Lady Babs had already done one unforgivable thing: she had written a novel. It was under a pseudonym, of course, but the story she’d thought would sell only a few copies to help stave off her father’s creditors was becoming a sensation. Passion’s Seed had the beau monde in a panic, because it was all about ‘them’! If it were ever revealed that she, one of the aristocracy’s own, was the author, she would be ruined.
Now she was contemplating doing something equally scandalous. The ‘rules’ dictated that, as a woman, she had to wait until marriage to enjoy pleasures men were allowed when single. Lady Babs, however, had other ideas, for she had fallen in love with the man known as Lord Wildfire, a dashing duke with a penchant for the ladies but not for marriage.
But while she yearned for Lord Wildfire, another man lusted after her. And Sir Edward was willing to go to any lengths to make her his—including following his hunch that Lady Babs was somehow involved in the publication of Passion’s Seed …
One thing that I love about Claudy Conn is that her heroines are always strong independent women who refused to a doormat. The women that the author write about are not silly little girls with no sense of self and lacking a backbone. Claudy Conn's heroines are what we modern women are and what we want our daughters to be.
This story was fun, flirty and full of adventure and intrigue. It kept me flipping the pages to see what would happen next. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments as well that keep the story light and engaging.
Overall Babs and Nick 's story is awesome and makes you want another story with just them!
This is another of Claudy Conn's Historical Romances (which I had stopped reading until I started reading Claudy's HR books), with her amazing writing style, grabs you in from the first page until the last. In fact, you'll hate for the story to end!
This story is about Lady Barbara (Babs to family and friends) Waverly who happens to be a curious, intriguing minx. Her worst offense now is that wrote wrote a book "Passion's Seed" which happens to be about the haute ton. Everyone is raving about it and wonders who wrote it. She wants to use the money to help her father to pay off some gambling debts which he has accrued since the death of his wife. Babs is going on to her third season in London and her Aunt Jane and cousin Corrine are asked to come to help curb Babs.
Then we have our hero, Nicholas (Nick), the 9th Duke of Barrington also known as Lord Wildfire for his actions on the battlefield and because of his ladies! He claims he doesn't want to get married. However, he meets Babs and would love to have her but his conscience knows he can't do anything to an innocent (although Babs doesn't think that way) so he just dallies with her. So the chase is on and can you imagine who is going to win? Then we have our villian, Sir Edward Denton, who is a very rich man of the ton. He decides he wants to marry Babs even though she doesn't want to marry him. He'll do anything to get her and he hatches a plan to do so. You'll have to read the book to find out what the outcome is! We have so many interesting characters in this story and I just adored Count Otto, who is Babs stalwart friend and protector.
This story has has lucious love scenes, intrigue, kidnapping and loads of fun. You'll so love this book just as I did. For 18yrs and over.
First off I have to say that I LOVED the Author's note! It was really great!
Another fantastic love tale by Claudy Conn. I enjoyed this regency romance. This book was filled with details and events that often go on in society during those times. They are intriguing and I love how Claudy writes about them. She adds the special twist to them making it so much better.
Her characters are always realistic and they always standout. The secondary characters always shine as well.
In this book there was a lot going on but I found it very easy to follow along. A lot of relationships and events happening but it all flowed perfectly together easily capturing your attention to the very end.
I loved Babs character. She shined brightly through the whole book. She was sassy and her antics were too funny. Nick was just the man she needed.
This book was filled with mystery, suspense, action, emotion and oh so much passion. Everything you could possibly want. A must read!

REVIEW
Another hit by Claudy Conn In this one we have Babs aka Lady Barbara who writes a spicy novel in order to help save her family’s home. Well her daddy is not very happy with her. Well Sir Edward Danton wants Lady Barbara but Lady Barbara has another in her sights. Lord Wildfire who is busy trying NOT to accept his title. Nick’s cousin Charles tries to steer him away from Babs but will that happen ? This book like all the regencys by Claudy is so funny and witty .
I highly suggest you pickup a copy and get reading !! Hilarious , Romantic and just a great read
Almost a parody of the romance genre, this little novel flies by with static characters and plot points that seem to appear out of nowhere. The characters' intuition allows leaps to be made that otherwise would have taken time and effort to accomplish. Overall, this was a disappointing little diversion.
