Already knowing a lot about fitness, I was looking for a book that was more meat and less philosophy. Something I can reference on the go. This was exactly that. One introductory chapter and then exercise after after exercise with photo and description. Many were moves I have not done. Overall, pretty rad buffet of moves to quickly go through and pick out your moves of the day or a few to add to your existing workout.

I liked that this book started by asking you to examine your goals. It's really hard to do a fitness program, lose weight, or get in shape without focus. The book clearly explains what bodyweight exercise is and why it's beneficial. Other important things like interval training, ladders, time trials and power yoga are also explained in an easy-to-understand fashion. Useful information on how to make an effective exercise plan is included. Onto the exercises themselves...

The exercises have good pictures of key points and are descriptively described. I have multiple health problems that cause me to not be able to actually do many of these. I had hoped for exercise modifications for people with issues or as stepping stones to help train you to be able to complete the exercise. There's a little bit of that in the power yoga section, but not in the bodyweight section. I also wished they'd had difficulty levels so you could pick accordingly. My SO, who doesn't have physical issues, had difficulty with many of these and also wanted difficulty levels as well as easier exercises you could do to work up to doing these.

Now I remember having more mobility. And I was able to do some of these and can imagine me being able to do them now. Some experts say that intensely visualizing exercise also has benefits for the body without even doing the exercise. So for the meantime, that's how I'm using this book. My SO has no interest in continuing because "it's too hard.". He's somewhat active for work and prefers riding his bike. For me, this book is valuable for the exercises to visualize and I've now carved out time in my day to do that. I've also set time aside to work on (and do) possible modifications I can for these exercises and I will see my physical therapist to help modify ones I get stuck on. I did receive this at a free or discounted rate in exchange for my honest review

Exercise

Some of these exercises are really easy and great for toning and weight loss however when you have a plus size body and multiple sclerosis keeping you from being too active it's really hard to do overall Its a 4 some of these are impossible even for fit people

Helpful Exercises

This book had some helpful body weight exercises that I haven't thought of. I recommend this book for a beginner.
