I just wasn't into it. I also skimmed through before I gave up, and there are detailed sex scenes he is forced to do with his maker. I really can't do it after that.

Julian (the vamp) enters Kate's life unconventionally shall we say, but for some reason he really connects with Kate and her with him, unfortunately his maker is not too pleased, which scuppers his ideas....and leads to danger for him and Kate.

There are five main characters in this book and they are all very entertaining, Reese the cheeky vampire friend and Mazzie the protective best mate. I haven't mentioned yet that our Kate is 38! Yes 38 an older female lead how refreshing.

I loved Julian, not at first as I mentioned their first meeting is unconventional so I was like hhmmmm.... but then I saw past his initial behaviour.

Evangeline is Julian's maker and she is evil gone mad!

I liked the storyline, there is lots of sex, and of course Julian is a demon in the bedroom, he is dominant in that department but he comes across as warm and caring too. I found the banter between all the characters very entertaining. The story is written so we hear both Kate's and Julian's point of view, which I admit is my favourite set up - I really enjoy hearing the male POV.

Good story, great characters and the book flows well until........Word of warning cliffy....book 2 not due till summer 2014

Regardless of the wait, I would recommend this book to my PNR and erotic book friends.

Would I let Julian in? Hell yes :)

The very first chapter had me just as fascinated as Julian was as we watched Kate (quite unknowingly) put on that little show in the parking lot of the Shelter she volunteered. It is the importance to details, here and all through the story that brings the characters true to life. It also made me wonder what Kate would have thought, had she known, something as simple as dropping her keys was about to change her life forever. I felt like this was the defining moment Julian knew he was going to have her, for just one night. ( yeah, right?)
I have read hundreds of vampire stories, and what I really liked here was the fact that Julian, although he is in fact knock me down and do me gorgeous, he is by far not perfect. He makes a few bad calculations and he isn't the strongest vamp around, at least not until his friend Reese, who is an older vamp gives him some of his blood, that gives him a fighting chance when he decides to take on Evangeline, his maker. She wants Julian, who never wanted her, and when she learns of Julian being with Kate, well, that's when things get intense....But I have to say, this isn't your usual, beautiful woman meets dangerous, dark vamp and fawns all over him, & they spend eternity together. no no no ....First off, Kate is not teenage model material, she has her flaws just like the rest of us, and she's a little older, and a little heavier than she'd like to be. and her " forever" with Julian is not a given. One lusty, erotic, fantasy filled night in the arms of a stranger, does not forever make....at least it's suppose to only be one night, remember? Hell, she doesn't even know that he's a vampire. A lot is going to happen before that little cat is let out of the bag...which brings me to Kate's BFF Mazzie. She is one tough cookie, and she is fierce with her loyalty to Kate, and I am still waiting to find out what in the 7 hells went on in that bathroom between her & Julian. And way later with Mazzie, laying in a pool of blood when Reese finds her and Julian is going insane looking for Kate who is no where to be found....& Insert cliffhanger here..

“Master for Tonight” is a very well written novel technically speaking. If there were any errors, I didn’t see them. The narrative flowed well and the story moved at a fairly brisk pace. For a first novel, Barris gives us a work written with an expert hand that an author writing for years would hesitate to rival.

Barris does offer some twists out of the ordinary. Readers looking for action or heat will be satisfied. Julian and Kate are not assured a happy ending. There is a seriously powerful and somewhat crazy maker between them and she’s not even going to begin to buy Julian’s flip explanation of a fly by night fling. Barris convincingly writes the character as off-balance and one that could simply do anything. The suspense at points is delicious. The erotica was not so much for me. Kate has fantasies of being dominated and controlled with which I cannot identify but given the popularity of certain former fan-fiction blockbusters seems like an idea that is quite popular. If that sort of domination floats your boat, you cannot go wrong with “Master for Tonight.”

Master for Tonight is a great vampire read. I love me some vampire stories anyways but this one took the icing on the cake. Sometimes I get a little nervous when I read vampire romance but this one flowed so smoothly and the characters were very believable so it was easy to start reading and when I got to the end I was like what the frig I need more.

