Collided started out pretty rushed and had me scratching my head at the breakneck speed everything was moving at! We have the classic and familiar Becca Steele style and I was vibing with it and giggling at the banter and antics between the mcs. It’s over the top and silly but also self aware of this and doesn’t take itself too seriously. I did at times think it was so cheesy it simply had to be making fun of the very common stepbrothers + enemies to lovers romance trope. Pardon me. As Cole would say, step-wanker. They beat each other up a lot in this one and they’ll be like my head went bouncing and it’s like the millionth time it’s happened!! Everyone quit it or invest in some helmets and padding! That’s another reason I thought a bit of fun was being poked at the trope because that happened so often.😂

How the fuck had we gone from hating each other to this so quickly?

^^^That’s how I felt! I didn’t feel enough development with them going from enemies to lovers to completely buy into their relationship. Every other sentence the mcs said to each other felt like it was about them being brothers lol. Or about the other one being hot (or annoying)…Or annoyingly hot. Talk about something else!!!! Additionally, the people in this series often don’t feel fully developed as individuals for me (it was especially apparent in this book). Sometimes they just feel like one dimensional, walking tropes! It felt like there was a checklist of situations the mcs had to go through and feelings they had to have at certain moments instead of anything coming across as super…genuine. Collided felt a lot like a favorite show of mine, The Amazing Race! It’s fast paced and everyone is racing to the next checkpoint, aiming to do everything as quickly as possible and trying desperately not to sleep with their stepbrother. Huh. Maybe they’re less similar than I thought!

Collided has all the ingredients I love in a great romance. It has stepbrothers, a forbidden relationship, and an enemies-to-lovers component that makes for such a great read that I could not put it down.

Cole and Huxley are reluctant stepbrothers who share a strong dislike/hatred for one another. I enjoyed how this author took the necessary time for these two to develop a connection, which occurs after one of them has a nearly catastrophic car accident.

Once the accident happens, their dynamic is forcibly altered due to one needing help recovering. Then they begin to open up and trust one another, and slowly their bond changes without either really realizing it. Huxley and Cole are two guys who feel deeply and together find a connection they had been missing all their life, which makes for one sizzling relationship.

Overall I loved this story. These two really captured my heart and I love how well-deserved their HEA is. They really are perfect for one another.

I loved this in the Anti-Valentine anthology and was really looking forward to the extended book.

I still love Hux and Cole together but I think I would have preferred more relationship building and solidifying their connection, rather than the back and forth that was happening to add drama. It felt a little like being cheated out of seeing them together as an actual established couple because it was very stop-start, and a lot of secrecy.

The possessiveness that I'm always a fan of was there on both sides, but because they were hiding the relationship for almost the whole book it didn't get a chance to shine because they always backed off - I want the alpha 'touch him and die' vibes as much as possible!

The drama around the parents also felt a little forced for me, I just wanted Hux and Cole to be together!! When we did see them together they were just so complementary and supportive of each other. I guess I was just hoping for more focus on the actual relationship and less of the external pointless dramas that took page time away from their relationship.

I love Becca Steele, I've read all her MM novels, and I’m a sucker for the stepbrothers trope. So I was obviously really looking forward to reading it… And omg, I wasn't disappointed at all!

Although I have to admit that Savage Rivals is still my favorite, this one doesn't come far behind.

I loved the tension between the two while they hated each other as much as the vulnerability they showed when they started to get closer...

I felt him sigh against me, and then his hand stroked up and down my back until I let myself relax into his body, realising that for the first time in a very long time, even if it was only for this stolen moment in the early hours of the morning, I had someone to lean on.

We have Huxley who is a big grump, never smiles and really intensely hates his new stepbrother. Then we have Cole who has it a little easier but has no intention of being pushed around and even enjoys making him angry. 😅

A situation arises in the book that turns their animosity on its head and slowly brings them closer together.

Huxley really desperately needed someone in his life who believed in him and Cole took on the role wonderfully. 🥰

No one had ever encouraged me to go for what I wanted before. But Cole had seen something in me. He'd believed in me, even when no one else had.

It was really beautiful to see when Huxley realized how much he cared about Cole and wanted to become a better version of himself to make him proud…

Then Huxley began to sing, and every single thought flew from my mind. This was what he was born to do. He was so fucking talented. His black-tipped fingers danced across the strings of the glossy ebony electric guitar, his sexy voice sending shivers down my spine as he rasped into the microphone.

