Wren Cooke has everything she’s ever wanted—a thriving career as one of L.A.’s top interior designers and a home she loves. Business trips, mockups, and her demanding clientele keep her busy, almost too busy to notice Ethan Cooke Security’s gorgeous Close Protection Agent, Tucker Campbell.

Jaded by love and relationships in general, Wren wants nothing to do with the hazel-eyed stunner and his heart-stopping grins, but Tucker is always in her way. When Wren suddenly finds herself bombarded by a mysterious man’s unwanted affections, she’s forced to turn to Tucker for help.

As Wren’s case turns from disturbing to deadly, Tucker whisks her away to his mountain home in Utah. Haunted by memories and long-ago tragedies, Tucker soon realizes his past and Wren’s present are colliding. With a killer on the loose and time running out, Tucker must discover a madman’s motives before Wren becomes his next victim.

First up, totally called it.

Now that that's out of the way.. Book five of the series. I feel like suspense factor gets turned up with each book, which is great. (Except I need to stop reading them at night.)

My favorite thing is that Tucker calls her Cooke. Even in the heat of the moment. I absolutely love it.

I liked how the ending played out.

I don't have too much else to say, mainly because most of what I have to say is under the "spoiler alert" category. All in all, it was a good book. I liked it, the romance and the suspense.

I like how the cover has individual evidence markers for each bra cup. But this should be titled "Waiting for Wren to Make the Right Decision"... Have you ever read a book where the main character made the wrong choice every. single. time? That is Wren. Wren did that. Fucking hated it. I don't think the sex or the mystery was enough to justify the rating this book has, so I'm just gonna assume a whole lot of you are terrible at relationships and at being adults if this is what you find entertaining.

Now I've moved on from judging books to judging other readers by what they like. Way to be a bitch, Lyndi.

As soon as Tucker heard the rustles in the woods, I knew what was coming and I am so POed. The mystery has begun and I wonder where Ethan Security comes in.

Right from the getgo, we have plenty of danger, sexual tension, and verbal foreplay. My anticipation is at a foot tapping, sitting on the edge of my seat level.

Wren is independent. No wonder, her parents might as well have been nonexistent for the attention they paid her. She wasn’t used to being afraid, having a babysitter, and she could do a lot worse than Tucker.

Wren only has one suspect, but I have several. I think I’ve figured it out and if I have, he is truly evil, watching and reveling in her suffering. I wonder if he steps away and laughs. At least Tucker and Ethan, her brother, have not ruled out anyone, but I don’t think they see him…or do they?

Lots of stuff going on and it is torture as I wait for HIM to make his move on her and Wren to let Tucker in.

HE is jealous, determined, on the attack. I hope she doesn’t do the usual and go off without Tucker. She does get the hell out of Dodge, but it is with Tucker, as he takes her to the only safe place he can think of, Park City and the bad memories from his past.

“At some point during the drive from Salt Lake City, Rico Suave vanished and, Broody Bummer Man appeared. She wanted Rico back.”

It’s Cate Beauman’s writing that keeps me coming back for more. I love some humor with my suspense…and romance. We all know it’s coming, but…so far…it’s hands off for both of them, though the dance has begun. How long can she hold out, because one move from her and he’ll be putty in her hands. She can deny the pull as much as she wants, but I know it will win out.

Tucker has his own problems…I love multiple plots and wonder…are they related? Will they come together in the end? Will the mystery that’s haunted Tucker finally be solved and Wren set free at the same time? When’s it coming? I’m waiting…

I love that Cate Beauman makes me wait…Dragging out the suspense on every page. I think doom is coming. This ominous feeling hangs on every word, on every page and I am at 50%, on pins and needles…I can only imagine what evil Cate is bringing my way.

I loved when Wren finally ‘manned up’ and told Laura off. I could picture Wren stomping around the room, cussing her out in Italian…Is she a spitfire or a fireball?

It’s too soon to make life changing plans. Wren needs to stay in Limbo, for now, and I didn’t like this part at 52%.

HE’s getting more and more angry. Stalking is no longer enough. It is time to up the ante.

I do hate, that at 77%, Wren is still running from Tucker, but that is the nature of the romantic suspense beast. Gotta keep that sense of anticipation and fear for the characters at a high level, and Cate Beauman does that in a superb fashion.

