Kalau Hana-kun tertawa, aku merasa senang... sekaligus ingin menangis.
Bahkan kata-kata sepele darinya membuat hatiku berdebar.
I really loved how this manga is so simple yet it captures how real a person who is in love feels. Sometimes you fall for the peculiar guy who doesn't match you. Delinquents are often misunderstood, the stigma that the society view them are construed wrongly, that they are not worthy to be loved but all people deserve to be loved. This manga offers us the a slice of life, all of us have someone we love but often enough they are not reciprocated. Unrequited love is really sad, I know we all have been victims of this kind of love but yeah that's life for you. (^^)
I can't remember when I started reading this--but from what I remember (since I only got to the second volume) this is so far a pretty standard shoujo manga. The setup of the main character and the love interest, is so far, pretty ordinary---good girl and a delinquent of a sort.
*****UPDATE 30/08/2015*****
I TAKE IT BACK ^ the above. Not my rating though. That stays. It turns out, I didn't get passed the first chapter the last time I read it lol. This time round, however, I decided to really give it a try--I could deal with a cute little romance. It is definitely a cute romance.
DON'T READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU DON'T WANT ANY SPOILERS
It is also filled with many shoujo manga tropes, but it's not half as annoying. Like:
- Good girl meets not so good guy in a somewhat compromising position - Love interest is in love with another girl (who, obviously, is forbidden) - Good girl doesn't realise she's in love until later on - Good girl still cares about Love Interest even though she knows he doesn't like her back - Love Interest eventually returns her love
But even though it has all those tropes, I actually found myself really liking this manga. The only reason why it loses stars is because partway through the series--around Volumes 8-9--there's an arc that I really found stupid and time wasting. Sure it wasn't too bad, like it's not as annoying as others, but it felt kind of pointless, merely a plot device for more drama. If this arc hadn't been included, I would have rated this higher!
The Pros:
This is a really cute manga. It's definitely light and fluffy and all about love. I can sense a bigger theme overall for the whole story, but I don't think I'll get to really know the theme until the very end of the manga. Which might not be for a while yet!
Nanase is an interesting female protagonist. First off, she's not a shoujo manga trope protagonist. Rather, she's pretty, she's smart (these things aren't unusual, but they're not always paired together), she's kind, but a little oblivious and sometimes thinks too much. She's an interesting character that I like because she's not like the characteristic 'stupid', 'weak', 'crybaby', 'idiotic' kind of protagonist. I like this difference. She reminds me of Misaki Ayuzawa from Kaichou wa Maid-Sama! and Haruhi from Ouran High School Host Club. I would also compare her to Kyoko from Skip Beat! but the manga on the whole is incomparable to that gem of a manga. So I won't. But yes, Nanase reminds me of those female characters, and I like her for it.
As for the love interest, Hana (that's his last name btw, I forgot his first!), he's pretty characteristic. A delinquent character, though not characteristically abusive, loud, or some such all the time. Instead, he's kind of a cross between the delinquent image, and also, the quiet, incredibly smart and cool glasses male character (only Hana doesn't have glasses lol). I like his character too. He's simple, he moves between loves by accepting his old love, and also coming to realise that he likes Nanase. He also feels kind of realistic, in the sense that he does something stupid based off a very natural, very human feeling of unease. Still he shouldn't have done it, the idiot.
I like how both Nanase and Hana are very straightforward characters. They speak their minds, rather than hiding their unease, which is common in most shoujo manga. They have their faults too, but their characters are a pair of a few shoujo manga couples that I actually really enjoy reading.
Supporting Characters: Nanase's friends are great. But it's Komari, the sensei, and also Hana's childhood friend, is hilarious. She's great.
Setting Japan~
Artwork and Writing Good artwork, nice and pretty. I like it. And the writing is ease too. Very clear, though I have yet to be kind of moved by it. At the same time, it's not boring.
Overall A suggestive read. Good, light and fluffy.
Nyesek, tapi aku kok geli hihihihi... Mesakke tapi kok piye :D
Cerita selanjutnya, ya usaha Nanase yang terus mendekati Hana-kun, hubungan keduanya dan beberapa sandungan kisah romantis mereka. Makanya, agak membosankan jika cerita hanya bgitu terus. Untunglah, saya membaca Bakuman, jadi sedikit tahu usaha penarik perhatian pembaca dengan menghadirkan karakter baru. hahahaha... Kenapa belok ke Bakuman ya? Entahlah...
This was just so cute. About a girl who studies a lot, loves rules meets a boy who doesn't care much about rules and keeps getting in trouble. They form a friendship.. and well you could quickly see it was also more than that. So I found myself rooting for them. I really enjoyed both the characters and loved to see them both grow and learn about and from each other. I loved that Nanase tried to help out Hana and also tried making him feel more included in the class. The art was really pretty and I like the style. There is a plot about the teacher and I am still curious what Hana-kun and her have together, I don't think it is romantic, but I am curious about it.
Nanase’s the straight-laced class rep and she doesn’t have much time for the class delinquent, Hana. As she keeps bumping into him, however, she realizes that he’s not quite what he seems. In fact... maybe, just maybe, she’s starting to really enjoy his company. Hana’s got his own plans, however, and Nanase just might not fit into them.
Boy, after their initial encounter, I thought that this series was never going to recover - Hana comes off particularly badly at the end of that scene - but the book managed to get back to something more palatable after getting off on the wrong foot.
This is not a particularly stand-out example of the genre, honestly, but compared to some of the stuff Kodansha has seen fit to release of late, I’ll take a more generic, yet enjoyable, story. It’s got two good leads with decent chemistry and okay art. Sometimes that’s enough.
I do like a couple of things here that subvert the expected story beats - despite seeming meek, Nanase has some serious spunk when pushed far enough. I won’t go much into Hana, but his motivations are a definite trope and one I don’t often see from the male perspective. It doesn’t make it less of a trope, but at least it has a hint of actually trying.
Looking at the downside, this book basically has three characters and a very poorly developed supporting cast. I really think good side characters can liven up a story and this one was basic enough that it would have helped give it a bit more punch.
There’s also one very icky suitor for Nanase who keeps coming back and he’s one of those characters who the author clearly thinks is great and I want to punch in the mouth.
3 stars. It’s cute and it does what it’s intending to do with workmanlike quality. You’d never go to this over, say, Hatsu*Haru or Strobe Edge or a dozen other titles, but I don’t regret my time with it and I could see checking out a second volume when it gets released.
Realmente me encanto TODO!
Light and fun reading.