I really fell in love with them both as individuals and as a couple. 💜💜💜

The second our lips met, it was like fireworks went off in my belly. I couldn't get enough of him. I wasn't sure I'd ever get enough.

I've enjoyed reading this book, it made me happy and I had a great time! 😊

Oh, and I must mention that Becca's epilogues are always perfect in my eyes.

I feel like I must have been hit over the head with something because this is the same recycled stepbrother storyline and yet, I kind of loved it. 🙄 I’m rolling my eyes at myself. We have Huxley, who hates his new step bro, Cole, on sight because he’s broken, has issues etc and is mad at his dad for leaving his mom. Huxley’s dad makes him feel like he’s not enough but treats Cole like his actual son and this angers him as well. Thankfully in this one, Cole wasn’t a dainty innocent suck up and actually had a personality. So these two clash initially but then something happens when the parents are on their honeymoon and it changes the way they see each other. I thought this part was a bit abrupt but I liked the hurt/comfort.

I appreciated that nothing physical happened until the 40% mark because it gave me time to feel all the unresolved sexual tension between them and it was hot. Then there was all kinds of pining because for once, the stepbrother thing was a deterrent that was hard for them to overcome. I loved the way it was handled though because it made for such a romantic moment and it made me realize how it’s been a hot minute since I’ve read a book with a grand gesture. I’m so used to the “I’m sorry, I love you, suck my dick, ok you’re forgiven” type shit and this was just swoony and I liked that.

The chemistry between Cole and Hux was so good and it made the sex scenes really hot. I wanted more of them tbh. I also liked that this was a character driven storyline and didn’t have a bunch of OTT stupid drama. The story revolves around Cole and Hux and I just really liked that the focus was on them and not other people. No one was meddling in annoyingly and I appreciated that.

I initially rounded this up to 4 stars because despite this being a recycled storyline, I liked it but it’s just not a 4 star read no matter how much I enjoyed it at the time so I lowered it. The last couple books I’ve read by this author have strayed away from her usual enemy tropes and while I applaud that, I haven’t liked them much so I was pleasantly surprised how much I adored this one. Was it perfect? No, but I read it in a few hours and had a good time. Will I like this again if I ever reread it? Honestly, probably not 🤷🏻‍♀️ because usually I rate books like this super low 😂😂

Also, I don’t usually listen to the playlists mentioned in books like this but music is a big part of Huxley’s life so I listened to the ones I didn’t know that I felt were important to the story and I was surprised how perfect they were for this couple. I can’t say I loved all the songs but they definitely fit the overall vibe of this book and I enjoyed listening to some new bands.

This was my favorite Becca Steele story so far.

I just loved Cole and Huxley together. Their chemistry was so good, right off the bat even when they hated each other.

The transition from hate to less hate to more was a bit abrupt, but I didn't mind much because their chemistry was just so well done and I felt the changing feelings between them. I felt the attraction, lust and then yearning that was growing into love between them.

Huxley was a bit difficult at first, he was the one who came in hot and decided to hate Cole immensely on site, which was unfair to Cole, who I felt was just reacting to Huxley a lot of the time.

But I understood Huxley and what he was going through why he was just taking his pain and anger out on the closest, easiest target.

There is seemingly real hate at first, so I did tag this enemies-to-lovers for that. But it does change quickly, so it's not as substantial an enemies-to-lovers story as it could have been.

I also gave .5 stars off because the parents already know at the end and they accept it and it's all hunky dory and it was just too easy. Again, this went the "step-brothers romance but not really because it's not really a big deal at all when everyone finds out so they might as well not have been step-brothers" route, but I loved the rest of this too much to give any lower a rating.

I do wish instead of these two separating briefly in fear of their parents finding out and the ramifications of it (which turned out to be zilch), that the parents had found them and the rest of the story was them dealing with the fallout and their parent's anger over them being together.

Also, the reason for the separation is what the parents say about a story in the paper about step-siblings, and the dad later says he was saying he was disgusted at the family for not standing by the step-siblings - and I had to roll my eyes at that. Come on, don't cop out. This is why I had to give something off for this, because that's just ridiculous. Just let the dad be disgusted at two step-siblings together, as people are in real life, and have these two deal with the consequences. Instead, it was all too easy to wrap it up in a tidy bow.