Julian is the vampire in this story and good God almighty he is sex on a stick. Man this vampire makes you quake reading about him and how gorgeous he is and the sex scenes are of the chart so beware because these scenes will make your mother blush! So Julian is down in the ghetto getting his fix of blood from low life criminals when he hears something and he stops feeding to see the most gorgeous woman he has ever seen in front of him. He wants her she is like a siren calling to him and he is intrigued by her and wants her but he has a jealous maker so he has to be careful so she doesn't get hurt.

As Julian follows the woman he finds out her name is Kate. Julian is determined to find out everything about this woman who has stolen his heart but he knows he can only offer her one night because his maker will kill Kate and possibly kill him to. As Julian starts to get to know Kate he knows he wants her and he can't be without her. As he offers her one night of passion he knows it will not be enough and so night after night they come together and have the greatest sex and the greatest time together Julian has to figure out how to keep Kate safe from his maker.

Can he keep Kate safe or will it all be in vain and his maker kill her........

Oh my!!!! This book was unbelievably HOT!!! I so love Julian. His love for the ones he loves is remarkable and so loving. Julian would do anything to keep his love Kate safe!!!!
Please please read this!!! I just bought part 2 since I can't wait to know what happens!!!! Great cliffhanger. I am just glad that Master for Tonight II is out already!

Kate and Julian's love story in Master for Tonight threw me for a loop quite a few times during their tale. At first I wasn't sure if this was going to be a book I enjoyed, mostly because we found out very little about either character before they had a full on screw-fest and that bothered me a little. Not knowing anything about someone who you jump into bed with that hard, especially when she thought he was an INTRUDER baffled me. However, as the story sorted itself out I grew to really enjoy both of these characters individually and even more together. I'll be honest I've never had a book that turned me around against my initial reaction to a story like this one did so bear with me.

Kate was a bit of a conundrum in my eyes. on one hand you have a girl with low self-esteem but a great heart. One that leads her to help out whoever she can on a daily basis and work harder than any character that I have read. She doesn't think highly of herself but to be real, who does? She is an approachable character that as a reader I could myself in her shoes. Then Julian enters the picture and does his little mind-meld thing and she is this confident, self-asserting chick that I would have loved her to become....if he didn't manipulate her mind to do make it happen. I wanted him to pull this person out of Kate not just snap his fingers and it be done.

I feel like with everything that happens along the way in this story, this side of Kate would have been revealed and she didn't need Julian to just force her to be a certain way. Do I think he would have drawn it out of her as the story progressed? Absolutely, but the instant and forced personality change wasn't necessary. The reason I say this is because through their struggle to be together I think they both found out a lot more about themselves than I thought they would starting out. They grew as a couple and as a unique person. Although they had to fight to end up together, that struggle really made being with the other worth it in the end. This story is hot and sexy but it'll also warm your heart with the love they find in each other.

What can I say about this book, well for a Debut Novel it's pretty good and I really enjoyed the storyline. It's actually very well written, and if you like a lot of sex in you're books then look no further. The sex scenes are very well written very hot and will get your juices flowing. The only thing I did miss at the beginning is the character development between Kate and Julian but you do feel it in the second half of the book.

Julian has a hard decision to make but his love for Kate never wavered and what he has to go through to find his way back to her wasn't very nice he really does have a nasty maker. But we all love a bad guy/women right as they just make the story and Evangeline does just that.

Kate's character does suffer a lot because of Julian but you know he did what he had to do to protect her. You really do feel the love that Kate and Julian have for each other even if there are people out there who don't like it.

Mazzie was my favourite character she is so loyal to Kate and tries to get her to see reason when it comes to Julian and I still would like to know what happened in the bathroom between her and Julian..lol

The ending had me on a OMG you can't end it there and I’m desperate to know what happens next.

This book gets a 4 ½ stars from me.

I'm so happy I found this author!
After reading I knew I had to read more by this author. I immediately jumped into this series and absolutely fell in love with Julian. Once again Elaine Barris provides more that just a quick and easy PNR read. What I thought was going to be a fast and sexy read turned into an elaborate story with more characters and back story than I was expecting.
This book does end with a cliff hanger so go ahead and have the second book on hand because you're going to want to know how this story ends!

