Anne has written her entire life and has the boxes of angst-filled journals and poetry to prove it. She’s been writing for public consumption for the past several years. She lives in rural East Texas with her husband and children in her own private oasis, where she prides herself in her complete lack of social skills, choosing instead to live with the people inside her head.
Currently, she has five romance series. Playing with Fire explores the trials and tribulations of a small team of fire fighters in the fictional mountain town of Pamona Gulch. In Pierce Securities, she gives us Ryan, Evan, Miriam, Zack, Quinten, Jordan, Hollerman, and Simon. Her favorite series, Book B!tches, is all about a group of women in Mystic, Texas who get into all sorts of shenanigans. In Stories of Serendipity, she explores real people living real lives in small town Texas in a contemporary romance setting. In The Four Winds, she chronicles God’s four closest archangels, Uriel, Gabriel, Raphael, and Michael, falling in love and becoming human.

I read this book in one sitting. A very quick read. It was perfectly paced. Amy has been married to her husband for 18 years. Her husband and her have been living more like roommates than husband and wife. They are barely speaking, barely even acknowledging each other.
While in a movie chat site, Amy starts chatting with a man who goes by the name of Cool_Hand_Luke. Cool_Hand_Luke starts making her feel things she has not felt in a long time with her husband. Cool_Hand_Luke wants to meet but Amy tries everything to save her marriage even though her husband rejects her every offer to be intimate.
The writing for some reason took me some time to get used to, not sure why. However, that did not make me want to stop reading. I had to know what was going to happen; who Amy was going to choose, and what was going to happen to her marriage. I was also curious what Cool_Hand_Luke was going to look like. Well we find that all out. I can’t really say much more. It was an interesting read.
One thing I would have loved is if we got the husband’s POV the time when they had an intimate moment. Her husband kept his eyes closed. I want to know what he was thinking. I am hoping that the author can do something extra and put that on her blog. I would love to know her husband’s thoughts.
This in some ways is a very up to date issue. It shows the danger of talking online to someone. To me they both were cheating emotionally. And at the end, her not realising it is her husband, she cheats physically. Not for me.

They have been married for 18 years with two amazing children. But the intensity of their love for each other seemed to dwindle. Amidst all these problems and tension, Amy found a man online to talk to, and yes, it was not her husband. Or she’d like to think so, because every time she chats with him, she fervently wishes it was her husband she was talking too. Deep inside, she missed her old Brian – but their relationship no longer holds intimacy and her husband seems so far away she couldn’t reach him.
She found Cool_Hand_Luke in a movie chat room and they instantly hit it off. What started out to be an online conversation, became flirting, and suddenly went into a curve when a little bit of intimacy was thrown into the picture. The online guy becomes someone she wished her husband was. As the holidays are coming, she tries to hold her family together, while exploring her new found online relationship. Will the two of them ever meet? Will she sacrifice her marriage for someone she hasn’t met? Or will she save her own marriage?
The plot was pretty much predictable – but I wanted to know what will happen afterwards. I want to know their reaction, and the consequences of their actions. Some marriages can go downhill with time – but it takes two to tango. Meaning, the couple must work together to make it through the hardest times. Marriage is not always a piece of cake, it takes a lot of effort to make it work.
Despite its predictability, I liked Amy. Especially the transformation her character has undergone. I think Cool_Hand_Luke made her more confident about herself, and motivated the changes she needed. As for Brian, he needed one good wake up call for him to realize that he could love no one else but Amy. Falling for Him is a story about second chances. A story of two couple who found their way back into each other, and proved that love was indeed stronger and sweeter the second time around. It was short, sweet, and HOT. Definitely HOT.

First I want to say that this novella kicked some serious arse!
We get to meet Amy who has been married for 18 years to her husband Bryan. They are having some rocky times in there marriage and Amy is trying to get her husband to notice her and stop working so much. As Amy tries to get her husbands attention she starts to surf the web. That is where she enters a chat room and meets Cool_Hand_Luke. They hit it off right away and continue to talk. The more time they spend talking to one another the closer they get and Amy decides she is going to leave her husband. As her husband Bryan realizes that his wife is going to leave him he finally realizes that he loves her and wants to save the relationship but he thinks he might be to late.
Is Bryan to late to save his marriage to Amy? Will Amy leave her husband and start a fresh new relationship with Cool_Hand_Luke?
I have to say that being married for 15 years and being in a relationship with the same man for 22 years it is very difficult but if you love your spouse make it work because losing the one you have loved all that time will be very difficult. Relationships takes two people and when one is not in it then it is time to go so I could see where Amy was coming from. Want a fast easy crazy sweet read then read this book! You will fall in love with Cool_Hand_Luke!
I love so much this book.I didn’t know, when I first started what was about. And didn’t know if i like this book. But,OMG!It was awesome.