I wonder what she has on the table for me next. *rubbing my hands together in eager anticipation*

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Waiting For Wren by Cate Beauman.

I love this series. Each book is a fast pace, thrill ride, with a touch of romance.

Wren Cooke was being stalked by a really sick man. He would kill cats and leave them for her to find. Wren's brother Ethan was away on a vacation. He owned a security company. While he was away he assigned Tucker to watch over his sister. Tucker and Wren had instant attraction. They just didn't trust easily. Wren trusted Tucker to keep her safe, but didn't trust him with her heart. I did like the fact that this story was different than most. Wren was the love um and leave um, and she didn't believe in marriage, or happy ever after. Tucker on the other side wanted a deeper comment. He knew there was something special between him and Wren. He just had to keep her alive so he could have the time to convince her, that she too loved him.

This story did give me the creeps more than once. The stalker was able to bypass the alarm system gaining entrance into the house Tucker took Wren to keep her safe. He watched Tucker, and Wren sleep, and left them a present to find the next morning. It was all a game to the stalker. He got pleasure from watching Wren get scared.

In this book I was a little disappointed that I didn't connect to the hero, and heroine, like I did in the previous books. I never figured out why Tucker called Wren by her last name. She was not military. The series is a great series as a whole. This was a good book, but was my least favorite out of this series. If you want to read a book in this series, start with the first or second book. I did enjoy the fact that we got to see some of the characters from the previous books.

I read a book from this collection in between my SciFi/Fantasy collection. I loved Moran's Hunter and Waiting for Wren the most out of the first 5 books I have read in the Bodyguards of LA series. Tucker and Wren have this hot tension from the start!! Tucker is such a great man! You just love him from the beginning! The love scenes are steamy! :) Overall a great book with a mystery story line and a sexy and sweet romance.

A few quick things about this book:
-I pretty much figured out who the murderer was very early on however, I give Ms. Beauman credit for the twists that had me questioning my pick more than once.
-The "big reveal" wasn't as climatic as I would have liked. But then again, I had already figured things out at that point.
-I loved the slow burn between Tucker and Wren. I found myself pretty much falling in love with Tucker. Although the argument near the end made Wren come off as petty. I think she went a bit overboard by claiming Tucker lied to her when he told her he wanted to get some facts straight before he told her his theory. I understand that the drama had to be there though.
-I didn't like that there wasn't any mention of safe sex in this book. In fact, other than in book #4, most of the Bodyguard books don't put much emphasis on safe sex.
-I was a bit frustrated with the typos. Names were interchanged a few times and it seems that there is some confusion over the difference between "your" and "you're". These are things I'd expect a published author would pick up on.
-Finally, again, no epilogue. This is the case with all of the Bodyguard books but I still find it disappointing.

Wren's terror

Tucker Campbell liked Wren from when he first saw her and wanted her, trouble is, so did did some one else.
Tucker's a good guy with a few issues, haven't we all? Wren is Ethan's brother and if you've read his and Sarah's story, so have the Cooke siblings.
This is another great story from the pen of Care Beauman. I found one of her books and I think I've now brought them all except for the first two that the author sends you if you contact her. They are all really good, all different, all written well with great characters and I've found, can be read in any order.
This story is Wren and Tuckers and indeed he has waited for Wren. I was surprised at Tucker's back story and you could empathize with how he handled Wren's stalking issues even though she couldn't.
The story is a bit gruesome, there are lots of twists, violence and naturally misunderstandings. All in all, great stuff. Well done author.

Tucker and Wren

This is a nail biting, gut wrenching read. I thought I knew “whodunnit” but doubted myself numerous times. Tucker Campbell has wanted Wren Cooke since he first saw her. He was a cop then and now works for her brother. She is a workaholic building her interior design business and trying to dodge the handsome, sexy and obnoxious bodyguard. She’s able to resist his charm until she gains a stalker and he has to whisk her into hiding in his family’s vacation home in the Utah mountains. He has not been there since he found his twin murdered in her bedroom fourteen years ago. Each are dealing with their own problems and their attraction. This book has a nasty stalker, a concerned brother, an unsolved murder, inexperienced police, a snow storm or two, lots of hot steamy sexy scenes, a stubborn woman who doesn’t believe in love and a man determined to prove her wrong and keep her safe in the process.

