An excellent closure to the battle of Lumineia. Hale has described the war very well, and the characters are well defined, with specific tasks to perform in the battle. Braon's role as the strategic mind was brilliant.

This review is based on the audio book read by Derek Perkins.
Finally battle is joined. The gathered races have 7 days to try and hold out whilst Tayrn and his small band of followers head out to defeat Draeken. For both groups the tasks look impossible, but can heroes be found to save the day?
This book is probably the most dramatic and action packed of the trilogy given that it covers the final battles. The fight scenes are excellent but more importantly as the reader you feel the pain and aguish as fiends and their generals kill by the hundreds. No one is left untouched by tragedy and the emotionally turmoil of those fighting, going to die to save those left behind is heart warming. Whilst it's only fiction it is still reassuring to see an author writing about disparate races put aside generations of hate and mistrust to unite against a common enemy and so save the lives of many.

Am interested to see if the prequel "The list unseen" is as good

It was ok. Not great and not bad. The ending was a bit fast. I felt like we trying to build up this huge climax forever and then it was over in half a page. The people that live and die seem cliche. Some should have died and others had no need. Taryn is still annoying but not as bad as in previous books. Possibly because he isnt the main focus for most of the book. His constant doubting nature was a bit much in past books. I wish we had more of Newhawk. He was a great character and under utilized. The Rock Trolls and their story was great as well. We could have used a lot more of King Tryton. If you made it this far then you pretty much have to finish the series. The side characters were all the spotlight. Trin and Mae could have been developed more as well.

Out this series I loved this book the most. But Taryn and Liri I cannot stand! The other characters I love from Braon to Newhawk and especially Jack Myst! I loved the battle and how the commander had to sentence people to death makes me feel like it was really a war and what our heroes went through. But I found Taryn incredibly stupid and his relationship with Liri was just so cheesy! And I also found that every character had to be with someone and everyone will live and be happy ever after which is not what war is like.
Truthfully I probably wouldn’t have read this book if It didn’t have Jack Myst in it. Now that is a character!

Summary: Traditional high fantasy, well written, great descriptions and action. This book continues where the second left off, although get a bit predictable and unlikely

Plotline: A lot of time setting the context before we get down to the serious business of an overwhelming evil to be defeated. Entertaining.

Premise: Generally seems to work a bit too convenient in places

Writing: Everything is a bit too black and white. The good are really good, the evil are really evil, the heroes are completely heroic. All a bit too simplistic.

Ending: Clean ending, quite satisfactory. For some reason I see there is a book 4, I have no inclination to read it.

Pace: Never a dull moment!

This is the best of the trilogy in my opinion. The fight scenes can tend to run long and the couples match up quickly and predictably, but I thought it tempered the darker subject of the books as a whole. It was needed to keep from being swallowed by the tragedy.
Loved the thought-provoking circumstances and definitely was moved by multiple scenes and characters. The ending leaves both a sense of completion but also a wanting for more resolution (though there are apparently more books to the story). Overall, enjoyed the story, characters, and intriguing conflict. I was struck that the lessons could be learned in these days and be a blessing.
Would recommend.

Beyond Good -- Magnificent

The writing was flawless. The plot explodes forward leaving the reader hanging on for dear life. Ben Hale shows a wealth of knowledge that he imbues in his delightful and heroic characters. Every line is woven together into a tapestry of unforgettable reading experience from beginning to the final word.

Fantastic read!

I liked the character development. I felt that I was truly feeling the emotions of the leads. That doesn’t happen often and that indicates a gift of the author.

Seven Days brings the Elseerian trilogy to a close as it covers (you guessed it) the seven days that the combined races of the earth had to hold out against the army of fiends trying to extinguish all life. The book follows both the defense of the elven city by the combined races and Taryn and his group as they made their way to kill Draeken to stop the war before the defenders are overwhelmed. As in the second book, the focuses occasionally on other, minor character's points of view. This allows us to see the impact of the war on all types of people, but also shows how the actions of the few and insignificant can have as much of an impact as the main characters. Whether that is killing one of the enemy generals or boosting moral, each small act adds up to an effort that may be enough to win.