It was short, but it was perfect.Maybe if it was longer I wouldn't like it.This book present us a story about a marriage couple.Their love was so intense in the beginning, but over the years that love it is not there anymore. The only question:Are they gonna do something to bring that love once again alive?
You gonna adore this book. The things that they do,without knowing it it’s so funny but also full of passions. The only thing that I can say is that they are gonna fall in love once again.
I will like to see a movie about this book.I`m sure that everyone it`s gonna adore that.I`m so greatfull that i`ve read this book. Hope you enjoy it just as I did.
I was fortunate enough to have the pleasure of beta reading this novella and I can honestly say it's a wonderful story. Anne Conley has a unique gift of telling real, love stories and with real life struggles. Falling For Him is a wonderful example of this. We have two loveable yet flawed characters that are going through some hard times in their marriage. I cried when I read this story, not because it's depressing or anything, but because I felt extremely attached to the characters, especially Amy. I highly recommend this novella. Although it's a quick read, it has a great message within the story.
event though both were chatting w/"stranger" on chat room. and interested to their "chat partners" but the wife didnt come on strong w/flirting w/the so called cool_hand_luke. no. she was just having an emotionally conversation w/a perfect stranger about her life and then about her husband, who def is a jerk at home. sadly we didnt get any clue about what's in her husband's mind or thought. this should be on dual pov. im disappointed in her husband. IF the momy dearest wasnt his own wife, then all of his intension was a full blown affair. i mean do you read what he said to this "momy dearest"? he wants to fuck her and doin all of other stuff to her in perfect details! waaayy bfore he known the identity of this momy dearest. blaghh! and the wife even though she seems like always expecting cool hand luke to chat to her, she didnt/never saying those filthy words to him. she even refused him to meet w/her at the begining of the chapters. while HE.. keep on wanting to meet her. so dont disappoint w/the wife. his husband id a class A jerk, first!
Being a mother and housewife had been what Amy always wanted, but with two teenage kids and an absentee husband, the shine had come off. She hadn't envisioned being solely responsible for the family, nor had she thought she would have to make do without any sign of appreciation or acknowledgement. Whatever connection may once have existed between her and her husband, Brian, seems to have disappeared, no matter how hard she tries to find it back.
After quite accidentally striking up an online friendship with an anonymous man in a movie chat room, Amy finds herself opening up more and more to this stranger online. He seems to actually listen to what she says and initially tries to help her with her faltering marriage, by making some suggestions. When those fail to work, and Amy's desperation grows deeper, so does the connection with the stranger online. Before long, they are crossing a line that can not be uncrossed and Amy is left facing some difficult decisions.
With Christmas around the corner, she is surprised to find Brian suddenly paying more attention and making an effort. But is it too little, too late for Amy?
****
Very bitter-sweet, slightly disturbing but poignant story.
An all too recognizable situation of a marriage gone stale, where neither party truly puts out the effort towards the other anymore and both are left feeling unappreciated and undesired.
There is a lot of irony in this story, a lot of instances where the pot is calling the kettle, so to speak. It is one of the biggest problems. You get so focused on what the other person is lacking or doing wrong, you don't stop to look in the mirror anymore, to check if there is any culpability you might carry yourself.
Amy suffers a little bit from that. True, she has some valid complaints when it comes to Brian, but he well might have some too. Communication might have been a bit of help there. When Amy suspects her husband of cheating on her, she acts and reacts like the 'wounded' party, when she in fact has been cheating on him with her online stranger.
I don't want to hear about distinctions between physical and emotional cheating, or in the flesh or online cheating. There is no distinction, or there shouldn't be. The moment you give part of yourself to somebody OTHER than the person you have promised yourself true to, be it sex or emotional investment, you are cheating your rightful partner out of something that should be theirs and theirs alone. Period, end of!!
✨A very tightly written and provocative tale of boundaries.✨
Falling For Him by Anne Conley Review by Mary Beth <3 <3 <3<3 <3
Fate is a funny thing.
Have you ever been with someone you know is your other half but you lose your way? Well, that is what happens to Amy and Bryan. They have been married for 18 years and have two beautiful children, but they went off course somewhere. They both feel underappreciated and unloved and end up finding other finding someone else to fill that void.
This is a story of what happens when two people are together for a long time. They start to take each other for granted and don’t realize what they have and what they want are one in the same. The sad truth is that everyday couples throw a lifetime of memories and adventures away because they no longer feel validated and loved by the one they decided to share their life with.
