Librarian's note: This is an alternate cover edition for ASIN: B009SCQ42E.

Ghosts? Guardians? Archangels? Transmigration of Souls?
Incorporeal: As much as she wishes otherwise, Sara Wise sees ghosts. When a five hundred year old incorporeal being appears in her shower she orders him to leave, but he refuses. Sara knows he’s not her usual spectral visitor. Is Nathan de Manua a ghost? Her guardian angel? As her feelings for this incorporeal being grow, so do his powers. Will Nathan save Sara, or will her love redeem his tortured soul?
In the Flesh: In the middle of a blizzard a naked man falls from the sky right in front of Dr. Sydney Blake’s pickup. Although the man claims to be human, Syd has serious doubts. Wolf may not remember his origins, but he’s clear about one thing, he’s traded immortality for one night in Syd’s arms.
Stay: Just when Syd believes she’s lost Wolf forever to her great joy he reappears, but he can’t remember a thing about their brief time together. How on earth can she reawaken those memories, remind him of the love they shared, and convince him he’s the father of her unborn baby, especially when regaining his memory is the last thing he wants to do?
The Soul Series is a collection of three books, Incorporeal, In the Flesh, and Stay, complete with previously unpublished bonus material.

This author also writes as Julia Rachel Barrett and Julia Barrett.

If one word describes me, it's eclectic. Or so my friends say. I'm a lover of books, poetry, art, history, baseball, barbecue, chocolate, coffee, children, animals and the great outdoors. I'm a hospice nurse as well as a writer, but I got my first job at the age of twelve so believe me when I tell you if my heroines are doing it, I've probably done it. At the heart of every one of my stories is a real life event. (Even in Captured!)

If I was pressed to brand my romances, I guess I'd say I write romance for the thinking woman. Or I try. I layer my stories with meaning - I have fun, yes, but I draw on my literary background and I love nothing more than to sprinkle a special pixie dust composed of one part mythos, one part symbolism. I'm quite fond of Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung.

Family is everything to me. I keep my kids private, but my mom and dad and my poor husband are occasionally fair game! And I talk about my German shepherd, Jake, all the time.

I am also a hospice nurse and I write nonfiction-- articles for medical and nursing journals. I have a full-length work of nonfiction regarding my experiences with hospice: One Foot In Heaven, Journey of a Hospice Nurse.

The Soul Series, Special Edition

By Julia Barrett

Book 1: Incorporeal

Sara sees ghosts. Disbelieved by her mother and others she learns to keep her strange gift a secret. Ghosts come, ask a question or two, give some advice and then leave. Until Nathan. He manages to infiltrate her dreams with the most passionate erotic sex that Sarah has ever known. Neither of them can conceive of this phenomenon — yet fall in love even as they question the impossibility. As their love for each other grows, Nathan slowly becomes corporeal; a living man. Oddly her usual parade of ghosts doesn’t show up once Nathan arrives.

When not perplexing over Nathan, Sara is trying to promote her book to an agent, who is also her best friend and the only one who knows of her strange ability. Nathan realizes he's been sent to protect Sara. Dead for five centuries, Nathan finds it hard to adjust, but knows evil awaits Sara and he must protect her at all costs — but cannot leave the house to do it. Destiny steps in and while trying to protect the love of his life, Nathan, once dead, then alive, is killed.

Sarah is beside herself with grief, especially when the doctor tells her she is pregnant . . . A baby girl. She determines to go to all the places Natan de Manua lived in his previous life and find survivors of his extended family. On a plane flight she meets Nate, alive, human and living a life in which he has dreams; sensual unforgettable ones about a red-haired woman he cannot recall. Sarah realizes that somehow, in spite of the impossibility of it, she has found her Nathan once again.

Book 2: In the Flesh

The Guardian, Ze’ev, Sarah's father when he was alive, reports to the Angel that Nathan remembers and can now keep Sarah and their child safe. As a Guardian, Ze’ev wishes, after thousands of years, to return to Earth. The Angel, having little respect for the small humans, thinks he's crazy since he too, will forget who he really is. The Archangel only offers to consider his request.

Dr. Sydney BLake drives to her cabin in a blizzard after being relieved of 10 days of nonstop duty. She sees a huge golden man in his early 20s and buck naked standing bewildered in front of her truck. It's too far to take him to the ER so she leads him back to her truck and gets into her cabin. He doesn't seem to know where he is at Sydney can't help but notice he's all man and then some. The man has no memory of who he is, his name or where he came from, nor does he notices nakedness. But he remembers snow and insists upon going out into it, happy as a child. Inside, his appetite returns, matched only by his huge well muscled body, now partially concealed by one of Syd’s bathrobes. His memory slowly comes back and with it a lusty desire for Syd, who cannot resist his unearthly charm, come complete with golden eyes and an erection that melts her resistance. He calls her by name, saying he came, “down from the sky for you.” He makes a similar statement when Sheriffs Cass arrives, which blows Cass’s mind. Sid worries if he continues to speak like this that he'll be committed. Worse, it seems he can read her mind and others as well. As his memory returns he remembers knowing a child once . . . And her name was Sara. A long time ago; another lifetime.

Book 3: The Soul Series Stay

In the final book of the soul series, author Barrett blends the three books together, tying up loose ends in bringing this exquisite, well-written solver to a close. The sex scenes in these three sections are simply out of this world. This writer uses her amazing skills to make this series one of the best paranormal, supernatural and reincarnation novel that this reviewer has ever read. Well worth five stars, Author Barrett has given her readers a book to be long remembered and perhaps read again — one of those special books that one hates to see come to a close.

I downloaded this book for free during a promotion on Amazon, after having found the author on Rave Reviews Book Club.

This edition contains three books in one volume, and all of them tie in together eventually.

The series is paranormal romance, and relies heavily upon the belief in transmigration of souls, angels and divine intervention.

The plot, pacing and character development are all good, and the read was engaging. There is a need for some minor editing and a further proofread, but these issues are not major and not enough to detract from the read.

I must admit to enjoying the first (and largest) story the most. The other two felt like the same story with different characters, a different setting and things mixed around slightly. Much as the publisher in the first story advocates with her 'branding' philosophy. That said, the final two novels are enjoyable enough. I think that if I had read them with some separation, rather than back to back, I would have enjoyed them more.

There isn't too much else I can say without putting in a bunch of spoilers, which I have no wish to do. That said, I would recommend this trilogy to readers of romance, without hesitation. This is an author who has made it onto my 'to watch' list, and I wish her every success. I give four out of five stars for all three books in this edition.

Great book!!! I loved what the author did with the characters. The men were strong, powerful, sexy, and loved passionately. The women weren't weak and mindless, but they knew when they couldn't do things alone. The stories have everything romance, paranormal, bad guys, and heroes. Even though the story can be complete as is, there is still one unanswered question that leaves us wanting more. I look forward to reading this again and reading more from this author. You won't regret purchasing a copy of this book.

Difficile de garder l'intérêt au début. J'avais envie de quelque chose de plus "dur", plus "chaud". Eu l'impression de quelques coupures à certains endroits. J'essaierai peut-être d'autres livres de cette auteure cependant.
