The Mind Gym: Give Me Time

Rate this book
The problem of not having enough time is as old as time itself, and so are most of the proposed cures. The trouble is, they don't seem to work. The Mind Give me time proposes a radically different approach to time and how we use it. Combining extensive psychological research with five years of testing amongst The Mind Gym's 100,000 members, this book offers practical solutions that will make you feel great about how your time is spent. The book is packed with techniques including *how to achieve more by slowing down * tiny time investments that deliver massive returns * how to say 'no' and be loved for it * simple ways to get other people to want to do your work for you * how to get time with people who haven't got time for you And there's no need to read this book from cover to cover. The questionnaire at the start guides you directly to the chapters that will help you most.

A great mix between academic research, popular psychology and common sense. It's filled with lots of things I didn't know, but also lots of things I tend to forget.
Wholeheartedly recommended for people interested in time management (and mindfulness, although the term is never actually mentioned).

What I like best about this book is that it starts with a section on how to save time while reading this book. It tells you which chapters to read, depending on your needs and type of personality: there are three proposed programs (Give me space, Make me happy and Leave me alone), but you can also create your own program.
I also really like the fact that the book gives you prompts, in the form of little tests and questions for reflection. It forces you to actively think about the information you've just read and form your own opinion about the subject matter, instead of passively letting the words blow right through you or whatever.

There were four chapters I really wanted to read, but when I was done with that I just kept reading, because I just found it so interesting and well-written. :)

(I read this book in Dutch, so chapter titles might be a little off from the English version.)

i hate how time-consuming my days lately so i decided to pick up this book at the airport (periplus is one of my favorite bookstores). in the beginning of the book, the reader will be required to complete a short quiz to then will help you choose the chapters that'll help you the most. my favorite part: get people to do your work for you. hahahaha

Surprisingly good for a time-management self-help book. They've actually done their research on the psychological literature on the topic and combined it to a easy-to-read-and-navigate book. If you're busy (as the readers obviously are) they even start by telling how to find and read only the most important chapters for yourself. I do recommend doing it - the whole book was well written but the value of the topic depends on WHAT exactly your struggling with. I started like this and found it working but still for some reason couldn't get over the voice saying "hey, you should read the whole book before you leave it". Even the best time-management book can't save you from your belief system and automatic thoughts - but at least they can trigger some introspection to notice them at some point.

Time ... it is a scarce good. We all have it, but little of us have enough. This book can really help you to think about how you see, use, misuse or lose time. It is not necessary to read the book from cover to cover, but I did. The book suggests several paths, according to your needs.

The idea of Mind Gym is that, just as we train our body in a gym, you can train your ways of thinking if you exercise. From accepting that time forces us to make choices, to saying 'no' to people who secretly steal your time!

I will keep this book around the house, so I can pick it up and re-read certain chapters on the go.

This book will change the way you think about time and how you organize it. Extremely practical and up to the point. I highly recommend it and the Mind Gym series in general are pretty good.

Radical approach for time management. You don't have to finish everything quickly, but rather to make best use of it, which includes enjoying it.
