"The Holy Spirit in you and His anointing upon you takes you from the level of the natural to the level of the supernatural." (David Oyedepo, Anointing for Breakthrough)
The Anointing is the power of the Holy Spirit. It is said of Jesus in the Bible: "You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him" (Acts 10:38, emphasis mine). JESUS WAS ANOINTED (EMPOWERED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT; EMPOWERED TO PROSPER) AND SO ARE YOU! According to this one Scripture alone, the Anointing causes you to be empowered to go about doing good and healing all those who are oppressed of the devil. Jesus said to His disciples that they would be anointed with power to be His witnesses' (See Acts 1:8). The Anointing enables you to do the works of Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. That is what this book is about, it is about the person of the Holy Spirit, and His anointing that enables us to work the works of God in our lives and in the lives of others...to destroy the works of the devil, bondages, yokes...
My favourite chapter in this book was chapter 8, entitled Anointing for Wealth. He says, "Power is the essence of the Holy Ghost upon a believer, not tongues, even though tongues is the essential evidence of Holy Ghost baptism.
Therefore, Deuteronomy 8:18 can be safely reframed thus: 'But thou shall remember that it is God that giveth thee the Holy Spirit (power) to get wealth', or in another words, 'It is God that giveth thee the anointing to get wealth.'" As a believer, you are anointed to prosper; God has given you the anointing to prosper...to obtain wealth. Time to tap into it, so the gospel can be funded, and the earth to be filled with the knowledge of God, as the waters cover the sea ( See Habakkuk 2:14 ). He goes on in this chapter about how the fall of man has caused us to be selfish because of the sin nature. God desires for us to serve Him with joy and gladness. This means being a cheerful giver and thinking about others, and not only ourselves.
He relates the story of the Rich Young Ruler who had great possessions, yet Jesus instructed him to give all he had to the poor and to come follow Him. The Bible says, He went away sorrowful. ( See Mark 10:17-27 ) He says, "Man's selfishness is of such magnitude that he will prefer to miss heaven than to losing his possessions. That is how selfish and self-centered the unregenerate soul is." Giving referenced in this chapter is not just about giving of money, but putting God and the gospel first.
This book covers different aspects of The Anointing. It first introduces the person of the Holy Spirit, then gets into His significance and ministry, then understanding what the Anointing can do for and through you: causing you to win every battle, conquer every conquest, obtain wealth beyond what you can think or imagine, enthronement, restoration and transference of the Anointing...