This is the story of Ethan's sister Wren and Tucker. They met at the hospital when Sarah was hurt in book two. Wren is strong and sassy and a successful business woman. Until a stalker targets her and starts leaving her flowers and then dead cats on her porch. Tucker must protect his boss's sister Wren and find the stalker, except he has had the hots for her since the first met. I received this book as an arc for a honest review.

When Ethan Cooke’s sister, Wren, finds herself with a stalker, it could not have happened at a worse time. Most of Ethan and the gang are in Hawaii, leaving only Tucker on-call. With Ethan’s house and the safe house both under construction, Tucker and Wren have nowhere to go but a place that still haunts Tucker.

Either I have not read one of the books in this series in a while and have forgotten what one of these is like or this is the best one of the series yet. Not. Even. Kidding. (Until this one, I thought Falling for Sarah was the best of this series.)

I cannot say everything I think without spoiling the novel. I hate spoilers. So, what can I say?

I just love mysteries. This one is more mysterious than the others. I kept guessing. I knew what was going on but then I didn’t. I could not be right. Or could I? (I won’t tell!) The plot kept thickening and the twists here just kept on coming.

Cross your legs. This book is more graphic than others in this series. There is sex just like the others but earlier, too. The timing of it - though early by some romance novel standards - was not early in terms of the story. The romance felt right, not offensive or cheap.

I am reminded of the points of view in Falling for Sarah – particularly one in Falling for Sarah that scared the crap out of me. Cate pushed the envelope here and went a little further. There’s a stalker and a killer who rapes on the loose. Thus, once again, rape makes another appearance. Again, it felt…right. Rape is awful and so was its portrayal. It did make the story better. Just beware, sensitive readers.

Told in third person, points of view shifted around. Sometimes the third person still felt like first person with third person words. But, this occurred much less and appeared much smoother than in previous books. Parts ended up not as spine-tingly creepy as Falling for Sarah but instead resulted in the kind of suspense where you might find yourself holding your breath, pleading for the characters, “No! Don’t go that way!” A heart-pounding, good thrill. This is exactly what readers are looking for in romantic suspense thrillers.

The character development was slick. The characters were loveable, easy to identify with and truly came alive. Their burdens felt oh-so-real. I laughed and cried with them, particularly with Tucker. There was a particular scene when one character said a certain phrase and I thought, shaking my head, “Ah, such a guy thing to say!” Then, I thought, “oh yeah, we’re flip-flopping between a man and a woman –Man, Cate really captured both the male and female minds so well.” I forgot that she had to get into their heads and then show us it all on paper. Bravo!

Standing at over 400 pages, I did not feel the length at all. I read this in a jaw-dropping two days. And I read like a turtle. So, this really says something. There were maybe five minor errors, understandable at this length.

If you follow me, you know I don’t give out 5 stars lightly. This one is worth all 5. As one of the best books I have read this year, I highly recommend this for adults.

If you have not read any of her series yet, what are you waiting for? Jerrod’s story? His story has to be next, right? I think so, too. Can’t wait!

If you didn’t already know, I’ve been a huge fan of Cate Beauman and her books ever since I read ‘Falling For Sarah’ in July. Ever since then, I’ve been lucky enough to have the opportunity to read more books by Cate Beauman in the Bodyguards of L.A. County series. I’ve been wanting to read the story of Wren, Ethan’s younger sister ever since I read his story in ‘Falling For Sarah’. This is the seventh book in the series I read, but every book can be read as a standalone.

Wren has her own company in interior designs, and she works almost every single hour to make her company a success. And it is. With rich and famous customers Wren is getting more and more successful every day. But when a stalker is getting more aggressive, leaving dead cats by her door, Tucker, the handsome bodyguard who works for Wren’s brother needs to get Wren away from L.A. Although it’s definitely nice that Tucker want’s to protect Wren, the last thing Wren needs is to be alone with Tucker. Wren doesn’t want romance or any kind of distraction. And ever since she met Tucker months ago, distracted is what she is. Especially since Tucker is determined to make Wren his. But a stalker, and a horrific past will make things very hard for Wren and Tucker.

