Neal Marchal and Truly Lambert find themselves being presented with opportunities in the entertainment business neither dreamed possible. But they don't know if these are the right choices to make for their career. The money is impossible to turn down. Tru is confronted with paying for college and Neal faces the cost of surgery to repair the damage to her leg caused by her stepbrother's violent temper. They say yes to the offer and Tru winds up in Hollywood on a movie set while Neal winds up in a hospital operating room. Even though Neal's stepbrother, Joe Kent, is in jail now awaiting trial for the murder of his sister, Shannon, he remains a presence in Neal's life. The memories of his brutality are never far away and come flooding back when a cable news show takes up Joe's cause to prove his innocence. Through the successes and the set-backs, Neal and Truly draw closer. Does the hot upcoming singer, Sephira Knight, come between them? What about the movie offer Tru receives--is he tempted? Does Neal's own movie project pull them apart? And there's always the bête noir of Joe Kent, ready to rise up and ruin Neal's life once again.
I still love the relationship between Neal and Truly, and I do love a good cliff hanger ending, but these three books really felt like one book that got hacked up into three parts for no reason. The story of Neal and Truly makes it worth reading.
I just love the Bad Apple series. Neal and Truly always get to me. I love how Neal finally gets her operation and Truly gets his dream of Hollywood. Neal is affected by the everlingering presents of her abusive murder stepbrother Joe Kent. Even with him in jail there is always a chance of him getting out throughout the book. Also Emily gets a wonderful present from the kids a beautiful horse! Maybe her dream can become realized as well.I love the way Barbara Morgenroth has incorporated other characters from other books into the Bad Apple series. I always hoped Neal would get her big break too. Tru and Neal have such a special relationship. I hope it survives when I get to read book 4! Thank you Barbara Morgenroth I am Truly hooked on Bad Apples!
I love this series and each book is bringing out more of Neal and Truly's personalities and growth. These are people you come to care about and hope their dreams become real. Ready to start reading the next book as this one left me hanging for more.
