Stay off the Slash 8 range — or stay on it — permanent!’
When Jim Green signed on as foreman of the Slash 8, the smell of range war was already in the air. Then the Slash 8’s owner was bushwacked, and with its back to the wall, Green’s fighting crew made its declaration; Stay off the Slash 8 range — or stay on it — permanent!
Green knew that when a showdown came it would come with blazing guns. He was ready for that. What his embattled riders didn’t know was that down in Texas he was known by another name — Sudden.
Good solid western. Green/Sudden arrives at a ranch and has a gun pointed at him by George Tate. It transpires that the valley is in the middle of a range war. Sudden stays on to help the Slash 8 ranch. I. This edition contains a few editing errors. The story had plenty of action and moved along nicely. Average western read.
Let's take the introduction to a certain TV show...
a shadowy flight into the dangerous world of man who does not exist.
a young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the helpless, the powerless in a world of criminals who operate above the law."
One man can make a difference
and that pretty much sums up this book. "Sudden" is wanted for a crime he didn't commit, and takes an alias as he helps others out on his travels to find the real villains.
This is book 1 in a series, although the character seems well established enough for people to know his name and reputation. There were some problems where it's been turned into Kindle format and letters have been scanned incorrectly, and the layout is a bit hit and miss, but it doesn't detract from a good old fashioned Western adventure.