But, the rest of this was just so good and the chemistry was on fire between these two, and the romance, once it started, was so well done. I really felt the love between these two, they were definitely my favorite couple of this series so far.

If this author could keep up this with her next works, I will be one happy camper. Almost everything just worked so well in this to give us the best (in my opinion) Becca Steele novel so far.

I am a huge fan of Becca Steele and have loved everything I have read by her. This was no exception. Cole and Huxley’s story is an enemies to lovers stepbrother romance. I first read part of this story in the Anti-Valentine anthology and loved Cole and Huxley and was so excited that they were getting a full story! From what I understand the author has added extra content and a few new chapters to what was originally released so if you read the short make sure to read the beginning again for the extra content!

I loved Cole and Huxley together and it was so much fun to see them slowly change their feelings from hated attraction to interest to love. They had such an awesome banter and I was interested in their story from the very beginning. I didn’t want to put it down!

Their story is fairly low-angst for an enemies to lovers but it all made perfect sense for them. I loved their HEA! You don’t need to read the other books in the LSU series before this since it’s a prequel however I absolutely suggest reading them because they are amazing books! Reading this story actually makes me want to reread this series! Can’t wait to read the next book Becca Steele releases!

Did I like it? It was easy to read, short and entertaining, so I did enjoy it, but I will not remember it in a week or so.

Enjoyable but pretty standard stepbrother romance.
The relationship developed maybe a little too quickly — I prefer more of a build-up in the smut scenes, but Hux and Cole went from 0 to 100 real fast.

From the minute we’d first collided, he’d consumed me, and now I only wanted him.

The characters lacked a bit of depth, as did the plot, which is why I knocked off a star.
Still a fun and easy read!

I skipped through the last chapters quickly. This book was boring and far too rushed. I have a feeling that Becca is rushing her books more and more. Admittedly, it's great to have several books in the year, but the more it goes, the less I like her books. And in this particular story, I didn’t care about the two MCs. Seriously I was so keen to devour more from this story, not only is it stepbrothers but we got to go back to LSU.

I really enjoyed revisiting Huxley and Cole, and getting their full story. The tension and hate they feel early on brilliant, one of my favourite parts of that hate to love vibe is when the ice thaws and they realise they don’t quite hate the other.

Becca always hooks me in and has me loving her boys and this books was no different!
I’m now keen as for Ignited and to see what JJ brings!

This time, I'll give this book a strong 3.75⭐, considering the rest of the series (wasn’t as good), but I’m rounding it down simply because I didn’t like the constant reminders that they were stepbrothers. It goes on for pages and pages, even though these guys are over 18, adults, and have only been stepbrothers for a short time. They hadn’t known each other before their parents got married, and the “enemies-to-lovers” part was waaaay too short.

“Now that the two of you are finally being civil and acting like the brothers you now are, we would like to try something new.” He paused dramatically. “Family bonding nights.”

“You’re brothers now, and we want to strengthen our relationship with the two of you.” Her gaze turned to me, wide and pleading. “We know that it’s difficult for you both, but we want to be a real family.”

“Our two boys. You both gained a brother that day.”

And this was just over two pages. It felt ridiculous, no one would expect this from them at all. It’s fiction, sure, but I think the story would’ve been more believable in an American setting.

The sex scenes are quite good, but not great. I'm also not a fan of the way this author describes them mostly; they're descriptive, but the writing feels formulaic and not as authentic to me, which goes for the rest of the series as well.

That said, this is a light, sweet story, much better than the other books in the series. The British English isn’t as strong here, but it is more pronounced in the other books.

And I really don’t like the cover.

This is a light, sweet, and sexy stepbrother romance about two young guys after high school who end up in the same family, initially hating each other but gradually developing a strong emotional and physical connection.

Cole and Hux are two 18-year old guys who come from somewhat broken homes. Their parents get together when Hux's dad is still married and when his dad and Cole's mom become official as a couple, they all move in together.

Both initially really hate each other and that hate was pretty well described, even for just a hot minute, but they quickly turn into friends and then two guys who develop strong feelings for one another, but can't see how they can be together, because they both live at home and are financially dependent on their parents.