MASTER FOR TONIGHT is about Julian, a vampire who stumbles upon Kate and is instantly in lust. He spends the next six months keeping watch before he finally decides to make his move. He uses his vampire mojo to convince her to let him into her house and her body. After some reluctance, Kate agrees to every wicked promise Julian makes and has a sex filled night she’s not likely to forget. Until Julian’s maker (Evangeline) orders him to wipe Kate’s memory and punishes him for his betrayal. After suffering at the hands of Evangeline for weeks, he’s finally able to return to Kate, but doing so puts her life in more danger.

This book ends in a cliffhanger, so you’ll need book 2 to find out what happens. I’m assuming book 2 could be the finale, but I could be wrong.

So I’m not really sure what to say about this book. My Kindle tells me that this book should be about a four hour read, but it took me three days to finish it. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either. It just wasn’t one of those books that grabbed me to the point of not being able to put it down.

I would have preferred if this book ended with the HEA for Julian and Kate, and perhaps book 2 be about Reese and Mazzie. I guess because it took me a few days to finish, I felt it dragged out a little too long, and then to get to the end and find a cliffhanger? Not what I was expecting.

From what I’ve read, MASTER FOR TONIGHT is Elaine’s debut novel. I thought the book was really well written and the sex scenes were hot, with my favourite being the spanking scene towards the end.

I liked Julian and Reese, but I sometimes felt Kate was a little erratic. And Mazzie towards the end annoyed me, but I suspect there’s a reason for that, one you’ll find out about in book 2. And Evangeline, what a crazy bitch. Seriously. It’s like watching those movies where you say to yourself “If you’d just killed her when you had the chance none of this mess would be happening right now.”. Of course, then you’d have no story either, so Rock, meet Hard Place.

Please be warned that there are a couple of sensitive scenes involving Julian and Evangeline.

Masters for Tonight by Elaine Barris is an introduction into the dangerous and often erotic lives of vampires and their unexpected human counterparts. The erotic scenes were brilliantly written making readers feel deliciously voyeuristic without having to leave the comfort of their homes. The opening framework sets the stage for the dark undertones that make us all fear being alone at night. Readers can discern Kate’s qualities and imperfections as they resonate within many of us, and bring together commonalities we all possess, even from different walks of life. Evangeline’s deranged behavior guides many readers to loathe her, but it also leads us to empathize with her and her desire to simply be loved. Reese and Julian exude sexuality from every pore of their bodies and bring to us an awareness not only of their previous lives, but the raw and lascivious dispositions that many of us tend to suppress not only to others, but to ourselves as well. For lovers of the paranormal and enthusiasts of erotica, I highly recommend Master for Tonight by Elaine Barris as she handles both genres exquisitely.

I received a free ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review. Julian was made a vampire against his will by his psychotic maker Angeline. Many times he had tried to get away but she was much stronger than he and always dragged him back. One night while feeding he saw a woman named Kate, who attracted him like no other and he followed her, always watching over her, knowing she could never be hIs. Eventually it became too much for him and he decided she would be his for just one night and then he would walk away. It was a night he would never forget and a night and one Kate would never remember as Evangeline found him and forced him to remove her memories or let her die. Time passed and Julian suffered under his makers torture, all to keep Kate safe, but it was not enough and she went after Kate again. This was compulsive reading, excellent dialogue full of deep, dark emotions and fearful story line twists to keep the reader on edge culminating in a cliff hanger at the end.

This a very sensually erotic vampire story by Elaine Barris and it’s a fantastic read. Elaine really knows how to write a vampire romance story and she is my favourite author of writing vampire stories. Julian is a very old tortured vampire he just wants a happy life but his maker won’t let him, one night when Julian is feeding Kate interrupts him and he is so intrigued by this woman he follows her home. Kate is a lonely woman who has been badly hurt in the past she has trust and anxiety issues but when she meets Julian he changes her whole world. This is such a fantastic story and you really could imagine the characters as real people especially Kate and the anxiety issues she has, and who wouldn’t want a vampire lover like Julian?, ✋🏼 my hand is up. I look forward to reading more from Elaine Barris, so thank you Elaine for these fantastic stories. A 5 plus ++++ ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Whew! This was an incredible read. Never read anything by Elaine Barris before and I am so happy I got the chance to do so.

