The global infrastructure that allows humans and supernaturals to coexist is under threat. A breakdown of this carefully maintained system erupts into worldwide chaos and could eventually lead to Armageddon.
Code Uprising is activated.
The power of the supernatural world shifts from the city councils to Bonfire Academy and the other elite paranormal preps. Now, the staff and students must follow the code, however deadly the ramifications, to return power to the city sovereigns in order to prevent an apocalypse.

It was ok but the back and forth with the planning of the war was too much. I had to skimmed through alot of it I didn't enjoy it. I just want to finish the series now

Warning, I have not read any previous books of this series or connected series, so I may give away things I would not normally do, because I do not know what happened in those other books. So I may have spoilers and not know it.
My Review:
I was a bit lost at first in this book, and that is completely my own fault, as I had not read any other books in this series, or the connected series, I guess all the different series are connected. That being said, I did catch on enough to enjoy it for sure. I liked the switching of the point of views from Flaustine, and Cordelia. I found I liked Flaustine more at first, and finally warmed up to Cordelia after a bit. I guess I got used to being in Flaustine’s head, but I did find Flaustine a bit annoying at times, especially when she was so wimpy about the spiders and she is a demon, come on! That was just annoying, lol. Besides the immature nature of Flaustine, I did like her for the most part.
I really want to go back and read previous books too, want to dig into that past of Cordelia and Jagger who sounds hot and so sweet. So I will be looking into them eventually.
I enjoyed the excitement of the action of this story and how it kept me on the edge of my seat pretty much for the whole book. Even though I was clueless to who was who, and what everyone was in the supernatural world I still loved this story.
I guess the hardest part for me was keeping so many characters straight in my head, which normally would not be a problem as I assume most these characters were introduced slowly through all those other books. But I did it, thanks to my great memory, lol.
I highly recommend this book and the rest that are connected, since I bet they are just as good as this one. It’s a great unique world the author has created, and I loved it.
If you like the paranormal and the different supernatural species then you will love this. Seems a few I never heard of in this, maybe just creations by the author, like Wanderers, not sure what they are, but they can teleport, but they call it wander here or there, etc.
5 out of 5 stars for me. Highly recommended
I was given a copy of this book from the author for my honest review.
I read a lot of independently published books. There are a handful of authors that are on my "don't miss" list. Imogen Rose sits at the top of that list for a reason. This lady can tell a story! I keep waiting for a book that I hate from her to come down, but every single time she sends me a copy of her book, I love it. This one was no different.
This book brilliantly picks up right where we left off and we're off to the races, only this time the entire infrastructure of the world is under attack and code Uprising is activated. The author wastes no time jumping into the story and yanking us in the world of Cordelia, Faustine and the crew. She has woven this world through all of her books that connect the worlds and characters, but each series (and, to some extent, book) can stand on it's own feet.
What I really loved about this book was the power of the students/kids. The kids are coming into their own and they owned this book. There was less of the adults telling them what to do and more of the students owning their power and solving the world's problems. I found myself cheering them on as they went about their journey and smiling at every victory.
The characters are, largely, supernatural, but I'm a believer that they exist because the more I read the more vivid and complex the characters become and the more real their world becomes. I so totally want to hang out with Arizona from Portal and I want to go shopping with the Bonfire girls. I really like that the author write strong female teenage lead characters. With all of the princess stories out there, it's good to see strong kick-butt girls out there. It makes for books that I'm proud to share with my daughter. Yes, it's make believe, but I want her to know that she can stand on her own two feet and she doesn't need Prince Charming, nor his glass slipper. Maybe that's a lot to take away from a silly YA book, but I really do believe we need more of this in YA literature - we're getting there and Imogen is doing an amazing job leading that charge in the independent publishing world.
Now, about my kids... they also love these books. I'm lucky enough that the author always sends me a review copy (no matter, I buy them anyway) because my kids ask me about once per month if she has a new book out. It makes for great conversation, books that we both read, enjoy and can talk about. It opens the door for them to take my suggestions about which books we should read and vice versa.
The writing and editing are flawless. The storyline flows at a great pace and we can't wait to see what Imogen does next.
