I have loved all the books in this series so far but the author outdid herself with this one. It is SO GOOD! This book and series is a must read if you enjoy reading fantasy books. You will not be disappointed!
In this installment we find that Mairead is now 16 years old and the new Queen of Munitar. She became Queen after her momma Sibohon's passing. She has Kyeth and Lugh watching over her and helping her navigate being Queen. It's not long before Prince Lysander of Lochlann comes for a visit. He hopes to meet Mairead and convince her to marry him to unite their two kingdoms. The prince is attractive and charming and it's not long before Mairead falls for him. But he may not turn out to be who or what he says he is. Will it be too late for Mairead to save her kingdom or will she have some intervention into the situation?
I loved how the author showed us some backstory of Mairead as a child growing up through today without her momma. While most of the book focuses on her now at the age of 16 we get to see some of her childhood after Sibohon's death. How Kyeth became a Da figure in her life while Hest was gone and no one knew where he was or if he would ever return. I was also happy to see a couple of beloved characters return. It just added something extra to the story and plot. I have to say there was a battle scene that was so epic I was gripping my kindle so hard that I felt like I was right there watching it all unfold.
In my opinion this is a must read book and series! As I said in the beginning it is so good and I highly recommend you read this series! Make sure you read all the books in order because you don't want to miss a second of this story. This e-arc was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way.

Mairead is overwhelmed by ruling the country now that she has been orphaned. Prince Lysander requests a diplomatic visit, and Mairead agrees despite warnings from her council. Lysander understands magic, so as her draconic powers awaken and her relationship with her council deteriorates, Mairead turns to Lysander for help. Magic lessons have them grow closer, but Mairead's closest advisor and father figure warns her that Lysander wants more than what he tells her. Mairead must decide where her loyalties lie and balance that with ruling her country.
This is book six of the Stars over Ardatz series. (Uprooted, Blessed, Exalted, Determined, and Resolved are the prior books, and the links will take you to my reviews.) This book begins after the close of the fifth and is from Mairead's point of view. The loss of her mother after her father had already disappeared is devastating, but she has her mother's advisors as her own as well as her grandparents still living. This allows the time skip until Lysander's request for a visit to forge an alliance between their nations. Dragon powers are beginning to show, and Lugh makes an appearance in the story again. He's just as critical of Hest and dragons as he was in the past, effectively driving Mairead closer to Lysander. Because of his appearance and knowledge of magic, Mairead grows close to him. She makes several decisions that have made me question her and her ability to lead. She's as stubborn and emotion-driven as her parents had been, and she trusts far too easily.
Mairead is sixteen, with her first love and first challenge to her rule as queen. As with any teenager, she's sure she knows better than others, and discounts the advice given and even her own instincts when things don't feel quite right. A surprise is in store for her and the kingdom, as well as a test of her judgment when she must mete out punishment. Many tell her that she's more merciful than she should be, and I agree with that. She's young, and likely in time will learn more about keeping her kingdom safe from others who might wish it harm. There is a seventh book planned in this series, so we'll get a chance to see if she does.

What happens when you're a princess and suddenly the weight of the crown falls on you? 16-year-old Mairead will have to find that out, mentored by her faithful followers and friends, but soon she'll start making her own choices as life presents her with seemingly insurmountable obstacles. She'll not only need to learn how to rule, but also how to love... and who to love. Jeeah is a a constant presence, and he's all that's steady in her life.
This continuation of the Four Stars Over Ardatz: Sovereigns series is a much-awaited story, and one that does not leave the reader disappointed. It gives all that it promises to, and more. From princess to queen, from naive girl to magic user, from child to woman, Mairead is a relatable character to root for. And not only her, but everyone else in the cast. Every character is masterfully developed, so much you could think you'd see one of them any day walking down the street... if you lived in Medieval times with dragons, that is.
Kandi outdid herself again, and now the only question is... what happens next??

This author has done it again. This is a definite winner. In this book we find the Dragon King's daughter Mairead is queen. After her mother's passing she is thrust into that role. She has an advisor until she is old enough. A young prince comes visiting in hopes of uniting their kingdoms. But not everything is as it seems. How do you trust someone you don't know? How do you please the people who have always had your back and helped raise you? How do you trust them when they don't trust the one who you love? In this one we find the Dragon King returning. You must read this book to find out why?
Every book brings us more adventure, shows us how much Jeah cares. This is a must read. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Kandi can't write them fast enough for me.

Mairead has grown up, much more quickly than she should've had to. Now she sits on the throne, and has to face down various challenges. Wyatt has once again woven a captivating story, set in a rich fantasy world. If you've been following the series, then you're already familiar with Mairead, and her family history. Lysander is an interesting character, and I enjoyed getting to know him as the story unfolded, even if I didn't totally trust him. There were enough twists and just the right amount of tension to keep the story interesting, and it moves along at a good pace. Highly recommend starting at book one, although we do get a few peeks into Mairead's past in this installment.

The best one yet and I loved all the others. Mairead is Queen but there’s danger out there for her. Her magic is needed, will she be safe. I was drawn into another world for awhile and it was definitely delightful.
