Heed Your Call: Integrating Myth, Science, Spirituality, and Business

Rate this book
Through his own story and those of other modern-day entrepreneurial heroes, David M. Howitt shares the principles behind his and others’ success in eleven real-world lessons.

Heed Your Call is about embracing the power of and. It is for the person who has come to a place in life where toiling away at work in pursuit of the American dream just isn’t worth the punishment anymore. It is for the professional who wants to feel more connected and fulfilled, the spiritual seeker who believes gaining wealth diminishes the sacred, the innovator being stifled creatively, and the people who want to become the heroes of their own stories.

This book is about following your path, creating a life of abundance and joy, and doing your part to repair the world.

Through telling his own story, along with those of other modern-day entrepreneurial heroes, David M. Howitt shares the principles behind his and others’ successes in eleven real-world lessons on how we can apply simple principles that help us weave business into our spiritual narratives and pour our souls into our professions. By uniting artistry and analytics and integrating intuition with intellect, we positively affect the way we live and the world around us. Through the activation of creative principles, living authentically, and absorbing new experiences, we evolve from the radical integration of so-called disparate worlds. We birth a new reality and build a road map for our future.

In the uncountable library of inspirational books I've read, Heed Your Call is nestled with four others I can honestly say have most influenced my life for the better, (The Alchemist, Siddhartha, The E-Myth, and Power of Habit.) David's ability to reframe timeless truths we have each "forgotten" and make them relevant to our current experience is unmatched. He has a gift for articulating the actions and tools we should be adopting in order to live joyful, prosperous, and meaningful lives. By adhered to his guidance we can avoid arriving at the end of our days having never answered the calls from our souls to be more, give more, love more, inspire more and enjoy all of life's possibilities, including that of making money while staying happy and sane.

I am an entrepreneur, author, friend, executive, wellness advisor, daughter, yogi, student and teacher and this book, each and every page was written just for me. You'll discover, each page is written for you. The stories are raw, humorous, and real. David cuts through the noise of our internal narratives that tell us we're not good enough, that tell us we can't have it all, that lead us to believe we have to choose between being profitable or poets, artistic or analytical, have a spiritual practice or be an abundant entrepreneur. Or is a lie. David believes it and I believe it because it's the truth. He uses the phrase, The Power of And liberally in his book. It is one of the eleven principles he outlines so simply with real life stories. There is power in ANDS and tyranny in OR. When we learn this, and apply this truth as well as all others he shares, we will be comforted, we will step onto our own heroic path, we will inspire those around us, and we will feel in flow with our most magnificent personal journey.

Mindfulness, intent and trust. Only a few of the topics David M. Howitt addresses in his book and shared with us when he recently visited our tv show, Books du Jour, in NYC. Watch him here: https://youtu.be/ZPgB86EF4ww

I liked David Howitt's perspective on the power of "and" vs the tyranny of "or" as well as his willingness to blend some thoughts of spirituality (or the search for meaning) with the pursuit of business.

Inspiring, thought provoking. And he keeps the self congratulation and humble bragging to a bare minimum, which is rare with this sort of book.
