Savannah and Aunt Margaret open the old Forster home to the Hammond Cat Alliance for a fundraiser to help rehabilitate the abused horses rescued months earlier from the catnappers. Before the afternoon is over, the collected funds go missing and someone is murdered in an upstairs bedroom.
Suspicion surrounds Iris, a local waitress and Savannah’s new best friend. The only witness to the murder is Rags, Savannah’s cat. With the assistance of a cat psychic and Rags’s good friend, Charlotte (the young girl with Downs), the cat helps to “paw” the killer…but not before an attempt is made on Rags’s life. The case is solved only after Rags comes face-to-face with the killer for the second time.
Detective Craig Sledge is new to this book, as is Damon, Iris’s errant son. Sledge finds this to be one of the muddiest cases he has ever worked, with inconsistent clues and no apparent motive. He’s constantly surprised, perplexed and impressed by the cat’s uncanny ability to come up with clues he has missed. His fascination with the attractive Iris Clampton also mystifies the detective.
In this story, one of the rescued horses goes into labor and there’s a night of high drama at the ole corral as veterinarians Savannah and Michael work to save the foal. This experience renews Savannah’s deep interest in horses and riding, which ultimately serves to help her bond with a very important surprise character who finds his way into her life and Michael’s just as they prepare to say their wedding vows.

While Rags is the animal star, he isn’t the only animal featured in this story. Layla is back in all of her tangerine beauty. And Rags makes friends with Buffy, a perky almost Himalayan and the inseparable duo, Walter, an all black cat and his sidekick, Lexie, a charming afghan mix. Savannah’s new ride, Peaches, also debuts in this story. An incident with this mare adds another dimension to Savannah’s and Michael’s relationship. Can he hold her with open arms?

Some say this is a love story with a mystery in the background. And it’s a story of family and friendship as newlyweds Margaret and Max continue to be a meaningful part of Savannah’s and Michael’s world.

I have not wrote the review for this first book in the series yet. However I feel compelled to write a review for this book.

I could not believe the following:

“Yes, the wound looks a little nasty. Darn pit bull.” Bud looked over at Savannah. “When will dog owners start taking these dogs seriously and manage them more sensibly?” He gritted his teeth in anger. “They should be nowhere near other dogs without being restrained.”

“I hear ya.” Savannah dabbed at the stitches with alcohol and then applied a healing salve. “If only they saw what we see here every week, they might understand that at least some of those dogs can’t be trusted.” She stood and asked, “Will you redress this and give Tasha another round of antibiotics? Her fever’s down, but the fact that she has one is worrisome.”

Fry, Patricia. Cat-Eye Witness (A Klepto Cat Mystery Book 2) (Kindle Locations 2394-2398). Matilija Press. Kindle Edition.

Really?!? For the author to write a book about veterinarian and have a vet and vet tech say something like that. I have a pit bull. She is a wonderful companion. She lives in the house with a 10 year old basset hound, 7 year old lab mix, 2 short hair tabby cats and 8, yes 8, bunnies. She has not attempted to harm anyone. She is friendly and loving to each animal in my house. Granted she does not like people but she was abused.

I am shocked and disappointed with this series and the author. No matter what a miniature poodle can be aggressive and trained to attack. The stereotyping of breeds is just something created via news media. It is no different than saying a yellow cat are bad and will attack other cats. Yes I know pit bulls have attacked humans even children. However they are only doing what their owner trained them to do. Why is it the dog gets the blame and not the owner.

Yes I am on my high horse but really. A true animal lover loves ALL animals not just certain ones. I am not a cat person but I still have cats. I am not a horse person but I have a friend who has horses and we go riding frequently.

I recommend this book only to people who actually believe pit bulls are worthless animals and need to be removed from earth. To all others stay clear this book is not worth reading.

As soon as I finished the first book, Catnapped, in Patricia Fry's Klepto Cat Mystery series, I had to immediately start reading Cat-Eye Witness. I wasn't ready to leave Savannah, Michael and all the other friends I had made in the first book. In Catnapped you are introduced to everyone in town and you are just getting to know them and getting use to "being in a new environment" but once you start reading Cay-Eye Witness you are in love with everyone and beginning to feel like you belong there.

The characters that Fry writes about are people you will like, love and admire. Most of them are friends, have things in common and will do whatever they can to help each other out. And boy do some of them need extra help in Cat-Eye Witness !!!

