Astrid Anna Emilia Lindgren, née Ericsson, (1907 - 2002) was a Swedish children's book author and screenwriter, whose many titles were translated into 85 languages and published in more than 100 countries. She has sold roughly 165 million copies worldwide. Today, she is most remembered for writing the Pippi Longstocking books, as well as the Karlsson-on-the-Roof book series.

What is it about Astrid Lindstrom’s Noisy Village books? I always seem to be reading one after I fall ill, this time with the horrendous Flu B, even without meaning to pick one up. Well, these books are definitely the best medicine!

The moniker of Noisy Village is a bit of a misnomer. The six children of Noisy Village — 9-year-old Lisa; her mischievous older brothers, Karl and Bill; and neighbors Anna, Britta, and Olle — don’t live in an actual village at all, but in a grouping of three farmhouses, as was the way in Sweden long ago. But while not a village, it sure is noisy — and very entertaining.

Set at the turn of the 20th century, readers learn why the children’s walk home from school takes so much longer than the one to school, about the boys’ silly hijinks, the wonders of midsummer in rural Sweden, about going on an overnight trip to catch crayfish and the best chapter of all, “Anna and I Want to Be Nursery Nurses — Perhaps.” What Anna and Lisa get up to with Olle’s not-yet-verbal little sister Kerstin proves hilarious!

You’ll often hear people say that they don’t write children’s books like this anymore. Except for Kate DiCamillo, they don’t, and more’s the pity. I could read 100 books about Noisy Village, and I highly recommend the books to readers of all ages.

Hari-hari bahagia Lisa dan kedua kakaknya Lasse dan Bosse beserta teman-temannya Britta, Anna, dan Olle yang tinggal di Bullerbyn. Tinggal di pedesaan dengan berbagai macam permainan yang menyenangkan. Tentu saja kegiatan mereka semua dengan aktivitas fisik, melompat, memanjat, berlari, memasak bolu atau berburu harta karun. Tidak ada gadget berikut games-games dan internet. Menyenangkan sekali.

Melukylä on jäänyt mulle ehkä jotenkin etäiseksi, vaikka olen kuunnellut nämä pienenä ja katsonut VHS-kasetilta Melukylän lapset-elokuvan. Hetken mielijohteesta aloin tätä lukemaan ja yllätyin positiivisesti. Ihana kirja!

I'm not going to write a different review for The Children of Noisy Village, Happy Times in Noisy Village and Nothing But Fun in Noisy Village because they're all absolutely wonderful and I had all these stories in one volume as a kid, I take them for one. This was my favorite book when I was little, I made my mum read it to me all the time, I've read it myself when I was older, I knew it by heart. These kids and their adventures were always so near and dear to my heart, I wanted to be one of them. And it stands the test of time, I absolutely loved to reread it.

I had a lot of books by Astrid Lindgren when I was little. I read the same books to my daughter. My oldest grandson was 4 last time we went to Sweden and visited Juni backen. It's a wonderful place for kids where you can visit Villa Villerkulla, Pippi's crazy house. On "The Story Train" you fly over many worlds that Astrid created. She wrote so many amazing books about different characters. https://www.junibacken.se/

I look forward to visiting Sweden again so my youngest grandson gets to go to Junibacken.

I was not able to find this book pubished before 1999 but it was written in 1952.

Tässäpä kirja, johon olen halunnut tutustua jo vuosia. Vasta nelikymppisenä sain aikaiseksi lukea yhteisniteen lapsille iltasatuna ja se täytti kaikki odotukset. Eikä odotukset olleet ihan pieniä.

Hauskoja tilanteita, kiinnostavia persoonia ja juuri sopivan mittaisia sekä ihastuttavia tarinoita luettavaksi iltasatuna. Enpä tullut kysyneeksi lasteni tähditystä kirjalle, mutta aika luottavainen olen, että viisi tähteä on meiltä kaikilta.

Senang sekali dulu masa kecil ditemani oleh buku-buku Astrid Lindgren ini. Membaca buku ini, kita akan dibawa berpetualang oleh 6 sekawan bocah-bocah lucu. Lase, Bose, Lisa, Britta, Anna, dan Ole yang membawa kita pada suasana natal di pedesaan Swedia. Dimulai dari kisah menyambut natal hingga ditutup oleh ulang tahun kakek milik semua warga Bullerbyn, dan tak lupa kelahiran adik Ole yang menjadikan anggota mereka bertambah.

Luetiin 4-vuotiaan kanssa aina yksi kappale iltasaduksi pitkin kesää. Melukylän lasten edesottamukset muistuttavat jossain määrin omastakin lapsuudesta, vaikka se olikin ysäriä se enkä ihan näin maalla asunut. Silti kirjasta välittyy sellainen lapsuuden vapaus ja leikkisyys. Tykkäsin silti ehkä itse enemmän sarjan ekasta kirjasta, osin myös nostalgiasyistä, koska se on tutumpi.
