I don't read a lot of romance, never found any that captured my attention, but I can see this author doing well in the romance genre instead.
While the writing was much better than the first novel (something in which I can totally understand and relate to), I feel as though this novel was battling itself whether it wanted to be a romance or fantasy.
Once again, the story was written well enough to compel me to go forward in the series. Book three next!
I was hooked from book one! And now, book two is not only great, it's exceeding my expectations and making me wait for book three is pretty much killing me!! Anna is captured at the end of book one, and starting in this one, you see who has her, where he has her, why he has her, and what he plans on doing with her. Let's just say the creeptastic factor has just sky rocketed. WOAH. AND, everyone back at home is scrambling to try to figure out a way to get her out. This one is also written a little different. Since Anna is captured, you can't know what's going on, so you still get Anna's first person POV, but you also get a third person POV from the others at home. I think this made for an interesting take. Stupid Micah stealing Anna away has made this little interesting change very intriguing.
Anna is learning to fight really hard, for her life, for her survival, and just outright for her. And Martello, Janie and Kristy are all doing their parts at home to try to help find ways to find Anna. Roman and Valen are now almost outright fighting for Anna's attentions. Micah is just creepy. He's definitely scary and I want to run away, quickly, with large steps. And as Anna learns more about herself, her love life, it's quite complicated, and it's only going to get worse, things are spiraling into somethings awesomely crazy!
I just can't talk about the guys right now. I mean, Micah may think he's in the running, if only by force, but I just want him to die.... Valen and Roman, well now that's a whole new set of wine glasses. I like them both, one more than the other, but I won't say anything, as you just need to read this one on your own :)
This one is maybe a little slower in the beginning as you are learning as Anna is about her kidnapping, but once things start up, you will need a seat belt to hold on to your seat. It is way fast paced and if I can just say, HOLY SHIT BATMAN-HOW YOU GUNNA LEAVE ME LIKE THAT AGAIN!!!! There is another, very epic, mouth opening, jaw dropping, pee on yourself cliff hanger. If you aren't a fan of cliff hangers, this one may kill you. I'm so very impressed! A GREAT, PHENOMENAL, WHIRLWIND RIDING 5 PAWS!!
Last summer I chose to review the first book in this series based off of the cover and the small description given and, if you don’t remember, I was not in the least disappointed. I’ll Be Damned by Casey Keen (#1 in the Anna Wolfe Series) was fantastic and fun and sexy, and you can revisit my review of that gem here. Saved By The Spell (#2 in the Anna Wolfe Series) was just the same!
The book picks up right where it left off — Anna has been kidnapped by Micah, a demon from Hell, who wants to use her powers as a Grand Witch to find a book of great import to help him take over both this world and the underworld. However, whereas the first book was told only from Anna’s point of view, this book switches between Anna’s view and then a mix of first person POVs from the group of friends looking for her, including her sister. It’s fun to see new characters come into play and try to guess which ones will hit it off and (hopefully) spin into a new romance.
This is the second book that Casey Keen has self-published and it is the second one that I couldn’t put down. I’ll admit to having to go back to the last few chapters of the first book to re-orient myself to the world and what had been going on, but hey, it’s been six months since I read the last one.
The book is fast paced and makes you want more and more and AGAIN ENDS ON A DAMN CLIFF HANGER! (-ahem-) Without giving anything away, we’ll just say this: Anna grows to know more about her powers, what she’s capable of, who she can and cannot trust, and her love triangle (or if you include Micah, love square) gets more twisted around and you don’t know which pair to wish for… though a menage is not something I’d be adverse to but I don’t think with the way the men feel about each other that that will happen. -sigh-
Definitely check this book out if you haven’t, but don’t read this one unless you’ve read the first. It is not a standalone book, but the series is well worth the money, and, again, it’s self-published so more power to Ms Keen on this one!
This book was received from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Wow. When I first started Saved by the Spell, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ll Be Damned was good but didn’t wow me, but I did like the ending. Saved by the Spell started off a little slowly, what with Anna being held captive and all, but it quickly picked up and was a lot better than its predecessor.
The writing style was a little bit different from I’ll Be Damned. Because Anna was separated from the rest of her crew, the chapters alternated between Anna’s first-person perspective, and a third-person detailing what the others were up to. I got a little confused the first time it happened, but it only took me a couple of paragraphs to catch on to what was going on. I actually really appreciated this. Had we stayed only in Anna’s perspective, we would have lost out on a lot of information!
The characters stayed true to themselves, but I was no longer as impressed with Martello. His diva tendencies started to wear on me! But Janie and Kristy stepped up as a lot stronger than before, and a new character was introduced that I really liked!
There was definitely a lot more action in Saved by the Spell, and I found myself on the edge of my seat several times! It was shorter than I’ll Be Damned, but it still moved a lot faster. The romance was also kicked up a notch, and there were definitely more sex. It wasn’t graphic like erotica, but you definitely knew what was going on. Just a little heads up.
I loved seeing Anna grow more into herself, and I thought that the last 20% was amazing. Unfortunately, I don’t know when the third book is coming out, other than in 2014, and I am dying for it now! I had a feeling one thing that happened at the end would happen, but I never could have guessed how or why, and I need to know what happens next! I would definitely recommend this one!
(I'll Be Damned and Saved by the Spell review) What do you get when you mix witches, weres, warlocks, the Prince of Darkness, and other evil minions? You get a damn good read. This review won’t contain any spoilers – at least no more than is in the blurb or excerpt. Anna, the heroine, is a Grand Witch in progress. She has a hell of a lot to learn in a very short time period. Luckily she has some very talented and handsome males to prepare her for some intense battles. Anna has to save her kidnapped sister and foil the evil plans of the Prince of Darkness.