"It was the best, most intimate sex I've ever had in my life. Fucking him in the kitchen had been amazing - quick, dirty and sexy as fuck - but there was something mind-blowing about what had happened here. And the one thing I knew was that I never wanted to give this up."



They had a natural progression to their relationship, nothing was rushed, no added drama and the emotional side of their connection gentle, steadily growing stronger and overall believable.

"Cole taking care of me after my accident, even though we hated each other. Cole carefully bandaging my body. Cole flirting with me. Cole telling Tom how talented I was. Cole kissing me. Cole watching me play. Cole supporting me. Every. Fucking. Step of the way. Cole. Cole. Cole."

Huxley realized soon enough he finally had someone standing by him, Cole had his back and supported him through it all, just being there and loving Hux the way he's never been loved.

"I love you," I rasped against his lips, so choked up that it was a struggle to get the words out. "I love you, and I want to be with you. Even if it's hard. Even if noone understands."

The story has no angst, it's a lighter read and it's nothing I haven't read for hundreds of times already, but the setting is simple and both MMCs likeable, so you can't go wrong with this one.

If you're looking for a strong enemies-to-lovers, there isn't any of that here, it's a pretty good start, but the author didn't develop it further, but it would be ridiculous to do it anyway, they both just liked each other too much.

I won't lie and say the British English didn't bother me, I personally have a problem getting into a story if it's written in BE, unless it's a historical romance, but if you don't really care, this is a pretty good story.

I will continue reading the other books in the series. I expect light books with not much depth, but hopefully a good time.

Stepbrothers, and from the first moment Cole entered his new home Huxley his new stepbrother tells him to fuck off and leave him alone. Nice introduction.
They are evenly matched, Cole can be as nasty and rude as Huxley.

With the parents on their honeymoon and Huxley gone surfing on couches Cole is alone.
Until the moment Huxley is forced to go back home. Things changed.

“One and done. Get this out of our systems.”

Uhuhh not!

We know there’s a thin line between the strong feelings of hate and love, wait when they found out.
Yes, the heat is on.

“Hot, hard, and so fucking hungry.”

I enjoyed this emotional and hot story very much!

Collided by Becca Steele is a prequel of sorts to her brilliant MM college romance series, which is focused on the life and loves of a group of football playing college dudes studying at LSU. The series is set in England and has the quirky English sense of humour running all through it. Totally divine!

This is Huxley and Cole's story and whilst they are not part of the LSU group per se, there are some cameos from the guys we meet later in the series, as Hux will be starting at the campus as soon as he finishes high school. (And p.s. these boys are of age if that's an issue for anyone.)

Collided was originally a novella in the fabulouus Anti-Valentine anthology and while it has been extended, it does still feel like a short story with not too much build up to the relationship.

That said, you will enjoy Collided if you love:

Re-read 1/6/2024 because the audio book just released.
Loved it even more the second time around!

Their parents are getting married, and they both find out pretty abruptly. They start off on the wrong foot with Hux being a jerk to Cole when he moves in. Hux is holding onto a lot of hurt because his mother left and didn't want to take him with her, while his dad doesn't seem as invested or caring towards him. He sees Cole and his mother as tearing his family apart and Cole replacing him with his dad.
When Hux is in an accident Cole is called to help take care of him and get him home. He has been couch hopping, isn't close with anyone, and his parents are on a month-long cruise for their honeymoon. They are forced to spend time together while Cole looks after Hux during his recovery. This sort of forces them to talk a little bit and face the fact that they are both attracted to each other. Things progress from there and feelings develop.

It's no secret that I love Becca Steele. I'm addicted to her books, her writing, her characters. I especially love her enemies to lovers mm romance. They just hit right for me. This one is no different. I LOVE Hux and I adored Cole. They are stepbrothers as well, which I'm a sucker for. I can't help it, it's catnip for me. This was so good. I loved every second of it. The only complaint I have is that it's too short. I wanted more!

I got my first glimpse of Cole and Huxley in the Anti-Valentine anthology, and have been impatiently waiting to get my hands on their full story and I was not disappointed!!

Despite their hatred for one another, Cole and Huxley have an intense chemistry, and I loved watching that dynamic shift from hate to love after an accident forces them to spend time together. Their story is relatively low angst, oh so steamy, and honestly really sweet once they start opening up to each other.

While this is technically a prequel to the LSU series and can totally be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the entire series because it's aaaamazing!

