There ia always a loss whatever times of trying not to lose anything ....
It 's really amazing this once , although death got to 2 souls that suddenly disappeared ..
" Run past me from out of nowhere ! I 'll be watching over you ... Tatsumi ... " ' I am sorry ... Even in the end , I only did things that would get me smacked ... ' ♥
Although it may be my last journey with this manga , but I awfully wish that I can complete its volumes ... :'(
This book starts with all the characters trying to get over the death of Sheele. She was killed very gruesomely at the end of volume 2. I won't tell you the details, but it was gruesome. The Capital starts murdering high political leaders who are against the Capital, and blames Night Raid for the murders. After, half of Night Raid is deployed to protect two different political figures who may be targeted next. Tatsumi's and Bulat's official gets targeted, and it becomes a fight to the death.
As with the other books in the series, the artwork is traditional manga style. It is black and white, with panels and some dialogue. The pictures help tell the story.
Tatsumi's relationship with Bulat really develops in this book. They really connect as individuals working together. They become good friends and allies. The author spends time developing this relationship in this volume, because one of them dies. It makes the reader even more sad.
If you have read the first two, you HAVE to read this volume. You can't stop reading a series in the middle. Anyone who has read the first two should be hooked by now!
This is definitely a feminist shounen manga; I'm very impressed. The story continues heating up, all though it could use a little more internal complexity. However, the setup holds promise for internal politics and betrayal as we edge toward war.
It's also queer-friendly, although I'm a little uncertain about some of the aspects of that. After establishing the gay character, and making fun of gay stereotypes by making him act that way IN ORDER to disguise himself, I was really impressed. But in this volume...
Ok, here what's happening. Tatsumi is the newbie of the story, but he has already lost four great friends in a really short time and remains full of joy and optimism about the future, which is kind of sweet and annoying at the same time because life in the capital is still trashy, so, in order to overthrow the system and build a better one, it's been established there are many other incredible enemies to defeat, which also means there are more friends to say goodbye, and I can only be ready to be broken once and again.
Man, another heart breaking loss and some damn good battles. I see why my friend group regards this one so highly and I’m starting to absolutely love it. It’s fun too that’ it’s labeled horror. It feels kinda like demon slayer in a way which is pretty fun too. I’m curious with how Akame will grow and react to the ending of this volume in the next, so count me in for more!
Enter General Esdeath, the bloodthirsty badass of the empire. Here we get some character bonding as a result of the previous tragedy, and a "levelling-up" of the antagonists that the Night Raid go against, and the cost that comes with it.
Yes, you could totally see that coming, especially since they announced it at the very beginning of the battle. Yes, it still hurt me deep inside.
Am I the only one who is really annoyed by Tatsumi’s apparently great physical strength? He can fight against Teigu users without having a Teigu himself and he still leaves the battlefield perfectly unwounded. Oh, and here’s that: he is only a young boy fighting against three experienced soldiers. I get the whole ‘he is the main character so he is obviously not dying nor getting severely injured’ thing, but still!
The whole battle was absolutely breathtaking, not to mention Braht’s fight in the final part and his dialogue with the man who seems to be his old master. I particularly enjoyed Tatsumi getting his Teigu and the concept of Braht’s eyes closing a bit more in each pannel.
Now coming back to the start of the volume, I would like to highlight that some of the scenes where Esdese gives some tips on how to torture prisoners in a more painful way were quite impressive. I also particularly enjoyed the very first panels since we got to see Akame allowing herself to be emotional -it was about time to break that ‘distant, cold character’ stereotype.
Finally, I need to stress how glorious that ending was -as epic as the one in volume 2, probably even more. I found myself craving for more!
…………………………………………………………………………………………..

Je continue, me voilà addict.
With the return of Esdeath life can only become more difficult for Night Raid after losing one ally in the last volume and now assassinations of good people are being carried out in Night Raid's name. Now the group must split up to protect any more opponents to the Prime Minister from being murdered by whoever dared to do them.
I will be honest with you that this is not a happy series with entitled people torturing, murdering, and doing whatever they like to those less fortunate then themselves and even with skilled assassins Night Raid are effectively human so casualties occur when an evil empire would turn against them. Of course eventually the heroes will probably win but if hero deaths are a deciding factor in your reading list then please keep that in mind.
My favorite part would have to be the surprise that Esdeath wants to find love and the awkward exchange from the Prime Minister and Emperor had me chuckling. :)
I still enjoy this series but I feel like the same themes are on rinse and repeat. Yes, I know they're assassins so they're always flirting with death but I don't feel much is being done to get me more invested into night raid.
Yes, we get small backstories and explanations of the teigu here and there but I'd love to see some better character development. After three volumes I find myself liking Tatsumi less and less. Not that he is a bad character I just find him boring. He behaves the same all the time.
I like the longtime members of night raid more than him. However, the main themes continues to be here is a mission, strong enemy, fight ensues, one of the main character dies....repeat. Debating jumping off here and picking up a new series unless someone can convince me it gets better.
The thing I have the hardest time with in shonen is interpreting fight scenes. I don't feel like I've gotten any better at it in the few years I've been more actively reading manga, either. But I did enjoy the battle on the ship with the three bad guys and Big Bro and the kid (I'm terrible at remembering names). The plot device that one teigu (sp?) wielder has to die in a battle really puts the pressure on, doesn't it?
Well-written with added depth--in my opinion--over the previous volumes. Not as much sheer madness and purely insane characters. The villains motive is basic, but all the more human real for all that: Power. Personal power. The character bits both flashback and mid-fight with Butal, Tatsumi, Akame, etc. were all well-handled here, and it's that as much if not more than the battles that make the volume for me.
General series thoughts: Mixed bag to the max. I find the overall conflict, including some of the harsh realities of the battles, extremely compelling. But I do feel the series goes too far in the graphic nature of some things that boil down to being there simply to show someone's a bad guy. The art is striking in parts and hard to follow in others. Attached to the characters and completely hooked into reading to see where it all goes, but on the other hand it is a rough read.
With Schere's death, Night Raid mourns her quietly and by remembering the little things. In doing so, Tatsumi vows to never die to Akame so she may never feel such pain again. Esdese, the capitol's strongest, returns after a genocidal conquest of the Northern Tribes with a plan to destroy the Night Raid by framing the assassins for multiple political murders.
Another fun issue that finds Tatsumi taking on the Three Beasts after the tragic loss of Sheele. Takahiro keeps the action coming while also hinting at a darker future, as Sheele looks not be the only death in this series. His art is equally excellent and not quite as cartoony as the series gets more serious. One of the better and more violent of the mangas on the stands right now.

Again, action packed not a moment of dullness. The humor is gone at this point, and we are learning more about everyone's back story. I think Kurome is going to be terrifying. Akame is, but she's also able to turn it off. We shall see!