Savannah has moved into her auntie's house and is working with Michael at his clinic after her aunt and Max got married at the end of the first book. They are having a fundraiser at the house to raise money to help horses in need when the money raised is stolen and a man is found dead in an upstairs bedroom. And if things couldn't get any worse, Savannah's new best friend Iris is looking like a top suspect, right up at the top of the list with her eldest son. And yup...worse yet is that Rags, the kleptomaniac cat, is acting very strangely. It is possible that Rags was witness to the murder and may even be able to identify the killer !!!

OMG I love these books !!! The imagination and creative way Fry writes and keeps the reader interesting is such an amazing talent !! I would have never imagined that a cat could identify a killer or help solve a crime but after reading these books, I think why not ? Anything is possible.....

The Klepto Cat Mystery series is off the charts FUN to read !! I am beginning to see why there are so many written in this series. And the way that Fry ends each book, there is NO doubt that I will continue reading these books. I cannot wait for more......

Another enjoyable mystery with further character development in the people from the first book and some interesting new additions. Lots of wonderful animals. Particularly like it that Charlotte is treated with dignity and respect, giving her a developed character.

Looking forward to reading more in this series

Nice Mystery

Good mystery, complicated plot, with good characterization (esp the cat!) Definitely worth picking up.
Only problem was that, because of void of info re: victim, "solving" the mystery wasn't possible.
However, since this was the only drawback and the writer excelled in every other aspect, I recommend this book.

3.5 stars. Very good second book! I liked it much more than the first one. The story was engaging and entertaining and the characters are really getting fleshed out. Personally I'm a dog person but the cats in these books are as cute as can be. Very cozy mystery and my mom will be reading this one after me!

This is second time I'm reading this. Wanted go back to the beginning and see how Rags becomes part of the Ivey family. Yes I found out things I missed or forgotten. Can't wait to reread the entire Rags series.

My Review:

I read the reviews before I read a book, if there are any. I was not sure what to expect from the ones listed for the second book in the Klepto Cat series. I only want to take a moment and say the following to those who keep degrading this series. I am not expecting John Grisham or James Patterson. I prefer Cozy Mysteries such as those in this series for the reason that they are light reads centering around animals and their human care givers. If you find these reads too simple for adults then go and look for something with a little more depth, such as Ops Center, Brother Odd or Women's Murder Club. I personally prefer to keep away from the graphic descriptions of violence. A cozy was once described as a story where someone dies, but no one gets hurt. Here we also have the joy of humor, the antics of adorable animals and a chance to nab the bad guy and show good triumphs of the evil villain once more, but again that is the opinion of one very young adult mind (only 56 years old with 2 degrees and a masters). With individual taste it is not surprising some will like this series while others can not seem to click. That is why there are so many different styles of writing and sub genres. I happen to enjoy The Women's Murder club and have read each and every one.

Now let me tell you about Rags, Savannah, Mike, Max, Margaret, and the rest of the gang, both of the two and four legged variety. Patricia Fry pulls you in and you can not help but pull for the underdog, er horse. When the funds raised for the treatment and feeding of the abused horses from book one. I once again I fell in love with Rags (Klepto Cat) and had to laugh at his little problem with having sticky fingers, paws. Just remember I have first dibs on Rags and and Layla if they decide to relocated to the south east. They would fit right in with my Pandora, Marmalade, Gracie and Skeeter. They have their human's wrapped around their little paws and I would not have it any other way.

If you enjoy animals in you mysteries, want to laugh as you read instead of crying, then check out Klepto Cat Mysteries. It delivers in spades.

During a fundraiser in their home, veterinarian Savannah Jordan and her aunt Margaret are shocked when the money they collected to help abused horses has been stolen. They are even more stunned when they discover a dead body in one of the bedrooms. Their shock grows even more when their good friend Iris is accused of the crimes.

Savannah is heartbroken as the evidence builds against Iris, and possibly her troubled teenage son Damon. She is determined to prove her friend’s innocence. When she realizes that her cat Rags has been spooked and fearful since the murder, she realizes he might very well be a witness to the murder. Not sure what to do, she agrees to have a pet psychic visit with Rags. The psychic quickly learns that Rags was kicked by the killer. There’s no evidence that will stand up in court but it gives Savannah even more of a reason to want the killer behind bars.