‘Waiting For Wren’ definitely was another exciting, thrilling and romantic story. There were a lot of moments that made me sit on the edge of my seat, desperate to find out more about the stalker and serial killer. I was intrigued by the mystery of who the stalker was, and I kept guessing until the very end. Cate Beauman definitely had me wondering about what was really going on a lot. And I enjoyed every moment of it.

The two main characters Wren and Tucker weren’t my favorite to be honest. It took me a while to really ‘feel’ their chemistry. Maybe it was because the story went pretty fast in the beginning, slow in the middle, and again very fast near the end. I felt like I didn’t really knew the characters all that well to be able to really connect with them. Maybe because they supposedly already had chemistry for months, but we only got to read about it months into their ‘relationship’.

Still, this was another great story that kept me hooked until the very end. And I’m curious to learn what Cate Beauman has in store for us next.

Reviewed on behalf of Readers' Favorite

Waiting for Wren by Cate Beauman is the fifth book in The Bodyguards of L.A. County Series. Wren Cooke, sister to Ethan Cooke, the man in charge of Ethan Cooke Security, is a headstrong woman, bound and determined to stand on her own two feet. Founder of Cooke Interiors, the designer is taken aback when she finds herself dealing with a mysterious stalker. Enter Tucker Campbell, a former police detective, and bodyguard for her brother’s security company. Assigned to protect Wren, they end up in the mountains of Utah, hiding from Wren’s stalker. Desperately attracted to his boss’s sister, Tucker fights old memories as they stay in his family’s vacation house. As they do, sparks begin to fly between the pair, Wren fighting the attraction, but unable to resist Tucker. But with an escalating madman on the loose, will Tucker and Wren manage to make it out alive?
Cate Beauman certainly has an amazing way of weaving romance in with suspense. Waiting for Wren was not about a woman falling into a man’s arms, but a battle of wills between two people unwilling to admit their feelings to each other and let down those walls. Tucker was charming, but had depth as a character. Having to go to a place that caused him great pain in the past and facing his demons must have been very difficult for him. I liked that Wren was headstrong, putting the needs of others first, but not without her own workaholic flaws. Even though this is part of a series, it stands on its own, only proving to enhance the depth of the supporting characters. Like Miss Beauman’s other novels, I simply devoured Waiting for Wren, and will be seeking out the first books in the series to get the entire background on the characters.

Loved this!! Very suspenseful and jam packed with moments that make your heart simultaneous race and stop all at once! (I know- that sounds weird! But it's true!)

My few issues: the bad guy- I had it pegged- who it was and WHY he did what he did from the first couple of chapters. I really hate when that happens. I wished the whole time I was wrong and the author would throw me for a loop. But she didn't.

My other issue was Wren. She spends the whole book saying "no, no, no" and then not once- but twice- she just all of the sudden says "yes, yes, yes." It seemed extremely out of character for her. I mean it was literally one paragraph she's saying "no" the next she's giving in. It didn't seem like her. I didn't see her as the type to make such quick decisions. I felt she would have analyzed everything, talked herself into saying yes- and THEN letting the other person in on that on her terms. Idk. It didn't sit right with me.

I do recommend reading the first 4 books first if you haven't. I didn't- and while yes- the story itself doesn't connect to the other books- the characters do. It would have been helpful to know more background at times. So I do recommend reading those first if you can. If not- just be prepared for several references to the past books.

The suspense keeps pulling me apart! Warning: Do not read this book if you're alone at night.

Interior decorator Wren Cooke does not date cops. Never has, never will. Not even when a mysterious stalker escalates from text messages and flowers to bloody dead animals on her doorstop. But when the assailant throws a brick through her window and breaks into her house, ripping up her underwear and defacing her bedroom, she turns to Tucker Campbell for protection.

He whisks her away to his family's vacation lodge in Park City Utah, a place haunted by the murder of his twin sister years ago. Wren and Tucker are snowed in and soon find themselves embroiled in a lusty affair while a killer hones in on them.

The tension stretches and stretches as Tucker has to resolve his grief over his sister while trying to protect Wren from a similar demise.

