I’ve groused in a few reviews that I’m sometimes not happy with stories that make me wait until the last quarter of the book for the hero and heroine to hit the sheets. I’m all for sexual tension in a story, but sometimes don’t you wish all that passion, all that lust, all that tension would just belt you big time and the characters feed off it the rest of the way? Well, get ready for this latest book from HelenKay Dimon. Big-time belt right off the bat.

Chemistry doesn’t have a thing on Lincoln and Thea. You meet them when he pushes her up against the wall in his office, something Thea’s been wanting and waiting for since she became his assistant. Sexual harassment? Ha! Doesn’t mean a thing because Thea is as hungry for Linc as he is for her. Linc does try to do the right thing, but as determined as Thea is after so many months of wanting this man, he doesn’t stand a chance. That first scene is fierce and frenzied between them, and that sets the pace for the rest of the book, despite what happens to them – the very next day.

There’s been a breach in the company’s information, a mole in their midst, and everything points to Thea. Without asking for an explanation, with a heavy heart, Linc has his beautiful betrayer escorted from the building. He has doubts, he knows Thea and her ethics, but how can he refute the evidence? It’s completely damning. In the aftermath of all the drama, Linc is no good at work, his friends, or for himself. Deciding he has to talk with Thea, find out what she has to say, he discovers she’s left the city with no trail to follow.

Thea’s life only goes into a further spin after her termination, and now Linc is on her doorstep after putting one over on a visiting friend. Having to nearly force himself over the threshold to see her, Linc suddenly realizes what he’s lost and will do anything to get her back. But Thea is hiding something and she’s not sure her secret is what they need between them right now. But I love these scenes that have them vacillating from anger to hunger at the drop of a hat. The emotion is high amid sassy banter and intense loving. And there’s a lot of forgiveness going on along with it all.

I’m so totally hooked on HelenKay Dimon’s books. I have fun, I laugh, and I run the emotional gamut in nearly every scene. Her characters are always charming and real, and I have such a good time with them. Every time. I won’t be missing any of her books in the future.

HelenKay Dimon is bringing us a brand new series Men at Work. In this first book Lincoln Cambell is attracted to his new assistant Thea Marshall. He knows better than to mix business with pleasure and has a company rule about dating within the company. One day he breaks that rule and by the next day regrets it when it looks like Thea might have stole company secrets and shared them with a rival. Without talking to her about it and presenting her with the evidence so she might have a chance to defend herself he publicly fires her. She pleads with him to talk to her but his hurt feelings won't allow anything other that getting her away from him. It's not long though and he's wondering if she really did it and if he didn't overreact. Thea has no family left and she took the job with Linc's company to start over and fell hard for her boss from day one and their night together thought they might have something. After Linc fires her she goes away to her parents cabin to get a grip on things and be alone and figure out what to do. She gets a surprise from her night with Linc she didn't expect but is happy to have. Then her friends show up to check on her and hot on their heels is Linc. He invites himself to stay and they are forced to sort out their feelings and what happened at work. Linc and Thea have chemistry from page one and the first chapter is so hot there is no way you can set this down without reading it to the end so don't start it if you do not have a nice block of time to read. Linc is a bit of a alpha male with a chip on his shoulder but Thea is no pushover and can take care of herself. Excellent writing and the person who in the end stole the secrets was not who i expected at all so kudos to HelenKay Dimon for getting me there. lol Great introduction to what looks to be a really hot series!

**HelenKay is a personal friend so take this review however you want.**
This story hit almost all my hot buttons in things that I love about romance novels. It had great emotion, an enthralling love story, and a hero and heroine who just don’t know what to do with their emotions. Thea was working as Linc’s assistant but after just a few months neither of them could deny the heat between them. After one hot night together Linc is presented with evidence that Thea may not be who she says she is. After being betrayed by the man she was falling in love with, Thea is at odd ends. She escapes to the Cascades to try and sort out her life but after weeks on her own, Linc follows her. Linc hasn’t been able to get Thea off his mind. Even though he feels utterly betrayed by her, he has to see if there’s any way they can form a relationship. When Thea hits Linc with some unexpected news he will do anything to keep them together. Loved the emotion, the despair that Thea felt. I really enjoyed the story and am excited with the new series introduced by Ms. Dimon.