From the first few words of this story I was hooked, I could not put this book down. While I knew from the beginning where this story was going, I wasn’t really sure how Ms. Conley was going to get us there. She made the journey from start to finish interesting engaging. The characters she has created with Amy and Bryan was so realistic and relatable that I could see myself as Amy. As a wife and mother of three myself I understand some of her frustrations and wants, but it also gave me the flip side of that coin with Bryan’s thinking. This story opened my eyes to the male perspective which as a female I don’t normally have. Going through the gambit of emotions of hurt and betrayal and love and satisfaction while reading this book was exhausting but so well worth it.
Falling for Him is a very quick and fascinating look into a long term marriage that has simply lost its glow. Amy and Brian have been married for 18 years and have two teenaged children. But Amy is looking for something more. She feels a sense of abandonment from her husband and one day meets a stranger online in a chat room. This stranger provides her with everything that her husband doesn’t. But the holidays are fast approaching and Amy must make a decision. Does she try to save her faltering marriage or does she go for something new and different? This is a particularly fascinating shorter read about temptation, love, lust, pain, and guilt. How long do you hold on to a marriage that is going nowhere before you realize that there is nothing left to save? Falling for Him is thought provoking and at times painful to read as we see Amy struggling with trying to make her choices. This is a novella so it can easily be read in one sitting. This book will pull you in and leave you feeling very emotional. The plot is well written and filled with interesting characters. Even though this was a shorter book, there is still a healthy amount of character development. I have never been married so this was a lesson in the complexities of matrimony for me. I thoroughly enjoyed this novella and would recommend it, especially if you like your reads filled with drama and angst. 4 out of 5 stars.
I felt for Amy, all she wanted was for her husband to still want her and be involved with the family like he used to be. She knows he is pulling away from her and has a feeling that there is someone else. When she starts talking to Cool_Hand_Luke their relationship is just a friendship with a little light flirting. She can open up to him about the problems in her marriage and he has done the same to her. He reminds her of how her husband used to be when they first began dating in high school. Her husband has to be having an affair, he isn’t the same anymore. Is it too late for her marriage when her husband opens his eyes and sees that things are almost over between them? Will she succumb to the connection she shares with Cool_Hand_Luke, or will she be able to save her marriage afterall?
I really liked Falling For Him. It was a quick read that shows what can happen when your marriage begins to drift apart and sometimes all it takes talking to a stranger that makes you see what you are missing. You never know who is on the opposite end of the keyboard either. A few times while reading I was like I knew that was going to happen, so it was a tad predictable but honestly it didn’t take away from the story at all. I will read more from this author in the future for sure.
I was given a copy of this novella in exchange for an honest review by Rose's Book Snobs.
I loved the premise of this story and what it represented. As someone that has approached the 20 year mark of marriage I can appreciate the characters issues withing the story. I loved that the author drew me in right from the beginning and how real the characters emotions felt. I really related to Amy the wife and gained an understanding in the end of Bryan the husband. Marriage is a give and take and both characters had seemed to have lost sight of that through the story. Marriage is what 2 people make it, and online relationship she developed with Cool_Hand_Luke was one that helped her to learn what she needed and wanted in her marriage.
5 Stars and one that should be read by anyone that has lasted in a long standing marriage or relationship as it will make you think twice about keeping the lines of communication open.

I'm conflicted. I do NOT like cheating in my romance stories. It's a definite hard line for me. The story was real and to the point, but I just couldn't engage. I was feeling not nice things towards the H/h.
Two married people meet in an online movie chat room. The initial interaction turns into a friendship that leaves both wanting more. They are unfulfilled in their marriages, wanting to be appreciated by their respective spouses. The "twist" is obvious (though I would say it is intentionally obvious to the reader). Again, I couldn't connect to these characters because I really didn't like what they were doing. That said, online relationships occur all the time. The story was real and genuine; I just couldn't get past the cheating aspect. I will definitely read another by this author - as long as there isn't infidelity. It's a trigger for me, so I automatically pull back from the story.
Despite a slow and draggy beginning, this turned out to be a sweet, sweet story. Even though, I realized what was coming about half way through the book, Ms. Conley still managed to suck me into the the heroine's emotional turmoil and growing intimacy between the characters...enough that yes, I shed a few tear and cheered at the happy ending.
A nice contemporary characters with mature characters. Personally for me, the fact this didn't involve playboy billionaires, naive and/or angst-filled twenty-somethings, foul-mouthed bikers, or dark and sexy rock stars was a big plus. I enjoyed reading a complex story about real people.
Thanks goes to Anne Conley for providing me a free copy of the story in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed the read.
What mother doesn't wish her husband was the same man she fell in love with 18 years ago. When Brian is always at work or in his man cave. Amy feels unwanted, unneeded or unloved. Then she meets cool_Hand_Luke in a movie chat. He makes her feel wanted and helps her with ideas to get her husband's eye back, the problem is she starts to feel that she is cheating on Brian is their marriage really over? One night she is faced with the fact she believes Brian has a new woman and isn't in love with her, she agrees to meet Cool_Hand_Luke is this really the end of her marriage or can Brian and her find their way back to each other? This is a must read along with all the other Stories of Serendipity!