Vampire meets human...yeah, read that before. However, I was enthralled with Elaine's take on it.

Julian stumbles across Kate and she has him enchanted. He watches her for a while and just can't stop himself from actually meeting her. It's just for one night. Kate is your everyday normal human who does a lot of good, has a crappy family and is cautious about men.

Their night is incredible and so begins the rollercoaster ride that is their love story.

As the book cover says, this book is an erotic novel, and the passionate love scenes will not disappoint any fan of erotica novels. If you do not like erotic novels with a lot of detailed love scenes, I would not recommend this to you. However, if you love a scorching hot erotic romance, this is definitely a book that you should look into.

“I know what you need, and I can give it to you.”

When it comes to the characters, I was a little disappointed with the main character. Kate was a kind girl, but had a lot of issues with her self-confidence, which almost all girls could probably relate to. What I did not like was how drastically her personally changed in a short amount of time because of Julian. I just do not think her character was developed as well as it could have been. I hope to see more character development with Kate in the next book. I did love her best friend, Mazzie, and I hope to see more of her in the next book.

Next, is Julian. Kate's description of him basically had me drooling:

“His facial hair looked longer and softer than day-old stubble, but wasn’t long enough to be considered a full beard. Lips, burnished red an lush- lips that a lover would sink into when kissing.”



Obviously, Julian is quite good looking. I really did not know how I felt about his character. I felt like the first love making scene was quite abrupt, and I was not sure how I was going to like the book. It kind of weirded me out that they made love when Kate thought he was an intruder. I also felt like the relationship between Julian and Kate was forced at first. I will also admit that sometimes the dialogue was a little lackluster in my opinion. However, I stuck with the book, and I really grew to love Julian and the relationship between Julian and Kate. I was soon devouring the book and I needed to know what was going to happen next. The storyline was great; there was mystery and suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat. I am really glad that I continued the book because by the end, I enjoyed the book a lot. I screamed at my Kindle when the book ended because of the cliffhanger. I need to read the sequel so I can know what happens next. I recommend this book to anyone looking for an erotic vampire romance.

I started this book in the morning and I couldn't put it down. This is the first book I have read by this author and I was blown away . Let me introduce you to Julian and Kate . Julian is a vampire who is drawn to Kate a beautiful yet lonely human. He knows that she is the one for him but his maker will never let him go. So he decides to have her for just one night . Bring her out of her shell and make her happy, But things are more then they seem and will they survive to let their love bloom

The characters in this debut novel are very well written, Julian is a very tortured old soul. He just wants is to have peace and happiness . He is very dark and as sexy as hell . He is sex on a stick. Any girl would love to give one night to him . Kate is a character that has had it bad in her life and been hurt a lot. She was kind of annoying at the beginning but as I read more she became more likable. My favorite character has to be Mazzie she is kick ass and doesn't let anyone or anything get in her way. She is no nonsense and has helped Kate through a lot. I loved her ballsy attitude . She was fun to read

For this being a debut novel the author really set the stage and made her characters stand out. The twists and turns will keep you reading. This hands up is a dark vampire erotica and trust me your kindle will want to melt while reading the night with Julian and Kate . Be prepared for some pantie melting going on. I will tell you one thing though. There is a cliff hanger and I mean a big cliff hanger . So buy both books and just keep reading. So when you read this book I suggest a nice cold drink and a fan cause its going to get hot. Ps this book will give you a book hang over also. So if you want a good dark vampire erotica , with twists and turns check it out . You won't be disappointed

Julian is a vampire that has been changed against his will and he has no love for his master that turned him. Even though his master, Evangeline has had it in her head that Julian can only be with her and no one else. Julian is hot and I have to say that I would love to find him in my bed any night of the week!! Julian has fallen hard for Kate, but Evangeline will not let him go, she makes him do things that no one ever should have to be subjected to, it was hard to read at times. Can Julian break free and be in the arms of the only woman he has ever loved?!