This is a great addition to the bonfire chronicles and bonfire academy series. (I group the two series together because they take place in the same time frame and with the same characters mostly, so I just see them both as one larger series. I would read the bonfire academy series before the bonfire chronicles series FYI. Update: the author has actually recommended mixing up the series and reading the books in this order Faustine, Initiation, Integration, Uprising, Retaliation.) It has been a while since I journeyed into the world of Cordelia and Faustine so it took me awhile to get my bearing. There are a lot of characters in this story and a lot of paranormals and they don't give the backstory on everything, so be sure to read Faustine at least before starting Uprising. But once I remembered who everyone was, I got swept up into the action of the story.
Uprising is much faster paced than Faustine, because they are in a state of emergency. Code uprising is activated pretty much at the beginning of the story, and from then on in it was non stop running around and action. I thought it was really exciting. The book splits up in sections, and each section has chapters. I liked the Cordelia sections more than the faustine sections, but that is because I like the romance in the cordelia parts more. I like Faustine a lot and she has really come a long way in this book, but I just love Cordelia. It still cracks me up that Faustine is this bigggg bad part demon and she is so scared of tiny little spiders. I loved that it was mentioned in this book too because I thought that was so funny in the last book with her little nightmare room trips.
There is a lot of stuff going on in Uprising. I really enjoyed the story and the writing and characterizations are excellent. There are so many different people with different powers and different kinds of creatures, but you really do learn a lot about all of them. And it was great watching the students at bonfire academy start to grow up and expand their powers. They all took charge in this book. Imogen Rose has proven over and over again how talented she is at telling a story. I love her world building and her characters. This lady can write a great book! I really enjoy her bonfire series. I can't wait to see what will happen next.
Imogen Rose has three distinct series (The Portal Chronicles, The Bonfire Chronicles, and The Bonfire Academy, which is kind of a sub-series of The Bonfire Chronicles). While each had a distinct focus, there was always a bit of overlap in the worlds and the characters. In interviews with Rose it always sounds like the characters inhabiting her mind never stop talking and don’t follow the basic rules like only interacting with others from their series. When the Portal series came to an end I theorized, based on how it wrapped up, that the characters would continue in Rose’s other books. If Uprising is any indication, I think I’m right, as major characters and locations from the Portal Chronicle played minor, but critical roles in this story.
The Bonfire Academy series also appeared to be winding down, at least with the initial crop of characters. Uprising brings characters together from all three series and takes their common stories in directions I wouldn’t have predicted although there were hints in Rose’s last couple books.
What I liked most about Uprising (besides giving me hope that I’ll be seeing more of the characters from the Portal Chronicles) is two-fold.
First is a major expansion of Rose’s fictional world, introducing us to new locations and minor characters in those locations who could develop into significant characters in future installments. The meaning of activating Code Uprising builds on the protocol and structure of the supernatural world Rose has introduced in previous books.
The second thing I liked was the introduction of some light science fiction elements into this series (specifically some high-tech weapons and a futuristic transportation method). Thus far the series had been strictly supernatural or paranormal while the Portal Series combined these with some science fiction technology. Mixing the two is something you don’t see often and one of the unique aspects of that series, and now this one too.
As with Rose’s previous books, I’m left with enough of a hint of where the ongoing story might be headed to pique my interest, but not so much that I don’t expect to be surprised again. So I’m left, happy with this installment and eager for the next.

The best one so far. That book begins right after the end of Integration (Bonfire Academy #2) combined with the end of Faustine (Bonfire Chronicles #1).
Chaos within the paranormals is permanent. Katerina, Faustine's sister is still treatening Sovereigns' offsprings. When the London council discovers that they have been confined and that the treatening is even more stronger they have no choice but to activate Code Uprising.
Faustine will have to deliver the message to Bonfire Academy and the code is then activated. The staff and students will then have to go through each steps of the code to try to return peace within the paranormal world. Faustine, will then work with her old friends from the academy, Cordelia, Jagger, Olivia, Rea, Colton etc..
That will not be an easy battle and they will have to be careful not to forget the primary rule from the academy... Trust no one.
