Very much aimed at the local, this is an interesting potted history of architecture in the Perth (Western Australia) greater metropolitan area. I'm tempted to go through and work out a tour (or two) based on it, and take the kids for a wander.
While it is overall interesting, the constant assumption in the introduction that the reader is familiar with the landmarks being discussed detracts from the overall enjoyment of the work. Recommended for locals with a casual love of architecture, but visitors and people looking for a more nuanced understanding of styles and influences on the local architecture should look elsewhere.