The book isn't perfect; the battle in particular is so huge that it's hard to get a good idea in your head of what's going on. An illustration of the city would have been really useful in this regard. The end is interesting. I'm still not sure how I feel about it, but it really reminded me of a boss fight in a video game. In the end though, I can't say enough good things about this book and the series as a whole. Once again I kept glancing at the progress bar, noting with disappointment the speed at which it was approaching 100%. I didn't want this book to end. Very satisfying and entertaining, with likable characters to whom it is easy to relate. I'm grateful that I stumbled on to this series and I hope that this isn't the last we hear from Taryn and Liri, or the author at the very least.

Overall a solid series, its rare that you find a recent completed series - I'm glad I found this one.

The best part I found in this was the war, all the races coming together and fighting under one banner was epic. Honestly, I wish Taryn and company was there for that battle and it played out more like the battle in Azerton was the only battle that needed to be fought...but it all played out well enough. Rock Trolls FTW!

One thing that I didn't like...

Like someone else said in their review, the ending was a little abrupt. I would of liked to read about some of the aftermath and how the other races adapted. In a way I felt it was like the ending of ME3 before the DC was released.

For end...

Ben Hale did it again and even better with his 3rd book in The Chronicles of Lumineia. In this 3rd story about Lumineia and the The Second Draeken War I have gotten to know some of the main Characters better like, Taryn, Liri, Trin, Maya and Brayen, Jack & Ciara. I also get to meet some new ones and LOVE their willingness for sacrifice in order to save the RACE from becoming extient. My spelling is probably off on the spelling of those names, but I LOVED those characters. My favorites were Jack, Terran, & Leary. But each Character plays such an important part in helping. I Love all of the different races Ben has included in this story from the Dwarfs, Druids, Amazons, Dark Elves, and Giants. There is soooo much to take in with this story that I will want to listen to it again soon to just be able to sink it all in completely! This story brought out many emotions from happy, fear and sadness, but in the end I was THRILLED that I took the time to buy it from Audible.com because it was WELL worth my time!!!

I only gave this book 4 stars, because although the series has been amazing, I felt like the ending was skimped on. Through the whole series, I felt like I was actually part of every important move every important character made. But, as an example, in the end of the third book, two important characters who built a nice relationship with each other died, which I would have had no problem with (kind of depressing though), but the reader wasn't even there to witness it. They just go their separate ways from the main character and die in a battle we aren't apart of. I felt like the series spent so much time on character development and then this ending was basically a "Okay, thanks, bye." It was very abrupt and felt shallow and out of place with the way the rest of the series was written.

Now, that being said, the author has constructed an amazing world. I really enjoyed the series. I writing was excellent. I look forward to reading more as the author continues to publish.

Well this book was the fastest to get finished :)
first the pros

The story was well paced with some nice incidents in between
The 2 main stories continued in parallel were balanced.
likes the flow too.
he ending was good enough m with lot of people die-ing and the hero coming out unharmed.

cons
The book became predictable in most if the places. the statement 'everyone has a role to play' was literally portrayed.
In lot of places the description dominated the actual scene and i felt like just bypassing them.
Draeken the mail villain was not given much space.

Overall
A nice ending to the trilogy. Not as good as the first 2, but still better than lot of books.

Scenes or even whole books about battles can quickly become tiresome if they're not written well enough. Seven Days does not fall into that category. It follows all of our favorite characters, and some new ones, as they battle the fiends and the four generals of Draeken's army. Everything comes down to this. It's an impossible battle, and it's not a matter of whether people will die, but how many. We lose some great characters in the end, but victory does not come without sacrifice. This was the perfect end to a great trilogy, and another excellently narrated audiobook. I've already picked up the prequel about Taryn's parents and can't wait to delve into that one.

One of the things that I love best about this series is the fact that the author doesn't need to resort to crass language! There are no problems with creating and maintaining intensity in characters, settings, and plot and keeping the writing clean. I love the way the characters interact and how the story weaves beautifully in the series.

It feels like the series ends with this book, but there are more. I can't wait to dig into them and bridge the gap between this series and his White Mage saga.

I'm sad. The series is over. I truly loved the entire series. The message of all the races coming together and working toward the greater good was inspiring. The idea of putting aside our pre-concieved prejudices and not judging others added an element of real life lessons to this story. The losses and the victories of the characters was both tough to read and uplifting at the same time. I will miss this world and these characters. Thank you Mr. Hale.

The riveting conclusion to this epic battle is a non-stop race for survival. You fight alongside your heroes at every turn. I loved every page.