My Opinion: Wow this is my favorite book from the serie so far. There is still one book to come, Retaliation and I can't wait to see how this will all end. This book is full of suspense and there is no dull moment at all. There is always something happening. This is definitely a page turner book.
If you missed Jagger and Cordelia in the "Faustine" book, you will be happy to know that they are everywhere in that story. I personnaly missed them in the previous book and I was really happy to discover what happened.
As I am a huge fan of the Portal Series from Imogen, I was also more than happy to find some of the characters of the series.
Wonderful story! Imogen Rose paints a magnificent and action packed journey of imagination with a menagerie of supernatural creatures!
Code Uprising is now in affect!
All supernatural's are now in lock down for their own safety, for they are under attack. Faustine Spencer has just been crowned, she is now leader of the daemon affairs in her fathers stead. With him missing and the attacks escalating no one is safe.
Cordelia has been to the brink of death and back, she knows what is at stake and knows that they must all keep each other safe, however deadly the ramifications, if they are to all come out the other side of this alive.
Together the students and staff at the academies must fight together not only to save the humans and their own races but in order to prevent the apocalypse. School is defiantly not going to be out for awhile!
Amazing story! great Characters! I really liked Jagger and Ryker both adorable!
don't miss out on this incredible series! TBR today!
A masterpiece containing every supernatural being I love! Another jaw dropping story from one of my favorite authors! I simply can't get enough!! A masterpiece containing every supernatural being I love. Imogen didn't miss a beat! Thankfully Uprising picks up right where Integration left off kicking it up a few more notches with more ...ummm... EVERYTHING! Honestly I was freaking out not knowing what was to come after the last book's cliffhanger. I always look forward to reading more about these characters regardless, & I just love Professor Bern with all of her spunk. I absolutely adore the demon princesses, Faustine & Cordelia, & there's a certain fairy I'm quite addicted to as well. Basically...If you're already a Bonfire Chronicles/Bonfire Academy fan then you're sure to enjoy this book even more than all of the others. If you're new to this fascinating series then prepare to be WOWed!!!
I enjoyed reading this book. I like how the old crew got back together with some of Faustine's new crew. I could see that a couple of people were betraying the school and councils. I love the trolls, and how mischievous they can be and also become some of the most effective beings, in battle and rescue missions. I like how Faustine, and her team could release the councils and her parents imprisonment. I can't wait to what happens next, with quinn, Faustine (now that her dad is back), Cordelia, Taylor and the rest of them.
"Trust no one" this rule is definitely true in this book and you see exactly why this rule exists. Anyone can be compromised you just never know. I kept second guessing everyone and I was still shocked by the betrayels. So much happens during code uprising to try and get control back from Katerinas people. Everyone is comprised and its up to the academies to regain control and rescue everyone.
A great continuation of the Bonfire story and while some of the pieces of the puzzle were solved, many others are still out there. Imogen Rose has done a great job of bringing all of her characters to life. The story grabs you from page one and keeps you glued to the pages until the very end. I have enjoyed all of her books and looking forward to the rest of the story.
A really fast paced novel that follows Faustine and Cordelia as they become part of fight to reunite the paranormal world and rescue the sovereigns. If you enjoy the Bonfire Chronicles or the Portal series then you'll enjoy this book.
continuous adventure, action and surprises. A must read to follow the other two books. couldn't stop reading , keeps you going wanting more , waiting for the next hopefully....
Faustian, Cordelia and the other members of Bonfire have been successful in retaking control of all things deal with the Uprising. The main threat is over and things are starting to return to normal.
After reading Faustine l was a bit disappointed not to learn what has happened to Cordelia. I still find Faustine (the girl) annoying, and this book was for me difficult to get through. Is kind of predictable.
I just love this series! An amazing story YA. Really good interaction between the 2 series of Imogen that give the perfect backgrond about the full story.
This series just keeps getting better and better. It kept me on the edge of my seat. So much action, supernatural and love. Can't wait to read the rest of the series.
I really can't stand Faustine... When she was little and the story was narrated by Cordelia, she was a bit better, but now she's a brat, so spoiled and childish.