Im not a big fan of Kate, she was not my favorite character in this book, truth be told I loved her best friend, Mazzie and even Reese ( who is Julian's best friend ) so much more. I was holding out for Kate all the way to the end. I just hope that in the second book she comes around for me.

Master for tonight was a interesting book. I have mixed feelings when it comes to this book. I so wanted to love it when I started it, I mean how could you not want to love a book about hot sexy vampires, not to mention one that likes to play in the bedroom. I have to be honest and say that I was I bit disappointed with some of the dialogue. It lacked a connection, it felt like I was watching a late night T&A movie. Which is not totally bad, it was just too much for me. With that being said I thoroughly enjoyed the plot, the story was fantastic. It took a little time to get going, but once it did I could not put the book down at all. I just a had to know what was going to happen next to the main charters. I'm not a fan of cliffhangers, only cause I hate waiting for the next book to be released

This was the book I was waiting for!! :) It had romance, humor, passion, and great story telling. All without too much of one thing. It had the perfect ingredients. I am so happy a friend recommended this book to me and that I read it. I then recommended it to another coworker and then it was like a chain reaction. We all can't stop talking about this book.
This story is about Julian Montfort and Kate Collins. Julian is a vampire with one of the most vicious and ugly Makers I have ever had the chance to read about. Kate is a hard worker and a volunteer at the local shelter. Julian sees her one night and he falls in love. He scouts her out for 6 months until he finally knocks on her door and asks her to let him in for one night of the most amazing sex of her life. And then walk away.
The passion they shared definetly got me through the cold snow storm that was happening during the reading of this book! But how can one walk away after all that passion? Well I guess you'll have to read and find out and I promise you that you will not be disappointed!! This story ends with a cliffhanger and it leaves you rushing to read the next book! And thankfully I don't have to wait for it ;) Their two best friends Mazzie and Reese (who is also a vampire) bring this story together as well. They are the perfect balance this story needed alongside Julian and Kate.
Elaine Barris wrote some of the most romantic lines in this book that I put sticky notes everywhere because I want to remember them forever. She is an author that I would read anything by because she truly knocked this one out of the park!!

This Book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*

I have read a lot of vampire books and I am always interested in a new take on the genre. This managed to feel fresh although in retrospect I have read similar ideas before and at times this did border on being a little predictable for me, but then when you read pretty much everything out there on the subject I suppose this is to be expected.

This is basically straight up dark, vampire erotica. Well written although I can see that it definitely wouldn't be everybody's cup of tea. The title gives the perfect clue that some dominance issues are to prevail and who better to provide them than a vampire.

To be honest I found the female protagonist a little annoying, but she played her part well. I found myself more interested in the maker, Evangeline and am extremely glad that her story isn't over yet. I could have done WITHOUT the massive cliffhanger at the end though. That to me is a very annoying trait in writing lately as if the authors feel compelled to have it there to set up their next book.

That was an unnecessary hook with this book as the writing was done well enough that I would definitely be interested in seeing where the story went without the annoying wait.

A definite recommend for anyone looking for a quick, erotic, vampire based read.

I was provided with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I genuinely enjoyed it. “Master for Tonight” is an erotic romance with some light BDSM themes. It is the story of Julian and Kate.

Julian was turned into a vampire many years ago. Since his turning, he has been held captive in many ways by his maker Evangeline. Evangeline is a do as I say, not as I do, controlling vampire who is free to have outside relationships, but expects for Julian to remain loyal and monogamous to him.

Kate is the complete opposite of Evangeline. She is a klutz, kind hearted, and spends the majority of her time volunteering to help homeless in her community. While hunting one evening, Julian sees Kate, and is immediately enchanted with her. He wants to explore a relationship with her, but is afraid of Evangeline’s wrath on both of them if he gives into his desires.

Deciding that he can no longer hold back from his desire to be with Kate, Julian promises himself that he will be with her just for one night. When their mutual passion for each other is realized however, will Julian be able to stay away, and will Kate be able to survive the separation from him.