You know I wasn't gonna read any ARCs due to exams, then I got this...& Well, I didn't resist! Devoured this in around 4hrs, Love Cole & Huxley so much 🥰.

This is a (college aged) MM forbidden step-brothers, enemies-to-lovers romance b/w "Have it together" Cole & "Emo bad boy" Huxley. Hux hated Cole on sight as his mom was homewrecker (kinda, but not really). It was fun seeing them hate eachother yet realise their attraction lol.

Then came the night that changed it all, a (car) collision. Hux sorta hurt & Cole taking care of him, luckily with their parents on honeymoon (until they weren't). C+H inevitably grew closer. Their's was a story I adored. The push & pull, the sexy & sweet times (love me a vers couple!), Strawberries & music love, the parents pleasently surprised me later on too. Full review soon.

This is a prequel to LSU series, I love Becca's books & need to read Elliot's now 😜.

Well, Becca has done it again… she has taken two characters and made my heart soar over their love story!

In Collided we find Cole’s mom dropping the bomb in his lap that she is getting married to her boss. He’s stunned since he didn’t even know they were a couple. They move in with her soon-to-be husband shortly after where Cole comes face to face with Huxley - his new stepbrother. In case you didn’t guess it they he hates Cole with a passion. Even with all their attempts at staying away from each other life has other plans and they soon discover that hatred is not the only thing they’re feeling.

For starters, I love how Becca writes her shorter books. They never feel like they’re short when reading them. The pacing is always equivalent to that of a longer novel and you get plenty of story without that rushed feeling. These characters are somehow likable even when they’re not (ahem Huxley) [and how cute is the name Huxley?! Such a good name and one I don’t see often.] I loved how they reluctantly spend time together and wind up getting to see each other in a different way. The way their relationship develops into what it becomes is incredibly sweet and so genuine. Everything about these two just makes you smile as you follow their story and root for their happiness. Oh, and that ending was amazing! The last chapter or two and the epilogue - SO good! 🙌🏻

There is just something about the guys in this series that stands out from all the others. Whether they are enemies to lovers or friends to lovers they each find this connection that just makes you want to squeal with joy as they finally give in and admit their feelings. Their love feels like you could reach out and physically touch it because of the way Becca writes them. I’m so glad we got this prequel story and I cannot wait to add a physical copy to my shelf with the others!

I cannot thank Becca enough for allowing me to BETA read for these two, because without a shadow of doubt Huxley and Cole were everything, EVERYTHING! And desperate doesn't even begin to cover what I felt after the reading the short teaser from the Anti-Valentine Anthology.

I was immediately obsessed. And that obsession only grew with the passing months we waited for the full-length version... But, it was worthwhile! I love Becca's writing style and the heavy dose of witty banter that never seems to skip a beat with her characters. Huxley and Cole were no exception. Their chemistry was on point and they never backed down from the challenge of riling eachother up! Their antics had me laughing out loud, as it was entertaining game of upmanship. Hux and Cole, loathed the step-brother title they'd been given and the inconvenient but overwhelming attraction they had towards one another.

Hux and Cole's relationship progressed to some of the sweetest of sweet moment. The definite strawberry on top of the cake? The steam they created in and out of the kitchen (talk about it being hot in the kitchen) I'm a glutton for tension and there was endless amounts here in this prequel to the LSU series.

I recommend this book to all the enemies-to-lovers & step-brother-loving readers that just can't get enough of this trope. Forbidden relations isn't all Hux and Cole dish out though. There is a lot of fun tropes in Collided, from grumpy/sunshine to forced proximity.

There were lots of things I really enjoyed which is in part because I love how Becca Steele writes possessive-but-why-am-I-feeling-possessive teens/young adults but I felt like I didn't have enough time with these MCs and seeing all the things they were falling in love with each other for besides each others bodies and their joint love for strawberries. I will however re-read this when in the mood for a short possessive jealousy filled stepbrother romance with lots of kissing :) I also loved that one MC was serious in not having huge career ambitions and desperately trying to not want to go to uni, instead he found a job he enjoyed and worked his way up :)

This also has the cliché serenading and later claiming with a song which was sweetly done imo. Speaking of which, I should still listen to that song...(Never Enough by Hunna which is very fitting for these characters unlike the Audi S5 coupé like wtf but then again this author has a bad track record with cars :D)