This book picks up right where the first book, Catnapped, left off. Aunt Margaret is now married to Max, who runs the local cat rescue. Savannah is in the middle of planning her wedding to the local vet, while working for his practice. We are introduced to a new detective and we become more involved with the town. I adore these characters, especially Savannah, Michael, Margaret and Max. They come to life on these pages.

The plot has many twists and turns, many good guys and bad guys. There’s no gore or sex, just a very sweet cozy mystery with quite a bit of romance thrown in. I enjoyed this book even more than the first one. The author’s blend of mystery and romance is perfect. I’m so looking forward to the third book in the series and catching up with these characters. They are old friends now.

Cat-Eye Witness Patricia Fry
Savannah Jordan opens her beautiful home and gardens to the Hammond Cat Alliance, who is hosting a charity event, to benefit neglected and abused horses. Money that has been raised has mysteriously disappeared. Who and why would anyone steal money that has been earmarked for the horses? How did they gain entrance to the bedroom where the money was placed? Who knew where the money was, except Savannah's friend Iris? Did Iris fake the burglary, or was it one of the many other guests who was in attendance? Who might have witnessed the theft?
Rags, Savannah's cat, seems to be the only one that was around at the time. Too bad cats can't speak, he would have made and excellent witness. Not only did Rags possibly see the theft , but did he also witness the murder that takes place? Who was the man that was murdered? How did he gain entrance to the bedroom that used to belong to Savannah's aunt? How was he murdered? Why was he murdered? What else might happen to ruin this fund raiser?
Savannah and her fiance Michael, along with Iris, set out to "help" the police solve the case, even though they were told not to. Soon they discover that key items are missing from the scene of the murder, who and how did this happen? What part did Rags play in this? Why were the police so interested in Iris's oldest son? So many questions, and not many answers.
I was happy to have been given this book to review. I had not read the 1st book, but was glad that this series didn't have to be read in order. Cozy mystery lovers should enjoy this book , as well as book 1, Catnapped and the latest book 3, Sleight of Paw. Cat lovers, horse lovers, and animal lovers will enjoy this tale.

This is the second book in the Catnapped Mysteries. Just want to warn you as it may contain spoilers.

Savannah never left Hammond. She helped in the rescue of the missing cats, along with some abused horses from the catnappers, and fell hard for Michael, the local vet and now her fiance, helping him in his practice.

When Savannah and her Aunt Margaret host a fundraiser for the recovered cats and horses at their home, the money goes missing and someone is killed. Klepto cat, Rags, witnesses the theft and murder, but he ain’t talking, and Savannah’s best friend Iris comes under suspicion.

As the mystery unravels, you’ll bump into some favorite characters, add new ones to your list, including one that has an impact on Michael and Savannah, and read about more new romances in the works.

I really enjoyed that Savannah and Michael shared a love of horses. I’ve always adored the handsome animals and used to rush home to go riding as often as I could. It was very emotional to read how the two vets struggled to nurture a pregnant mare. One of the rescued horses. They tried to build up her strength for the delivery to come, but it started earlier than they’d like and mare and foal were both in danger.

I mustn’t forget to mention the furry companions. The cast of cats continue to grow, in all shapes, sizes, and personalities, and Rags has a big role in the mystery. He has an uncanny knack for finding clues, that even Detective Sledge might have missed.

A perplexing cozy mystery. Multiple love stories. Loveable characters, human and furred. There’s so much fun in these pages and I’m happy to recommend this series!

Cat Eye Witness is the second book in the Klepto Cat Mystery series and with this one we get another page turning story that revolves around Savannah, Rags and the gang! Savannah and her aunt Maggie allow the Hammond Cat Alliance to hold a fundraiser in their home to benefit some rescued horses. Plenty of money is collected, thing is someone has stolen it, and what's worse in one of the bedrooms there is a dead body! Along with this excitement there is also a rescued horse that is expecting a foal, and when things don't go smoothly will Michael and Savannah be able to save the foals life? There is also the ongoing relationship between Savannah and Michael, will they make it down the aisle and finally be married? There is more excitement than you can shake a kitty paw at in this fast paced, who-dun-it romance!