This book is a good read. Julian and Kate are likable. Evangeline is a good villain whom you can root against. I’m looking forward to reading book II in the series.

I enjoyed not just the steamy scenes(still fanning myself) but also the mixture of drama and suspense that kept me glued to my seat and not wanting to put the book down.

I wont go into storyline or spoilers(man I hate that) I will just say that the scenes and characters in this book were well written and I was also pleased that the characters were realistic, not the stereotypical sexy vamp and the young nubile female.. (this is a good thing)

What an Awesome Debut Novel by Elaine Barris I will defiantly be getting book #2
Master for Tonight is added to my re-reads and Favourites list.

I Highly recommend this book to fans of both Vampires and Erotica..

I finally found it! If I were stuck on a deserted island and could only have one book with me, THIS WOULD BE IT!!!! (which is why I ended up buying both the e-book AND the paperback!) This book is absolutely FANTASTIC!!! Elaine Barris is an incredible author! The story flowed perfectly, I was sucked in right from page 1! I felt as if I were right there, watching this amazing story unfold! I couldn't help but fall in love with each and every character, even the villain! What a unique and fresh approach to vampires! I was on the edge of my seat the entire book! I literally couldn't put down my Kindle (even when it burst into flames from the heat!) Master for Tonight has everything you could ever hope for! SO much action and, of course, hot and sexy vampires!!! I DARE you to not fall head over heels for Julian and Reese! What an emotional roller coaster ride! One minute I was biting my nails, the next - needing a cold shower! ;) Put Elaine Barris on your favorite authors list, because you will want to read each and every book she writes!!!

This book is for adults only! If you are looking for hot vampires, sex in the shower and bondage then this would be the book for you!! WARNING... More than one cold shower may be needed while reading this book!!!!

So I have to say that I don't usually read Vampire books, but this one put vampires into a whole new light for me. The vampires in this book aren't just blood thirsty animals (well one is)but the author does a good job at showing their emotions and what effect being a vampire has had on them. The author did a great job at making you feel the emotions of all of the characters. The sex in this book was very detailed and nothing was left out, you knew exactly what was happening. These scenes were HOT HOT HOT!!! Again more than one cold shower may be needed. I cant wait to read the next one in this series and more from Elaine.

I am giving this review for author Elaine Barris. This is book 1 of the series by the author.

Kate Collins works hard but she has panic attacks and when she is sent home from work she thought she would have a nice relaxing evening but that didn't happen. Julian Montfort fell in love with Kate when he started watching he but with his maker causing problems he must save Kate from her.

This cast of characters just works so well with their interaction and playing off each other. The story line worked out well in this book from start to finish and it was a pleasure to read this book.

Because of strong sexual content and language this is for the mature paranormal erotic romance book reader.I can not wait to see how book 2 is. This book starts the series and book 2 starts where this book leaves off so it is best to read them in order.

Some books, you just know from the very first sentence they're gonna be good - Master for tonight is one of them !

Julian is an incredibly sexy and intense vampire who know what he wants and what he wants is Kate, unfortunately his deranged and possessive maker, Evangeline intends to keep Julian as hers and is jealous that a human woman has captured His heart so she is intent on killing Her.

I love kate and Julian, Mazzie is brilliant and Reese I have a bit of a crush on (fans myself)
Every emotion the characters experienced, so did I, This is a brilliant and well written story.
I can't wait to read book 2 and hope that there will be many more books from this very talented Author.

I had this book sitting on my kindle for awhile. If you saw my kindle you would understand that I have a lot of books sitting unread on it. Given the second book in this series has just come out I thought it was time I read the first book. I enjoyed the story although the ending had me kind of staring in shock as if somehow I could will the rest of the story to pop up before me but I'm going to have to read book 2 to see what happens next. The author tells a story that kept my interest, the vampires are sexy, I liked that the leading lady is not the typical 20 something woman. Then there's the sex scenes. They're hot, steamy and guaranteed to have a person reaching for the ice. Definitely recommend this book and I'm looking forward to reading the second book in the series.