He usually gets what he wants. What he wants is her…and all that comes with her.

This blurb came from the author’s website.

E: When I started hearing buzz that a few authors I enjoyed were plotting based on twitter commentary about favorite tropes I knew I had to get my hands on those stories. Dimon’s Baby, It’s Cold Outside started off with a with a blast of heat as Lincoln and Thea spent an evening in his office working through their mutual sexual tension, then the very next day everything changed. Instead of dealing with the stress of hiding their affair, Lincoln was confronted with proof that Thea was providing bid secrets to his rival and Thea found herself tossed out of the company without a single idea as to why. With this beginning Dimon certainly had me hooked.

Meka: I obviously missed that twitter conversation, but E and my tropes twin Lillie know when a book is going to be good for me, especially in terms of which tropes I enjoy. The beginning of the book definitely caught my attention. Frobidden sex in the office with the man who is basically breaking all of his own rules? Oh yeah. Thea’s determination to get what she wants after she’s had to wait all this time? Completely refreshing to read! That’s why when Thea is escorted out of the office without a reason why, it was all the more gut-wrenching and difficult to read.

E: Lincoln had a hard time believing Thea was really betraying the company but until evidence proving otherwise showed up he felt that he had no other choice. I liked that he went after Thea more than once, to try to find out why and to get her back into his life. But I didn’t like that he was pushy and refused to actually talk to her except about his thoughts and feelings. However, I loved his insistence that regardless of anything else, he would take care of his responsibilities and not just from a distance.

Meka: Lincoln was a bit of a hard sell for me, honestly. They had such amazing chemistry together and then he never asked Thea if she did anything, simply assumed based on the evidence but refused to point it out to her. That really annoyed me, but he did make up for it by being intense and manning up when he really needed to do so. His angst over wanting Thea even though he truly believed that she had stolen company secrets made him more likeable, but I was totally on Team Thea. His expectations of making things up to her and trying to power his way through made me admire his persistence even as I cringed at his arrogance. When some things are revealed, I nearly cheered at the way that he took responsibility and didn’t pull a card that is all too familiar. He was pushy, arrogant, and frustrating, yet sweet, willing to back down, and quite an adorable worrier.. after he confided in Thea, I completely understand why he was that way.

E: I mostly liked Thea because she was a strong woman. When her world turned upside down not once but twice instead of curling up, she gave herself time to heal and figure out what she was going to do next. I loved her optimism and determination that she wasn’t going back to Lincoln until he came to the realization that she was innocent. I also liked how she also planned to share certain information with Lincoln instead of leaving him unaware. She also struck me as rather emotionally mature with her willingness to talk things out regardless of how angry and hurt she was feeling. I did a little mental happy dance when she successfully managed to get Lincoln to prove her entire point to himself.

Meka: Thea was such a wonderful character that I could really cheer for. She had the emotional fortitude to deal with all of the mess that Lincoln slung her way, and yet was also able to deal with her own flaws. While Lincoln put her through a lot of emotional upheaval, she was not afraid to stand up for herself and kick him out if need-be. She was able to deal with a terrible situation, and yet we also weren’t spared her emotional vulnerabilities or how the hero’s actions affected her. I love that she didn’t just let him waltz back in to her life—he had to find it. Like E said earlier, she really had the chance to be completely immature about a certain situation, so I was so thrilled that she took the high road instead.

