With Takeru settling into his new job as a police officer, he and Sherdog take on their latest mystery in a case that involves the murder of a famous newscaster’s wife. But as Takeru tries to pin this grisly murder on the newscaster, he finds himself in conflict with Kento Munakata, the hot-shot, genius detective in charge of the case. Takeru and Sherdog will do all they can to solve this case, even if it means going above the detective’s head to get things done, but will Takeru’s rash actions hurt or help him in the end?
THE STORY SO FAR The puppy Sherdog-reincarnation of Sherlock Holmes and his owner Takeru Wajima team up to solve tough cases!! Soon after graduating police academy and becoming a police officer, Takeru is faced with his very first case. The popular anchorman Muneo Tsuzuki has killed his wife and is trying to play it off as someone else's murder!
I do come across the strangest of books in our local charity shop and this series is one I started after finding the first two volumes.
The premise is simple. The spirit of the master detective, Sherlock Holmes has reincarnated into the body of a rescue dog. Convinced that his adoptive parent Takeru Wajima is in-fact the reincarnation of trusted sidekick Doctor John Watson, Sherlock opens up communication with the now very confused student.
Volume six continues the trend of concluding the mystery from the end of the previous volume and, once again, starts a new mystery tale. There is also some bonus content, as usual.
Sherdog has had a tendency to 'witness' the crime or the perpetrator fleeing the scene rather than coming upon the mystery 'blind', so to speak. However, with Takeru becoming more intuitive and honing his detective skills, we are getting proper murder mysteries.
A nice touch has been Sherdog reverting to being just a normal puppy, hinting at a possible end to the series as a whole. Sherdog has a few theories as to why it is happening but the pair don't know for sure. It'll be interesting to see whether things wrap up nicely or if the series will be left hanging after the final volume. 4 1/2 stars.
I love the addition of the rival (slash love interest, heavy emphasis on slash)! It's a very fun series, for all that it has some issues with...well, a bunch of representation stuff. Still, I am here for it. A really cute series!
The crimes could be really interesting but they are always seen by Sherdog and then Takeru finds a couple pieces of evidence in which to accuse the murderer and then arrest them.
Still wish they wouldn't tell us who did it and how at the start of each mystery. Wish they'd leave something for us to figure out.
Still, interesting crimes, and it's interesting to see how Sherdog and Takeru solve the crimes.
Love the characters, though I admit that Munakata deserves to get his detective badge revoked. At this point, he's about as good as Case Closed's Richard Moore. In fact, he might be worse, as Richard Moore doesn't constantly push back against the protagonist's theories (though, that might be because he's unconscious for the big reveal...).
But yeah, good to see Takeru starting to solve this stuff with Sherdog more as a consultant than as the puppeteer.
Yuma Ando you do not disappoint. Took me a bit to get in the Holmes mood again but when I was... It was awesome. I cannot wait to get my hands on volume seven, we've been seeing how Takeru has been growing up into a young adult with Sherdog on his side and it's starting to show that Sherdog is seeing Takeru less like his sidekick and more like his student...
Which I just adore. I'm a sucker for stuff like that it's just really nice to see how they've both developed.
I laughed a lot reading this as well some of the panels were just really funny admist all the murder and mayhem.
All in all another perfect edition to Sherlock Bones. Can't wait to see how this wraps up!