Anna makes a few stumbles along the way as she is very independent, she likes to follow her heart and not her head (Reminds me of Rachel Morgan in the Hallows series by Kim Harrison; which I adore!). She’s also the owner of a coffee shop called DejaBrew; I love that name!
In I’ll Be Damned you get to meet quite a few interesting characters: Valen, a werewolf; Roman, the warlock; Anna’s best friends, Kristy and Martello; her whole family; and the Prince of Darkness himself, Micah. There are also many netherworld creatures that are introduced. The author, Casey Keen, weaves a very intricate web with this story. The complexity of creatures and magic are an intense and refreshing read.
I loved how you really get to know Anna. In fact, most of the characters are very well developed and scenes are vividly painted.
In Saved by the Spell things get intense really quick and a lot happens fast. You also get to know some interesting facts about Anna’s besties, Martello and Kristy. How far will Anna get in saving her family and the world from the evil plans of the Prince of Darkness? You’ll have to read for yourself to find out. I can’t wait for the next book in the Anna Wolfe series!
*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*
Escape. That is all Anna is focused on now that she’s being held by Micah in the fiery underworld. She needs to get free and return to Valen and her friends. Though it is the intense thoughts of Valen, and him alone, that brings forth her true power. What she considers failure is actually a great feat and only she, as a Grand Witch, is capable of them.
With her friends rallying behind her and two sexy-as-hell bodyguards doing all they can to keep Anna safe they should have it easy, but Micah is a sly devil and he has a backup plan for everything. Too bad his Plan B shatters Anna, leaving her in a state of despair unlike any before, and seeking comfort were she probably least expected to.
The love triangle continues between her sexy werewolf Valen, and the gorgeously determined Roman. Both are bound to her in different ways. Both draw her to them. But does she have the strength to fight for the one she truly wants? I’m sure we’ll find out more in book #3…coming later in 2014. Personally, I love them both and think they should just share her!
My Favorite Awkward Moment: Sometimes one shouldn’t open their door. Hello pissing contest!
**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review** Saved by the Spell is the second book in the Anna Wolfe Series, and is an excellent second installment in the series. It picks up exactly where we left off and is full of action with a pinch of spice. I love all of the characters in this series, even the villain! I will admit that I am torn between Roman & Valen, i'm hoping that she'll be with both, lol! Who could possibly decide between a sexy wolf or hot warlock?! While trying to save the world from becoming a playground for the Dark Prince & the Underworld, Anna is also trying to perfect her magical skills, and find the scholars who can help prevent Micah from taking over the world. If you are looking for a fun action packed paranormal read, The Anna Wolf Series, I'll be Damned & Saved by the Spell is definitely the way to go. I absolutely loved both of them, and highly recommend them!
This is the next book in the Anne Wolfe series. When we last saw Ms. Wolfe, she was in the process of passing out after tangling with Lucifer's son, Micah. We pick up the story at that moment and continue on her journey finding out who she is, what she can do, and who wants her dead. Again as wilt the first book, I'll Be Damned, I found this to me a slow read due I think, to the massive amounts of information given to us that reads more like a fact sheet. There also is a character that I found to be an uncomfortable portrayal of a "Cajun, black, gay queen who's speech is chocked full of I's and we's best git to movin'." No other character speaks like this in either book. Just a very uncomfortable stereo-typing.
By far better than Ill Be Damned. I really connected more with Anna in this book. At times I felt I was right there in the book fighting by her side. The time I started reading this book, the pages kept turning and turning till the end! I never put it down, I was wanting to find out what happened next, and next.. especially to see if she gets out and home safely, than to see who she is more drawn to Roman or Valen. ( loved that part, don't want to spoil for others). The ending of the book was Great! Can't wait to see what the next one brings! I am hooked on the Anna Wolfe Series!
I was given this book by the author for an honest review. Book #2 in the Anna Wolfe series picks right up where the first one left off. Anna finds herself in the Netherworld as Micah's prisoner and she can't use her magic. Her friends and family will try anything to get her back, now it's up to her best friend to get over her fear of ghosts to help find Anna. Well writen, another great story with a huge cliff hanger! I can't wait for the 3rd book, I feel like the characters are my friends and I need to know what happens next.
***This book was given to me by the author and paranormal romance and authors that rock for a honest review***
Great book... Has equal amounts of suspense, sillyness, and Drama. Has the views of more than one of the characters which confuses me because it is called the Anna Wolfe Series. I thought it would only be in her point of view since the series is named after the main character. Great read though.
I received this book from the author for an honest review. I enjoyed this book, it was even better than book 1, I'll Be Damned. The characters are well developed and written. We have creatures of heaven and hell, witches, warlocks, werewolves, psychics, shadow-walker and romance mixed in to make this story. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series and find out what happens next.
Oh I loved this book so much:) The characters are amazing. They were playing a tug a war game with Anna, but she was not having it she made her decision but she can not have both even if she want's to have both of the boys to herself. She would get jealous but she didn't know what to do about it. I can't wait to see were this series will go.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
O-O...Damn! I was so bored to tears and infuriated with how Anna and Janie ogle the guys even though Anna promised not to do so and Janie.. She's married or about to be, right? WTH? Everything was sooooo NOT convincing. I just can't follow the rationalization of the characters and what's all with the whining? Ugh.