E: While I enjoyed Baby, It’s Cold Outside, I found myself feeling slightly letdown by the end. As much mental and emotional anguish Lincoln put Thea through, I expected to see a mega groveling scene. Yes, Lincoln was suffering from a few shocks as he discovered what happened, but he appeared to have a problem looking at anything from a different perspective. As a result, I never reached the point when I felt he had actually learned and would ask before leaping to a conclusion despite a heated discussion with Thea. So I was slightly disappointed when she took him back after the big reveal but without a big grovel. That being said Baby, It’s Cold Outside was an enjoyable read and I do look forward to seeing what else Dimon has up her sleeves for future installments in her Men at Work series.
I give Baby, It’s Cold Outside a B

Meka: I really enjoyed this book and the building that needed to be done in order to repair the relationship between Lincoln and Thea. This book tugged on all of my emotional strings and tied them in a knot, and I really loved that. However, I, too, felt as though Lincoln needed to do a whole lot of groveling at the end. I didn’t realize that was what was leaving me feeling a little disappointed, but it’s exactly it. I wanted the big grovel, the I’m totally sorry. I don’t know that I am sold on their happily ever after, but I do believe that they are off to a good start.. With great characters, wonderful dialogue, and an emotional story to boot, I give Baby, It’s Cold Outside a B.

I wanted to like this one more than I did but the hero just pissed me off so royally that I couldn't quite find it in my heart to forgive him completely. I can't say that I didn't understand why he reacted the way he did but dammit she deserved better than what he did to her.

Thea has worked for Lincoln as his assistant for a while now and has always harbored a crush on the man. She's understandably shocked when the walls finally come down between them and they spend an amazing night together. This amazing night turns in to a nightmare the next day when he treats her coldly and then fires her with no explanation as to why. When she finds out that she's been accused of corporate espionage she's shocked but crushed that he wouldn't even let her defend herself or know what he was accusing her of. She's even more distraught to find out that she's pregnant but knows that she will give this child something special and love it even though the father is a man who she wishes she could forget. I liked her strength in knowing that she would defend the child no matter what but that she also didn't plan on not telling him once she was safely past the riskiest time in most pregnancies.

Lincoln ... I'm trying to come up with something nice about him and to be honest he's a selfish prick most of the story. He's such a driven man and finding out about his childhood makes it possible to sort of feel for him but dammit he's just so selfish and righteous that it just pissed me off. He's so willing to believe the worst about the woman who has been his rock that I just wanted to scream at her to run far far away. I felt for him in some respects but he's just too arrogant for me to completely soften to him even though I think that once the truth came out he might have actually realized what he almost lost because of his arrogance. Yes the evidence was pretty damning but it might have been nice if he was at least willing to talk to her and give her the chance to explain that while the evidence was damning it wasn't 100% conclusive.

Anyway... if you can get past his arrogance there is a good story here and I am looking forward to more in this series where we can hopefully see a bit more of Thea and Lincoln so I can maybe just maybe like him a bit more...

Special thanks to HelenKay Dimon for giving me the chance to read this one early. While Lincoln didn't work for me 100% I still can't wait for more...

Petra's Review: http://mrsconditreadsbooks.com/index....
This book was good, there was a lot going on outside the usual boy meets girl. To start with the very opening pages are hot up against the wall “getting to know you”, of course the relationship goes downhill from there! The next day Linc is face with evidence that Thea has stolen from him. I like that he does what he has to rather than saying she is innocent based on one night of sex. However I also like that throughout the book she wants him to know she is innocent and keeps asking if he believes her yet. And I have to say who WAS responsible came as a surprise to me! Linc getting sympathy heaves when Thea was sick also made me laugh as I suffer from the same problem whenever my children are ill!! I was also deeply amused by the fact that everyone arrived at Thea’s out of the way cabin, it was just like a day in the office, and I did love Linc’s business partner Nick. What I didn’t like, and I find this hard to explain as all the story threads were tied up, was that it just ended too soon. I was expecting some scenes back in the city and it was one of those books where to turn the page and are surprised that it’s finished and you get that Oh feeling. However it does say book one so perhaps book 2 picks up straight after, we will have to wait and see!