The Klepto Cat Mystery Series is like a cozy mystery on steroids! You get more than just a mystery, you get romance, family life, friendships, and a down home feel that makes these characters so easy to connect with. I love stories that revolve around animals and this one has more than a few cats, each one interesting in their own right but Savannah's cat Rags of course is the star of the story! With plenty of twists and more than a few suspects, I actually read this book in one sitting! Cat fans are going to devour this one, but it's a good clean read that mystery fans are going to enjoy as well. I really think the author provides enough background information that this could be read as a stand alone work but I would highly recommend the first book in this series as well!

4 STARS

Cat-Eye Witness was enjoyable read. It is a clean cozy murder mystery. The suspense was good I was not sure who the guilty party was till it revealed for sure. I liked the characters. Rags is one of the major characters and has his own unique personality.

The Plot had some twists and turns I was not expecting. Savannah and Margaret were hosting a fundraiser for the different cat groups.
While everyone was in and out of the Forester home someone stole the money. As it was closing Margaret found a dead body up in her old room. The only witness was Rags.

The setting for the series is Northern California.

Savannah is now a working vet in Michael's practice. They are going to set a wedding date soon. A lot of the same characters as Catnapped and introducing more characters both human and animals.

I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Lots of drama, some action, lot of animals to fall for. Characters that you want to know more about and see again.
I was given this ebook to read for purpose of giving a honest review by the author.

I saw that one of my friends (Mary's Cup of Tea) had a review of this book up on her blog and it reminded me that I really did want to read this one. So I went in and purchased it with my own funds. This is the second, in the Klepto Cat Mystery series. The first, Catnapped, I also purchased on a whim and you can read my review of it here. Yes, there are times I just feel like reading a lighthearted mystery with a little murder a little romance and of course a smart animal or two.

This can definitely be a stand alone read but there are references back to the first in the series. The last book ended when the ladies "saved" the cats and horses. This book begins with a fund raiser where a murder takes place and the only eye witness is the cat! There are quite a bit of twists and turns and you really are not sure who the murderer is and was it the same person who stole the fund raising money?

This took me no time at all to read and would in my opinion be perfect to take to a beach, or to curl up with on a chilly night.

I love mysteries and stories with cats in them and I heard good things about the first book so when I had the chance to review this one, I said yes.

The blurb pretty much tells you the story although it does out leave out the killer's identity and a few other details. Much of the story was predictable, and the overall tone was entirely too cutesy and sweet for me. I am okay with cute and I'm okay with sweet, but this story tried too hard and crammed too much into one story. It meanders and the mystery is not the focus. We get various family dramas, romances, lots of animals, some woo-woo, and an overly complicated mystery. I enjoyed all the animal time, even when it didn't add to the story. The people were moderately appealing but I found that I mostly didn't care. The book didn't appeal to me but you may enjoy it.

Book Readers Review

Cat-Eye Witness is the second book in the Klepto Cat Mystery Series by Patricia Fry, the first is Catnapped. The novel opens with Savannah and her Aunt Margaret hosting a fundraiser to rehabilitate abused horses. As the afternoon progresses it is discovered the funds collected are missing. In the attempt to discover how the money disappeared a body is found in an upstairs bedroom. Savannah's best friend Iris, a local waitress, is identified as the main suspect. It looks like Rags, Savannah's cat, is a witness to the murder. Rags appears to be traumatized. But Rags is able to help identify the killer with the help of his good friend Charlotte (a young girl with Downs Syndrome) and a cat psychic. There are many twists and turns as the plot unfolds.

I thought this was a fun addition to this series. I liked that Savannah and her aunt opened up the home for a fundraiser to help abused animals. We are big animal rescuerers in my house so this really appealed to me. But it all goes wrong when a person is murdered and money is missing. The author makes this a fun mytery to solve since the only witness is Rags the cat. So we have to bring in Charlotte so she can communicate with hime to help find out who committed these crimes. We get a little scare in this one as someone tries to hurt Rags. Who would want to do that. I enjoy following along on Rags adventures and how we are kept guessing with the twists in this book. It makes the story fun to read. For me this was a quick enjoyable read. If you are a cat lover and a mystery fan you will enjoy this fun series.

The style of writing bugged me, but the basic story line was pretty good for the most part. Seems to be self published and I feel could have used an editor. I did enjoy the story once I got passed the writing style. I've read better, but I've also read worse.