After enjoying Lady Bess I was seriously underwhelmed by Wildfire Kisses. The characters and plot were all poorly developed and the book was way too short to contain 2 romances.
It was a very simple Lark. The dialogue is so quick and plot so snappy it feels like you are in "to kiss me Kate" or some such. As for a romance novel, the sex scene was downright disappointing when this is the one thing they usually get right (it's not like we rely on romance for incredibly new and clever plotlines, do we?). However the heroine was fun to be around and it is also quite rare to have someone so funny in these stories. Also this lost an entire point for ending the book at 81%. Who does that?! Also I found this on an erotic historical romance list. This is fun, but hella Not erotic.

I have read the Regency romance books written by Claudette Williams. "Lord Wildfire" Regency romance story seemed to me, upon reading, the author having several storyline ideas, each different in its own way, & the main storyline seemed to get lost quickly. I imagined I was standing in the middle of a round about, attempting to read, while various different, unrelated story snippets flew by me. The story & characters seemed to me, disconnected, disjointed, attempts to merge, then happy ending not feeling satisfied.
"What I need is a man who will smile at my antics...perhaps curb me a bit... but never tame me" - this is a favorite passage from Wildfire Kiss spoken by Lady Barbara Waverly ("Babs")to the Duke of Barrington (Nick) as advised by her friend Count Otto Stauffenberg. Lady Babs is like a breath of fresh air-an entertaining and likeable character. At 21, she refuses to marry for convenience and despite an array of wealthy suitors she refuses to enter a loveless marriage and refuses to follow behavior for women set through the dictates of men. Thus she goes about acting on her own accord and having fun with her friend Otto. When Babs meets the Duke of Barrington, she thinks he is the most handsome man she has ever seen. She recognizes that she is his match. The Duke on the other hand does not see himself matched with anyone. And though he flirts with Babs, he tries to maintain a safe emotional distance from Babs but the distance was not far enough and the flirtatious Babs got him just where she wanted him. Lady Babs innocently demonstrates the act of "taking the bull by the horn" and living in the moment. This is a well written story without the fluff. It is fast moving, entertaining and reminds us not to take life too serious. I like the light heartedness of all the characters and How often does a "knight in shining armor" appear when he's needed. For Lady Babs, he was right on time.
Wildfire Kiss by Claudy Conn Lady Barbara ‘Babs’ Waverly is on her third season. She stays close to her good friend Count Otto Stauffenberg. For you see it’s not that Babs is lacking for male attention….it’s that she wants a marriage that is a love match. And her dear friend Otto just wants to be left alone. So together they keep the wolves at bay….well some of the wolves. It seems that Babs latest discretion has her father calling in the big gun, Aunt Jane.
This book had so many great characters that come to life and you find yourself hoping they all find happiness but alas there were too many men and only two women. There is Sir Edward ‘Ned’ Danton who is nice looking and wealthy. Sir Charles is also handsome and quite a jovial chap. The Duke of Barrington, who is Charles cousin and friend, is definitely not lacking for female attention but now that he’s a Duke he may have to think about an heir but he’s not ready for the marriage mart yet. There are so many things going on but the book is not too busy. There are secrets and blackmail, love, laughter, adventure and even Lord Byron. **Sexual situations and language http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...
I adored the Duke or aka Lord Wildfire. His name “Wildfire” has a meaning, but you will have to read to find out why he is called that. =) He had certain qualities that suckered me in just like Lady Babs was suckered in. Lady Babs is a female character I clicked with because she did not let anyone change her when she went out during the season. She had her Aunt trying to convince her she needed to be with a particular male gentleman, but Lady Babs just wanted to do her own thing. Lady Babs even convinced her cousin on finding love when she was meant to in her life. This is a book I do plan on rereading it because I know I will miss the characters. I highly recommend this to historical romance readers and readers who love the Regency style romances. You will fall in love with the Duke and Lady Babs just like I did. You also will fall in love with Claudy Conn’s writing style and will want to read the other books that she has written.
from the beginning he held my heart. So much love from this story. From broken hearts to completed marigaes, leaving me in aww. Before I get into the review. The cover! Take a couple moments to look. Yum right? lady Bab's is our main focus and of course i won't forget the dear side characters. and Corry, both have personalities strong enough to dominate the book. By the end I loved them. Wildfire is our very Delicious man. Although people cal him names for various reasons he lives up to them in some ways, but not in others. A loving man in a need of a certain women. From the start both Wildfire and Bab's have a growing relationship that spread like a wildfire. Haha get it. ;) Sir Edward would be considered the bad guy in this novel, but once again Claudy Conn writes a villain to fall in love with. A charming love story, so make sure to pick it up and read it.
