My strong desire to tell stories hit me early in life. At the young age of nine, I penned a play about Nessie from the monster’s point of view. Since then, I’ve written constantly, whether it was in a journal, diary, in my notebooks at school, or on my computer. But I also came by story-telling naturally. My great-grandmothers and grand-parents, all had traveled extensively through the US and the world and told us all of their parents and grandparents immigrating to America and ending up in Texas. Now factor in the numerous aunts and uncles, who were always amazing sources of information and incredible stories about everything from where exactly the tooth fairy puts all those teeth to Santa’s elf who hides in the air conditioning vents and watches us all year, to the mythological creatures that hang out under our beds, and I had a very well rounded education in how to spin a yarn. In my adult years, I learned to be a waitress, bartender, bill collector, bank teller, Blockbuster Video clerk, and dishwasher all before I earned my degree in nursing. Then I spent the next ten years in the adult ICU’s and adult and pediatric trauma units. As if I didn’t have anything else to do, I went to massage therapy school to learn to better care for my ICU patients, many of whom suffered bed sores and back pain due to their extensive times in bed. (Yes, I’m coming up with a hero who’s a massage therapist.) After that certification, I still didn’t think I had enough knowledge and in an attempt to educate myself right out of the general dating pool, I returned to school to earn my journalism degree. It was while I worked as a Level 1 pediatric trauma nurse, I met my husband while I worked at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. Now I hope to share my fiction and non-fiction story telling techniques with our children and with anyone who wants to read or hear it.
evil man seeks vengeance...tries to kill small child, innocent woman. terrorist plot involved. love blossoms between a lost and humiliated woman and a widower with 4 children. hea ending.
Was an okay read, good storyline and decent characters but for some reason it just didn’t move me. Read it but can’t say I really enjoyed it, not a keeper, just an okay read.
I enjoyed this book and the characters. There were several writing mistakes and I am not one that normally spots them. It was a enjoyable plot with romance, steam and action. I don't think that I will get any more books by this author.
There’s nothing more satisfying than reading an author for the very first time and finding that they are not only abundantly talented, but will also be elevated to your must read list.
I started this book at the request of a friend and was totally captivated by the plot outline, the background story and the characters portrayed.
The story spans 15 years, yet doesn’t drag on or dwell for huge amounts of time on past events, but provides valuable information to support the angst felt by Jocelyn on her forced return to the town she fled as a teen.
What follows is a myriad of events that deliver a fast-paced, action packed, family orientated, mystery/romance that will have readers clambering for the next book in the series.
Deep in My Heart is a compelling and enthralling read that I can’t recommend highly enough.
Contemporary second chances romance set in small town Texas with a Vet dr Jocelyn Promise and her high school crush Caleb Davis. So we open with the geek girl finds love with a sexy ex-military vet widower with four kids. I adore well raised children, but these kids were a bit childish and I didn't like the conversations with the little girl, Riley. But this has a mystery aspect with death threats and Jocelyn gets stuck in the cross hairs which will give the poor lady nightmares for many years to come. I really got into the writing style of this author, she does dialogue like real people communicate although it was a little too sweet HEA for my bitter taste but I couldn't help but enjoy this story. 200ish pages and a kindle freebie 3 stars
Dr. Jocelyn Promise was a vet and she returned to Tuscany, Texas to fullfill her duty for a loan on her college courses. She was going to fill in for her uncle for six months. Caleb Davis was a well known rancher in Tuscany. Jocelyn always had a crush on Caleb but she was from the wrong side of the tracks and they embarassed her and she left town after her father was arrested. I loved this story. Caleb reconnects with Jocelyn and he likes the woman she has become dispite her family background. Someone is out to get Caleb from his past and Jocelyn gets in the way. This book really held my interest. There were a few sex scenes
This story starts out with a bang. The romance moves a bit quick for my liking but Jocelyn and Caleb are so cute I didn't care too much. This story had the perfect mixture of romance, action, drama and more romance. The story also seems to set up quite a few other potential books. I will definitely be checking out more of Ms. Fisher's work.
If you like hot Texas cowboys and strong independent women, I definitely recommend this book!
This is a very good love story with a great plot but unfortunately has bad language in it. For that reason, I could not give it 5 stars and cannot buy the sequels. I can deal with some words but not the f.... word. That's just so uncalled for and ruined the whole book.
Great story. Characters with depth. Made my heart flutter at times. I was thrilled when the heroine stood up for herself. Teaches us that we all change over the years and need to let go of past hurts and move on with our lives.
Really good and I got it as a freebie! So I was well pleased, good storyline, loads of drama, Engrossing back story but not too angsty though, few bits of steam and some wonderful aah moments, great intro to the secondary characters nicely set up for their stories. Great start to the series.