This was a good, quick read that sucks you in and spits you out. A realistic portrayal of what can happen when you don't take care of your marriage. The twist wasn't much of a surprise to me but the way it was written made it still exciting. I had to know what would happen next so I couldn't stop reading. I read this in one sitting. I haven't read anything else from this author but I'm going to start the Serendipity series when time allows.

I Received An ARC Of This Book In Exchange For My Honest Review.
This is a short story at less than 50 pages. Imagine my surprise when I found this to be a great realistic read. The characters Amy and Bryan are married and experiencing real life marriage problems. I found myself being sympathetic to their issues and found myself secretly routing for them.
Anne Conley did a great job of portraying something that happens and exists in everyday life. I truly enjoyed this novella and would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a quick short read.
How freaking fun was that. I so thought Amy was talking to someone else which would have made for an awkward situation. She gave it her all until that devastating blow in the heart and gut. I am so happy it worked out for Amy in the end.
What a lovely story I've just read. It's a bitter sweet story about problems that can happen in a relationship. Sometimes we don't see what's happening under our nose. We need a little shove to see what we already got. Can't say much about this story without revealing the twist. I definetly recommend this as a nice easy going story about relationships. Received in return for an honest review.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book. Quick read and for me Anne Conley did a great job at sucking me into the story and not putting it down till I was done. This book is about Amy and Bryan who are married and they are loosing each other. Things have happened that rekindled their love for each other.
5 stars of a short perfect read. This story is a short story but an amazing truth behind it. Sometimes life doesn't always end up how it should. The characters are both amazing and are going through a time in life in there marriage were they need each other. Marriage isn't always a happily ever after and this book shows that!! Amazing... ~Raquel~
"Anne Conley's Falling For Him is a unique story of heartbreak and hope. That she has managed to write such a heart gripping story in only a few short pages speaks of the quality of writing she has produced." - Iva
This was a good quick read. I loved the twist of it but I must admit I did see it coming. I had a feeling for a while there that Cool_Hand_Luke was who he was. It was a little sad knowing that this story is actually not that far from the truth of most marriages. It's a pity there can't be a happy ever after for most married couples going through troubling times like this one.
This book gives what I feel is an accurate look at a couple who rushed into things, but truly love each other, an under-appreciated housewife and overworked husband who doesn’t MEAN to be so negligent.. he just forgot to be attentive over the years. And she wasnt perfect either, again, not her fault. She was just so tired and their rut evolved and went a little too far. Will they work it out? That’s for you to find out… What I liked about this is, I always unintentionally predict EVERYthing. I’m never surprised and rather bored as a result. This is no exception but with Conley, her characters are so likeable that I get too into their lives to worry about the outcome and am able to live in the moment. So I recommend this read. It’s only about an hour or two long, time-wise. A great distraction. 4 stars. Cover: Fun and matches the rest of the series. Professional. Editing/Proofing: Decent. Only a few, non-distract-y mistakes noted. Formatting: Beautiful!
FALLING FOR HIM is the fifth book in the Stories of Serendipity series. Each will stand on its own, but for maximum enjoyment read them all!
It’s not often that a book is all about a married couple. Nor do you often find a story about a woman who is slowly falling in love with another man and not hate her at the end.
I fell in love with Amy, Cool_Hand_Luke, and Brian. I ached for Amy and Brian as they faced the end of their marriage and the difficult decisions. “Too little, too late” is such a harsh statement to hear and to feel in your heart.
I could give you a hint why I didn’t hate her. Instead, I’m going to fix a Pina colada (that’s your hint) and encourage you to pick up a copy. I’m watching to see when the light bulb goes on and the smile starts on your face, too.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
Title: FALLING FOR HIM Series: Stories of Serendipity #5 Category /Genre: Contemporary Romance Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content Grammar/editing: B – a few small errors Received from: Lacie Redding (as a loaned copy)
Falling For Him was a super cute quick read that makes you open your eyes to make you look what is right in front of you. Like I have reiterated in the previous reviews about this Stand-alone series, I love ALL of the characters and uniqueness of the stories themselves.
Like a typical marriage, after so long of being together things get to be routine and the communication becomes very little. Amy has found someone to talk to online that makes her feel the warm fuzzy feelings that she wants to feel with her husband. Amy thinks about meeting him face to face and when she finally does, she is in for a surprise.
This book was funny and heartwarming in the end. It will make you fall in love again and realize that this is a normal thing and that you can renew your love and excitement in your marriage. This is a book that anyone will adore. It was another great read from Anne Conley. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series from the author.