I don't like romance novels, so I don't know why I really picked this one up. I snagged it through Bookbub for free.
Bab's is a spitfire that is not willing to conform to what society at the time expects for a woman. She's an independent woman. Has already penned a scandalous story of high society. Flirts uncontrollably.speaks her mind.
Lord wildfire sweeps in and stirs emotions she only can dream of. But it's Sir Edward that messes up everything.
I did enjoy Bab's. I also loved Lord Wildfire. What I didn't care for was how the story didn't evolve more into the characters. I really would had liked to learn more of each. Otto would be one that could had been developed more.
I also am not one that cares for the gushy romance. Yes, some was exciting. But I knew who would win the girl by the time Lord Wildfireentered the story.

Wildfire Kiss, a wonderfull Historical Romance, complete with blackmail and secrets. The Lady Babs a high spirited beauty, she didn't lack for suitors. However she was looking for 'The One', she had made up her mind she would only marry for love, rather than making a good match of convenience. Babs thought she had found her man when she met the very charming Duke of Barrington, also known as Wildfire, partly due to his reputation amongst the ladies. He constantly confused her sending her very mixed signals as she delighted and surprised him often with her antics. I can't forget Sir Edward who was completely obsessed with the Lady Babs determined to make her his at all cost, I almost felt sorry for the poor man....almost !
I really enjoy historical romance, but unfortunately this one was just an "ok" read for me. I enjoyed Babs, Nick, Corry and Freddy. Their relationships were sweet and entertaining. I found myself loving Nick and Babs and wanted so much more of them. Babs has a wonderful spirit and was fun to get to know. Nick, of course handsome, rich and a blue-eyed rake, was also enjoyable. Sir Edward just irritated me from the beginning! Don't get me wrong there was romance, scandal and intrigue, but the story was choppy in parts and rushed in others. It is a quick read once you get into it, but before you know it the ending is upon you and you are feeling like you missed something.
This read is full of climaxes and plateaus. Something exciting will happen to make you continue the read, but then some dull conversation comes into play and we must wait some before the action continues. Also this read takes on multiple points of view and frankly, I didn't care to know what some characters were saying and thinking. Yes it added to the story and made them more rounded characters, but the story would have been just as well if they had remained flat characters. It was good but contained nothing to set it apart from other reads.
I read this within the Regency box set and thoroughly enjoyed this part of the set because this the only one I had not read. I always love when young women are never going to do something and "bam" something or someone changes the mind. Usually a fine man, lol. I liked this headstrong woman even as she fought her attraction. Claudy Conn does good regency romances with just enough heat to make it interesting. Enjoy, I did.
This is one of the better Claudy Conn books I've read. It broke from the mold a little, which was nice. I found the relationship between the H and h more believable than most of her work. She is a big proponent of insta-love, unlike me. But this one worked a little better for me. I liked the storyline, except for a great coincidence at the end that allowed that H to win the day. (No spoilers!) It could have been written around. But that's a bit of a nitpick.
This was a quick, fun read! I got this for free as an e-book and was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did. The characters weren't hugely developed by any means, but I quickly grew to love Babs (although I don't think I'll ever love that name for a character...) and her relationship with the duke. It was short and sweet and I felt content even without a whole lot of backstory.
I absolutely LOVED this book. From start to finish I was hooked, and couldn't put it down. I loved the story that unfolded and fell in love with the characters. Babs was by far my favorite and was a wonderful heroine.
Claudy knocked it out of the park with this one, as she always does. I definitely recommend this book and I know you won't be disappointed. :)
Lady Babs & Nick the Duke + Corry & Sir Frederick = 2 love stories in one book only one sex scene (Babs & Nick). Otto the count friend of Bab, Charles cousin and friend of the Duke gang up to help Babs out of Edward's (blackmailing her) reach. As usual CC delivers though I do like her Faes books a lot more.