This book was good, it was short though I hope that the story of Linc & Thea is carried over into the next book because we are kind of left wondering what happens to them. Thea is Linc's personal assistant & the woman that no other can match, he's loved her since she walked in his office the first time. Now after a night of lust he finds that this woman is the prime suspect in the theft of important information from his company. With what he thinks if absolute proof he fires her & cuts her out of his life with no explanations; he thinks she already knows why she's gone but she doesn't. Thea is shocked by the actions of the only man she's ever loved even though he doesn't know it, she leaves town so that she doesn't have to have contact with Linc & to lick her wounds & try to figure out why this all happened after she gets an unexpected surprise. Linc can't let go though & goes after her only to be stunned by the surprise that's waiting for him. Can they figure out what happened? Can they get past what happened? What does the surprise mean for their future? I look forward to the next book in the series to see what happens & I hope that the book is on Nick, Linc's best friend & business partner.

I loved this book. Linc had behaved like a jerk and he knew it. First he slept with Thea, an employee, then the morning after he fired her for stealing from his company without even giving her a chance to explain. True, the evidence was stacked against her but he thought he'd known her so her betrayal cut deep. Now she was pregnant and he found himself trying to work things out with her because he'd just figured out he loved her. Thea had been devastated when she was fired with no explanation. She'd given her heart, not just her body, to Linc. A co-worker told her they thought she'd stolen something from the company and sold it to a competitor. Apparently they had some kind of evidence against her although she hadn't a clue as to what it could be since she didn't do it. On top of that, she's pregnant so she knows she'll have to face Linc eventually to inform him he's going to be a dad. She goes away to regroup, never imagining Linc would follow. Two very strong-willed people who are crazy in love have a lot of obstacles to overcome on their way to happily ever after, but I love the way they go about it. I was hooked on their story from the very beginning and didn't want to put it down. A highly entertaining read.

Lincoln and Thea are the epitome of stereotypical romance. I was so disappointed with this book. It had everything that people make fun of romance novels within it. Boss and assistant having sex, assistant being blamed for stealing and helping the opposition, misunderstandings and total boredom. This was a book that was truly very difficult to read, because of the “typical” romance writing.

It took everything in me to finish it, I kept thinking that it would pick up and change tactics after each page but nothing like that happened.
Shocked and disappointed. If this was suspenseful due to the “storm” rolling in and there being snow, that went right over my head.

Wow, Baby It’s Cold Outside (Men at Work #1) by HelenKay Dimon grabs you right from the start and the emotional roller coaster never lets up. The two main characters, Thea Marshall and Linc Campbell, have amazing chemistry and their story is replete with lust, loathing and love. Ms. Dimon is an excellent storyteller and her words kept me captivated from beginning to end.

I like how irrational the hero was at times..I liked how angry he was. I liked their hot sex. I liked the heroine.

BUT - just a little communication y'all. Just a little communication between the hero and the heroine would have made this story better. I couldn't stand the fact they never talked about the evidence or anything. GAH!!!

But even with that these two were hot. The first chapter - sexy.

Full review to come.

Not always is the evidence accurate when it appears focused on one person. An insecure handsome corporate businessman who usually knows how to get what he wants using one of his genuine tactics; his temper. A smart and grounded woman who is not easily manipulated—in life nor on the morning after, or any occasion. In central D.C in a quite neighboring vacation town in Thea's family cabin where truths, betrayals and the future will be hanging on the balance.

Short and bland. I liked that the story didn't start like normal romances but it lacked any tension or affection for the main characters. The side characters lacked life and personalities. Not very holiday oriented, so i felt misled, it snowed once. I liked the concepts but it wasn't given enough plot or development through the story.

This one was just ok for me. I think I would have found it more believable had Thea not let Linc walk all over her. I especially didn't care that she hopped back into bed with him right after finding out that he still didn't 100% believe that she stole company info from him.

I really wanted to like this one but the whole issue of distrust was never satisfactorily resolved for me. It left me feeling that the hero was an ass and the heroine was weak and therefore the romance itself just didn't work.

neat and simple boss and assistant love affair that turns into a pregnancy story. Good characters. enjoyable, saw the ending very early on with one sentence. Ancillary characters are a little oddly used.

It's short but sweet. The premise is believable, though I'd really have to say that 9 weeks is a long time to stew and get the rosy-colored glasses off. Guess I'm just not as forgiving a person as Thea.