As usual with Cate's books, you'll get hot, steamy loves scenes mixed with heart-stopping suspense and two fiery characters who never seem to get their timing right.

Well, I have finished this book. First, I would like to thank Cate Beauman for giving me the opportunity to read her work as part of 'First reads' (a signed copy!) through Goodreads. Not only did she send the book along, but it came with a bag of Dove chocolates and a pen. Awesome! So, thanks!

If the timeframe in which I read this book tells you anything, you should read this book. I enjoyed the mystery, I enjoyed the connection between the characters. I had the bad guy picked out, but Beauman did a good job of convincing me that it wasn't him. But, in the end, I was right! I didn't really realize that this was a romance novel until I reached the second half and there was a bit of sex.

There were some side characters in this book that were the stars of the show, earlier in the series. I now have the pleasure of going back and reading the first four books, when money and time permit.

I recommend this book if you want a fun, easy mystery to get you through your day!

Right from the start I knew that I'm in for a wild ride. Cate Beauman for sure knows how to write a great suspense. This one had me sitting on the edge of my seat.

Waiting For Wren follows story of Wren, Ethan's sister, and Tucker, Ethan's friend and employee. Tucker takes on the responsibility of keeping Wren safe when she starts receiving creepy notes and gifts. They feel attraction to each other from the start, but Wren is fighting it as she doesn't trust easily and has commitment issues (must run in the family). However, it's not long before she succumbs to Tucker's charm.

I really enjoyed this installment, it was full of suspense and intrigue and it had you wondering who the stalker might be. I was actually quite surprised when it was all revealed and my heart broke for Tucker when he found out who has murdered his sister all those years ago.

Can't wait to read the next installment in this series. These bodyguards have completely taken over my life.

This entry to the Bodyguards series is quite suspenseful, while also being very emotional. Wren and Tucker are both very leery of serious relationships. When they begin to have feelings for each other, they are in the middle of a very dangerous situation. How they cope with that, the very strong feelings between them, and the actions of others towards them, causes a pretty turbulent time for both. When the danger for Wren is found to have come from another source altogether, she feels betrayed. The solution to their problem is the ending you might wish for.

Again, I am not happy about the grammatical and spelling lapses all over this book. Please - some proofreaders who can find a grammar book! Really have to deduct half a star for it, so call this one 3-1/2 stars.

Cate Beauman is now officially one of my favorite Authors. Yet another great book in the Bodyguard series. Wrens brother Ethan Cooke owns the security firm and his sister has an interior design business. She ends up with a stalker and has to run go to a safehouse to hide. There are many twists and turns in this book. Her brother assigns Tucker (one of his men to protect her). There is a chemestry but Wren does not want to get involved. Tucker is willing to wait but many painful things from his past creep up like the death of his twin sister. Just when you think you know who the stalker is everything changes. Suspense right to the end. These books get very intense and I have a hard time putting them down.

Book 5 of the series. Each book in the series has a different back story and all of them have their share of heartache and suspense. Wren is Ethan Cooke's sister and is being stalked by a physchopath who leaves dead cats on her doorstep. Wren's brother Ethan is away on vacation and assigns Tucker to watch over his sister. Wren is fiercely independent and her and Tucker end up in the mountains hiding from her stalker. Time alone together only fans the sparks between the two of them and their trip to the mountains is a lot harder on Tucker than Wren first knows. Wren was a strong character and both her and Tucker finally show their vulnerabilities to each other and stop fighting their attraction. I figured out the stalker early on but it was a great story to tell.

Loved this book.

The fifth book in the series, the characters remain the same as previous books. It's nice to see what the characters out of previous books are up to.

Wren and Tucker are both likeable characters. Wren's character is believable. She's not too much of a princess and isn't spineless at all.

Also loved that the got out of the city, and up to snow country.

Well done Cate.

Another great book by this author I am loving this series. This was a great story with lots of action and suspense, although I had worked out who the villain of the story was early on it didn't detract from the suspense. I came to this book fresh from the truly appalling Forever Alexa ( I had bought all five books after reading the first) with very low expectations. However this was the most enjoyable book of the series, though the villain was easily recognisable from the start.
