Soon to be married Daniel Macgregor meets mysterious beauty Sarah Mitchell on the day his father gives him a ballet company. Although, at first hesitant to take on responsibility he changes his mind when he realizes Sarah dances for the same ballet company. Over the course of the production of “SWAN LAKE” Daniel and Sarah fall head over heels in love. However, unknown to Daniel, Sarah is cursed to turn into a swan each night until someone loves her for what she is.
Fucking piece of shit. And that's what the book is GR Censor Police, if you're wondering. This exemplifies what is wrong with the self publishing world. I don't think anyone should have to pay for a book where the author clearly hasn't paid attention in English class since the seventh grade. My dog is reviewing this one. Read my Frozen review if you want to know what that means.

A nice read, but it fell flat for me which was a bit disappointing since it was once of those reads that I had high hopes for. The narration of the story was well written, but it seemed more appropriate for a movie rather than an ebook. Every time the focus on characters shifted I could easily picture it in my head as cut scenes in a movie. The third person narration also made me feel a little bit distant from the characters rather than feeling closer if it was in a first person POV.
The character's personalities were also disconcerting for me. Their actions don't seem to match up to how they present themselves which I suppose is perfect if what you're going for is the cliche different on the inside, but the differences seem too dissimilar.
The romance was also alright. While there were some sweet moments (I thought the scene at the London Eye was nice), I just didn't feel it since there didn't seem much of a build up.
Overall, the book was okay for me. I think it did a decent job for fitting so much in a somewhat short read, but it was mostly the tip of the iceberg for a really great story plot. It seems I'm in the minority for not being crazy about this ebook, so please do give this story a shot. I recommend reading this if you like fairytale spinoffs with some romance. I say some because it seems like Daniel's situation, Sarah's swan problem/love for dance, and their budding relationship are all equally fighting for the spotlight in the plot.
Sarah Mitchell has only known sadness since her parents death. Yet Sarah has one dream that she refuses to give up on to be a ballerina and dance Swan Lake. Sarah hides a secret from everyone she becomes a swan from dusk to dawn just like all of her family before her just like in Swan Lake. Sarah's Uncle Victor allows Sarah to train as ballerina under one condition she must be done by five p.m. no matter what. Sarah agrees and thus is her life until she's twenty-one years old. Meanwhile Daniel MacGregor is living a carefree life but all of that comes to a crashing halt when Daniel's father John demands that he go thru with. John believes that Daniel will fail at saving Odette Theater. Daniel goes about trying to save the theater and becomes infatuated with Sarah. Sarah is very tired of the rules set before her and wants to be a normal girl. She finds Daniel to be handsome. Will Daniel save the theater? Will Daniel learn Sarah's secret? Will Sarah break the rules? Your answers await you in Cursed.
Cursed takes the classic tale of Swan Lake into the modern era with a few twists. The characters and story were real, raw, flawed, honest, down to earth, and compelling.. The book hit the ground running from first page to last page. Definitely will look forward to more from this new to me author.
I received a copy of read Swan Story by Priya Narendran from CLP Blog Tour as part of the blog tour. I previously read and reviewed for Priya Narendran’s Schoolgirl Cinderella. I was excited to see how Priya was going to turn another write fairy tale, modern style since I haven’t seen many Swan Lake fairy tales retelling around.
Daniel Macgregor’s father gave him a ballet company as his present, hoping that he will learn to take responsibility. Daniel weren’t too keen of his father’s idea, but then changed his mind when he met Sarah, a dancer in the ballet company. Sarah had a secret. She was cursed to turn into a swan from sunset to sunrise, which was why she always went back earlier than everybody else. The only way to break her curse is to find her true love.
I really like Daniel and Sarah interaction in this book. I like how they get to know each other despite Sarah keeping her secret from him. I love how Daniel grew up and decided to take his responsibility with the ballet company. He didn’t let his father decided his life. I think the pacing of the story was great. There were a few scenes that made me laughed. Overall, Swan Story was another short and light fairy tale romance.
This is an interesting retelling of Swan Lake. It begins with Sara when she is a little girl wanting to be a ballet dancer. Of course she always had to be home before sunset. Then the story jumps forward to when she is an adult. She is a very good ballet dancer and plays the lead in the production of Swan Lake. Of course she meets a "prince" Daniel, who is from a wealthy family.
I thought this was a nice retelling of a timeless classic. I also liked that Sara was descended from Odette, the original character in the Swan Lake story. The writing was simple and perfect for a younger audience. Though I think adults will like it too. If you like romance, you might like this.
In this spin on the classic story "Swan Lake" we follow Sarah who has been cursed to turn into a swan every night. Despite this she wants to become a ballet dancer and eventually become the Prima Ballerina.
She finally gets the chance to play the lead in a Swan Lake production and she meets Daniel. They fall in love with each other, but Daniel feels pressured by his family to marry his fiancee Claudia. That is until a very crazy sign is sent his way to show that he just might be wrong.
I love it! I couldn't possibly be much satisfied with the book. Within the first chapter, I knew Cursed was going to be one of my top reads for the year. I was literally hooked within the first few pages and managed to finish it in two reading sessions, as I simply couldn't put it down
The writing is flawless, with a smooth tone that expresses character's clever dialogue and interactions with each other and vividly describes the world and the environment that they reside in. The plot is clearly well-thought out and overall the end result is a work that should be admired.
I think this is a great modern retelling of Swan Lake, and would be highly recommended to a YA crowd. It is of course fantasy, and it has all the necessary elements of a great romance. Forbidden love, untold secrets, with the added components of ballet. Great for young women that would like romance to be romance, and far ahead of most of the YA stuff that seems so popular these days.
Review: Cursed is a modern day Swan Lake. The characters are well built but the plot was predictable. It was a good read, and for free I couldn’t pass it up. The story ended well, and I felt like everything seemed to fold together nicely. I’d recommend this story to any romance reader.
